Stopped at Ralph's this past week to buy baking soda. I was taken back that they only had one expensive brand. Then I looked up and saw the Kroger brand on the very top eighth shelf that I thought was only for storage. I then requested help that called for a step ladder and found that baking soda was $2 plus cheaper and had a better expiration date! So when we are looking for cheaper options for our groceries these days Ralph's apparently only looks at their way to make a bigger profit and not the concerns and needs of customers. So always look up when shopping you may find a better deal! read more

This Ralph's grocery store and I go back a ways. Even though our store of choice was the former "Albertsons", (i.e., now soon to be closed Haggens), I frequent this store when in a pinch. Selection is good, deli is commendable, employees are kind, and produce always seems to be of top quality. My two major beefs are as follows: First and foremost is the pi$$ poor parking situation. Shared with multiple other merchants AND the always busy "In and Out Burger", parking here flat out sux, (unless you are making a late nite / early morning visit). Secondly, (and of lesser importance), is the pricing. Always seemed to be noticeably higher than the aforementioned Albertsons, (but not so much so with Haggens). But... I am a creature of habit which ultimately led to my decision to continue patronizing the less geographically desireable "Haggens" store. All that said, until the old Haggens store is reopened by another grocer, Ralph's gets my hard earned dolla. Who knows... Maybe they'll win me over for good. read more

This is a general review of my most recent shopping experience Ralphs on January 9, 2021. This location needs to work on social distancing standards, such as creating markings throughout the store, establishing one way foot traffic, like they do at Albertsons. Shoppers are just piled onto each other. In the beginning of last year, there were only a certain amount of customers let in at a time. This should be done again. The staff in the flower department, the first department you see when you walk in, never greet customers and are always talking amongst themselves about personal stuff, the department is usually supper messy. The point of service is always understaffed with a line of upset customers, and the self check out - again the staff is usually talking with each other, and you have to interrupt them to get service or a bag for your purchase. It seems the be a management issue overall. The Deli is great, clean, staff friendly and the only reason I come to Ralphs. I have been coming to this Ralphs for 30 years, and the past few years have been rough, but I have seen these repeated issues never resolved. read more

Deli ham black lady is so horrible because she's so unkind, lazy and super slow. Pre-packed meats are also not prepared and I haven't seen prepared packs are not ready and it's empty. Anyway I had to wait for 30 mins. Usually it's taking 10 mins in long line. read more

If you're thinking about placing a special order through their Bakery Department, think again. About a week before Christmas, I placed an order for 4 La Brea French Baguettes that would be used for garlic bread for Christmas dinner. I placed the order with a very nice lady -- I believe her name was Kim. She asked me what time I would be picking up my order, and I said 1:00 p.m. on Christmas Eve (they were closed on Christmas Day). She handed me a long yellow receipt and told me to present it when I picked up my baguettes. I left, happy that I wouldn't have to worry about having to find bread on Christmas Eve for the next day. I sent my son to pick up the baguettes at the scheduled time on Christmas Eve. A few minutes later, he called me, telling me that they didn't have my baguettes, that he was told, quote, "SOMEBODY WITH THE SAME PHONE NUMBER ALREADY PICKED UP THE ORDER." Seriously. I told my son to ask them for my long yellow receipt, but that seemed to have also disappeared, along with the baguettes. I called the Floor Manager (her name escapes me). She was very kind and apologetic. I told her that this is the 2nd time I have had problems with the Bakery Department. About 2 years ago, I had called in the morning and asked that they hold two La Brea French Baguettes for me, and that I would pick them up a few hours later. When I arrived, they handed me some awful store brand -- and, of course, they had run out of the La Brea variety. Mea culpa. I should have learned right then and there to not trust that they could actually handle a simple special order. My Christmas Eve baguette saga did end well. My husband was in Torrance that day, and I called him and asked him to zip by Costco and pick up their baguettes, which he did. He fought the Costco crowd and grabbed the needed bread. Bless his heart. :o) I shall NEVER AGAIN place a special order with their Bakery Department. I do not know what their problem is, and at this point I don't care. I am stunned that they made up such a lame excuse about why my baguettes were not there for me. They really need to come up with better lies. While I'm here, I might as well tell you about some bad experiences that I have had with their pork chops and chicken. Their freshness leaves a lot to be desired, always on the verge of stinky. It never smells quite right. Fresh chicken and pork (and beef, for that matter) should not have any scent at all. In fact, if I buy a package of either chicken or pork chops and keep it in the frig for the next day, it has gone bad, has that rotten stench, even though the sell-by date is 4 days into the future. I think they are relabeling OLD chicken and pork packages with NEW sell-by dates. This has happened countless times, and my complaints to management have not helped. I shop everywhere -- Albertson's, Food 4 Less, Smart and Final, Costco, and Sam's Club, and Ralph's is the ONLY store that has this problem. I have actually picked up smelly packages of chicken or pork out of the Meat Department and brought them up front to a manager to show him/her what is going on, and they can smell the stench. I have finally given up purchasing these two items at this store and buy them elsewhere. This store seems to have some serious problems, and it would be nice if Corporate (Corporate, are you reading this post???) stepped in and did something about it. Thank you. read more

