THIS IS A GHETTO store big time. I am sick of there bad service over prices on there lower end picking for produce. I have shopped here for yrs. Im not going to go to a place with bad rude employees. I rather spend my precious time and money somewhere else. Its nasty sticking the marked down items next to a bathroom that has no vent. I want to throw up when I walk bye. There bathrooms are disgusting. My mom owned many restaurants growing up. If the bathrooms dirty don't eat there. Plus I have to go and make a huge civil rights complaint and I don't want to write how I was treated on different occasions. They have just rude employees and they move them around orange county alot. I dont understand why they do this. But they are not to picky on who they hire. Why are the cashiers at this location so easily triggered and nasty? A simple price check (just scanning a single item) shouldn't be treated as an annoyance. Don't demand the bagger to take away the pack I want to buy, just scan the one bottle so I can check the price of one. The cashier told me: it's too early in the morning, and said "You are dismissed!" when I asked to speak to a manger. They really need to work on their listening skills and customer service skills. A simple price check shouldn't turn into a hostile situation. The Manager was at the next register the whole time, never stepped-in and never said a word with I asked to speak to a Manger more than 3 times. Pretty ineffective. Ralph's is an exceptional chain however this is one of the smaller non deluxe versions of the chain therefore it gets a lower rating. The prices tend to be higher than other chains such as Trader Joe's or Smart and Final. The better Ralph's that I feel deserve a four star rating are in the Foothill Ranch area of Lake Forest on Portola and also the Ralph's located in the El Toro Road area of Lake Forest. These Ralph's have a large variety of produce, organic items, meats, cheeses and cookware. Shop at these other locations instead if you need depth of selection. Othewise this small store does it's job well. read more

This is pretty much a basic Ralphs. i like to call it a neighborhood ralphs, because alot of people who know each other tend to know each other. there meat dept is pretty good. they don't have a whole lot of lamb or veal. But they have alot of your basic needs. They don't have a butcher shop here or meat counter. Seafood dept has fresh fish and they said they get fish every other day. Alot of fish seems to be previously frozen. produce, is good. they provide what i need. they have wide range of fruits. Service deli has some friendly employees. they did there job, they served me and i was out. some days it kinda gets busy.... cashiers are always friendly, can't go wrong there. They have self check out there , which is new. its easy to use but can be a pain if its ur first time. compared to other Ralph's, i like this one better because its not too big and they provide the basic's of what i need. read more

I wouldn't consider reviewing a grocery store, but seriously, this store has the best customer service I have ever experienced at ANY other supermarket. Another reviewer has it right- it has a very small town feel. It's rare to pass an employee who says "hello, how are you? Are you finding everything OK?" when they're clearly on their way somewhere else in the store. Every visit I feel they go above and beyond with their smiles, service and conversation. They actually make me laugh a lot which makes the hum-drum of grocery shopping turn into some fun and makes you feel a part of the community. One exceptional example of customer service: I pulled my cart into the checkout line and the cashier goes around to empty my cart for me. I say, "wow, is this something new?" He says "I certainly hope not- this is what we do when the store isn't very busy!" This was a man in his 60s and I really didn't expect him to do that work for me! I felt like a valued customer and this is just plain rare. Big fan of their mobile app, random coupons for FREE products and Shell gas station reward points accrual. I have been going to this ralphs since i was a kid and is always my go to place to buy groceries especially this particular store. In all honesty the staff has always been very helpful and welcoming to everyone... this 1 star goes out to Helen at the register, her attitude and mood has literally made a damper on everyone who works with her. I have seen her yell at customers and her employees. I have litterly seen one of the nicest cashiers attitude from going from a super possitve person to cant waiting to get out of there because of her mood . .... i can go on and on about it. This specific Ralph's is much like all the other Ralph's but they have more closed-door refrigerators for items that are normally placed in open-door refrigerators, like for ready-made bread dough. Barring frozen food, all of the clearance items are separated at the back of the store, as opposed to other Ralph's locations we have been to, which sometimes put clearance items in with the good items. They are separated with a shopping cart and even the clearance yogurt has a mini-fridge to store it all! We pretty much raided it because there was so much clearance stuff that we could use. As of the time of this visit, there was someone advertising some type of service outside the door, which we had to avoid interacting with. They also have a water vending machine outside. read more

I like shopping at Ralphs, but I swear this was the last time I'll come and shop at this Ralphs. There's this particular checker lady, who wears glasses with short blond hair. Avoid this lady checker at all costs. She is unbelievably rude, and completely ruined my trip to this store. Whoever she is, I'm hoping that the management gets enough complaints about this woman and get her fired or something. It is a quite an experience shopping with hostile environment. This review is about a lady (mature, light colored hair) that made a sandwich for me in the deli department. First of all, she was so nice. But what really struck me was the attention to detail she had when making my sandwich. Everything was structured so perfectly. And I like vegetables which makes it more difficult to balance everything to make the perfect bite. Absolutely appalled at the behavior of the cashier at Ralph's (Lake Forest & Trabuco)...my total was $10.72 so I handed her $10.75 (w/two dimes and a nickel)... it looked like she was struggling to see what the change was so I very cheerfully said, "It's .75 cents"... to which she exceedingly sarcastically replied, "Thank you for helping me with the math...not like I didn't go to fucking public school or anything..I know how to add..I can do basic math." I love shopping at Ralph's, but there is one major problem. The deli. I go there almost every night to pick up a salad. There is always a line, and last night at 5 PM, with 5 of us in line, only 1 person, ONE person, working. Two people left. It's appalling. Between 4:30 and 7PM, people are coming in from work, tired, hungry, and in need of something quick. We don't want to stand in line to wait because they're understaffed. read more

