Since I got my boyfriend hooked on this Ramen thing, we decided to finally try Ramen Nagi because of all the reviews we've been hearing since it first opened its market in the Philippines. I love how you can customize your ramen according to your preferred taste. The broth that they use are amazingly flavorful and will leave you speechless every sip. The price is very reasonable given the quantity and the quality of their ramen and service. I usually talk a lot whenever we're eating but this time, "galit galit" muna. I just want to focus on what I'm eating. I can't wait to go back again to try other offerings.

I've eaten in Ramen Nagi twice &, both times, I found the broth too salty for my taste. But, I always believe in trying anything thrice. So, my third visit to Ramen Nagi was with my brother. We just needed ramen that day. Our plan was to order the "usual" & just share the bowl. Even before we chose which bowl to get, our server told us about the "Truffle King"! Well, it was definitely something new & all I was thinking about was noodles. We ordered & I requested for the Chef's Recommendation. At that point, all I was expecting were noodles + broth drizzled with truffle oil. So, I wasn't surprised when the bowl arrived in less than 5 minutes. But, when I saw the black slices all over the bowl, I had to ask the server, "Are those black slices really Truffle?", "Yes, ma'am! Truffle slices and there is mushroom also." WOOOW! Each mouthful of broth, noodle & truffle slice was just sooo decadent! I don't know what the chef did but, the broth was flavorful (not salty!) & the truffles didn't overpower it. It was a full Truffle flavor experience. My taste buds & tummy were both satisfied! Sadly, the Truffle King is only available until the end of June. So, if you ever wondered how freshly sliced Truffles taste, go get yourself this bowl!

When it comes to ramen, my foodie friends and I agree that Ramen Nagi is currently the one to beat. The broth is packed with flavor, and there is no other casual dining place that I know that comes close. Serving size is hardly an issue. Even this glutton had trouble with the last few spoonfuls. I have always had the pork belly, and I am definitely going back for a taste of their beef brisket.

    Gyoza's pretty good too

Although that's the case, I still enjoy exploring cheaper ramen places, and I am so annoyed right now because apparently, Hikojyu has been around for a year and a half already, yet I learned about it only 2 weeks ago! Bummer! Anyway, my boyfriend and I are so glad of this discovery! Unlike other ramen restaurants, Hikojyu's ramen choices are limited to just 2 kinds: shoyu and tonkotsu. Naturally, we ordered both! When they were served, I was a bit apprehensive because they didn't look hefty. However, on my first sip of both broths, I knew we have found the best affordable ramen shop in Marikina! They are rich in flavor, minus the umay factor that others have! Of course, given the price, the toppings were understandably limited to a few pieces of pechay, egg halves, and a chashu slice, which could still be made more tender, IMO. If you want your ramen to be spicy, use any of their authentic Japanese condiments. For our sides we tried their gyoza and potato salad. I was never a fan of gyoza save for Ippudo's deep-fried gyoza, and now, I have a second favorite! This one doesn't have the yucky mashed old veggie taste that most gyozas have! But if I had to pick just one side, I'd order their potato salad more often! It's perfectly seasoned! Wish it came in a bigger serving, though! On one corner of the restaurant is a table with magazines, both English and Japanese, plus an album filled with the owners' pictures in Japan. We met one of them, the wife, Tita Tess, and she's really nice and accommodating! Never a dull moment! Her husband is Japanese, so we know that Hikojyu's dishes are authentic! I can't wait to go back and try their rice meals!!!

