14.9 Oz Fat from "trimmed" try-tip at Ralph's. That was almost 25% of the weight!!
John M.

DON'T buy trimmed tri-tip here. You pay a bit extra for trimmed versus untrimmed, so seems like it is worth it. However, Ralph's does not trim the "trimmed" tri-tip. What they do is trim one side and then wrap it up with the full fat cap underneath. It looks like it is trimmed and you think you are getting a nicely trimmed 3.78 pound slab of meat. Perfect size for the number of people the wife and I were having over for a barbecue. Well I took out the tri-tip about an hour before I wanted to start grilling to spice it up. I was shocked when I flipped it over there was that huuuge fat cap. I went ahead and started to trim that fat off. Ten minutes later, I had 14.9 ounces of fat on the cutting board. That is almost a pound. That is 3 people's servings that I had planned for. I did not have time to go get some more meat, so we added extra sides, with items we had on hand, to make sure all had enough to eat. What a scam. The sad thing is that I have experienced this a couple times at the Ralph's on Camino Real and I made the mistake of forgetting this happened at another Ralph's. The El Camino Real location is walking distance from my house and I drive to Albertsons or Pavilions to avoid shopping at Ralph's. Don't Go. Don't buy "trimmed" tri-tip at Ralph's. Go somewhere else. Have fun!!

Make sure you weigh all the packaged produce you are buying. The berries in bought recently was off by 1.5 oz per package.

I came in here to find my favorite chips because they were out of them at Gelson's. They are low fat Ruffles but they don't have them here either, bummer. I found some other low fat snacks though but the line was ridiculously long.

When you request sliced roast beef and swiss cheese and get 1/4" thick tiles of meat & cheese.

How much longer is this store gonna last? Every week it becomes increasingly difficult to find regularly purchased items, the shelves are severely lacking and last night I went to the meat dept to buy a nice filet mignon and was directed to the prepacked meat area. I wanted a big one, these were all small and thinner than I like but figured I would just eat two of em. The amount of sinew in my steak was obscene...for those who don't know, sinew is a piece of tough fibrous tissue uniting muscle to bone or bone to bone; a tendon or ligament. It is NEVER present in a filet mignon so the meat dept at this Ralphs is officially horrific. Oh and the ever-smiling deli gal can't even use the slicer right, see pic. Their pricing on most items is off the hook, you get half as much for double the price compared to their competitor a block away. Sad to see but it seems likely this location is destined to close because everyone I spoke to agrees it is a shadow of its former self. Went to buy milk too and the inventory was scheduled to expire on the same day I was shopping. Looked behind it...all expiring immediately. Now that's just bad management. I won't be returning after this. When they close I hope a decent grocery store replaces em.

Most Trader Joe's that I've been to are located in the suburbs or in the middle of the city. This…read moreone was outside of downtown San Clemente in a nice neighborhood inside of a strip mall. March is definitely spring season and there were so many fresh flowers at store front. Picking up groceries was mainly the purpose of the day. From snacks to salads to basically anything you might have forgotten in your toiletry bag. Price is always right, service from all clerks and cashiers are very consistent whenever you visit any Trader Joe's in any state. What I didn't expect to see was crowds and crowds of customers at this location, and the store clerks were extra friendly. Also bought a bunch of reusable canvas bags to use on the way home and more to give away as gifts. Trader Joe's is always a must go whenever on the US Mainland.

I live in Irvine, and I stopped by the Trader Joe's in San Clemente while visiting the outlets. The…read moreservice I experienced there was completely unacceptable. The staff came across as dismissive, unfriendly, and openly irritated toward customers. In particular, the male employee at the first display was extremely rude and spoke to customers in a very unpleasant, condescending tone. His attitude alone completely ruined what had been a good day for me. As an Asian customer, I couldn't help but feel like I was being treated differently, which is deeply concerning. This kind of behavior is not only unprofessional but also raises serious questions about how customers are being treated. The contrast with the Irvine locations is striking--the staff there are consistently friendly, respectful, and hardworking. The San Clemente store clearly falls far below that standard. Management seriously needs to address this and provide proper staff training.

I had a wonderful experience at The Cellar and was honestly surprised to see a negative review…read moreabout a server's "attitude," because that was the complete opposite of what I witnessed. The owner has created an incredible space warm, intimate ambiance, an outstanding food menu, and one of the best wine selections I've seen in a long time. Everything felt thoughtful and elevated without being pretentious. Our server, Tatum was professional, attentive, and extremely patient. I happened to be seated nearby during an interaction with a group of women who were openly rude and condescending toward her from the start. Despite that, she remained calm, polite, and handled herself with grace. If anything, she showed remarkable composure under unnecessary pressure. Service jobs aren't easy, and it's disappointing when unfair situations get misrepresented online. Based on what I personally observed, Tatum did nothing but her job and did it well. Highly recommend The Cellar for the food, wine, atmosphere, and overall experience. We'll absolutely be back.

Everyone else had similarly great experiences with their food. Loved this and hope to be back someday.
