Great no frills food. I like the grilled cheese with fries and a malt. I grew up around the corner and it has remained consistent.

Not sure why this place is such a hype, maybe it is because it is very ancient and all worn out. There is a history to it but not well kept. The staff is rude and the food is below par. just avoid and go to a McDonald's. read more

I love their burgers here! 4 stars for meeting what expectations are for an old drive up burger joint. They actually remind me of Dick's burgers but bigger and not as hectic to get to. Juicy, tasty, and it's always about the cheese lol. I come here regularly to get my fix whenever I have an apt in the area. They have a little private lot on both sides of the shack (one side is shared with Speedy Glass Repair). There's some outdoor seating as well as indoor. If you're uncomfortable going in, they have a walk up window you can order from. Milkshakes are also bomb-tastic! Service can sometimes be a little slow if you're in a hurry but it's worth it. I love that they hire teenagers and help them get some job experience from a little locally owned business. I think you learn more values working for a small business. read more

We were passing through Bothel and saw the crowd at the Ranch Drive in and had to stop!! We ordered their burgers which were enormous. I got the Ranch burger with cheese and my bf got the Double Ranch Burger. The meat was perfectly cooked and you could tell it was fresh patties not frozen. Also tried the onion rings which were really good and crunchy. We will definitely be stopping again in Bothel for a burger!! read more

Picked up dinner from ranch drive in. The food was good as was the price. Given that we are in the midst of a pandemic and everyone is supposed to be wearing masks, one would expect the employees to be wearing masks. The gentleman taking orders was wearing a mask but it only covered his chin, he might as well not have been wearing a mask at all. I have a feeling that this is one of those places best enjoyed accompanied with a healthy dose of nostalgia from one's youth. Every city has one, a local hangout that has been around forever and every local probably has a friend or relative that worked here in high school. As a visitor, I found the ranch burger to be fine and the fries disappointing. My chocolate and peanut butter milkshake was the star of the show. They offer 20 ice cream flavors that you can blend. For what you receive, I thought it was a bit expensive. Not a budget burger place, there were no burger meal deals so everything is ordered à la carte. The only combos are for non-burger items (chicken and fries, fish and fries, etc.). Burgers are 1/4 or 1/2 pound patties. Fries and shakes come in small or large. Even though there are a handful of booths and tables inside surrounded by 50s era Western decor, I took my food to go. The interior space is pretty tight, so it is almost impossible to wait for your food without feeling you are in the way of the staff or other diners. Will I return the next time in Bothell? Like other reviewers, I've been occasionally coming to the Ranch for a long time. Its about the only option in DT Bothell for a quick burger/fries. Everything ordered a la carte. No combo meals here. Decent burgers. I had the bacon ranch on my last visit. Nothing really stands out to me tho. No nice way of serving it (like Red Robin, which half wraps it in paper for you to help avoid messy disasters). Fries are crinkle cut, for the price pretty small amount. Mike shakes are yummy too. For the burger, sm fries and small shake, it was $13. Ouch. Far higher (by about 20%) than Kidd Valley, and I prefer KV flame-broiled burgers over the Ranch. So -1 star on value gets a 3 star here. For some reason this place has a single $ rating, if you get burger, fries and a drink after tax you're over $10. read more

