I come here a lot for the convenience and because they have a markdown section I like to go to everytime I come because sometimes you get the best finds for lower prices. The store is usually fairly cleans and the employees are friendly. There used to be an employee I thought had the worst customer service but I think she's gone because in haven't seen her in years. They always have great deals if you know how to shop and look for them. It's important to look for these since everything seems so expensive these days. There is signage posted that the deli closes at 8pm. The last two times I've visited the deli between 7pm-7:15pm, everything was packed up. The first lady explained to me they were short staffed so she had to close early so she could get off on time, but she still asked me what I wanted and was nice enough to go to the back and get it anyway. The second lady said the same thing - they were short staffed - but didn't offer to do anything and had an "oh well" attitude. I've now wasted gas and two trips to the deli that's supposed to be OPEN UNTIL 8PM like the signage says. I feel for the workers wanting to get off on time and the store being short staffed, however, that is not the problem of the consumer. Ralph's should adhere to their deli times and figure this out, or change the times so we're not inconvenienced. If I arrive at 7pm, there's no excuse for everything being packed up an hour early. 10-15 minutes I understand, but an hour is ridiculous. read more

March 12 - Very bad experience in the meat department today. I asked an employee named Brendan to help me find a specific cut of beef because I do not understand the different cuts. Instead of helping me, he became rude and started swearing and using profanity toward me. I was simply asking for assistance as a customer. I had such a really good experience at the bakery department it deserves a review. My son had his 8th birthday party and he loves Minecraft. The minecraft cake along with the cupcakes was a hit and it turned out amazing, and quality was top tier. The person who helped me his service was excellent. He was also patient, kind and went above and beyond! He carefully packaged and put on all the cake topper minecraft decorations on the cake, which I am glad he did. He did such an amazing job on the cake it caught the attention of one of the employees clearing the carts. He thought the cake was soo cool, amd mentioned this will be a birthday your son will remember for years to come. read more

