    original king and red kings

My friends and I visited on a Saturday, they get really long lines on weekends! Not too much seating inside. It's a small menu with about 4-5 options, and there are many customizations you can make. I got the original king, the ramen was flavorful and came in a big bowl. It was good, but not sure if I'd wait in a big line for it again.

They don't take reservations! You have to walk up and/or stand in the line to get in. The ramen is that good. They have a handful of basic types of ramen that you can choose from and then customize. They give you a paper and a marker to make your selections and someone explains all of this to you very clearly. There is water on the table and you can also order soda and other drinks to go with your ramen. I tried the black garlic ramen and it was flavorful. My only concern was the appearance of my mouth. I thought it would turn black but it was fine. I just had the normal bits that got stuck in my teeth. Worth it. The gyoza was also good. The staff was helpful and friendly. They give you the bill and you pay on your way out at the register.

Still the best ramen I've had. Red king is king baby! Thick spicy broth. Great noodles. Great toppings. What else can you ask for? Seated within 20 minutes. I've been to the one in Arcadia mall. They're solid!

Was craving ramen after seeing a movie at AMC so headed over to Ramen Nagi. Even late on a Sunday night before closing, there was still a short line, but it moved fast. The staff members will provide a sheet of paper and marker to record your order while you're waiting. I love how customizable their ramen is - you're able to adjust salt, oil, garlic levels, noodle texture, spiciness, type of meat, etc. Ambiance is bright and casual. I got the black king (squid ink) with the chef's recommended selections and it was delicious and flavorful! It has such a rich peppery and umami flavor and the noodles were cooked to perfection. Ramen Nagi has always been solid and never disappointed. Service is quick and friendly and you pay at the counter before leaving.

This Ramen Nagi location is on the top floor of the Westfield Century City mall. People come here just for tonkotsu ramen. It's that good. They also have a special ramen at each location called "limited king". I think they might have had beef here before! Service is great. There is usually a line outside, and a waiter will come up to you to explain the menu. This is really helpful, especially if it's your first time. The order sheet is nice because you can customize the ramen to your liking. I personally like light salt and thin noodles. Those peppery bean sprouts side dishes on each table are so good. Pro tip: you can ask the server for more if it runs out! Parking at the mall is not free. Be prepared to wait a bit.

Came here on a Friday night and there was a little line going. The restaurant is a little on the smaller side so that's why I assume the wait. Thankfully the wait went by quickly. As we were in line, they go over the menu and let you know how to order with the sheet of paper they give you. I love how customizable it is, but I'm not a fan of the extra charge for adding an egg. Despite that, the ramen was honestly too good and it was still just around $20 so it's not crazily priced like some other places in LA. The staff were efficient and smily, food was delicious, and ambiance was great. Definitely would come back even if there is a little wait.

Love the concept. While we were on queue outside the restaurant, we were handed a pen and a checklist of ingredients that needs to be completed beforehand. A bit of a pressure if you're new to the system and slow :) You get to choose how much salt you want, oil, garlic, thin meat or thick, types of vegetables, type of pork. You can also tick-off any extras you want. Hip and fun stuff for ramen lovers and experts who know exactly what they want; challenging for people like me who don't want to overthink how a good ramen should be done. My two other friends think so, too. I had an Original King Ramen with Chashu (porkloin) and I enjoyed it very much. Ambiance was very oriental which was nice. If you want fast service and know exactly how you want your ramen, this place is for you.

This place never misses. Came the other day with my best friend and it was her first time so I was even more excited. We both got the green king ramen, an order of veggie gyoza, karaage & edamame.. everything was delicious as usual and she enjoyed her first time here. We will be back.

Having enjoyed our experience at the South Coast Plaza location, we decided to try a location much closer to where we live...Century City. Here's what we ordered... Original King Tonkotsu ramen w/egg for extra money: Fantastic Chashu Rice: Excellent Karaage: Pretty good The ramen broth was as good as the SCP location. Service was friendly and efficient. Positive vibe in the restaurant as everyone is enjoying their ramen. We waited in line for about 10 minutes at peak lunch time during the weekend, so it wasn't bad. My only gripe with Ramen Nagi is they charge for extra ingredients like an egg for $2.25. Be prepared to pay for parking and it's not cheap. I paid $17 for about 3.5 hours.

I have been a regular at Ramen Nagi since they opened a few years ago, and it remains one of my favorite Ramen spots. This location can be busy at times and there is almost always a line where you can wait 20-40 minutes during peak hours but they make it easier by providing you an order sheet to customize your ramen while you wait. Once you're seated, the service is extremely fast with your order coming out in a matter of minutes. The atmosphere is vibrant and loud, making for a fun, high-energy dining experience making it worth the wait.