Very pleasant person who took our order. Two Bacon Double Ranch burgers ($7.75 each, 30 cents added cheese) and one large chocolate shake ($4.99) sure hit the spot sitting outdoors. It's an indie on the same level as Dick's, Burgermaster, Kidd Valley, Broiler Bay, or Red Mill. Or distinct and nostalgic like Triple XXX in Issaquah, Miner's in Yakima. We've been customers since 1987. Two weeks ago we had out-of-town guests and placed a phone order for $88 worth of Ranch Drive In food. I arrived at Ranch at 5:40pm and went up to the outside window and paid for my order with a VISA card. I also threw in a $10 cash tip, which we usually do. The young woman who took my payment said it would be a while as I had such a large order and it was quite busy. I then sat down at an outside table to wait for my order. At 6:20pm the same young woman who took my payment opened the window and asked me if I was waiting for an order, since I had been there for so long (kudos to her for even noticing how long I had been there). I told her that I had a phone-in order and that I had been waiting for it for 40 minutes. She looked at the order rack in the kitchen and pulled down three bags of food that had been under the lamps for 30+ minutes. She said "Sorry, no one must have called out your order. Don't worry, the food will still be hot." When I got home (5-minutes away) all of the food was cold, plus they messed up our order significantly. I mailed a letter to the owner a couple days later, and crickets. Nothing. Not a call or an email apologizing for the horrible service. Sad, but this was my last visit to the Ranch. A sidenote: why do they charge you $0.60 for a slice of American cheese, but if you ask for no bun (celiac-no gluten), there is no credit. read more

As a long time customer of Ranch drive-in, it's a real shame how awful the service has become over the past two years. Out of the past five times I've ordered my food, it has been prepared laughably incorrectly every time. The cashiers do a fantastic job paying attention and taking your order for the kitchen staff to completely fumble it. The kitchen is completely viewable from the seating area. I've routinely seen the 'chefs' switching between playing on their phones while preparing food, touching their faces, or being so obnoxiously loud they can be heard over families dining with their young children. Some of the best onion rings we have ever had. They are breaded not battered. Cooked perfectly and crunchy. Cute out-dated place. They have a walk up window where you can place your order. While waiting to order in the outside line, we realized that you could also go inside to order to-go and get served more quickly. Although quite busy, we got our food quickly (less than 10 mins wait on Sat night). Remember to ask for condiments, as they don't include any if you don't ask. I'm going to go ahead and say the 3 star and below reviews don't really understand the Ranch Drive-In, and that's fine, they simply shouldn't go there. It represents an era where you would get a freshly made burger from a burger joint where most the staff are teenagers and young adults, and it is exactly that. The burgers are tasty, malts are as well (a little on the sweet side); the chicken sandwich, oh wow that is spectacular and I love the fries. Go there during the evening and it'll be packed, it does add to the atmosphere of a hip burger joint. One of the downsides is it is expensive for a non-classy burger joint. The Ranch can somewhat justify doing this, however, because it's a Bothell staple. My mom tells me about how she used to go there as a teenager back in the day, that it's still more or less the same! I highly recommend this place. I only give it the 4-star and not 5 because of the higher prices. Though I do understand the overhead probably makes this necessary. read more

Adding bacon next time may help. The spread was also lacking flavor and I expected something more unique. Fries were meh. No pepper to be found which was odd. Kept having to put a lot of salt and ketchup all over. The onion rings were probably the highlight. Overall experience was great. Staff was real nice. I liked the old school vibe of the place. Good burger, cool place, lots of parking but you have to enter from one direction. Went through the COVID order process and scrammed until my number was called. Found a table in the parking lot and the people watching was on. Burger was a good size and the fixings were all good. The special sauce was a little wet and a bit sweet. Had O rings and they were delish. Had fries and they're were just ok. Also had to try a Corny dog. It was hot and cooked through. Could have done with more Mustard, but didn't venture a return to the Counter for more. Cool place. We will be back. read more

We went to Ranch for the first time and enjoyed our meal. I love that this place looks like a time warp from the 70s. It was very busy on a hot Saturday evening with lots of people coming for food and milkshakes. We both got double bacon cheeseburgers and they were quite good. My only complaint is they need to toast the bun a lot longer - they were barely toasted. We shared fries and onion rings. The fries are the frozen crinkle kind that I am not crazy about - and they needed to be cooked longer. But the onion rings are EXCEPTIONAL. Delicious. The tartar sauce was not great - but I liked the burger dressing (which seemed like tartar but with mustard added). The hubby liked his peanut butter shake. I tried a cherry coke float with vanilla ice cream and it was great. I can see why this place is an institution in Bothell. read more

