I come to Lake Forest pretty often and this Ralph's is my go to. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store is always clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It's normally a come and go trip with little to no interactions, but on Saturday 8/15/2026, I was highly annoyed by a worker there named David. My fiancée and I were there and wanted a bottle of Tequila that was locked in the cabinet. I left to find a worker and didn't see any so I went to self-checkout to see if the young lady there may have a had a walkie or something to help. Behind an organizer of reusable bags I could see a worker just standing there. David. The young lady asked if he could help me since she could not leave her post and he said he had a customer. He didn't. He then opted to call someone to the front who didn't come. He behaved this way all thinking I did not see him. I walked over to his checkout lane and looked directly at him to which he looked down. The young lady then came to help me as self-checkout was empty. It was fairly quick. Less than 2 minutes. She told me it'd be at the front. I know at this location, I can purchase liquor with an employee at self-checkout but I purposely went to David's lane. He couldn't say "Hello," look at us directly, or say "Thank you have a good night." while checking us out despite doing just that to the person in front of us and behind. Hmmmmmm? Interesting yes? I loudly thanked the young lady for helping us and leaving her post to do so while remarking on David not helping her or us. I wish I had asked for her name. She did not have on her name tag or it was on her pant loop. I didn't get to see it. This interaction will not stop me from going to this store necessarily, but I will not forget the interaction. To be that purposely evasive so loudly is poor work ethic and customer service. read more

A little disappointed to be leaving this review because this is our local grocery store. However, I feel it's important to let other customers know to PLEASE CHECK the expiration dates before purchasing. Unfortunately, we've come across multiple expired products here. A few months ago, I noticed Cotija cheese on the back shelf that was moldy and well past its expiration date, which I immediately reported to the cashier. Then just two days ago, my son purchased bacon that turned out to be two months expired. This doesn't seem to be an isolated incident, and it appears expired items are not being removed from the shelves consistently. I hope management takes this seriously and improves their inventory checks, as this is a food safety concern. read more

If you call because the bagger was so eager to leave he forgot to put some of your items in, they won't answer even after 40 minutes of ringing. If you figure "Ok, it's 2 hrs before close but it IS pretty late, I'll try tomorrow afternoon", they still will not answer. And if you begrudgingly reach out to corporate, and corporate tries to call the store on your behalf, they STILL won't answer corporate's call either. This was a separate experience I was going to let go of, but now I can see a bigger issue with this store: And if you ask for a bag of chips from person in a manager polo, he will tell you no without even looking. He will make up some lie about a truck coming in the morning, and you will proceed to find them yourself in the overstock on the top shelf. They're not even trying. read more

When they have to lock up their batteries in the cabinet but not the candies, eggs, diapers, travel size items, etc...: i m out!! PLUS the self checkout machine is useless!!! I selected No Bag and the screen display a "The help is on the way" message. WHAT?? why do I need help when I bring my own bag??? And why do I need an age verification when I m buying a lighter?? Firstly, there's no cashier it's 10:00 PM and they told me that I have to use self check out even when I requested a cashier ! I've been a cashier before, working at grocery store back in the day, but I was paid for that! Not everyone is good with scanning items and bagging them themselves. And So now they're not even giving us a choice. At least if I went to a cheaper store we would save some money and they would have bagged our groceries for us. Finally would like to note that some people like human interaction, such as salutations: hello, goodbye. Have a pleasant evening. Etc.. Why do I keep going back? The prices are higher than other stores and the service is terrible. Today the line was TEN customers long; including a few elderly customers. This is not an exaggeration. There are several items you have to ask for help with, so many cannot use the self service lines. I feel terrible for the checkers because it's not their fault. It's management. At the end of May I put an order in for my son's high school graduation cake. Their printer to make the design was broken. They didn't call. They just didn't make the cake. I also ordered catering from the from the deli department. They said they called me to ask a question about the order (I had no missed calls from Ralph's). I arrived to pick up the food and they didn't make it and didn't have anyone on staff to fill the order. I had a house full of people and no food. Thankfully El Ranchito nearby was kind enough to prepare us food. Ralph's on El Toro needs to do better. read more

Extremely satisfied with the new manager at this Ralphs. Quinn is a very humble and very respectful manager to shop with. And dealing with Abril in pickup was a breeze. My time here often seems easy to find my items as much as my deals I often go to. I gotten fast service when asked for my pet collar and I was pleased with the service provided. I don't see any sort of problem. I see they respect the people and do not even judge the people who come in. Very helpful, and didn't try to brush me off when I was asking about their tri-tip. It's so weird, because more often than not, I come across butchers who don't want to help. Or they are super arrogant. If I ask a question, they answer me like I should know, or they seem appalled by the request (like, can I see another piece please?). I would a lot zero stars if they gave me that option on yelp. Do not buy flowers at Ralphs on El Toro Rd. in the Orchard shopping center. On Friday, May 15, I bought two bunches of tulips at full price. The way they were wrapped, you could not see Much other than the tops of the flowers. None of the flowers were opened, so I thought that they would open. When I got the flowers home, the stems were completely mush and slimy. The flowers were dead. When I took them out of the plastic wrap and they were no longer held together by each other, the petals fell off the flowers. Flowers, that never would open and had no Live stems to them. Total mush and slime. I brought them back the next morning, because I had guest last night and we're hoping to use the flowers for my table. No flowers, but I couldn't return to the store until the following morning which I did. I spoke to Quinn, the store leader, who didn't even want to speak to me and said that there was no refund on flowers. Do you buy it at your own risk. I said even when you're selling dead, slimy flowers? I buy at my own risk? You can't see what's underneath all the wrapping. He refused to speak with me. I asked for the name of someone above him and he said he's not able to give me that information. Basically, they stole $20 from me and wouldn't even give me the name of anyone over him. He's a punk of a manager, disrespectful, And someone who shouldn't be dealing with with the public. Not apologetic nothing. Just too bad I bought bad flowers from them at full price. Too bad for me. Never will. I set foot in that store again. This is not the first time I have bought poor quality at the store, but it happens to be convenient now and then. CHECK DATES WHEN SHOPPING HERE!!!!! They sell expired food which has mold on it, and when you tell them the food on the shelf is expired they act like you're the problem for telling them about it and how dare you bother them with such a thing. When I went to return the expired (by a week) Haigs hummus that I bought off their shelf they acted like I was strange for wanting my $6 back for the inedible, moldy, expired food they sell. The 1 star is for the old short lady bagging groceries who decided to rudely critique Sergio out loud in receipt handling (which in my opinion seemed like the customers job) - based on my 20 years in customer service experience, it was extremely inappropriate to critique an employee in front of a bunch of customers. To be honest, she seemed like an employee and not even a manager and if she was a manager, she should be demoted or take some leadership classes. Good job Sergio for being professional and not reacting to her because I definitely had comments to say if she didn't walk to bag at another register. read more