Only thing good about this store is the pharmacy. Eggs for $12 that expire in one day, cartons were wet. Does anyone check dates or condition of products? Self Check out is a joke. Employees just stand around. Conveyer belt was broken and was moving in opposite direction. I asked for assistance and they could not be bothered. Ignored us and walked away! Somehow Annabelle, at check stand 10 this morning charges me $98 of the customers order that was directly in front of me. When I bring it to the attention of staff, she for whatever reason thinks that's a good time to blame ME for her mistake. Saying that I distracted her somehow by me putting the divider to separate my order from the person in front of me. To some people $98 for food I didn't even buy might not break the bank, but for me, (a combat veteran with severe PTSD) and everything is planned down to the penny, every second, of every day, for the whole month to survive, is a very big deal. And now my heart is racing, skin cold and clammy, because if the money doesn't come back to my card fast, I'm screwed. And to be told that it was my fault, made my blood boil. I'll give it to her, she tried to back track once I was visibly annoyed. Doesn't change the fact that her Customer service, very poor. A few weeks ago I ordered some items online for pick up. I opened the app at the scheduled pick up time and it said to come to the store. Upon arrival I found the 4 slot parking area for pickups taken by 3 cars but they were parked in such a way I could not fit. The slots were so narrow so even if they were parked correctly I don't think I could fit anyway & I have a normal size car. This created an issue because now I would have to go in to get the groceries because there was no parking I really did not want to because I have a badly injured knee. I parked in the handicap slot as I have a placard and walked in to pick them up in person-saving them a walk to the car. I found the young frazzled brunette working the area and gave her my name to pick up the purchase. She immediately went into a tirade how "she called me twice" and "you didn't pick up and "its not ready". I responded calmly-no she didn't call to which she became angry and defensive and continued to repeat the same items quoted above like it mattered. It didn't. The only calls I got were labeled "SPAM" not Ralphs and this FACT was shown to her and 2 other people at Ralphs that day. I will never pick up spam calls. Just a thought~ Shouldn't the CORRECT RESPONSE HAVE BEEN-"I am so sorry the order is not ready. I tried to phone, but was unable to get through. I will get it now. Thank you for waiting" The young woman berated me a few more times for "not listening to the message she apparently left" and it was clear her only focus was PROVING she called me (which did not matter) rather than providing good service in the present moment which would entail saying the sentence above. It was glaringly obvious the fact that I stood there in person near her waiting for my items bothered her as she ran to say bad things about me to the woman at the Starbucks rather than attend to the order I made hours earlier. All I was doing was standing there. I was fine standing there and I was not making demands or doing ANYTHING sordid but was being treated as if I was a bother for standing. The woman at the self check IDA I think was her name was giving me a dirty look as well and I asked for the manager as I was so upset I decided I wanted a refund. She lied and said she was the manager so I looked at my phone and showed her that I got no calls from ralphs and rather than agree and say "No you didn't get any calls from Ralphs I'm sorry about that" she rudely said "I heard all of it and your order is not ready and rolled her eyes like I was the issue. " I felt ganged up on. Shouldn't IDA'S response have been "I am so sorry for your experience I will get the manager." I was also told I HAD to go back to my car and move to the usual pick up area to which I told them I could not as people were double parked . In addition, that would be double-triple the walking on my knee as I already was forced to walk in for a drive up order. I was already there and I was willing to do the job I paid them to do just to get out of there. It is clear Ralph's is failing in their training. I was not in any way being difficult but I was being made to feel I was a "Karen" of sorts because of RALPH"S employees failings. I was not rushing anyone or demanding anything. When I discovered my groceries were not ready as the app promised and at the agreed upon time-I just said fine "I'll wait and talk to the manager in the meantime." The manager Mike did come and he was a bit of an odd Duck. Although appropriately apologetic he lacked the ability to read the room. He was behaving as if I was a screaming lunatic and needed to be talked down i.e. deescalated- offering to show me pictures of his wife and asking me my hobbies-how weird is that? All I wanted to do was get the hell out of there with the stuff I PAID for and pour a glass of wine to toast the end of proper customer service. Thank gawd for Albertson's. Horrible leadership and Management. Shawna, what a joke. It's to easy to report this place for improper food handling. Im quite sure the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the California Department of Public Health, CDFA Milk and Dairy Food Safety Branch and local health departments wouldn't be happy if they paid them a visit. First, the good. I've been a Ralph's customer for many many years and it's so convenient for me to go there and now I've got the convenience of their pharmacy, which is great. Also, their produce is very good. The meat department is very good and they have just about every item and any other grocery store would have. The not so good. Not a fan of the bakery items Isee too many ingredients in the list. there are a few exceptions I've noticed on the "private selection"labels for some things. it looks to me like there's some kind of a genius making the pies for the private selection department. As far as I'm concerned these are concoctions, with all kinds of extra things thrown in which are basically garbage. I go to stores where I can get real traditional pies like Sprouts. sprouts, knows how to make traditional like your grandmother's pies. The pie crust is so important Sprouts, does a great job on that and Ralph does a terrible job. Ralphs pie crust taste like spongy, mush. every time I end up scraping those crusts off and just taking whatever filling is left and putting it in a dish as a leftover. With sprout pies, you could eat the crust all by themselves and they're delicious. with Ralphs, pie crust, I could gag on it read more

