My mother has lived at GS for over 2 years. I toured several other facilities before making the important decision to move her to GS. Our family's experience with the staff has exceeded our expectations. In addition to the lovely rooms, grounds, facilities, activities, etc, the care she receives is wonderful, compassionate, respectful and with a little extra personal touch. There are plenty of activities and special events to keep her occupied and we as a family often participate along side her. I can't say enough good things about this facility. We were at two other larger facilities that really let us down in terms of care, when we really needed help. Then we found Good Samaritan! What a wonderful place for a loved one. The staff took great care of my father until his last breath. I never had to worry if he was being taken care of. On my visits he was clean, comfortable, safe and content. The facility is extremely clean and well ran. Finding GS was the answer to my prayers. My 105 year old mother spent the last two years of her life at Good Samaritan. It is so well run and everyone from the Administrater to the caregivers to the activities ladies to the kitchen and cleaning staff would make a point of greeting her and making her feel loved. The nursing staff was excellent and went above and beyond expectations. I loved that it was a small personal environment where everyone knows each other. Every special occasion has decorations that make the residents feel like they are part of the holiday. It's the best place you could place your precious loved ones and be confident that they were in the best hands when you left. The grounds have many fruit trees and you can walk freely and feel safe and enjoy the gorgeous days. I would recommend Good Sam to everyone. read more

We weren't sure whether our mom was ready to move into a retirement center or not, but toured the facility to give her an idea of what to expect. Susan, the administer, was helpful and understanding. Susan was very accessible and responsive. She provided her cell phone number so we could call with any questions along the way. The facility was well kept and the chapel on campus was an added plus. Despite the many pluses of the facility, including Susan's helpfulness and kindness, my mom decided that she was not quite ready to transition to a retirment center at this time. My mother was at Good Samaritan for a little over 5 years until her recent passing. We couldn't have asked for better care for her. She was treated with dignity and love by staff members and caregivers all these years. Beautiful surroundings and peaceful environment. Eventually mom was on an assisted living waiver with level 2 care and remained well taken care of. She had to enter hospice care there and everything went seemlessly up until her very peaceful passing. A big Thank you to Susan, Vicky, Jennifer, Christina and the entire crew of caregivers. Oh! I am very unhappy with Jennifer & Susan's behavior and attitude toward if and callback; I me. I called the phone number listed on Google, and Jennifer kindly answered the phone. I asked Jennifer if I wanted to attain a quote to place my Grandmother at Good Samaritan Retirement Center. She provided me with Susan's direct phone number. I called Susan 1 time, and I left a VM. I didn't receive a callback, I called again, and she rejected my call on the first ring. I called Jennifer back; by now, I had left Susan two VMs. Jennifer told me to call her back, and I snapped as this falls under the category of Harassment. To have good customer service, Susan should have professionally called me. I waited and called Susan back, but she rejected my phone call again. I called Jennifer and snapped. By how unprofessional this is. I told her that Susan should be FIRED! USAN, and sent me a text message. Extremely unprofessional. I kept requesting a phone call. Can I send them a bill for my text message? I ASKED JENNIFER, MAY I SPEAK TO YOUR BOSS? SHE TOLD ME SUSAN WAS THE BOSS. I ASKED WHOSE SUSAN'S BOSS WAS, AND SHE TOLD ME SUSAN WAS THE BOSS! Around 5 pm, Sister Madeleine called me; I was so angry. I knew what Susan was doing by protecting herself. Mom wasn't there long enough. 3 days before the move in she fell and broke her rib. GS moved mountains to establish hospice care and get a hospital bed on the weekend..admin keeping me updated Sunday night while she was home sick! Mom never got a bed sore as she was bed bound her last month of life. The entire staff care for her and us so well, we couldn't have found better place. And it's sooo clean! No complaints! Peace of mind I moved my parents into Good Samaritan Retirement Community several months ago from another assisted living place. My father's health had declined, and he no longer fit their criteria to continue living there (I should have asked more questions). Good Samaritan has an incredible, very special feeling upon entering. It is abundantly clear that Good Samaritan is run from the top down by well-vetted, professional and caring individuals. This place is truly unique. From my first encounter with the Director, Susan, I knew that this was the place for my parents. Because of my dad's uniques needs Susan put staff into place to ensure that his needs would be adequately met. He is able to receive hospice care here, and their staff is equally professional, communicative, and compassionate. Since they have moved in we have encountered top level professionalism. Additionally it is so well staffed. Whenever my parents hit their call button a staff member arrives almost immediately. Staff are not only responsive but are incredibly caring, kind, and respectful to the residents. And communication with families is regular. I have also been very impressed with the therapy staff. Importantly my mom and dad are happy here. I think that I saw my dad smile for the first time in over a year about a week after moving in. The rooms are beautiful, well lit, spacious, and well furnished (if needed). We are so incredibly pleased. The food is good and there is a wealth of activities. The on-site salon is amazing. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a safe, beautiful, well-run and maintained residential home to call and request a tour. And I truly do have piece of mind knowing that my parents are now well-known and cared for with such respect and compassion at Good Samaritan. read more

