I had a question regarding bakery items, and especially for halva. The lady behind the counter was soo nice and helpful. Using my american farsi she was able to help me without judgment and guide me. Pro tip: you can order halva 2-3 days prior and have it made in small individual servings depending on quantity of people . For non persians reading this: God forbid someone has a funeral, memorial service, celebration of life, "halva " is something that is served along with "khorma" dates with walnuts. People like me, dont know how to make it. So its nice to know if that time comes and its needed , its an option to order ahead of time and have the custom items for our tradition to be available. The guy at the cheese/deli counter was also super helpful with me when ordering my feta bulgar cheese. We love our cheese, with walnuts. So since i was trying this one out, i decided to get a small size with the water in a separate container. Overall i like it here. Only issue, is the pricing. Mission ranch market a few miles down is more cost efficient and lower in cost for the value compared to here. So if you need to grab some items its worth coming here as it's closer. But if you are looking to go full in grocery shopping, i think MR market is better in terms of value and quality. Id come here and see for yourself.

I had a specific order that I requested around 7:00 a.m. Octavio asked for my name and told me it would be ready around 8:00 a.m. I even tried to tell him not to worry about it and that I would just request it when I returned later. I ended up coming back around 11:00 a.m., asked about my order, and was pleasantly surprised to find that it had been filled and was ready for me! What amazing customer service and follow-through! Honestly, I shouldn't have been surprised because the butcher team consistently comes through for all of my requests--whether it's specific pork chops, burger grind, or other special cuts. The entire Stater Bros. team consistently exceeds my expectations. I even witnessed a manager helping the restocking team. When someone thanked him, he simply said, "I'm helping out." That really says a lot about the culture and teamwork in this store. Thank you, Octavio, and thank you to the entire butcher team for always taking care of your customers. It is wonderful to see several familiar employees here whom I recognize from other stores. The entire management team is exceptionally friendly. The store manager, Jason, is one of the most professional and welcoming managers I have ever encountered. Maurice, the previous manager, is also fantastic. I have never had a single issue at this store; the entire staff is wonderful. On top of the great service, Stater Bros. consistently offers the best prices of any grocery chain. And when I say small, I mean it's very compact--only single file to get in and out, with the aisles running parallel to the front counter. Since I'm not very familiar with Mexican groceries, half of the items were new to me, but they had coffee, honey, paper goods, some fruits and vegetables, and more. As we were leaving, we noticed a small table with various produce items, including cactus leaves. An older gentleman, who was just finishing up with a customer, was behind the counter. Friend: "Excuse me, what is this?" (Pointing to a small, round green fruit in a box on the table) Me: "That is for juice, for drinking..." Cool. As we left the market, I saw the same gentleman exit through a side door and start ladling a liquid mix into a Styrofoam cup. He waved me over and handed me the cup, which surprised me by being warm. "This is made once a year for her..." he said, pointing to a memorial for a woman that I could partially see on the right side of the store. At first, I thought it was a ceremonial drink in honor of a family member or friend who had passed away. The drink contained the fruit we'd seen on the table and chunks of sugar cane. I wasn't sure what it was called or what else was in it. When I tried to eat the fruit, I was met with a mouthful of tiny seeds (Note to self: don't eat the fruit pieces). The drink itself was mild in flavor and not very sweet. VH took a sip and made a face--she can be quite dramatic, so I didn't take her reaction too seriously. LOL I liked the shop! Actually feels like a place you can take your time and look around without wanting to rush out. Fruits and vegetables have very competitive pricing compared to places like Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Market, which is rare. Usually you get either "interesting selection" or "good prices," not both. Jordan's on my regular rotation grocery run rotation now. If you're nearby and want European or Middle Eastern groceries without dealing with a run-down spots that smell like rotten meat - give it a try.
