This used to be an excellent store. But they have replaced all the cashiers with self-checkout which means they only have one cashier open with about 10 customers in line. If I wanted to self checkout I would go to a discount supermarket. It is very sad to see the store go down hill so quickly. They are really turning off a lot of customers with their self service mandate. read more

The lines used to move quickly, but with the regular registers they eliminated and the 12 new self checkout kiosks they added its chaos if you have a cart full of stuff and don't want to use the stupid kiosks. Time to find a new place to shop. read more

I was surprised to find a lot of different ethnic ingredients at Ralph's. They also had so many varieties of organic and non GMO products.

This is the single most gigantic grocery store I've seen in my life. It looks clean, feels, clean; and has the advantage over all other area stores of carrying the only potato chip flavor I'll spend money on anymore: Kettle brand's Maple Bacon Chips. A bit out of my way; but so what, it's worth the trip out, especially when I make it a combined lunch or dinner stop at the Del Taco in the front of the parking lot; then follow that by shopping at Ralph's, a happy day all the way around. read more

All the employees are very helpful and friendly, esp. Pam, Connie, Jose, Linda, Carmen, Sadie, etc. I like how it's spacey, clean, we'll-stocked, and I can breathe shopping comfortably with lots of space (perimeters too). And if there are two customers waiting they usually open up another check-out. I also love their flowers and fresh fruit department. There's also lots of room for parking too. read more

Went in to order 5lbs of catfish and the lady that helped me was rude and obnoxious. She gave me an attitude as if she didn't want to help me and didn't want to be there. I asked for someone else to assist me and she said she was the only one available. You think I was going to sit there and be bitched at just for trying to order food? Negative. read more

This store has dozen of item on-sale just about anytime. Sometime the item get mix up ,i was confuse and I got a item wasn't on sale. But had no issue for return and refund. This place also sell dozen of gift card and also theme park tickets. It doesn't had restaurant or coffee like Pavillion , But I shopped here cacuse is still one of beter Ralph in the area and good price and location for me. read more

Love this Ralph's clean, plenty of parking and the most professional and courteous staff.

Good ol' Ralphs is probably my favorite regular grocery store chain compared to Albertsons, vons/pavillions, stater bros, Food4less (also kroger like Ralphs), and Superior. They have definitely expanded on organic items with their Simple Truth line and I can buy bison, organic produce, my no sugar added pb, and a variety of better food options for a pretty good price. My main gripe is really with the injustices that society has laid down upon us (corporate, are you listening?) One of my best grocery store experiences (yes, grocery shopping can be an experience) was shopping at a Ralphs Fresh Fare in Palos Verdes. I couldn't believe it was a freakin' Ralphs! Go to Hawthorne and Crest and not only capture a gorgeous sunrise/sunset next to the ocean on a hill but you also experience an organic section comparable to Sprouts (as opposed to the 1/8 of the produce dept. Here). It's even equipped with a sushi bar and boars head deli! Now my complaint is that the nearest fresh fare is on 2nd St/Marketplace area in Long Beach. I like 2nd Street but it definitely caters to a particular crowd and is over priced, over populated, and overrated at times... I like it but it drives me crazy that I'm born and bred from Long Beach, and this area so doesn't represent what my city is about (like $400 swim suit tops). This Ralph's has enormous potential! It is juxtapose to an LA fitness and even has a GNC in it's parking lot. The Bixby Knolls Ralphs closed down so this Ralphs has so many health conscious people. For Peets sake a Trader Joes is a mile away! Hey, the hood (even though this ain't nearly as hood as my beloved North Side) needs some love and fresh fare in it's life! Of course, I will continue to shop here because I think it's worth driving 2.5 miles from my house to go here instead of Albertsons, unless some super special items come up, then it's off to Sprouts or Lazy Acres. Love, peace, and Fresh Fare (seriously corporate, upgrade this store to a fresh fare!) read more

Felix from the meat department always takes care of me and the family. When products run short he goes back and gets me what I need.