My mother moved into Good Samaritan about 1 1/2 years ago. Even though they were suffering from the same staffing shortages as the rest of their industry, they were still able to provide a high level of care, partly by wisely cross-training their people. And their staff seemed honestly committed to their jobs; I would not uncommonly catch one in some random act of kindness. My mother sadly passed away a week or so ago, but I am able to rest a little easier knowing that while she was there, they not only took good care of her, but seemed to truly care about her as well. read more

My 89 year old mom moved into Good Samaritan in early October she's finishing up her 1st month and we couldn't be happier. The whole staff here from Susan to the kitchen are warm and caring. She has something to do several times per day to stay active. Mom had a fall early in her stay and after a quick evaluation I was called and advised at 11:15pm. I feel compelled to write this, although I rarely post on YELP. Good Samaritan is prayers answered for my family. My dad has lived at Good Samaritan for almost 2 months now. The family was sooo concerned to move Dad out of his house and into an unfamiliar place. We were afraid that Dad would not like it. Well, he loves it! From the moment one pulls into the driveway of this resort (yes...RESORT! That's the look and feel of the place!!!) and enters the facility, you know this is a top-notch place. It is commonplace to see residents happily chatting with each other in the lobby on any given day. After touring the facilities, the director, Susan, gave us her number to reach her with any needs or concerns we may have. Our family is very grateful for the open communication with staff. Since Dad moved in, every time I call Good Samaritan, the staff answers the phone promptly. I just love that when I call, whoever is the staff that answers the phone that day, knows who my dad is and will tell me how and what's he's doing. Dad loves the food especially. He says, "I'll never go hungry here. They feed very well." His room is sunny and spacious and just perfect for elderly living. And, there is a spa on-site. Dad gets pedicures regularly and is very happy that he doesn't have to travel to get one. Haircuts and colors are also done there. The chapel down the hall on the 1st floor is beautiful. Residents can enjoy watching TV in the TV room with each other. Oh, and they have a pool table! I can go on and on! Really! For example, the staff....from housekeeping to medical to front office to grounds keepers....all so friendly and helpful! Most of all, our family has peace of mind knowing that our father is taken care of with the utmost dignity and compassion he deserves. If I should ever need a retirement home for myself, Good Samaritan would be my choice. If you are looking for a nice retirement home for your loved one, I HIGHLY recommend Good Samaritan. My mom has been a resident of Good Samaritan Retirement Center for two years. From the moment we walked through the doors for a tour, we felt like we were at home with family. My mom was able to bring her own furnishings and photos for her room which helped her immediately feel at home and comfortable. Her dementia has gotten progressively worse since arriving at Good Samaritan and, at times, she can be somewhat of a "challenge." I just can't say enough about how kind and caring the staff is. They are extremely communicative with us and they are incredibly patient and caring with her. Since arriving at Good Samaritan I have seen a significant change in my mom. When living at home with a caregiver, she rarely moved off of her sofa and she wasn't eating properly. At Good Samaritan, she attends morning mass every day, plays Bingo, goes on planned excursions, enjoys delicious meals with friends in the dining room (She is a VERY picky eater and she always raves about how good the food is!) participates in sing-alongs, etc! These activities keep her active and her mind stimulated. I can't say enough about Susan, the director. She is kind, caring, patient and helpful and she has truly been a Godsend helping us navigate this stage in her/our lives. The sisters at Good Samaritan are also extremely kind and caring. Good Samaritan has made the transition for our family very smooth and we could not be happier with the care that my mom is receiving. The wonderful people at Good Samaritan Retirement Center go above and beyond in taking care of my Mother. The staff are so caring and have taken the time to get to know my Mom, and I can tell she has grown close to them. The med tech and nurses are on top of her medications and competently address any health needs that come