Tucked along the busy strip of restaurants and businesses under the Mezza Residences is probably…read moresome of the best ramen I've had in Metro Manila--and that's saying something, because ramen is a big deal in these parts! It doesn't have the international recognition of Ippudo or Santouka or the creativity of Nagi, but the ramen here feels as though someone is treating you for a nice dinner at home. There are only three flavors available of the ramen, the shiro (classic), kuro (garlic), and aka (spicy). I've had both the kuro and aka, and I can say that they are extremely satisfying. Neither the garlic nor the spice was too overpowering. The broth was also extremely well-balanced. Not too fatty but still smooth enough to make you want to slurp the bowl once you've finished. The pork cuts weren't as tender as I've had at other places, but still very well done. The tamago was also well done. Love the runniness! But what puts this place over the edge into 5-star territory is the price. You can get a super filling bowl of ramen here for only 230 pesos! And that's for the larger size! I wager that's basically half of what you'd pay at the more upscale mall places for nearly the same quality. I was also able to try one of their sets featuring a bowl of ramen of your choosing, their gyudon rice don on the side and a bowl of fresh fruits for only 360 pesos. I was stuffed after. So so worth it. The gyoza was also really well made, and a steal for only 100 pesos. The staff here is always super attentive and accommodating, even when we've come in with a larger group, and they do accept all major credit cards, which is a huge plus for me. Definitely worth a try. I don't have to venture out to the more upscale parts of the Metro to enjoy a well-curated bowl of ramen anymore!

Pocket-friendly japanese food hub along Tomas Morato…read more Yatai literally means "street stand", small stall that usually serves Ramen. In Japan, it is known to be mobile wooden food carts available from afternoon 'til Midnight. It is popular across Fukuoka and other parts of Japan. Food stall venture is nothing new in the Philippines but, having a store of Ramen at the lowest price explains the crazy swarm of people. Yatai Yakitori opens at 5:30pm 'til 2:00am. We visited early at 5:00 in the afternoon to secure a seat and fulfill our Ramen cravings. There are two lines separating dine-in and to-go customers. Lines is relatively shorter in the take out lane but our order took 2 long hours to be packed. RAMEN Price points for all variants: Super P105 Overload P145 Flavors to choose from: Shoyu (non spicy) Tan Tan Men (spicy) Konbata Shasyumen (creamy and non-spicy) Gyuniku Ramen (beef toppings) KUSHIYAKI Comes is 3 and as described in the menu: Butabara P50 Thick cut boneless pork belly that almost melts in your mouth Yakitori P40 Super tender bones and chicken thigh Tebasaki P30 Chicken wing on a stick DONBURI Rice toppings for P75 4 pcs of Gyoza is priced at P40. We ordered all flavors Ramen and we all agreed that it doesn't meet our expectations. It was okay but It's all I can attest that quality is decreased once the demand has increased. It is better if the stall can find other decent location for it hinders the sidewalk and bike lane. Blocking the pathway defeats the purpose of Tomas Morato's sidewalk widening project. The kiosk stands in the corner of Sct Fernandez right in across of Chili's. Parking spaces are available along Tomas Morato. Commuters can take kamuning-bound jeepneys or tricycles from Quezon Avenue MRT station.

#FoodieSquadGoals! The other day, my foodie neighbor and I kicked off our search for a new fave QC…read morerestaurant. We ticked RYU off our restaurant bucket list, and ordered the chashu ramen and steamed pork gyoza. If you're like me, there is this ingredient in gyoza that I find very, VERY hard to stomach. Fortunately, RYU's steamed pork gyoza turned out to be really, REALLY good. The hero in RYU's steamed gyoza is the pork, and the soy sauce dip that came with the dish is light and slightly sweeter than I'm used to. It did an excellent job of whetting our appetite for the night's main attraction. It was one of those nights when we preferred not to kill our taste buds with Japanese curry, so we both opted for the chashu pork ramen, and ordered an extra tamago (soft boiled egg) with it. We can't help but compare with our current ramen standard bearer in UP Town Center. I thought that RYU's noodles were more substantial and filling, the slices of pork less fatty, and the tamago's yolk richer and silkier. It is in the broth where it falls short. The flavor is a bit thin and one-note. Aside from the broth, I can say that it has the makings of a dish that we'd be happy to pay upwards of 300 pesos for, and happily keep coming back for.
