Stumbled into the downstairs bar for happy hour-- low ceilinged, centuries-old oak timbered, fresh micro-brewed goodness. I am so happy right now. And it's a steal-- v fragrant, tasty microbrews for $2.75?? Alternate universe? Must be. Thank you Alex for your superlative bartending. read more

Ok, so I just had the best hamburger I've had dining out in eons. Perfectly SEASONED (take note other restaurants! SEASON your damn burgers!), flavorful, fresh beef, cooked perfectly. The Hey Mac. Nice job Ramshead. (And Im an industry Consultant so I'm tough.) Sevice was excellent. Great greeting, recommendations and steps of service by girl Bartender. We cam during a shift change and no one forgot about us. 5 stars Ramshead. read more

I've been to Rams Head a couple times, mostly as somewhere to grab a beer and have a conversation in the back patio area, which has always been wonderful, so I thought of it when trying to decide where to go with my large family (14 people) and made a reservation without reservation. We got there a little late but they had us in a out-of the way room so hopefully this wasn't a huge problem. Eventually we were seated. 20 minutes later someone finally came to take our drink order. Again, I know we were a large party but there was no friendliness in his demeanor. He'd look at you for your drink order and if you hesitated for a second he'd move on without a word. I guess the wait was payback for us being late, but one would expect a waiter to be a little bit friendly no matter the circumstances. I ordered the "Belgian Streak and Frites" which on the menu promised a sirloin steak marinated with honey, mustard and ale served with rosemary and garlic fries. I ordered it rare. I was given a pretty juicy steak. Otherwise, it didn't taste like it was marinated in anything but some steak sauce. The fries came lukewarm and unadorned. Maybe they were lukewarm because the dinner was prepared in 30 minutes but came another hour later. I was also not given a steak night meaning I needed to saw through the steak the best I could without. our original waiter never came back, I suppose he had to go home to tend to the massive chip on his shoulder. Someone else refreshed drinks occasionally. When we got the check, because we were a large party, the gratuity was included. 22%. What?! I've heard of included gratuity and with a party our size I certainly expected it. But 22% is not only presumptious but it is greedy. Our family typically tips very well, anywhere from 20-25% usually, but when a 22% tip is not ony asked for, but expected, from a party who deals with a rude waiter, a 90 minute wait for food, and multiple server changes, Rams Head would certainly expect never to see us again. read more

Really nice upscale pub with a good beer selection and decent food. During happy hour they had a free roast beef and veggie station that was almost enough for a full meal. Here's the kicker. Excellent wings! I've tried a lot of them and these were the real deal. Crispy outside, juicy inside and good sauce choices. Major bonus! Excellent service for us. Definitely worth a shot for a casual dinner. read more

Wow. Good bar food in an old tavern brick building! Lots of interesting choices, reasonable prices, and generous servings. The Crabby Tots are not small children but an appetizer as big as your head. Nice choice of entrees, apps, and sandwiches, and some very good desserts. Check out the venue next door which has great entertainment most every night as well. This is a winner! read more

Bar: a clean and comfortable place with an outstanding beer menu. An icon downtown. Food: generally a good place to eat. Recommend against the duck street tacos. They're Korean styled and there was so much wasabi you couldn't taste anything else. Overall: avoid the duck tacos and you can't go wrong here. It's the default for a lot of us old timers in Annapolis. read more

Food was really good. The nachos and wings were decent, and priced well during happy hour. The entrees were solid as well, with the fish tacos and siracha chicken being the highlights. Located conveniently near campus and Main Street. Sever Tyler was excellent. Really enjoyed our visit! read more