up. My mom is happier, healthier, and more engaged than before she moved into Good Samaritan. I'm very pleased with the positive changes I've seen in her in just a short couple of months! I also see that the staff is doing everything possible to keep residents safe. I'm so grateful that they have been instrumental in helping us get her home health nursing, dental visits, and physical therapy right there in her unit! My Mom's studio is clean and spacious, with floor to ceiling windows opening into a patio with a view I'm envious of! The Center itself is clean and secure. The staff does a great job with decorating for holidays and other special days, even bringing over a gorgeous tame horse for Mother's Day for the residents to feed and pet! Over the last 8 years I have directly worked side by side with the Good Samaritan team: the Sisters, administrator Susan, facility nurse, med techs, caregivers, activities, chef, cooks, house keeping, maintenance, even the business office. My Mother moved to Good Samaritan in November of 2018. We were apprehensive at first, but all our fears were abated within the first few days. The building is spotlessly clean and well appointed. My Mom's room was spacious and inviting. But it was the staff that really made Good Samaritan so special. From the management, to the caregivers, to the kitchen staff. They are topnotch and always professional. My Mom enjoyed the activities from bingo, penny poker, to the outings on the bus visiting local neighborhoods and special points of interest. My Mom was a devout catholic and just loved being able to go to church everyday in the chapel. My grandmother, "Pepper", lived at Good Samaritan for two years. Every staff member was wonderful. They treated her with love and kindness as though she were a part of their family. The care givers always talked to her in a loving way as they cared for her, did her makeup, and made her laugh. My grandma was able to stay with Good Samaritan through Hospice and was treated with such dignity at the end. The staff were also very kind and compassionate to our family as we said goodbye. My elderly aunt spent only the last 2 1/2 months of her life here--but they were the happiest in over 3 years, (since she left her home to first move to an assisted living facility due to Moderate-Severe Dementia). The building is beautiful and one's energy is lifted as soon as you step through the entrance. Susan, the administrative director, makes herself very available and goes all out to decorate for the holidays! The staff are all amazing and put their hearts into their work--from the med techs, to the caretakers, to the amazing activity directors (there are two!) They genuinely care about the residents and make it a point to "know" them. My aunt finally found herself in a "community"! Her previous complaints of boredom and isolation disappeared. If she was missing from an activity, she got a knock on her door! She of course, could refuse, but most of the time found herself enjoying the daily social interaction. Even the cook, Eduardo, went out of his way to purchase "gluten free" cereal and pasta for my aunt (who had celiac disease) because I lived 50 min. away. Finally, my aunt's spiritual needs were fulfilled by daily Mass in a lovely traditional Catholic chapel surrounded by stained glass windows. Good Samaritan Retirement Center was established by the Chaldean Sisters--Daughters of Mary Immaculate Conception. You'll find the Executive Director, Sister Alexandra, a very wise, accepting, and beautiful soul. Sister Lourdes always exudes peace, love and caring. You do not have to be Catholic nor Christian to be accepted and feel God's presence here. I am so thankful and grateful to everyone beyond words, for helping my aunt find peace, joy and community during her last stage of life. The Good Samaritan Retirement Center is an exquisite place full of love, happiness and simply family oriented. With the wonderful residents to the amazing staff, an energy of joy bursts in once walking through the doors. My grandmother who moved to San Diego from Michigan lived with my family and I for about a year. One day, we were visiting the beautiful chapel inside the center and my grandmother was in awe, first walking through the door then walking in the chapel. She fell in love and said she must live here; her words to be exact, "I'm in heaven". After that day and 5 years later, this place has become like home. Wonderful meals, fun and entertaining activities, spacious rooms, beautiful yard and scenery, great caregiving service, I'm not sure what else we can ask to simply have my grandmother live her life with smiles and laughs! read more

