I always forget to do the majority of my grocery shopping here... it is much better priced than other big stores. They dont often have a ton of standard items, but what they do have is fresh and well priced. The checkout at any Aldi stresses me out. They are so fast and want you out of their line. Fine, cheap groceries. But the male cashier with dark hair is so rude especially to older people. This Aldi is near a retirement community and in two occasions I've seen him belittle and rudely react to elderly people. This recent time I felt so sorry for the guy trying to use self checkout I went and helped him myself. These are older people who have no idea how to use self checkouts. I get being frustrated with people but it's every time I have been in there. It's so over the top This cashier feels like he is about to explode with anger every time, and it's awful to see how he treats elderly people. read more

It's similar to Trader Joes, great prices on staples and their brands but you may need to go to a backup store to get everything. I never thought it would be possible to hate a grocery store, but I hate this place. Like I'm sure many others, I stopped here to buy a random assortment of things - items that everyone would consider simple household essentials. Let's start off with the single positive: they had chocolate almonds. Yay. Next on my list, organic milk. Now, I'm not a stickler for organic but when it comes to milk, I prefer organic. The last FIVE times I've been here, they have been out of organic whole milk. How is it possible for such a staple to be missing this often? Then hair conditioner. I know Aldi won't have the variety that most grocery stores have when it comes to these kinds of products but they didn't have a single stand-alone conditioner. Only frankenstein shampoo+conditioner combos. What in the world? Bananas - NONE. The past 3-4 times I have been here they either have no bananas, yes ZERO, or bananas greener than a grassfield after a spring shower. Do not come here expecting yellow bananas. You're asking too much from this joke of a store. Ice cream. They either have a nice variety of flavors to choose from or 20 pints of the same flavor (that no one wants) and literally nothing else. Guess what I experienced on this trip? I drove less than half a mile away to Stater Bros and was able to find all of these items within 7 minutes at a comparable price. I used to shop at Aldi intermittently a lifetime ago in a different state. When i moved back I totally forgot all about it until another yelper reintroduced it to me. I went once about a year ago and then decided to revisit today. Located in the heart of laguna woods, next to dollar tree Aldi is a hidden gem. As I was going aisle by aisle checking out what they had, i realized the prices are really reasonable and the type of products are kinda cool. There is something for everyone. From food products, chocolates, produce, to a cool aisle filled with random stuff. On todays haul, i bought some healthy dried fruit mix, Belgian chocolate, 9.4 pH basic water, food container and a cute sun hat for my floof. They also have seasonings similar to trader joes "everything bagel" and even Paddles for pickle ball. Literally, something for everyone. Im definitely coming back again. Thank you to K.N for reintroducing me to this option , i have another option to shop for groceries, and treasure hunt at the same time. read more

Aldi's is my go to for Strawberries, Blackberries, Blueberries Tomatoes Cara Cara Cara Oranges Great Feta cheese, Organic Milk, Crab legs, scallops. Good Chocolate bars. Then they have the aisle that has Aldi Finds! My friend found a pair of great garden shoes there for $12.99. They have unique things for sale and at great prices. I love shopping at Aldi's. First time shopping at an ALDI! As a Trader Joe's fan, I've always heard great things about the store -- and they're mostly true! The store has such a vast selection and the prices are very affordable! I live near Aldi Laguna Woods. This store was my pride and joy and my favorite supermarket. The store recently changed its layout, moving the produce department to the supermarket entrance, which displeased many customers. I've been recommending this store to my relatives who complain about other stores like the new El Toro x Muirland. However, today I'm embarrassed to have mentioned it. I don't know what happened in the last three weeks. The store is incredibly dirty, with trash everywhere, including the checkout area. Please look after the store and take care of it. Occasionally certain things can be low in stock depending on sales but I'm still always happy with my finds. Lots of vegetarian /vegan options too! And great wine selection. The manager is afraid of losing his job! Tried to buy 30 Turkeys to donate to South County Outreach to feed the needy and he would not budge! Plenty of Turkeys on hand for other customers he he told me that corporate would not let him and there was a limit of 2 per customer' Went to Smart & Final and had no problem ordering the Turkeys that we needed' Obviously The manager has no authority and no care fora needy cause ! A bigger version of Aldi's, located right next to the retirement community of Laguna Hills. Shopper demographics skew older here as expected, but the Aldi operated like others we've been (need a quarter to 'rent' a cart, bag your own groceries, very few name brand product). A lot of the aldi brands look remarkably similar to the name brands (I know that the store brands of the major grocery chains do the same, but Aldi really takes it to a new level). You don't save much (and can actually pay more than a major grocery store) if you buy name brand beer alcohol here. But we like the cheese section here (good value). They have self checkout (4) with no lines, and using that was a great idea. Because the limited amount of fresh produce, there wasn't much product that didn't have a barcode to scan, so checkout was fast. There are paper bags for purchase if you didn't bring your own reusable ones. So we really didn't need any human interaction on our trip. Grocery cart returns can get backed up so can sometimes pick up a cart that someone is returning, without having to use that quarter, if you hang around the shopping cart area, if you forgot your quarter! read more