When trying to order from the fresh Deli where they have freshly made salads, fried chicken, etc., I have a huge problem when I'm trying to order online pick up or delivery. When I search on my Ap for deli items, they don't come up. I'm especially interested in the fresh Chili Rellano's they have in their Deli and I cannot find them when I try to order from their Ap online. You know, this store was interesting, there were certain sections that were blocked off and you had to pay in that section, which I have never seen before. There were some interesting people at check out and service clerks kind of not knowing how to handle these customers. Probably need some training on what to do or who to call in certain situations. This used to be the best Ralph's around IMO. Leadership / mgmt must have changed dramatically to ruin this once great store. From my latest visit (today): 1. Stock outs in produce section. 2. All bananas were green except for organic. 3. Prices are too high. 4. Items on shelf are mislabeled (intentionally?) and I was charged triple the labeled amount. 5. Check out looked like the entrance to Woodstock with 23 customers impatiently waiting in line. 6. By the time I checked out (about 20 mins) - frozen items were melting. 7. I asked the poor checker (there were only two) why isn't leadership present & helping. He said he had no idea where they were. But maintained composure while facing this disaster. Senior leadership should perform an audit on what the heck happened to this store and make much needed changes. I do not plan to return to this location again - until responsible & effective leadership is in place. Sorry for the rant but hopefully it helps turn this disaster around. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. First off, the entire staff or lack there of seem to hate their lives and are not helpful. Second off, they close one of their doors by 6-7pm every night ‍. Finally, the fact that they close two entire aisles at 7pm every night is absolutely insane. If you want to buy tampons, laundry detergent, tooth paste or anything cold/flu related then good luck because you're SOL here after 7pm ‍ What a complete joke. Target is literally dollars cheaper on some items. That said, I wouldn't expect to stand in for a MASSIVE amount of time because they only have 2 registers open with NO BAGGERS on a busy day. The self checkout wasn't scanning one of my items, so I was forced to to go to the single checkout clerk. Yes. One clerk. Let's call her "Nose-Out Liz." Nose-Out was very rude to the customer in front of me, who might have been homeless by his appearance, but it's no reason to scoff and scowl at someone. Unfortunately Nose-Out still hasn't learned that the nose is connected to the lungs, and exhaling spews aerosol droplets. This made me very uncomfortable, especially now, when things are so bad. Liz didn't seem very happy, and I might not either having to brave so many people each day. I'm sure many others in the Nose-Out club are exchanging droplets with her daily, all the more reason to be extra careful, and the more likely Liz is to catch and spread the virus. You can tell which checker is "Liz" by locating a name tag that says"Liz." For Covidery caution's sake, beware Ms. Nose-Out. read more

Nothing like walking into a store and seeing plumber crack. Good majority of the merchandise is locked up - so you have to wait to get any kind of service. If you ever get any at all. Like dude, this is Lake Forest, not Compton. Calm the f**k down. You're like 5x her size. She was walking out the store and he kept yelling at her like he "was the big man". This lady claims that customers in lines come 1st after I have been standing waiting in "customer service counter" for 10 min for her to come off her 10 min break. She avoided even acknowledging that I was standing there, I saw her look at me as she was walking up and she just darted to a checker line and ignored me.. When I asked for her help, the checker who told me she would help me when she was back was so lazy to not even speak up and let her know I was patiently waiting for 10 min. So frustrating.. Shady cashiers. I bought three 12 packs of coke and a pack of paper towels tonight. He tried to charge me around 39 dollars. I asked if he was sure, since that math didn't make sense at all. He told me I was wrong and that's just how much it is. He was incredibly rude and condescending for y thinking he might have rung me up wrong. The price on the bread was wrong and the cashier, Khalid didn't help me at all. He didn't seem to want to acknowledge me when I told him I had a question. Then I walked all the way back to him to make sure I had his attention. Told him the price was wrong he said I grabbed the wrong bread, sorry. I tried to tell him I wanted the one on special instead but he just seemed careless.. long story short he sent me back to isle to figure it out on my own it took me a while since both labels were exactly under like 5 rows of the "wrong loafs" what a headache! Normally I would've left it like that but I'm pretty tired of over paying for every little thing out of not wanting to argue or go through the trouble when certain employees are mean and unhelpful. I work in customer service too and I know it's hard to deal with errors when you're tired but sometimes you just have to take a deep breath and smile because it's not the guest's fault.