I just wanted to give a thank you to Mark, one of the cashiers. He had excellent customer service. I shared with him about the bad day I was having and he was just the kindest man to me. Keep him around. :) read more

I stop at this Ralph several times a week as it is on my way to work. I am always greeted by the friendliest people, even though it is pretty early in the morning. I usually stop here for coffee creamer and a yogurt and something from the bakery department. Their jalapeno and cheese onion rolls are THE BEST. And They're super fresh early in the morning. If you've never had one I highly recommend it. They're only fifty cents! I am very happy to visit this Ralph's. read more

This is one of my favorite grocery stores. It would be the only store I shop at but they don't have a huge selection of unprocessed/Paleo foods..it's growing though so maybe one day I'll shop exclusively here. The service is exceptional. The employees treat you like a friend, not a customer. Every single person who works here is always friendly and kind. It's so nice to shop at a place where you are treated as a person and not just a number. It's what keeps me coming back. read more

Love those Kiosk shopping area's, but twice I have tried to purchase a full weeks worth of groceries and it was a problem. Scale does not pick up on really small items, like the cat food trays. Keeps bugging me with "Put item in bagging area". Scale is not large enough for a full week of groceries. You must scan an item before putting a reusable bag on the scale. Then it will ask you if you put a bag on the scale, otherwise it will say "Item not recognized, remove item". However, I still am totally liking this change, I do a lot of "run over, buy a loaf of bread, a dozen eggs" kind of shopping and these Kiosk's give me a swift shopping experience, even on a weekend visit. No more dealing with some dopes who: forgot their debit number, want to pay with exact change, are in the 15 or less line with a shopping cart full of groceries, want to tell the cashier about their entire life or moves so slow they make a sloth look like an Olympic Sprinter. Those road bumps in life have been dealt a serious blow ... now if only we can find a solution to these people for airplane travel ... something to think about. read more

Seems as if they have a very low staff. I asked a supervisor if they were low in staff, and he said he didn't think so, so I let him know that I had NO HELP when I seeked it and maybe they start hiring and firing. read more

I'm a long time Ralphs shopper and I've suffered for it. Now retired, in my 70's, you'd think I'd catch a little break from their hyper-vigilant security, But, no, unfortunately. I happen to be black (oh no, here we go again!), so that trumps age. I'm closely followed the moment I walk in. Very humiliating and indignant treatment! I take a deep breath and push on. Then, at checkout this last time, I get ushered into a 'special' lane (suspicious!), with no one else allowed, and closely checked out. The whole experience was a big insult! I complained a few times in their surveys, but it's never acknowledged. I stopped shopping at Ralphs a couple of years ago - it was even worse in Redondo Beach and Torrance, where I once lived. Now in Long Beach, I tried this Ralphs on Carson. The new points system brought me back for a try, especially with their Visa card and double points scheme (100 points= 10 cents per gallon gas off, etc.). They're not the only retailer who does this kind of profiling. I know they have black assistant managers and checkers, but that doesn't change their profiling. I don't look ghetto; but I'm a slow shopper and that gets them nervous. Be interested to hear about the experience from other African American males out there. read more

I used to live about a mile from this Ralphs grocery store. They always make an effort to greet you whether it be while walking around the store or checking out at the register. They keep the store extremely clean and brightly lit. The only con is the small produce section. I've had fruits or vegetables I want to purchase not in stock at the time of my shopping but besides that, always a successful trip! read more

we've always been Ralph's shopper. been our choice of reference for our grocery needs. no matter where we lived, we always had a go-to Ralph's near by. I still compare prices with other grocery stores like Albertsons-Vons, StaterBros, etc but I still end going to Ralph's. This is our go-to Ralph's now & I love that they now have self check-out lanes & their newest thing SBG...Scan, Bag & Go! oh let's not forget, the staff here are always friendly & helpful. read more

I usually don't write reviews for grocery stores, but let me tell you this place deserves a review. I had a sudden craving for white fudge oreos, and the staff here is the best. Our convo: " Do you need any help?" " Yes, I'm looking for the white fudge oreos." "Hold on, let me ask the girl that just got dumped. She'll know where it's at!" HAHA made my freaking day! They didn't have it unfortunately, and i came back a few days later. And, oh my goodness! When one person didn't know, they asked another person. So literally like 5 workers were helping me find oreos, it was such a mission & I kept saying "its too much work, its fine." and they were just saying how they want their customers to be happy. Thank you so much for your guys kindness. read more