I bought some yogurts and cut cantaloupe to take home, one of the yogurt was moldy and the cantaloupe tasted sour. I had diarrhea on the next day. I didn't go back to return them bc the weather is so hot and I'm disabled. Their two shopping motor vehicles are either broken or in use and their staff is probably overworked since none of them have a smile or is willing to help. Even for some of the cheaper prices, I am not sure if they are worth to shop there. I gave them two stars since they at least have one working motorized shopping carts, and some of the produce are less expensive. read more

I have never heard of ALDI until I moved here last year. But I am overall surprised by this grocery store. Yes, limited selections but enough to keep me there. Fresh produce that last longer than most grocery stores I find. Shelves are hit and miss with being stocked, but usually inventory is there. They do mix up their inventory weekly. But the main reason I enjoy it there is the pricing. Yesterday 8 bags full for $143. This would have cost over $200-250 at a regular grocery store. My only complaint is the check out. When I Was there Sat 2pm, only 1 check out open with a long line. Self service was open, but I dont self check out a huge cart of groceries, thats NOT my job. At least the check out guy was friendly and nice. They need to work on the check out process better. read more

It was my first time going to an Aldi store and I went to this one. The customer in front of me left his bag and groceries for the shopper to pack. As a person who was a Cashier at sprouts for 2 years, the cashier didn't bag the guys items and put them in the cart. And when the customer was going to leave with the cart to bring them to his car, with a very nasty attitude and without making eye contact, the cashier told him that he was gonna keep the cart. Like coming to this Aldi. Located right next to Dollar Tree so plenty of parking all around. I always find a good deal down Aldi Finds aisle. There's also a good variety of fresh produce, meats, and cheeses. Staff is super friendly and helpful. I was looking for their seasonal charcuterie board and the staff member went back in their stock room to look for me. What a nice guy! Also if I'm looking for imported chocolates this is also a good place to find it! read more

It's about a 3.5 star affair... Limited options but pricing seems solid. I sniffed in here for canned pumpkin, organic blueberry preserves and other baking ingredients. It has a Smart and Final warehouse kind of feel or Grocery Bargain Outlet. I really like this Aldi. The layout makes it very easy to navigate. There is enough space to move around even during peak times. I just did yet another receipt comparison and Aldi is less expensive than every other grocery store, including Costco. I love that they carry some of the best brand names such as Fairlife and Rao's. The Aldi brand is really good for chocolate, cheese, and refrigerated meals. The numerous self-checkout kiosks eliminate the checkout line at this particular location. If you can get over the need to bring a quarter, your own bags, and check yourself out, it is well worth the savings. read more

First time here Aldi reminds me of a smaller Walmart grocery store. It's definitely quirky and has unique characteristics. Pros: -Smaller in size can get through the aisles quickly -Clean and bright -Aisle categories/signage is good -Organic produce -Good pricing on baking items (yeast/flour, etc) -Friendly cashier, comfortably seated on a swivel chair Cons: -Not the most fresh produce but lower pricing makes up for it My go to grocers are Sprouts/Trader Joes (obviously) and Mission Ranch Market. I don't think Aldi stands out enough to be part of my regular rotation, unless I am going to the Dollar Tree (which is next door) and still need to go grocery shopping. read more

TIP: Make sure you have 25cents to use a shopping cart. They have this lock system that you need to put in your 25cents to release the cart and it stays in the cart and will only spit it back out once you return the cart to its place. I guess it saves them labor just by keeping you accountable. No more people to go out and collect carts. I've never heard of this grocery store until it recently opened on my route to and from work. Decided to stop by and check it out when they had coupons for the $5 off $25. It's located in this slowly newly renovated plaza on the corner of El Toro and Moulton, where the old Vons used to be at. It reminds me of a smaller version of Fresh and Easy. They have a decent selection of goods. The produce look good. It's pretty well stocked with the necessities. Some dry goods like office supplies and activity books for children. Decent selection of frozen meats ranging from chicken to steak to lamb. I am a sucker for cheese. Their cheese selection here is huge. There's an entire refrigerated section just for that and their cured deli meats. Great idea if you're on a budget yet want to be bougie with a charcuterie, this is the place to be. If you're brand conscious, then this may not be the place for you since they carry the generics but they do a very good job making the logos and packaging extremely close to the original brand. Tight! LOL. Cashiers here get a high stool to sit on while working. The check out lines are very simple and short, it's not 7 feet long for you to pile on all your items. They don't bag the stuff for you but they do provide you with a roomy counter towards the end of the check out stands for you to bag your own goods. Overall, quality is okay. Pricing is relatively cheap. Not a bad addition to this area. read more