Homa, HOMA, homa....WORST EVER MANAGER (so called) I see in my life. Every single time that I have to deal with her it turns out to a disaster. One time after I pay to cashier for my grocery I notice for one of the items there was a small mistake happens on the price. It was less than a dollar and I was passing by the customer service and she was there doing something so I said excuse me and she asked me to wait, so wait for 2-3 minutes until she finish whatever she was doing and then I explain that small mistake, she go over my receipt many times to make sure I am right! then with hesitate asks me I need to go back to the end of the line (which was long that time) to get my 0.75 cents back! instead of open another line quickly and take care of their mistake. It seems to me she wants to punish me for their mistake!! Another time I have to deal with this horrible manager HOMA, again. I bought 4 diaper pack for my baby I had 4 coupons for that 4 diaper (1 for each of them) I thought I bring them all with me but I left 2 coupons in the car. So I gave the 2 coupons I have to casher and I thought after I drop my grocery in the car I bring the other 2 coupons for the remaining 2 diapers. So I did that and bring the other 2 coupons but unfortunately I have to deal with HOME the horrible! I explain to her the story but she keeps saying cashier scan your 2 coupons! I keeps telling her I bought 4 and that 2 coupons is for the other 2 so now I want to user these 2 for the remaining 2 diapers. She cannot get that such a simple thing and keeps saying I saw the casher scan your coupons bla, bla, bla...finally she get it (super smart woman!!!) she adjust my coupon but she write a explanation on my receipt with her name, date, initial and signature that I cannot use any more coupons for that receipt. This store is just terrible. I can't even go there anymore and it is the closest to my house. I went to grab a few things to finish cooking and baking. They said all was on isle 15 Almond meal not there Marsala wine for cooking nope Castor sugar - nope Shallots - not there Shredded coconut - not there but, they did have unsweetened way high where you can't see. 93% ground chicken nope. It is so frustrating to shop here. The Deli has always been a long wait. The design of this store is not user friendly even after the remodel. A woman needs to design this store to make it be consumer friendly. None of my neighbors shop here for the same reasons. The seafood is in the way back of store and never has business. I looking forward to another store to replace this one and so that all the neighbors can use a store that is minutes from there homes. read more

Not sure what these people are smoking, but all I see is a severe reduction in inventory and ridiculously out of control pricing. $10.00 for bacon, $5.00 for butter, all wine is $7-15 over fair market value unless you buy 6 bottles at a shot...FYI you can get it for half their price at Stater Bros and only have to buy 4. All my favorites they no longer carry. I say goodbye and good riddens. Sadly they seem to have a monopoly around here so it's inconvenient to have to shop elsewhere. read more

If you value your physical safety, and hold the antiquated notion that customers are entitled to a modicum of respect, please DO NOT ever shop here. I visited the store last night to purchase some produce. The produce section is a hazard, as many of their fruits are set up so that customers must reach up and bend over a few feet just to reach the fruits. If you are pregnant, overweight, or middle-aged or older, you are already risking your safety in this regard. Some of their carts are unstable, to such an extent that the one I was wheeling overturned onto its side, falling onto my right foot and toe, which immediately began bleeding profusely. A full 24 hours later, my right foot is still in considerable discomfort with an ugly bruise, and I am hobbling. Quite lovely. Last night, no employee checked on me or offered assistance; the only person who helped was another customer, a nice middle-aged lady who witnessed this and helped upright the cart and reload my fallen produce back into my cart. A few minutes later, I hobbled to the checkout and advised the casher- with the manager standing there- what had transpired, informing them that my foot was now bleeding, and strongly advised they remove the cart from the rotation. All that transpired was that the cashier said to the manager, "He says the cart fell on his foot", upon which the manager transferred my items to another cart, declared "Problem solved" and sent me to my car- with no further assistance offered. Nobody except the kind customer checked if I were okay, nor did anyone ask if I needed medical attention, or even offer any help hobbling out to my car. When I got home, my wife- who was furious, and knowledgeable of proper procedure given her having worked in retail in the past- called the store and asked why no incident form was completed. The manager lied to her on the phone, admitting he was aware of what had transpired but claiming I had refused all help(!) and refused to complete an incident form. Major Chutzpah indeed, insofar as I was never offered any help to refuse. He then indicated that I should come back to the store the next day to complete an incident form. Given my full-day work schedule during the day, I am naturally unable to do so. (And even if I were able, why is the burden on me to come in and fill out a form under the circumstances?) In summary, the staff at this store are distinguished by their lack of concern for their customers' well-being, blatant dishonesty and incompetency, and lack of basic human decency. If you value your physical safety and have any expectations that a customer should be awarded even a slight amount of dignity and respect as a human being, please avoid this Ralph's under all circumstances. read more