Tucked along the busy strip of restaurants and businesses under the Mezza Residences is probably…read moresome of the best ramen I've had in Metro Manila--and that's saying something, because ramen is a big deal in these parts! It doesn't have the international recognition of Ippudo or Santouka or the creativity of Nagi, but the ramen here feels as though someone is treating you for a nice dinner at home. There are only three flavors available of the ramen, the shiro (classic), kuro (garlic), and aka (spicy). I've had both the kuro and aka, and I can say that they are extremely satisfying. Neither the garlic nor the spice was too overpowering. The broth was also extremely well-balanced. Not too fatty but still smooth enough to make you want to slurp the bowl once you've finished. The pork cuts weren't as tender as I've had at other places, but still very well done. The tamago was also well done. Love the runniness! But what puts this place over the edge into 5-star territory is the price. You can get a super filling bowl of ramen here for only 230 pesos! And that's for the larger size! I wager that's basically half of what you'd pay at the more upscale mall places for nearly the same quality. I was also able to try one of their sets featuring a bowl of ramen of your choosing, their gyudon rice don on the side and a bowl of fresh fruits for only 360 pesos. I was stuffed after. So so worth it. The gyoza was also really well made, and a steal for only 100 pesos. The staff here is always super attentive and accommodating, even when we've come in with a larger group, and they do accept all major credit cards, which is a huge plus for me. Definitely worth a try. I don't have to venture out to the more upscale parts of the Metro to enjoy a well-curated bowl of ramen anymore!

My personal ramen picks are gomoku (vegetable + seafood) and miso ramen. Dining experience is direct to the point and not fancy, which is something that I like very much. The parking space is limited, so it's best to arrive at their opening times (11AM for lunch or 5PM for dinner). Commuting may not be as convenient, but there are several tricycles and jeeps that pass through Sumulong Highway. Staff service is also awesome - authentic Japanese style. Pay on the counter before leaving and DON'T GIVE TIPS! Even the guard that helped me back up the car did not accept my tip. Instead he said thank you and bowed to me like what the Japanese usually do huhuhu amazing! Highly recommend to try out if you're in the area. I will definitely come back for another bowl of ramen! :3

In Japan, it is known to be mobile wooden food carts available from afternoon 'til Midnight. It is popular across Fukuoka and other parts of Japan. Food stall venture is nothing new in the Philippines but, having a store of Ramen at the lowest price explains the crazy swarm of people. Yatai Yakitori opens at 5:30pm 'til 2:00am. We visited early at 5:00 in the afternoon to secure a seat and fulfill our Ramen cravings. There are two lines separating dine-in and to-go customers. Lines is relatively shorter in the take out lane but our order took 2 long hours to be packed. RAMEN Price points for all variants: Super P105 Overload P145 Flavors to choose from: Shoyu (non spicy) Tan Tan Men (spicy) Konbata Shasyumen (creamy and non-spicy) Gyuniku Ramen (beef toppings) KUSHIYAKI Comes is 3 and as described in the menu: Butabara P50 Thick cut boneless pork belly that almost melts in your mouth Yakitori P40 Super tender bones and chicken thigh Tebasaki P30 Chicken wing on a stick DONBURI Rice toppings for P75 4 pcs of Gyoza is priced at P40. We ordered all flavors Ramen and we all agreed that it doesn't meet our expectations. It was okay but It's all I can attest that quality is decreased once the demand has increased. It is better if the stall can find other decent location for it hinders the sidewalk and bike lane. Blocking the pathway defeats the purpose of Tomas Morato's sidewalk widening project. The kiosk stands in the corner of Sct Fernandez right in across of Chili's. Parking spaces are available along Tomas Morato. Commuters can take kamuning-bound jeepneys or tricycles from Quezon Avenue MRT station.

We ticked RYU off our restaurant bucket list, and ordered the chashu ramen and steamed pork gyoza. If you're like me, there is this ingredient in gyoza that I find very, VERY hard to stomach. Fortunately, RYU's steamed pork gyoza turned out to be really, REALLY good. The hero in RYU's steamed gyoza is the pork, and the soy sauce dip that came with the dish is light and slightly sweeter than I'm used to. It did an excellent job of whetting our appetite for the night's main attraction. It was one of those nights when we preferred not to kill our taste buds with Japanese curry, so we both opted for the chashu pork ramen, and ordered an extra tamago (soft boiled egg) with it. We can't help but compare with our current ramen standard bearer in UP Town Center. I thought that RYU's noodles were more substantial and filling, the slices of pork less fatty, and the tamago's yolk richer and silkier. It is in the broth where it falls short. The flavor is a bit thin and one-note. Aside from the broth, I can say that it has the makings of a dish that we'd be happy to pay upwards of 300 pesos for, and happily keep coming back for.
