In addition to her overall demeanor, I used a coupon for orange juice and she acted as if I was committing a crime and started ranting about what size the oj had to be to qualify for the coupon. Been shopping here for over 15 years and they have steadily gone downhill. The isles are so crowded you can't navigate without having to pull aside to let customers going the other way by. And with the addition of pickup service the employees filling orders are always running you over or blocking the isles. Today for about the 6th week in a row they have had no organic cucumbers, organic sugar snap peas and the organic gala apples were soft. The produce are always empty or hard to find. The entire produce section is poorly stocked. When I told the checker about the cucumbers and sugar snap peas she had no idea what sugar snap peas were. She thought I wanted the roasted ones that come in a chip bag! And after that she had zero concern about my inability to get what I needed. She started telling the bagger she got invited to someone's house for a birthday party. Then while getting lotto tickets I heard what was the manager on the business phone with someone. He was talking in such a patronizing and condescending tone both me and the man at the DMV machine turned and looked at him at the same time. Always understaffed. On top of that, I'm convinced a lot of the staff use weaponized incompetence so you'll bag your own groceries. If you don't, then expect your chips to be crushed, bread to be smashed, and packages to be torn open by the time you're done at checkout. Go somewhere else. I've been coming to this Ralph's for the past 5 years and I never thought I would ever deal with an altercation here. An older white male intentionally blocks the road walking towards Ralph's. Blocking this other car and getting in the front of the car making crazy signal. I waited for him to cross only for him to also get in front of my car and make crazy signals to me. I try to drive away from the situation and he intentionally hits my side mirror in and I don't doubt he only felt comfortable to do so because I'm a short woman and felt like I wouldn't do anything about it. I didn't honk or anything I waited for him to pass and I get this ?? I confront him and he runs inside Ralph's like a punk as if it's my fault he's being a menace out front. I don't care what this guy is going through I no longer feel safe in this area. I will never be coming back here. I dealt with the traffic and busyness of this shopping center but this draws the line. The aisles are so crowded full of displays and crap that only one cart going one way can pass. It's impossible to concentrate on shopping when you constantly need to move your cart out of the way so another person can go by. This is the worst shopping experience I've had in years. Holy moly, this place gives me anxiety with how much stuff is packed into the store. On top of that the people that work here seem like they wanna shoot you as a patron because they just don't wanna have to deal with you. And you will have issues because you won't know where anything is and you also don't know how to check out because the system they use is made by somebody who apparently does not know how to use computer computers or modern technology. I had a very positive experience on the day before Thanksgiving. I live in Scripps Ranch, which has two Vons which I don't like but regularlyused because there aren't too many other options close by. I looked online for who would have a coconut cream pie and Ralph's came up. I was amazed at the bakery selection. And I picked several things which had big discounts if you were a member. A nice lady, I wish I got her name, helped me set up an account on my iPhone. The checkout clerk was also very pleasant. It was worth the extra trek over the Scripps Ranch Vons stores. read more

This place would normally be a 5 star except for five months ago...something happened. And the fruit & veggie section for organic just about flatlined. I'd be shopping everyone would be bitchin' about it, and then I started seeing fewer and fewer people. Every time I go, the cashier's are crankier and I'm bagging my own groceries at prime time. Now, I see fewer people shopping at prime time. I've been shopping at other stores to supplement what Ralph's can't provide. I'm so done with this store. Literally years of everytime I go in I get overcharged. On my last trip alone here are examples: Little Smokies charged $4.99 instead of $2.99 Avacados charged $3.49 instead of $2.49 Jif charged $7.99 instead of $2.77 Ziplock Bags charged $3.79 each instead of 2 for $4 The avacados they said was a digital deal but the sign just gave the lower price. Not only are all the errors always in their favor the check out people are rude to you if you point it out. They also don't fix the issue. Your loss prevention has lost you a customer. I hate having to check out my personal care items separately. Let me have my damn toothpaste. Not only that but I checked my personal items out at the counter, paid for everything, and then pushing my cart out the wheels locked, jarring my injured arm, BEFORE any beep or warning so I was going at full speed, not expecting it to suddenly stop. Not ok. Not to mention the only reason I took a cart in the first place was there are never any hand baskets - now it makes sense, they invested a lot into these stupid locking wheel carts and want to force you to use them. Nothing works properly, you're causing horrible shopping bottlenecks, and honestly this is the closest store to other errands I run but I would rather go miles out of the way to avoid this experience. I generally like this supermarket--it's been my go-to for a while. But lately, the bakery section seems to be on a "my way or the highway" vibe. We used to get fresh bread as early as 6:00 AM, which was perfect for early risers. Now? It's 7:30 AM and still nothing on the shelves. Meanwhile, Vons is stocked by 5:00 AM. FACE COVERING MANDATORY. I'm a fan of this location mostly because of the proximity it is to where we live, and that I usually come here when we are in need of a sandwich fix. Usual thing we do is to go to the deli counter, which closes before 9PM; order the deli meats we want for our sandwiches, and then go grab the other items we need, while the team prepares it for us. There's a basket they put it at in front, after you tell them you're going to walk around; so not much of a wait unless you ordered a bunch. Things I usually grab: Dave's Bread, Light Mayo, and chips. Occasional veggies. Careful not to mistake cabbage for lettuce! I did that the first time. Pretty quick visit, as I go through the self service line, scan my ralphs card and I'm on my way. Parkings plentiful, as this Ralphs is within a large plaza with others. read more