Worst service ever. Managers don't care if you are standing in a line, even if you are the last person with one item they make you wait. The deli workers and the bakery workers don't help each other out, if one is on break and you ask about their products this is what you get "I do't know and they are on lunch" HATE this place will NEVER go back, will drive further for better service every time. read more

On a normal day I would give Ralph's a four star review. Today, not so much!!! Cart full and I am in good spirits. Found everything on my grocery list and some new things to try. I am patiently waiting in line to checkout. I went to the "traditional " checkout lane. My cart is full and I want to use a check. The nice Ralph's employee kindly requested that I try the new scan your own items line. Of course she would be there as backup. Scanning, scanning and scanning. The machine is telling me the items need to be bagged. Can't get to my bags yet. The machine keeps beep and announcing that my items have to go on the side. They are there. At this point my groceries are falling off the small table to the right. Again, place item in bag & scam next item. You have not placed item in bagging area! $180. later, I am left with a mess that needs to be bagged by me and a check can only be written if the employee has been trained for that. Already we pay more money at the grocery store and products are being packaged smaller! If the market is pushing customers to use self-checkout by not staffing the traditional lanes, then give the customer a break on prices!!!! The corporation is saving money on salaries by not staffing checkout lanes! The grocery bills are getting higher & higher! read more

I have been a long time customer of this Ralphs. But I am so tired of the terrible service at check out. I don't need to hear your conversations with the baggers and other checkers about all your personal BS...The produce use to be good but now I am finding it over priced. I now shop at a different Ralphs or Slater Bros, get my produce at the local farmers market or Lazy Acres. This store is a real disappointment and I will not be setting my food back inside this place. read more

Quick review here, longer one below - Overall affordability: 4/5 Fruit/ vegetable selection: 4/5 Meat selection: 3/5 Beer selection: 3/5 Staff friendliness: 5/5 Staff speed: 4/5 I come here fairly often (Costco portions for perishables are just too big to use up in time) and it's a pretty standard grocery store. They have most ingredients I need and keep everything clean and well-stocked; most of the ratings I give above should be pretty self-explanatory. For less popular/ common ingredients I have to go to Island Pacific in Cerritos or Northgate Gonzalez at the corner of Cherry and Del Amo (the options at this Ralphs are pretty mainstream) so certain cuts of meat, spices, and imported products just aren't here. Maybe it's just a fad for now but I think their beer selection overly favors IPAs compared to other kinds of beers. I'm a fan of more stouts, porters, and white beers, but for now I usually go to Bevmo or local craft beer markets instead of Ralphs for that. I really want to acknowledge that the cashiers are all generally pleasant people (even when I show up at 9pm and they have every right to be tired). Sometimes the small talk slows the line but for the most part its fine. The burning question I have for Ralphs is this: why do you close the door that's closer to most parking at night? Silly pet peeve, but I noticed that another Ralphs does the same thing. read more

Unfortunately, I am very disappointed at how the manager took my call. I called in to check if a certain product was in stock, and the manager flat out told me "I don't know and I don't have time to find out." I understand the store gets busy but it doesn't give you an excuse to not treat customers nicely. Let's color the world with love, we have too much negativity in the world already. read more

I usually like Ralph's on Cherry/Carson in Long Beach but today I am only giving it 3 stars. I am writing this as the Covid-19 stay-at-home orders are starting to loosen up, but the pandemic is far from over. So many new cases are reported every day, and we are all urged to take precautions. The governor of our great state has issued orders for everyone to wear face masks while in public. When I went to Ralph's today everyone was wearing a mask, but MANY people had them pulled down so that their nose was exposed. A mask worn like this is no better than no mask worn at all. Not only customers, but also EMPLOYEES had their masks pulled down. I was very upset because I am in a high risk group and want to be protected as much as possible when I go to a public business. When I left the store, there was a security guard standing out in front, making sure that no one was admitted to the store without a mask on. OMG, she also had the mask pulled down so that her nose was exposed. I am so disappointed in the irresponsibility displayed by Ralphs. Maybe it is difficult to control customers, but EMPLOYEES? And your security guard? The governor has given an order that Ralphs is not following, at least not today. This pandemic is not over and insisting that people wear masks but then at the same time letting them pull them down so that their germs can spew all over everybody is ludicrous. read more