The wife and I attended a car show and vendors exhibit today at noon. The place of this event was perfect. There was ample parking with easy to read directions. The event was well organized with vendors greeting you as you walked out of the parking area. The staff was helpful and friendly making the event a pleasure to attend. There was music, raffles and a good show of oldie cars. The food at the event was tasteful, plentiful and hot. Some of the food items they had, Italian sausages, hotdogs, bowl of chili, desserts and chips. It was one of the best local car shows I have attended. The event coordinator Susan Sorensen was enchanting and a delightful person. There were several residents watching the show and appeared to be having a good time. Thank You Good Samaritan. read more

This place has been incredible for my 88 year old mom. The staff are very caring and accommodating with our requests. The other day when I was there, a staff member popped her head in to see if my mom would like her to turn the TV on for her. The med tech and nurses take great care with her health and medication needs. The meals are prepared by a chef and are tasty and nutritious. Good Samaritan offers residents several daily activities which include Sit and Stretch classes, Bingo, Ice Cream Socials, Movie Night, Sing-a-longs and more. The grounds are beautiful and clean and well maintained. My mom's room is the perfect size and she was able to bring her own furniture which makes it feel just like home. We are happy that our mom is in a safe and caring environment and that she is still close to home where we can visit her or pick her up to take her on outings. read more

The employees are GREAT. The manager Susan use to be friendly when her mother was there but now that she went elsewhere Susan seems to not care. She stays in her office but when she does come out she has a frown all the time on her face as if it's a bother to be there. The Good Samaritan Retirement Center was selected again by the local Chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors enjoyed their annual installation of officers luncheon here today. Everyone there was attentive and friendly. The meeting room and the dining areas were nicely decorated, the service at the tables was timely and cheerful. The food from the 1st class buffet line serving room was terrific. Best bbq pork ribs and chicken I've personally have had this year. The residents seem calm, happy, healthy and comfortable while mingling in the lobby and visiting each other in the lobby. The facility is beautiful and the surrounding landscape is well- manicured but also has the country scene with plenty of trees and plenty flowers in the spring. I know we'll return again for their hospitality and catering. Great place. read more

My mom suffered from post neuralgia due to shingles resulting in limited use of her dominant hand and we had to find a place that would be able to assist her. We stumbled across GS. GS is beautiful. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and well maintained. Mom loved it the minute she walked in. It had everything we could ask for. The staff and sisters were so wonderful and welcoming! GS is clean and immaculate! The church is beautiful. My mom loves going to church and how wonderful is it to have one onsite? GS also has many planned activities during the day to keep the residents busy. Mom is a social butterfly so she thrives in this environment. Mom also developed such wonderful friendships with staff and residents who became her second family. The most important thing is mom was always safe and well taken care of and we had complete peace of mind. I would not trust any other place for my mom. The Catholic services, and Father Dave, are a perfect fit for our Mom but you do not have to be a Catholic to enjoy the many wonderful things Good Samaritan has to offer. We moved our Mother to Good Samaritan in July 2017 after needing to move her out of another nearby facility where we had to watch out for her everyday. All I can say, is that when your Mother looks at you and says " I just love it here" it makes you heart want to burst with joy. This is especially true after the nightmare we went thru at the other place we had her in. I can not think of one bad thing to say about the place. The apartments are great, very spacious and my Mother even has 2 walk-in closets. The aids are very attentive to her needs and seem to truly care about the people who live there. Susan Sorenson the administrator goes above and beyond making sure everyone is happy and will take the time to answer any of your questions anytime. In addition, it is non-profit so the monthly cost is less than the other for-profit corporate run facilities, who only care about their bottom line. It is such a relief to have my Mom living at Good Samaritan. We don't have to worry everyday about the care she is receiving and we know she is happy and well cared for!!!