I try and try to convince myself to like Ralph's. Currently, the Ralph's on Western has the best hours--open early, close late-- out of all the local grocery stores. I work hard for my money and I don't shoplift. Not because I have some kinda awesome, totally honest moral compass, I won't lie and try to claim nonsense and bullshyte upon myself. However, insofar as shoplifting goes-- I am way too much of a chicken shit for stealing; I'd rather starve. Having said that, I went into the Ralph's at 1050 S Western in "San Peeedro" or "Rancho Palos Verdes" yesterday morning and, as I was punching in my number for my "savings," the little meatball looking woman who works the 6 am shift all of a sudden launched into some weird, inappropriate--like--possessed by a demon rant at me about how she has seen me "lit in the parking lot" [of that Ralphs] and how she knows all about me. HUH. She was rude, waaay off point, and--even if she was talking the truth-- she as a stranger WHO WAS ON THE CLOCK FOR RALPHS, had absolutely zero business speaking to me in any kind of a negative, accusatory or inappropriate way at all whatsoever. She is a cashier who doesn't even bring in old school, pre-strike money and she knows nothing or World Class Customer Service at all. I was embarrassed FOR HER. Biss is not even in Loss Prevention. She is just some crazy woman who woke up on the wrong side of the bed and decided to take it out on a paying customer. Ralph's Management needs to train their Employees simple common courtesy and how to banter appropriately with customers. Pay Management from Jersey Mike's to come on over and give your Employees an Intense WorkShop on how to banter with Guests. Geeze. read more

This store is really gross. I shopped there Saturday 7/15 and spotted a package of sausage Ravioli in the refrigerator case that was over a month past it's sell by date and was completely covered in mold. I gave the package to an employee and said, "this was on the shelf and it's obviously spoiled". I went on to the produce section and purchased a package of organic broccoli and cauliflower. After finding the moldy ravioli I should have been careful about checking dates, but I figured the ravioli was a fluke. Well I just took out the veggies to prep them and I noticed the package looks gross--it's covered in condensation and the broccoli and cauliflower florets look brownish. Upon checking the date, I see the sell by date is 7/6/17. That's 9 days BEFORE I purchased it! EW!!!! Check any fresh foods carefully for expiration so you don't sicken yourself or your family. I'm throwing $3.50 in the trash right now. Of course I didn't keep my receipt, but if they look at my rewards card they can verify the date of purchase. read more

I purchase groceries, through drive up and pick up. It's convenient, due to knee surgeries. I don't understand, why they Do Not put the produce in produce bags, they just throw it in the grocery bags, with everything else. For the past 2 months as I walk into this Ralphs there is always a handful of people not wearing masks. Seems like they just straight up stopped caring about enforcing it. I don't see anyone sanitizing grocery carts anymore, and the hand sanitizer has not been filled at the front door for the past 16-25 times I have entered the store. The care at this store now reflects the sewage smell each morning in San Pedro. Just, sad. read more

The employees that work at this Ralph's are very friendly and helpful. For that I'd give them 5stars. But the reason for my one star is.... -I stopped going on the weekends because they would only have 2-3 checkouts available during busy times. I could spend 20 minutes in line. - The security bars at the entrance are a pain to push your cart through and at times they close down their second entrance. - They can run out of checkout bags. The ones you can purchase for $2 are always available, but really, I buy groceries and have to put $125 worth of individual items out to my car Because someone forgot to order bags? - The heat has been off in this store for at least a month. Last time I went at 7am and shopped as quickly as I could because it was so cold. I feel sorry for the employees! We have so many good choices for groceries here, Sprouts, Traders, and Smart and Final. I'm pretty much done with this Ralph's. read more

I've been shopping at this Ralphs for many years. Today I had a very unfriendly encounter with a cashier. I didn't get her name, I wish I did, but she's in her 30's with dark hair. As I was getting ready to pay I pulled out my cash and out of a bad habit I licked my thumb to count out the money. The clerk became very rude, and condescending to me about it. Rather then just state she's concerned about germs or whatever at which point I could of paid with a card, she instead berated me in front of other people in the store. Asked me rhetorical questions. I was honestly shocked at the way she acted and treated me. Happened today at 2:15pm. It won't happen to me again at this Ralphs as I will no longer be shopping here. I'm going to Albertsons down the street from now on. read more

The pharmacy is the worst. My husband needed a cortisone prescription after a really intense dermalogical treatment. They didn't have the quantity prescribed and said they had to call our doctor and would text. They didnt. Went in the next day. No prescription and none on the horizon. There was absolutely no follow up. And they could have cared less. read more