Quick follow-up to my review from earlier this year ... sadly not much has changed since our last visit. Today, nostalgia reigned heavy and we headed downtown to RHT. Sigh. Cream of crab no longer tastes of sherry or even cream, much less the couple of shreds of crabmeat. The once venerable shrimp salad, which used to have fresh tasting, crisp shrimp are now those soft, wet, thawed from fresh-frozen shrimp-ring shrimp. The dressing though is still very tasty and spicy. The "toasted brioche bun" was a toasted potato roll ... fresh, not bad, but a common roll and the brioche was clearly MIA. Staff still competent and friendly, atmosphere and decor is great and I'm sure there is a good beer that will suit anybody's taste as the offerings are awesome. Still, what a shame about the food. Nothing to see here people, move along. 1 Previous Review: 1/31/2012 Very disappointed with the menu change this past weekend, especially the 20% (TWENTY PERCENT!) increase in prices for what was left on the menu. They have deleted many, many of our favorites, including the World Beer Club Sandwich! Maybe the menu was too diverse and trying to please everyone, but that was the beauty of Ram's Head ... always something different to try and once you'd been thru the whole menu it was easy to start over. They even changed the fries to cheap frozen tasting nasties ... can get better fries at the cheapest fast-food joint. The beer is still great, but sadly, we will be spending what used to be many Saturday afternoon's at Ram's Head somewhere else. read more

Rams Head Tavern in Annapolis is one of my favorite regular restaurants to visit in downtown Annapolis. The staff is friendly and the food is great for what would be considered standard bar fare. The happy hour deals are fantastic with free food and drinks that are reasonably priced. I tend to visit mostly on Wednesday for the seafood or Friday for the wings themed happy hour treats. I have completed the World Beer Club 3 times which I think has made me more knowledgeable when it comes to beer. The atmosphere can be both casual to the passing tourist, but I actually prefer the basement bar which feels historic. The beer selection is great. The food is fantastic. The people are nice. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. read more

We've eaten here many times for convenience after shows on the other side, but never because the food is worth while. The bar tenders, servers, manager are very helpful and friendly, BUT the food needs a serious over haul. Pub grub can taste good. I hope they do something about the selection and the chef. What an unfortunate mess! read more

Rams Head Tavern - Charo was great, her techo back up sucked. - American Near Me - Annapolis, Maryland

Pleasantly surprised... Got the Cuban sandwich and an old dominion stout beer. Sandwich was much better than I was expecting, very juicy pork. Beer was good, as well. Overall, service wasn't super, but the food was prepared quickly, and we didn't have to wait overly long for any of our requests. read more

This is one of my favorite places in Annapolis. They have great indoor and outdoor seating area. They have a great good selection. Like a really good food selection. We went here on the Fourth of July before the fireworks. I made a reservation because I expected anywhere downtown to be packed but to my surprise, Rams Head Tavern had so many empty tables. They sat us in an empty room which I thought was kind of odd since there were plenty of other options. It was almost too quiet - felt like I was just eating at home. The beers that we all ordered were great - no complaints there. The problem arose with the food. We all ordered an entree and ordered the crab tots as an appetizer. I was almost done with my beer when the entrees came out... And no appetizer! I mentioned to the waitress (who was not the one who took our order) that we never got our appetizer. After that, our waitress came and was very apologetic and offered to take the tots off the meal. My boyfriend still wanted them and asked her to bring them anyway. They finally came - when we were done with our meal. We were basically full and the tots ending up lacking crab and taste. It wasn't worth the wait. Otherwise, meals and beer were good. I just don't understand why the service was so slow when it wasn't very crowded. read more

Ordered a plain cheeseburger with no toppings and nothing on the plate. Got a burger, or something shaped like a burger, with a wet tomato on top. They offered to take it back, I declined. They took away the pickle, tomato along with the top of the bun. Tasted the burger...supposed to be Angus steak burger. It tasted like bad ground beef and something unknown. Did not finish the burger. They brought the bill and had automatically comp'd 50% of the cost. The burger wasn't worth $0.50 let alone the price! STAY AWAY!!!! read more