Ranch Drive-in is your standard drive-in. Nothing fancy, nothing too expensive, just relatively good food at a relatively good location. The servers are mostly Bothell High Schoolers so don't be expecting anything too gourmet! :) Parking is readily available outside with clearly marked spaces for the drive-in guests. We arrived just in time as a flood of 40+ people arrived just after us for the BHS football game taking place that afternoon. Food came out within about 10 minutes and tasted ok. We wouldn't visit here again out of choice, but our friends enjoy it so we joined them for a quick afternoon snack. read more

Absolutely, hands-down THE most delicious, succulent, burger I have ever had in my life. I nearly took my clothes off it was so good. Granted the burger was nearly $10, but it was the most expensive one on the menu, and it was top-of-the-line; the patties were incredibly juicy, the bacon was perfectly cooked, and all the veggies were fresh. HIGHLY recommended you get cheese on your burger as well. The staff appeared to be in high school, but they were extremely fast, efficient, and friendly. There was even a group of eight students who walked in RIGHT before closing. The front counter gal was actually in the middle of sweeping. I would've been rather annoyed, seeing a group this size wander in three minutes to closing, however the staff maintained a professional composure and cranked out their orders. My hats off. Note: sadly if you pay by credit card, there is no line on the receipt to tip. They DO except cash tips in a bucket, which I would highly recommend tipping handsomely. They work hard and the food shows. First time ever hearing of this place, and I will DEFINITELY be coming back. read more

The line out front of this place was intimidating but the service was so fast. It took ten minutes to get my order. I ordered two bacon ranch burgers, fries, onion rings, a Oreo shake & a cherry root beer. The portions were pretty large, I could only finish half the burger. The Ranch Drive-In reminds me of the ice cream stands, or as we always called them "custard stands," found in pretty much every small town, where I grew up in rural western Pennsylvania. The Ranch has a great nostalgic feel with it's teeny-bopper employees and offerings of fast food style fare that can be enjoyed inside the Ranch's dark wood paneled inside with retro booth seating. The classic American fast food cuisine is deliciously unhealthy and makes me think of summer time. My honey had two different burgers. One was the Ranch Burger and the other a Bacon Ranch Burger. Both were nice sized, and I really like the sesame seed topped bun. The burgers were both deluxe fast food style burgers; decked out with lettuce, cheese, special sauce. While I feel Burgermaster up the street has a slight edge over the Ranch, based on the fact that the ingredients used there are a little higher quality, I would say Burgermaster is solid fast food fare. My only gripe is that the prices are slightly high. In addition to the 2 burgers that were around $4-$5, my honey had a pop, and onion rings. I only had a small (which was not small at all) peanut butter malt shake. The malt shake was peanut butter malt heaven! It was super sweet, so not something I'd get often, but it was quite tasty. I saw up on the menu board that they have sundaes with the option of marshmallow topping. This is one of my fave toppings combined with hot fudge, so I will definitely be back to try out a sundae. The onion rings were tasty but were really on the small side for the price. Our total bill came to $18, and I felt it a little high for the amount of food we got, especially with it being fast food. However, the food was really good, the burgers were bursting with flavor, and if I had to compare it to anything, I would say the Ranch tastes a lot like Dick's but only better. read more

I was last here about 3-4 years ago, and I swear at least one of the employees looked the same. Surprising!! I had whichever burger has all the regular burger toppings. It was pretty good and filled me up. I had barely eaten anything that day, so that meal was definitely satisfying. It cost about $5. I didn't have cash on me so I was pretty happy they accepted credit/debit! For a drive-in burger joint type place, I'll definitely say it's worth four stars. While I was there, I saw a couple of people that were probably in their early 20's that were obviously on a date. I was surprised by that because... frankly... that's not the kind of place I'd go for that occasion (and eat in). Taking that food to a park or scenic spot would be fine. Eating in means there's a good chance that the peace of your date will be interrupted by somebody's way-too-excited/loud child and... well, that just doesn't sound like fun to me! read more