Wow this Ralph's is really sad, the old ladies working here must absolutely just hate themselves & their lives. I will never ever come back to this Ralph's location, I'll chose to go to any other store but this one & i think I'll stop shopping Ralph's all together. It's crazy how you can be so old & still have an attitude while you are checking people out of line. Why is it even personal, just bag my groceries, every time I come here the older checkers get derogatory. What's bizarre is that you have to push your cart through the entrance which is through bars that completely barricade you inside & at 7:30pm they had the other entrance closed & blocked off so you have to exit where you come in through the bars...it seems as though that should be against some kind of fire code or health safety violation. If they are trying to prevent people from stealing, it's 2018, invest in some security cameras. This store is pathetic. Sad business. read more

Ralphs is one of my new go to store. It's across from my jobs it's convenient. I love the Mac and cheese at the deli, vons does not stand a chance. I love the price on protein bars here they have a huge selection. And from time to time have great deals on frozen meals. I won't ever go into the produce it is a bit overpriced. read more

Really disappointed in our San Pedro Ralph's! Went yesterday and found no precautions being used for Coronavirus. NO one cleaning carts, NO sanitizer wipes, not even a stand for wipes. Not controlling number of people in the store. I left and went to Albertson's where they always controlled people entering. Cleaning carts and having many sanitizing wipes stations, and always full! Also Sprouts controls people entering, they clean carts and have wipes available. Shame on Ralph's San Pedro! read more

Located behind the In N Out off Western Avenue in the city of San Pedro is this Ralphs. IMHO I think Ralphs is a bit on the high end side, and I'd go across the street to Sprouts if I need produce. The plus part of this location is they are open VERY late (past midnight, I believe) and there is plenty of parking, and the store is very well lit. So if I have the need to go shopping at 10:pm, I know that this store is open. I stop here to pick up soft drinks and gift cards. They have self check out kiosks, so I rarely have to speak to anyone. The downside is San Pedro is part of LA County, so you have to BYO grocery bags, or get charged 10c per bag you need. read more

Do not go to this store if you want to be safe. They are no longer cleaning off grocery carts in the parking lot. They either don't have wipes to clean them yourself, or they are out and open all day so they are dried out. Many employees are not wearing masks correctly. I would understand if it was March, but it's September, this has been going on for a long time. You should know how to be safe. Never coming to this store again because I value safety. read more

Ralphs just isn't what it used to be. I don't find The Apprentice to be quite as fresh and now that an Albertsons opened up down the road I find myself for quitting that facility instead. Parking lot gets very crowded quite often. A staff is very friendly and helpful which is the one reason I do come back to this Ralph's. read more

This is the closest grocery store to me. While the inside isn't very large, the prices are the best around. My only complaint is that there is always a super long line. If you are coming to shop here be prepared to wait around for a while. It's a bit disappointing. read more

I've been shopping at Ralphs for a looooong time, and while I'm alive that probably won't change. Unlike Vons, and Albertsons, Ralph's hasn't changed the way they do business, or the way they TREAT PEOPLE... Every time I enter the store, I find it as I did before, (it rhymes!) It feels the same, the people are the same, most things are right where they've always been, and if there is an issue of some kind, they jump to fix it. I can count on the store being clean, well stocked, (and that is no small achievement, in these unstable supply chain times.) Ralph's is my grocery store. Even while I could walk to the Vons in my neighborhood (three blocks away) and I must drive more than a mile to Ralph's, there is no reason for me to go anywhere else. (P.S.) It seems unfair to leave a rant disparaging the entire crew after having an unhappy encounter with one employee having an off day... Every attempt should be made to right the offense(s) at the time they occur, instead of saying nothing, walking away, and then raking the person over the coals in a review that wasn't really meant for such a use. read more

Went to this store yesterday feeling pretty good as a veteran on Memorial day. As i walked in I asked some snot nose little punk where the restrooms were located. He pointed me in the direction half way across the store. I finally get there and the door has a lock box on it! I was wondering why he would send me all the way over there knowing i would need a code to access to the restroom. Any way i find an older really rude lady in the meat department who seemed upset that i asked her for the code. She didn't give it to me. She escorted to the door as if i were some kind of terrorist! I was becoming highly pissed at this point after all i did have a top secret security clearance as i served in the military but as a civilian i couldn't even get access to a public restroom! It's a store like most stores some of the workers don't have much people skills and even when you have pointed out to Manager of your concern , they say yes, we are aware of the problem . Really? Problem never gets corrected. Poor management ,poor worker habits. Parking like most places crowded due to In and Out Burgers across the parking v lot. read more

I utilize this Ralphs from time to time. Really clean, no major arguments. The overall pricing is just OK, no great savings here, so you better enjoy the store experience. Plenty of parking, and I've never had any issue with the checkers being lazy. read more

I really wanted to love this place but it fails in so many ways. The produce is usually pretty sad, and I have had to return more than one loaf of moldy bread that i bought that day. The kicker is that they NEVER have any lanes open and very little bagging help, this means that the 2 lanes that they do have open has lines that wrap around the store. NOT good if you are shopping in a rush or have a child with you. The good news is that the employees are attentive and generally nice, but it's obvious that they are unhappy working there. read more