The steaks and fries were like shoe leather, cheap shoe leather at that! The service was below average, I had to ask to have my table cleaned off after sitting at it for a while, the parry next to use waited 20 minutes with out menus or water and had to ask for service. I normally don't complain and can wing it with half baked service and food, but I was so disappointed in my experience, I felt the urge to write and never go back. read more

Great food! The calamari is to live for, the Maryland Cream of crab soup wasn't hot and they skimped on the lump crab but it was delicious. The fish and chips is enough for at least two meals. Lightly battered and fried to perfection. The grilled salmon was excellent and the serving size is enough for two meals. This was my first visit and I was very impressed. Plus, the parking garage is very convenient. Will come back again. read more

Good place to see a concert which is why I can still give this place 3 stars. Where Ramshead loses points is their absolutely awful beer selection, especially for a place with "tavern" in their name. Ramshead must be getting a hell of a deal on that disgusting Fordham beer they keep pushing. Nobody I know likes that stuff. The IPA tastes like dirt and dish soap. It truly makes even crap Budweiser taste like champagne by comparison. The Old Dominion beer they sell is barely any better. Come on Ramshead. Get some decent brand name craft beers on tap like most every other bar in Annapolis. read more

I went with a friend for brunch on Sunday before a concert at noon. We arrived at 10 am (when they open) to give ourselves enough time... and I am glad we did. It took two of us almost exactly two hours to have brunch. The service was a disaster. We were told to pick our table... anyone in the restaurant industry knows this makes guests uncomfortable... especially when the place is empty! They walked us to the patio through the service entrance it seemed, back through the kitchen. The patio was lovely. They just had it covered last year. It was breezy and mostly quiet. However, the cushions were not secured to the chairs so when I sat down I was constantly having to readjust. It got to the point where I tied the cushion on myself because I was sliding so much. Two tables near us had to send back their plates because their orders had come out wrong-- and this was before 11:30, the restaurant was barely busy. My coffee came in a glass cup with an awkward handle. Clearly meant for orange juice. As I looked around later during the meal, everyone else's coffees and teas were in normal mugs. Our server rarely stopped by the table. We asked her for mimosas twice before she remembered to bring them. She also gave us the wrong check, and we sat for around 15 minutes waiting to get a glimpse of her so we could flag her down and tell her it was wrong. We were sitting on the patio near and emergency exit to a parking lot. The staff left the gate to the exit open constantly, letting in flies from the dumpster and killing the cross breeze we were getting. The odor and noise from the parking lot when the gate was open killed the ambiance. We were chatting with an older couple (apparently they come for brunch every Sunday) and they commented that the service here is in fact terrible, and it's something you have to learn to put up with. Two stars for the horrible service-- the food is good and the environment is lovely but the poor service totally cuts those two positives down. I would not go back. read more

Very poor service. My lamb burger tasted like it had a pound of salt in it! The server never came to check on us or ask why I didn't eat my food. Another girl dropped off check for us and had no comment or interest in our experience. On top of all when I ordered I asked to sub fries for fruit and when bill came I had an extra charge on it for substitution, which was never discussed! Very disappointed. Will not retern. read more

I had the shepherd's pie on a chilly day and it hit the spot and my companion had the fish and chips and there wasn't a crumb left. Feel free to draw your conclusions from that. I don't mean to sound like everyone on Yelp - an overinflated self esteem with know-it-all tendencies. However, having spent nearly four years in the United Kingdom, this was the closest I came to being back - except for being surrounded by people who can't drive, no one knows how to punt a ball with their head and people believe tea comes out of an aluminum can. If the overnight plane ride doesn't suit you, I recommend Rams Head. But please get something British/Irish and not the hamburger. read more

