Review #866 2025-038 I first discovered Grocery Outlet about a decade ago in Fresno, & was attracted to the unusual finds at a "grocery store," such as an Olaf bike helmet, Curious George: Discovery Beach Game, etc. The first S. Bay store opened 6 years ago in Redondo Beach, just before COVID-19; it's a bit out of way to shop there. And about a year ago, they took over the former Big Lots location in Lomita. What is Grocery Outlet? They're a discount grocery chain that sells name brand groceries & fresh produce for 40% - 70% less than conventional grocery stores. How? By buying overstocked, seasonal, closeout, & discontinued items from various suppliers. This "opportunistic buying" allows them to acquire items at significant discounts, which are passed on to us. My 14 YO daughter's swim team does this away meet "gift" (junk) exchange where they create a goody bag filled with their fav snacks & drinks. They're kids so it's obviously junk foods & sodas, except for the handful who treat each meet with consideration of this bag o' treats may hinder their performance. I'm grateful for the less expensive options at Grocery Outlet. Since I don't agree with their choices, I started creating my own carbo-load sustenance (fresh fruits, granola bars, nuts, etc.) on competition days. Grocery Outlet offer pretty great deals on fresh fruits, I especially loved the 2-lb. strawberry pack that my husband got recently... so fresh, juicy, & sweet! I got some red cherries (at $2.99/lb.) that were sweet too! Not all produce offer better quality & prices, I'd say it's more like 50-50. Another recent find was A-Sha Spicy Seaweed (only 99¢) & Keroppi Mandarin Noodles with Silly Spicy Sauce (60% discount). Store hours are 7:00 AM - 10:00 PM daily, just a couple hours shorter than the traditional stores. Wide aisles are well-stocked & organized, but you may not always find the same products at your next shopping trip due to opportunistic buying, & what may be priced that day may be priced differently the next day (e.g. Quaker Chewy Limited Edition Valentine Minis: Chocolate Chip with Sprinkles was 99¢, & 2 days later it was $3.99). Also, it's important to check the expiration dates for those too-good-to-be-true deals, they usually have a short expiration dates or are already expired. Yikes! There's usually only 1 register opened even when there's a line, I wish they would opened another register, but the cashiers are typically quick that sometimes I have to load my own bags. Sign up for the WOW! Crowd with your mobile number to enter sweepstakes, track savings, & purchase history. Download the app to see what's in store, get access to insider events, & digital offers, including a $5 off $25 coupon at registration. Grocery Outlet may not be our main go-to store, but it's certainly a great back-up to the traditional stores.

Love the organic and healthy options they have here! It's always a treasure hunt and you never know what deals you'll find, but you'll always find something. They carry a lot of the same profits as Whole Foods and sprouts for a fraction of the price.

I came for the Grand Opening this morning! It was a really great event! I missed the ribbon cutting ceremony, but I didn't miss the huge line to checkout!! Parking is free in a spacious lot. Being their grand opening, it was bustling inside the store! Surprisingly, most everyone was actually shopping to buy and not just browsing. The store is pristine & organized, just as it should be since this is a new business! I have been in a number of Grocery Outlet Bargain Market stores, and this one has the familiar look & feel as the other ones. However, I pretty much know the basic things they carry. Each store is independently owned & operated. They also have a limited variety of items unique to their store each week. They aren't always advertised. I like to visit different stores to see what new thing I might find. As I finished shopping, I walked to the back of the store to where the line had wrapped its way to. I was near the yogurt section when I joined the line. The line quickly grew even further back there! To help ease waiting in the humongous line, employees were handing out snacks & water. Don't expect this treatment after today, lol! There was one line & it split to the cashier's lanes once you got closer. It does keep the line moving faster. It took under 10 minutes to reach the cashiers. It wasn't too bad, really! I received a $5 coupon in my email. You have to spend at least $15 to use it. Yay! The one in Redondo Beach is closer to me, so I'll probably keep shopping there unless I am in the Lomita area. It's not that far away! Welcome to Lomita! Thanks for welcoming all the shoppers today with friendly & upbeat staff! That's always going to be a plus!

Shared parking lot

First time to Grocery Outlet and I was pleasantly surprised. Shared parking lot, and the spotsaretight. The location isn't that big, but GO did their best with the layout. Aisles are nice and wide, and there is a great selection of items - mixture of American, Hispanic, and Asian items. There was a nice selection of healthy protein forward items too. Every section is on a smaller scale - produce, meat, bakery, dairy, checkout lanes. Great hours - 7AM - 10PM every day! My checker was very friendly and I plan on returning again. Ok, bye.

The wait is finally OVER. Been so excited since we saw they were going to build one in the Neighborhood. Always heard only good stuff about these and just thrilled we have more options in the area that are affordable and close by the house. Very organized and lots of variety of produce that usually I'd have to go a few extra miles to find like "Jicama". Love the big lettering on the walls to let you know what's there like the "Sip sip Syrah" wine section. Meat section and so on. Love that they re painted the Parking lot section and there's lots of parking in that little shopping center. Their Grand opening was a big crazy and lots going on but will def be back again very soon to really walk the isles and get familiar with our new Grocery Outlet Bargain Market! Lomita is very excited to have ya'll!

Old lemon
Lee H.

Alright today is my final straw with this place and I will not be back. I would rather drive the extra distance and pay extra money than come here again. Bought a big bag of lemons today stupidly didn't grab my receipt because I was in a rush to get back to work. First lemon I grab is horribly molded and old (see picture). I proceed to cut open another lemon thinking it's just that one that's bad.... NOPE! Every single lemon is bad. The store is gross and they don't even have "bargain deals." So it's just worth it even for convenience.