I came into Aldi the other day to get a few items and I was having some major trouble finding exactly what I needed. An employee named Ryan saw I was having some difficulty and asked if he could help me with anything. He proceeded to help me find not only a few things I was looking for, but everything! Now usually when I shop, this is not the case. The store employee will usually help point me in the direction of something. Ryan actually took his time to walk me around the store to get the items I needed instead of just telling me where things were. This is outstanding and exceptional service. I asked Ryan what his position was, and he let me know he is an Assistant Manager. I am glad Aldi has put him in a position to be at this higher employment status. I must commend Ryan for his knowledge and willingness to help me find the items I needed. I wish to be recognized by the managers of Aldi and would recommend him to either receive a raise or a promotion. Stores need people like Ryan, employees like him really make a difference. Today was the first time that my wife and I visited an Aldi's store. This location in El Toro was very organized and clean. Food isles were very spacious. You sanitize your own shopping cart, oh, and it was new to me the whole 25 cents and shopping cart deal. So if you want to use a shopping cart, you'll need 25 cents, the quarter will be inserted in a coin slot on top of the handle bar at the rear. If you want your coin back at the end of your trip, you have to bring the cart back to the cart holding station and push the cart in and use the front cart metal dangling key to free up your coin, jajaja I know it sounds complicated but it's not once you see it. The store has lots of variety of products and different onces that I have never seen before. They also have some other miscellaneous stuff in there like the $7 cozy house shoes, and some toys. Obviously, their biggest section it is for the food. Prices are really good compared to other stores. There's also lots of parking. Cashiers are friendly. Overall, great store to go to if you live close by! read more

I'm a "Senior" who has been shopping at the Aldi's store in Laguna Woods since they opened! I shop there at least 4-5 times a week! I have become friends with Sergio, Ryan, and many others of their excellent, hard-working employees! Aldi's employees always treat us with kindness and respect! This is SO important for Seniors, as we often need "extra help and patience", as I do, since I'm deaf! I highly recommend Aldi's to my friends and neighbors! I love coming for the rotating set of items. You never know what you can find, but you always get a good deal here. Their prices are always low and of great quality. TIPS: - remember to bring a quarter for the cart; if you forget, you can ask for a "token" from one of the cashiers - best time to shop & avoid crowds is after about 7pm (any day of the week) - bring your own bags if you'd don't want to pay ~$0.13 a bag - skip "name brand" items and try some of their generic versions! Between the savings & quality of the products (i found that many of the aldi versions tend to have less questionable ingredients while still being very delicious!!) Like any other standard Aldi's/European style grocery store, they keep overhead costs low by only hiring enough staff to check out your groceries & stock shelves, keeping their product offerings limited, and decor minimal. Honestly, seeing how cheaply priced many of their products are, I can't complain. Staff is professional & pleasant enough; I don't expect/need them to carry a convo with me when their job is to make sure they get me checked out quickly so they can help the next customer. Occasionally, they won't carry something I need, and can frequently run out of certain products, which is why I deducted a star. Besides that, no complaints from me! read more

I love Aldi, great prices, often interesting fun finds and also they sell some random European sweets or other food items which I appreciate. There isn't a lot of choice, and if you are going for something specific for a recipe (coconut milk, basil, etc) they probably won't have it, but its great for basics food items. Be very careful shopping here especially with produce, I over heard the manager MARIAH explain to her employee who was training that it was acceptable to pick up blueberries that had scattered all over the floor and repackage them. I explained to them that they can get people sick and are potentially exposing people to food that had been on the ground and possibly contaminated with viruses and bacteria, and that it was both unethical and ridiculous to save the company a few dollars by potentially getting people sick. She laughed me off saying that she is the manager and that people can just wash them off when they get home.... Blueberries Please report MARIAH to the district manager for further training on matters like this considering there is both a hospital and a retirement community adjacent. Who carries quarters with them any more???? Instead of making it easy for the customer to purchase more of their product they made carts available for a quarter. So you cannot really shop more than what you can carry by your hands. They dont even have baskets. This business model might work in Germany or Europe but it is not going to work in CA. Come on, people! They are shooting themselves in the foot. The money they save by loosing less shopping carts is far less than what they loose by people shopping less. read more
