Root Beer Float Waterloo and Baguette from Aldi
Jacob C.

I finally visited my local Aldi and it was great. It was clean, spacious, new, and well-stocked. There's an abundance of parking (for now) and there are EV chargers nearby. The produce and meats looked delicious and their snacks are highly-addictive, so exercise caution. They also have plenty of ingredients to create exceptional meals.

New shopping center and very organized store! I finally made it to an Aldi to see what it was all about. This one is in a new shopping center but in a an older and rougher part of Lon Beach. Suggest going during daylight hours. Nice large parking lot with ample spaces. Aldi has carts but requires a quarter to release one (chained together), similar to an airport! Fortunately I read about that in advance. This is to encourage customers to return their carts (and get your quarter back). The store is very organized and clean. Reminds me of an Amazon Fresh with all their produced prepackaged vs bulk. Mostly no name brands but their were some named brands, example Campbell's soup, however, only two to choose from (cream of mushroom and cream of chicken). Great price too, $1.32 per can vs Ralph's $2.29! I went there to pick up these cookies that are supposed to be very similar to Girl Scouts Thin Mints. I missed out this past season! I will say they are very, very similar. I also picked up Arm & Hammer laundry soap because I thought the price was great, only to compare it to the Costco size at home and price, not a deal! Checkout is mostly self check-out which is fine with me. Overall, prices seem good but selection is limited.

I was so excited to learn that Long Beach was getting an Aldi, and when visiting the Aldi, it blew my expectations. There's plenty of parking, and there's tons of cars in the parking lot. In order to get a cart at Aldi, you need to insert a quarter. I had trouble getting a cart so the nice security guard helped me! The store itself is huge, it's clean, and it's organized. I could not see a single thing that was misplaced! The prices were surprisingly cheap. A dozen eggs are currently 99¢, and they are going like crazy! They carry tons of familiar brands and items, but they also carry brands and items that haven't been heard of. They also have all the items that will make an excellent charcuterie board! The employees can be found around the store, it's not hard to find an employee if you need help. The employees that work at the check-out sit on chairs which I absolutely love! I've always thought that cashiers need chairs so they can have the choice to sit or stand. You need to bring your own bag, but reusable and paper bags can be purchased. You pack your own groceries on the counter near the exit. I enjoyed going to Aldi more than I have when I go to Target or Food 4 Less! The prices are good, the food is interesting, the store is clean and organized, and there's plenty of security in case you feel unsafe! I will be coming back! :)

if you were hiking in the Bavarian Alps and rolled down the mountains into Munich and your adventure was halted by a grocery store it might be Aldi. That's what the new AldI on Anaheim Street reminds me that it would look like. It has an unusual assortment of food/household goods etc. The aisles are full of surprisingly intriguing items and those unfamiliar items could lead to impulse buying. Especially if you walk in with $5.00 off coupons. Another sort of Grocery Outlet with its bargain hunting/gathering instincts rising up in the customer. A kind of Trader Joe's where you toss things into the cart like dice, wondering about the outcome. You may not find what you went to the grocery store for in the first place but that's ok if you're prepared for it. The staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The aisles were wide and comfortable. The prices were clearly posted. Security guards evident. The parking lot was large and easy to navigate. No complaints.

We happened to walk by and noticed a good amount of tents were set up and walked over to see what it was about. Well it's another farmers market. It's not too big but it does offer a lot of produce vendors and food vendors. It's is pet friendly as it's in the park. One side is where the produce is. Loads of nice fresh and beautiful fruits and vegetables. Farm fresh eggs also available. They do have a good amount of vendors selling gifts and trinkets. You have apparel, there's a cute pet vendor and more. The side where the stage is with a live band is where all the food vendors are located. There's been pizza, bagels, made to order meals as well as seafood vendors. There's quite a good amount on food. With the stage being there, they alway had a live band performing and keeping people entertained. Dancing happens which is a nice way to get people to enjoy themselves. It's a pretty cool market but parking is limited as it's alway pretty busy at the park.

Don't be surprised when coming here that the parking lot is diabolical on the weekends - good luck trying to find a spot ! I came here once on a weekend & I would not advise - even street parking is scarce. Your best bet is to come on a weekday & you'll most likely find a spot in the teeny lot on Gardenia. THe store only has 2 registers & it's a zoo on the weekends. If you have craving for Khmer food, come here... chances are they have it. Beef skewers, pickled veggies, nom kom, to name a few. If you're looking for fish sauce or oyster sauce that's specifically made in Cambodia, they have it which I haven't seen at any other Khmer market or asian market. For how little the store is, there's a lot jammed inside. I was happy to find kreung here as I am too lazy to make my own ! and another rare find, Monk Balm (think tiger balm), & other medicinal items. You know the place is legit when you try asking a worker a question & they know NO english. If you're unfamiliar best to bring a Khmer speaker with to help assist in any questions.

You can find authentic Cambodian prepared foods, meats, noodles, fresh cut up mangoes or pineapples, and so much more. I've been craving their beef sticks and these are the best in my opinion. Something about the marinated ingredients they put in makes my mouth salivating. I bought 6 beef sticks for $12 which comes with papaya salad. A bit pricey, but nice to indulge once in a while. This market is where I buy all my Asian ingredients like soy sauce, hoisin, garlic chili, oyster sauce, and fish sauce. Can't forget the pickled mangoes in a jar. Absolutely my favorite to snack on during a hot day. Sweet at the same time sour goodness! Wai Wai noodles is a staple in our kitchen, therefore that's always in our shopping cart. Parking can get tight when it's busy, but people come in and out so you'll eventually find a space. Service does need improvement, but never had an issue with the cashiers. I will continue to go shopping there just because it's convenient for me when I need something quick.

It happens each Sunday from 9 AM to 2 PM. This market is filled with all your essentials. Tons of fruits, veggies, cheeses, meats, baked goods, flowers, house plants, dips, and more. There was even a bagel spot with a line about 50 people deep. I am my best self at a farmers market, but often leave with an empty wallet. I snagged hummus, kombucha, green juice, and a floral arrangement in one visit. A few things that make this spot incredibly special: 1. there's a plethora of parking and it's free for the first 2-hours. 2. They literally have a dog valet where you can drop off your pet before shopping the local vendors. Quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever seen. 3. It's literally hosted at the marina with a gorgeous view of the boats and water. Perfect for a Sunday afternoon picnic with your farmers market goodies. Highly highly recommend adding this to your weekend itinerary.

The carrots in a variety of colors are in season and so deliciously sweet when roasted. During my last visit, I also purchased a watermelon radish. They now sell meat, seafood and have music for kids. You won't be disappointed with this Farmer's Market!

My favorite vendors here are Battambong BBQ, which has a great reputation for their barbecue with Cambodian flavors and Churros Don Abel Jr, for their made-to-order churros. Unfortunately, Battambong was not present this week (as the chef was on vacation for the week), but I'll be back soon for Battambong's delicious smoked brisket and Cambodian-style sausages. Overall, this is a small, local farmer's market with excellent food choices; however, you can definitely find the fresh fruits and vegetables if that's what you seek.