I bought a crumb cake, and 2 half pies. The crumb cake was not NY but good. I thought having 2 different pies for a small dinner party was creative. The crust of the apple pie was soft and the peach crumb pie bottom was mushy. We picked at the fillings and threw the rest away. I regret not saving it for a refund. read more

I use to like this store. My last visit was terrible. I have cancer and my chemo is through a portable pump connected to a port in my chest. The adhesive that holds the tube in place was starting to come off. It was late at night but Ralph's is open until 1:00a.m. There is an aisle that they lock up at night. Unfortunately, the bandage stuff was in this aisle. Every time, I shop there they let someone in if they need something. I asked if I could please be let in to get some large band aids. I was told NO. It it obvious that I am sick (my chemo pump is worn like a purse). I explained why I needed some large band-aids. He said NO that he can't unlock the aisle. I know they have a protocol and I was asking to go against it. I was hoping for some kindness and good customer service. I should have asked someone else. This young man was at the self check out and I found him to be not very helpful in the past (like I was bothering him if I had a question). I finally started shopping at the Stater Bros. near my house and was shocked at how much easier it was to shop without all the restrictions and cluttered aisles. The shelves were fully stocked, the employees friendly and I didn't have any restrictions when shopping for alcoholic beverages or over-the-counter drugs or toothpaste/shampoo, etc. The best part was the easy access to fully staffed checkout stands with a cashier and a bagger without being pushed to do self-check-out. read more

Lines are always short and parking is readily available. I like the quality of the means they provide as well as the produce. prices are always reasonable and competitive with their competitors. This Ralphs is smaller in size than the newer one in 4S Ranch or the expanded Ralph's in La Jolla. The result is that aisles are narrow and really cannot support two-way traffic during the current pandemic ... and the aisles are not marked for one-way flow. Off-shelf displays further restrict flow in the aisles. I stopped here today because it was convenient to my shopping swing ... and it had two ice cream flavors that we wanted! I used the self checkout, and there was a barrier between each self checkout terminal. For some unknown reason, I and others had to wait for the attendant cashier to swipe her id card so we could complete credit card payment. Masking is mandatory, Parking was fine in the shared lot. I stopped by today after a quick visit to Costco close by. I've been to this Ralphs years ago when my cousin used to live in the area. I think they remodeled it as the interior looks redone. I think a lot Ralphs are using the same re model as other Ralphs looks exactly like this one. Parking was easy this mid afternoon. They are in the same plaza as El Pollo Loco and McDonalds. It's a nice set up. Fruits on the left; bakery to the right; milk and meats in the back. They have 'ok' sales. Nothing to 'wow' about but still better than paying full price. I bought 5 corn for $2 (but I think I've seen it as low as 5 for $1 here or other super markets). I found my items easily. A nice employee directed me when he noticed I looked lost. Love the self check out. They had about 6 of them which was great. Guy working there was great as he helped me when certain items kept coming up as errors. Once, I had to wait a long time at the deli department before being helped, as no one was behind the counter to serve the customers. I have been shopping at this Ralph's store for nearly 30 years. Recently their prices have really spiked and the quality and quantity of foods has gone down significantly. Today when I was shopping in the produce area I noticed that the one pound strawberries did not weigh 1 pound. When I mentioned this to an employee he simply replied "what do you want me to do about it." Then I decided to mention it to the manager but when I was speaking to her she was called away and simply walked away to help somebody at the self check out area. I will be taking my business to Sprouts and Stater Brothers in the future. I am fortunate to be able to make that choice. However many people in low income housing that is nearby have only Ralphs as their main grocery store. What a shame that their practices will make such a negative difference in the household budget of such individuals and families. read more

The people are super nice, so I have no issues with that. This review is on the quality of flowers. I was in a morning rush, so ran in and looked around the floral area. While quantity was high, quality was average. I decided on some young tulips. $9, which is above average price compared to Trader Joe's or Vons, but I was in a rush. My review is specifically about their bakery. I honestly believe they think by overloading a cake recipe with sugar makes it better. There needs to be a balance of all ingredients to make a great cake. After trying several over many years we have come to the conclusion that this is their intension. Just pile on the sugar. The last one we tried was a red velvet cake. The frosting was not the sweat cream cheese with a touch of vanilla and cocoa. More like a heavy sugar loaded cream cheese. The red cake was also over loaded with sugar to the point it was just not edible. We can never buy another. We are done trying them thinking it was a one time error.
