Me (Hispanic) and my Caucasian wife. I say, perfectly polite: "Hi sir, how are you? I haven't seen you in a while." His response? Loud. Performative. Aggressive. "Seeing me? I've never seen you in my life." Said it out loud on purpose so everyone around could hear. Instant hostility. Zero reason. Just pure attitude. Stack this: * He had JUST been at the table a few spots over minutes earlier. * At that table he was all smiles, sweet, nice, shaking hands with me and my friends. * Warm. Friendly. Completely different person. * Then he walks over to us and flips the switch like a light. That's not a bad day. That's bipolar restaurant owner energy.