There's a gentleman there, George, who has such a great attitude. everyone knows his name, and everyone always smiles when they talk to him. Quite disappointing tonight. Store hours on the door shows that they close at 1 AM. No, not really. I got there at 12:54 AM, because I worked the night shift and on my way home, I was going to pick up dinner. I rushed out of work to get to Ralph's to pick up a steak. I was really wanting a steak. I got to Ralph's on Western in San Pedro, ran to the door and was met with this vicious crusty security woman. "WE ARE CLOSED", she proclaimed!! I replied, but it's only 12:54. Again she proclaimed, "WE ARE CLOSED!" At which time, two individuals, one was in a wheelchair who were leaving the store, said that they had everything in their cart ready to check out, but the registers were closed so they couldn't make their purchase. What the heck? If Ralph's advertised that they are open until 1AM, then that is what it should be. It's the management that are making the decision to close early. We went shopping this afternoon and my mom loves discounted and clearance items. Ralph's is selling the pies like this. At this point they should be burned. Who runs that store and makes these decisions?? It's less than $5 but still a rip off selling inedible food to customers!!!!! The audacity to take advantage of the community just to make few bucks off an inedible pie. The meringue is like styrofoam and the lemon filling is layered and crumbling. This is my Ralph's! I truly appreciate that their stock is usually full so that I get the food items that I like here. The prices can sometimes be kind of high, so I recommend using the Ralph's app to utilize the coupon clipping on it. The cashiers are always really helpful and greet you as you are being rung up. I'm glad that this is so local to where I am as it is an easy place to grab and get what I need. read more

If I could give this place zero stars I would, typically you aren't checking all your grocery bags as you walk out or step into your car, but coming here you should. You know what most people need when they go shopping? A cart or basket to hold their groceries. You know who doesn't know that? Ralphs. There was not a single cart or basket to be found for customers to use. None out front, none under the registers, employees couldn't point me toward one. Not like it was crowded and they were all being used either; store was half-empty. This was especially frustrating because there were 4 carts full of go-backs, and every register had an "end cap" made up of baskets full of impulse buys. It's very clean & in a beautiful area of town and one thing I really love about this store since these days in San Pedro if u are a person that has to do there shopping and and run arons at later hours then the day shift most people must be on since no where is open at all after midnight anymore but guess what this store is open to 1am so don't stress thank the Lord or Ralphs because they are still open. A lot of you may be unaware but Ralph's has a fish fryer located in its seafood department where they are able to fry your purchased fish absolutely free... well except this location... any & everytime I've gone up here or called for the service... they always have an excuse why they can't... such as.. 'I'm the only one here'...' we don't have it on and it takes 30 mins to warm up' ... 'we are servicing it today' but all in true... they just don't want to offer us a service that they should and are equipped to do. read more

This store never fails to disappoint. From the frequently horrible smell as you enter to the the daytime stocking of goods. I suspect the foul odors originate in the not so fresh fish department. Navigating the aisles is often difficult to the mindless stocking of goods at inconvenient hours. What happened to the midnight stocking of items of the past? I ordered the cupcakes for my son's this Friday's basketball game on Tuesday morning. I have written receipt with my name and phone number. ( I still have it now). But when I went to store tried to pick my cupcakes, the staff told me my cupcakes were taken by someone has same name of mine already. I couldn't believe it, What? WITHOUT receipt ??? Someone picked up my cupcakes??? So I don't have my cupcakes, what should I do? I talked to the store manager, she said," you can pick up something else for free, because it only $9.00..." Excuse me, this is not how you trade your customers. I don't want free cakes, I want my custom made cupcakes I ordered... the manager is unkind, honestly, she doesn't care, she doesn't want the staff who is working at bakery department apologize to us. This Ralph's grocery store and I go back a ways. Even though our store of choice was the former "Albertsons", (i.e., now soon to be closed Haggens), I frequent this store when in a pinch. Selection is good, deli is commendable, employees are kind, and produce always seems to be of top quality. My two major beefs are as follows: First and foremost is the pi$$ poor parking situation. Shared with multiple other merchants AND the always busy "In and Out Burger", parking here flat out sux, (unless you are making a late nite / early morning visit). Secondly, (and of lesser importance), is the pricing. Always seemed to be noticeably higher than the aforementioned Albertsons, (but not so much so with Haggens). But... I am a creature of habit which ultimately led to my decision to continue patronizing the less geographically desireable "Haggens" store. All that said, until the old Haggens store is reopened by another grocer, Ralph's gets my hard earned dolla. Who knows... Maybe they'll win me over for good. read more