This restaurant chain is from the Bay, which has crazy lines for this restaurant. Overall, it's alright. If you're at Century city mall and have a craving for ramen, it's worth a try. Ramen: - Lots of customizations available, from the firmness of the noodle, type of vegetable, meat, etc - Original king good flavor, thin noodles are similar to hakata ramen noodles - Black king doesn't add much more flavor to the ramen Ambiance / Service: - The line may be long, but it is efficient. The staff give you a menu and order card in line so by the time you are seated the food comes right out

As always, Ramen Nagi hits the spot when you want a solid bowl of well-crafted ramen customizable to your tastes, and some of the most addicting dumplings on the west side. My go to of original is made double as delicious when I add on two tamago, and some gyoza on the side. And I'm always left craving more of their bean sprout appetizer, which I still want to snag the recipe of to make at home. You know it's a solid win when the restaurant is packed despite LA's biggest rain storm of the year. Thank you Ramen Nagi, for being the pick your own ramen of all time.

    Kristy H.

Ramen nagi is one of my solid go-to spots for ramen now. The quality is always consistent and so good, and the service is so quick and smooth. I always opt for the original king with kokuni (pork belly). I've tried the kaarage too, which is pretty good. Also, don't overlook the bean sprouts as a condiment! I treat them almost as a side dish, and they're peppery and very well seasoned and super tasty to have on the side. If I had to be nitpicky with this restaurant, I'd just say I wish there were more noodles and less broth, but overall, it's pretty solid!

Ask the Community - Ramen Nagi

They have free ramen on your birth month in the Philippines. Do they offer birthday bowls in the USA?

    Yes they do! :)

Best day during the week for dinner without a long wait?

I went on a Wednesday and if you get to the store close to opening, there should not be a long line, and if there is it moves quickly.

Is there any ramen without pork broth? Thanks

there is a veggie and a lamb broth

    Do you validate parking?

    Don't think so. Westfield

Is the lamb king always on the menu at this location?

Yes, when they explained the menu to us they didn't mention that it was temporary.

Do they take tables of one?

    yes

    How to make reservations?

No reservations. Just show up. Stand in line. They hand you a personal menu and a marker to choose your kind of ramen, thickness or noodles, topping etc. then wait until something opens up. It moves pretty fast.

Does it have a chicken topping or is it just the pork option?

Just pork! But you can get chicken karaage as an appetizer.

Do you need to make a reservation, and does it accept cash?

Are the ramen noodles made with egg in their ingredients? (I have an egg allergy.)

    Thin noodles use egg.

I must be crazy but i can't find karaage on any of the menus?? what's their price for karaage?

Hi, The chicken is a special. They don't always have it unless that has changed. I can't remember the price but if it is on the menu I highly recommend you order it. Soooo GOOD!

How many can they seat in one party?

the tables are 2 tops so they can put as many together as needed. your whole party must be there before being seated

Is the Booster needed? Also, does kids have to be vaccinated? Thank you.

They currently don't check for vaccination proof

Are there any custom broth options like chicken broth?

Yes there is a veggie broth option. If you look at the photos of the menu, where it says Broth, all the way to the right is a veggie broth option.

Do you need to be vaccinated?

    Yes

    Are you guys dog friendly?

No as they don't have outdoor seating.

    Is the vegetarian ramen vegan?

There is a vegan option but it is a hidden customization, where you would select the Red King but work with one of their staff members to make it completely meatless with no broth (so it is a mazeman style ramen, which is really good...it is spicy… Read more

I remember going here during their grand opening ages ago, did their, back then, super cheap deal with unlimited noodle refill (even further discounted due to the special event day) and eating to the point of barely being able to sit up in the car without throwing up. I have a picture of my brother eating here in middle school with us and then later on in his early 20's. Crazy time lapse, and truly shows what a favorite this place is and it's place in the community. As with all businesses in Little Tokyo, parking can suck (not as bad as K-town, but you're either paying or super circling around). Service is super efficient, welcoming and polite, as with their other locations as well. It's not the biggest restaurant, but none of the Shinsengumis I've been to have been particularly large. With this location, from my first visit, and all the subsequent visits, I always get their Hakata ramen, firmer noodles, since the longer I eat and enjoy the food, they'll soften a bit, less soup oil and less saltiness. I get all of the toppings that it comes with and I always add in a poached egg. Love the strong pork flavor since they stew their broth for so long and the tenderness of the chashu (sometimes I order more). Prices have definitely gone up and a slightly altered upgraded version of this ramen is almost $30 if you're not careful enough. Times have changed but how good this place hasn't. There's more ramen options now than there were like 10 years ago, but Shinsengumi is always a classic.

The tonkotsu is not one of those rich, milky, creamy ones and I personally like these lighter ones more.