In the time since my initial review, I realize this Ralphs is so much better than the Albertsons nearby. The store is very clean. The expiration dates on most products show that the items are fresh. I like the self-checkout and I have not experienced any pricing problems. I also like knowing that with self-checkout, if I have any pricing issues, I can cancel the purchase or ask to speak to the manager, without worrying about holding up the line. read more

Gelson's prices in a Kmart environment. The produce makes me melancholy. I went there today because Stater Bros. doesn't sell Iams dog cookies. I strolled down the meat aisle to check out their "50% off" steak sale". Bogus city. They had bone-in rib-eyes at "$7.99/lb, normally $15.98/lb." FAIL. They could never charge 16 bucks a pound for their stringy little steaks. That's more than you'd pay for a real steak, like the ones they sell at Costco. I am so impressed with this Ralph's store manager, Jay Hills! He is nice man, kind and compassionate. Let me explain a little more of why I think that: My husband passed away, and I was looking to place a large order from the Deli in this store for the reception following my husband's funeral. I was looking for food and drinks for approximately 150 people. After talking to a couple of caterers, I opted to use the Ralph's Catering for this overwhelming event. I am ever so grateful to Jay for his time and attention to my needs, and his attention to the various details of such a large order. His professional approach with extraordinarily good customer service made this HUGE task for me much easier. I appreciate this store manager like non-other. In addition to Jay Hills' customer care, the food was amazing! The feed back I have gotten from the funeral attendees has been all positive raving about how good the sandwiches were and what a nice "spread" the luncheon was. Even the chocolate cake Ralph's made (my husband's favorite) was really, really good. It was moist and mouth watering. I also want to mention the cake designer did a beautiful job with crosses and the simple writing of my husband's name "Joe" on the cake as requested. My beloved Joe would have been very pleased!! All in all, I am glad I choose Ralph's to provide the food for my husband's final "party." It was all good, and I will defiantly use Jay Hill's Ralph's store again. read more

I have been meaning to write a review of this Ralph's for a while because I've noticed a LOT of problems recently (I've lived in this area and shopped here my whole life: I'm 33). Today was kind of the last straw. I went in to do a simple turn-in of coins at the Coinstar, and when I went to get my money, there were three lanes open (none of which were 15 items or less lanes) and each had a huge line with people with mostly a ton of groceries. It was really frustrating to have to wait through all of that cashiering simply to turn in a Coinstar receipt. This is by far only one of the issues I've noticed lately (I've frequently gone in to long lines and only a few stations opened, and have noticed some of those busy times only one or two of the self-checkouts open, and there was a huge line there as well). I've noticed a LOT of empty shelves and lack of good (or even any sometimes) produce. I've gone in looking for things and not been able to purchase them because they were sold out, on many occasions. I've also noticed an issue with trying to purchase roast chickens (though, to be fair, this seems to have subsided a bit in recent weeks). I will go in between 5:30pm and 6:30pm on a weekday and there isn't a single roast chicken on the rack, and I feel like that is probably the time when there should be a lot of them. It's just been a very frustrating experience recently and I have found myself seeking other places to shop recently. It's just very disappointing because I've shopped here for so long with great results until recently. read more

I only buy select items at Ralph's cause generally their prices are too high. They did have some good sales if you have their club card, which my husband does. I usually buy Yasso ice cream bars here, cause only Ralph's and Target sell them in my area. Target has a better regular price but will stop here cause it is closer to my apt than Target. I also buy Halo ice cream here cause it's the only store that sells it in my area. I also buy Luna protein bars here, cause out of everywhere the price for singles is a $1 (can't beat that unless you buy a box but I like singles to get a bunch of different flavors). Parking is always easy and getting around the store is easy. It is a nice neighborhood and nice little shopping center. I gave it 4 stars even though Ralph's is pricey because it carries the three items above and always have had a pleasant experience there. read more

Sometimes one person can make the difference....however with in the 7 months I've lived a block from this Ralphs I've had nothing but great experiences with their employees. I decided to write a review because of the service of Johnathan (John) 6/29/2016 8:30pm I shopped at this Ralphs earlier in the day and happened to have left my bag that had my sons food in it...later when I went to feed him it was nowhere insight...I called the store and John answered, he checked with the other associates to see if anyone mentioned the groceries that were left behind earlier in the day but no go...was told to come in and replace the items left behind...John greeted me when I got to the store...I retrieved the items I previously paid for but left behind...I talked with the manager just to show her my receipt...she was great as well...as I was leaving I saw John helping a lady with her dog...she needed to go in but didn't want to just bring her dog in walking around, John went back in the store and came out with newspaper...he spread across the cart and placed the ladies dog in the cart...problem solved...I had to write to compliment him and let Ralphs no they have a very valuable employee in John...