Didn't even bother to have a sign out the door. Didn't announce anything online either. Just a small sign that says "Cash Only" on a cardboard by the register. Once I got all my items and was ready to pay, they told me cash only. It wasted a lot of my time having to leave and get cash from the bank. Good thing I live in the area. You would want to question why it's cash only for an establishment that sells big volume like this. The owners know $1 Wednesdays rake in tons of cash. This is their strongest day out of the week. Why would they not take card as payment? One should really wonder if the owners are really claiming all this on their taxes because cash only has no trace. This time around it wasn't the other workers cashing either. It was the owners and they powered-through the line so fast. They make tons of money here. Also, this time around, they took out half of the bins. It was only a small section of the floor that they opened up and the other half of the room was closed off. Only a small portion of the bins was open and there were tons of people with minimal space/room. Hungry scavengers rudely pulling and yanking items in front of your face with no common decency or courtesy. Just rude old folks throwing stuff around and pushing through you. Just hungry scavengers. I took what I got and left. The male owner is a creep also. I caught him looking a lot of times and when he cashed me out on two separate occasions, he made some side comments and tried to give me free stuff..he was creepy as heck. Quality has certainly gone down. This location used to have really good items. Like the good stuff from big retailers. Now they have pallets of junk they bought from auction with the same repetitive stuff. Stuff they sell on Mondays, can repeat all the way down to the $1 Wednesdays. That is why Wednesdays are always so packed. They don't really clean up the bins either. It's dirty, messy, and cluttered. Be careful not to cut yourself because I've seen broken glass in the bins before but they don't care to look through them and clean it out. It's the same repetitive items the entire week. They try to squeeze every little dollar with the same items throughout the week. It only changes once they replenish it again. Empty cartons, opened and ripped up items, packaging all torn, pieces missing. Most of everything is garbage and trash and I'm surprised people buy them just because they're $1.

Yes, most people go in to this business to get there household items, and maybe a few bits of food and drink. But, this store is much more than that. They have a ton of the everything else. Located on PCH, at the building that once house the ninety-nine cent store, this business is easy to find. It's right on the corner of Narbonne. The parking lot is large, so you generally never have a problem finding a parking spot. This being said, this parking lot can sometimes be a bit congested, with a few people driving not that consciously. Just something to keep in mind. What's inside this store is all very well organized. They have their aisles devoted to very specific items. Whether you're looking for small electronic items, maybe something for your car, and the tons and tons of the other kinds of household items they offer, it's all very well put together. Overall, this shop is a great place to get all of those necessary and non-necessary items at a great price.

Review #883 2025-056…read more What can you write about Dollar Tree? By now, most have heard of this store that was often compared with 99 Cents Only Store since they, as a discount variety store, have similar pricing strategies & product lineups. With inflation, COVID-19, & other factors, Dollar Tree is no longer a "dollar" store instead its price base is $1.25 + higher prices for certain consumables & name brands. Still, DT offers decent value... then there's the "thrill-of-the-hunt" shopping experience, which I haven't found at this location yet. This location replaced the defunct 99 Cents Only Stores; it looks the same with similar inventory of snacks, food, home goods, health & beauty items, toys, school supplies (gotta love them low cost composition books), party & seasonal supplies, etc. It's fairly organized but not as well-stocked as its predecessor. Dollar Tree has most of their (junk food) munchies & drinks available, not that I agree with their choices but these bags supposedly builds camaraderie. I like that it's next to Grocery Outlet so when I can't find snacks here, I can walk next door to finish up. When we adopted a 5-week stray kitten (my cousin was spaying/neutering a feral colony in the neighborhood) a couple of months ago, I found some cat toys (fishing rod, crinkly ketchup & mustard) for Snow's entertainment. The rod didn't fare well, but what can you expect for $1.25? I came back & didn't find any in stock. =( Recently, I've been laid off & stopped by for Halloween goody bags & candies for my son's class. I'm not a fan of these goody bags but it's common practice & I don't want my son to be that kid that didn't participate. I liked 99¢ Store better because they also offered erasers, pencils, sticker packs, etc. so I'm not giving candy only... though I'm partial to Haribo gummies & Smarties. Oh, if you're having a party, this location also sells balloons, they don't have Party City's variety but what they offer works IMO. Come to Dollar Tree for affordable everyday essentials. It's convenient & budget-friendly, particularly if you're feeling the strain of inflation/the economy.

Household goods, kitchenware, arts and crafts, school supplies, party supplies, hardware supplies, tools, food and snacks, cleaning products, etc. Although they have tons of items, there's a few things they need to correct here. Items that are not tagged can be tricky. The cashier can charge you at any price on the spot and you wouldn't know unless you ask. What looks like a dollar can be more. Inflation and tariffs are definitely hurting the pocket. You also can't go back inside once you've paid. If you bought something already and checked out, you can't go back inside unless you leave your items up front. Maybe they've had issues with theft before or miscommunications with items. The cashier was friendly however, she was nice about it. Just strange practices but I get it, it's a small business and people probably steal here. EDIT: Came back here again shortly after. Cashier Julie was not nice and needs to be more friendly. Different cashier than the first one. She's a F!l!p!no lady. Kind of snooty and arrogant. Didn't smile nor said hello. When I spoke to her in Tagalog, she acted like she didn't hear me and responded back in English. The other guys that stock here are nice however. We needed an empty box to put all our stuff in but he took it from us to bring it up to the front before we can use it. This small store is a bit strict.