Some guy said it was bad because they didn't have wifi, but obviously he didn't enjoy the beer or the fantastic food! I had the "Hey Mac" and it was fantastic. They made a fantastic medium rare Burger for me with Mac and cheese on it and candied cayenne bacon. They brew their own beers, and have wonderful ambience and staff. Great food. Great ambiance on the outdoor patio but absolutely the worst service and management I've ever seen. I visited last week for the first time last week and had bad service but I figured it was just a fluke, they have a great happy hour menu so what the hell? Came back the following week and had the same experience. Had to ask to order... poor response from the wait staff... no smiles nothing. Figured I would give it one last chance and I waited 25 minutes for someone to look over but had to wave them down. A family that got here before me waited for 30 minutes. It's sad really... found a place with great food and ambiance only to be ruined by a lack of service. The waiter decided he would take 20-30% off my bill... how gracious. I won't be back. read more

I went here for lunch with co-workers and it was all bad. The waiter was nice, the service was good, but the food...YUCK. I asked the waiter if I should get the Cuban sandwich or the shrimp and grits and he said hands down, the shrimp and grits. I order the shrimp and grits and it was COVERED IN GREASE/OIL. I try to eat around it but even the grits were sunken UNDER the oil. To make matters even worse, they don't use andouille sausage! How can you have a southern dish in your restaurant, and you disrespect the dish by using some lame tasteless sausage?? There were more of these disgusting sausage pieces on the plate than shrimp. It was so nasty! I sent the dish back and ordered the Cuban sandwich. It came out fast, but was soggy and sloppy. The ham tasted like it was retrieved from the trash. It was disgusting. I have eaten here once before and I ordered the cobb salad. It was fine. I guess it's pretty hard to mess up a salad. My advice for this place is to stick with what's local. Seafood, crab cakes and other Maryland local foods. Leave Louisiana and Cuba where they are until you learn how to properly make the food. I'll never eat here again. read more

I visited the basement "pub" section. The place was empty on a cold Sunday night, only six other patrons. The beer list was decent although not as large as I had expected from a radio ad that suggested a significant beer list, and a pub that has a "World Beer Club". I certainly found enough good beers on the list to place a quick order though. For appetizer I had the crab dip. It's a rich dish with ingredients that I like, although a bit too much for just one person. Some people may not like the richness which makes me think it's a "love it or hate it" kind of appetizer. I definitely enjoyed it. For dinner I had the shepherd's pie. It was a cold night and I was looking forward to a strong porter and some comfort food. The shepherd's pie was good although a tad on the dry side (I'm used to it having a little gravy inside), but the ingredients did seem fresh and of good quality. I'll go back. read more

Me and my boyfriend came to eat here on st patties day for the 50 cent Guinness. But we got charged full price $8 for a plastic cup 12-16 oz I don't remember. The waitress said, oh that's only if you're in the tent. But no where on their advertisement does it specify. The service was really bad. The waitress was nice but she was clearly overwhelmed with too many tables, every-time a new guest would sit down she would ignore them or didn't see them. She kept coming to our area and we needed things but we couldn't get her attention because she was focusing on one table. My table and 3 others all had to get up from our tables to get her attention. It was ridiculous. The only reason why I am giving 2 stars was because the food was good, but terrible service. We will not be returning. read more

I went here back in October for lunch with some friends. I hadn't been to the Annapolis location except to have a few drinks but I used to go to the Rehoboth Beach Rams Head a lot. The service was decent and the food really rich and authentic. I got the cream of crab soup which clogged my arteries but was worth it. I then got a crab cake (broiled) and it made my visit home to MD worthwile. My friends got a seafood pasta and a burger and split some nachos I think. I like the beer they brew there and overall it's a neat venue for live music and good eats. For three it was around $ 110. read more

The acoustics here are fine. The mixed drinks, however, are terrible (if you go, stick with the bottled beers) and the food is worse than a freakin' Fridays. Also, I didn't take too kindly to the fact that certain patrons of RHT tend to frown on interracial couples. Having said all that, they bring very interesting musical acts to their venue. Go for the music, drink the bottled beer, and you can make a pretty good night out of it. read more
