I have not had very Many good experiences at this Ralph's . And I try not to shop there especially if I have any coupons to use because the cashiers are either lazy or do a bad job scanning them . I had a coupon for $10 and several other coupons . I asked when she was done ringing me up if she scanned the coupons and she said "yes I did". When I got to my car and looked at the receipt I saw that None Of Them were used. I went back in and the cashier called over someone else and she gave them my Coupons and I told her they weren't scanned. . She took my receipt and the coupons and went over to another register and did something and gave me back My receipt and said " here you go" . No apology that there was a mistake and that I had to come back into the store. Not even have a nice day . Then when I got to my car I looked at the new receipt and guess what ? She only used the $10 coupon and not any of the other coupons ! At that point I just went home. I have only been there maybe 2 more times since that incident and have had unfriendly & unhelpful cashiers both times. They are also very rude and impatient if you have any questions about any discounts on the app and talk to you like you're an idiot. I know the manager from the other Ralph's on country club and she is terrific so I'm surprised her cashiers are so unhelpful . This particular Ralph's has a front-end supervisor who is rude, abrasive, and has no clue how to act appropriately with someone with disabilities. I stood at the customer service desk for over ten minutes while a cashier and a courtesy clerk both tried to get this woman's attention to help me. She was standing by a storage closet talking about personal things and gossiping. When she finally did come over, I told her I had been waiting for some time and needed help. She rolled her eyes and said, 'Fine what do you want?' I asked her to make some change for me, and she pointed to the Coinstar machine and said, "There's a change machine over there." I told her I needed a person to help me, and asked, "I thought stores needed change?" She said, in a very nasty tone, "We use a BANK for that." She then walked away. I took my phone out to photograph her, and she yelled at me in front of everyone, "HAVE A NICE DAAAAY! no less than SIX TIMES. Then she yelled at me as she was following me to, "Get out of [her] store!" I walked across the store and left. She followed me outside and was contacting the Sheriff's Dept. and told them I was disturbing the peace and refusing to leave AFTER I was already outside the store. I went to the car to wait for my wife while she and another employee stood in the doorway staring at me. I texted my wife and told her what had happened. When my wife made it to the register they were talking about me and laughing. My wife asked them if they were talking about the man that just left, they said, "No, we are talking about Home Depot." My wife knew by what they were saying that they were talking about me so she informed them that I had a disability - autism, and that there was no reason for her to have treated me like that. Yolanda then said to her, "We have people with autism that come here all of the time - we KNOW how to 'handle' them. If a manager or higher level person reads this review, I believe this employee should be disciplined, retrained in complying with ADA, and sensitivity training. I WILL NOT be returning to this Ralph's location EVER. I will also tell as many people that will listen to NOT shop there. The Ralph's closest to my home, Indio, and Palm Desert Ralph's, both have courteous and helpful employees. My experience usually with Ralphs is always good but today when I went into the bread aisle, and I was looking for some bread for the week I found this in the back. So this store recently hired a senior citizen for the wine department. This man had a wealth of knowledge about wine and has worked with numerous wineries over his career. Kendra the manager tells him there is a pallet in the back room that needs to be worked. He tells her he is doing the best he can stocking shelves, assisting customers, running back and forth to get keys to unlock cabinets to get customers items they want. Kendra fires the man. Talk about not using a man with a wealth of knowledge that could increase sales. She is an idiot asking him to work pallets of back stock that the stockers should have been doing. There are things I like to buy at Ralph's but I hate putting up with cashiers who behave as if you are doing them a great favor by shopping there. This last time, Maria C. attempted to overcharge, refused to allow me to figure out how to use a digital coupon and kept sighing heavily. So slow that TWICE, other cashiers came over and took products to their own station to keep things moving. Not going back to this location unless I absolutely need La Brea bread. On the positives, the store is large has a wide variety of staples and fresh fruit. The meat and fish departments are standard and about what I see at other Ralphs supermarkets. The cheese department is very good with an excellent selection of cheese. The liquor area has a great selection of wines. On the negative side, we had a number of "sale items" that did not ring up at the correct price. The cashier offered to get someone to go and look up what correct price was; but Hey! we are retired and have a busy life. We haven;'t got time to wait for the cashier to 1. find someone; 2 have that person find the item; 3; report back. We ended up leaving about 30 dollars of items unpurchased. That is Ralphs loss, not ours. Checkout is slow. Many aisles were not staffed and there were long lines for checkout. Please be aware that this store is charging you a connivence fee for your cash back. They clearly do not say that on the card pad but it is as clear as day on the big screen by the cashier . Once I saw the 75 cent charge for my 20.00 I cancelled my transaction .. Cashier said run the card again, which I did and I informed her that I did not want to pay the fee. She looked away rolled her eyes and treated me poorly with a bad attitude, when I stated that they should have it on the pad to inform the customer of the charge. I came home and goggled is this practice legal ?? and it is NOT in the state of CA and there is a pending law suit against KROGER for doing so. This Ralphs is OVERPRICED and understaffed with rude individuals. You can go to Staters or Albertsons across the street and there is no fees for cash back. I told a friend my story and her grandson wanted 100.00 back and they charged him 2.00 and he says they do it all the time. I found this quote on line pertaining to this exact practice that we should not be charged. **************************************************************** Adding a cash back fee whenever a customer completes a cash back transaction using a debit card would violate these rules. According to one article, by assessing these "convenience" fees, Kroger, the parent company of Ralphs, Food 4 Less, and Foods Co., is able to take an extra $75 million a year from its customers. I live very close to this store and have been going here for years. I really enjoyed their loyalty program and digital coupons until recently. As it so happens, last year (actually a bit prior to) I would see the 4 X bonus Coupon - which would take your register total and multiply the TOTAL amount by FOUR and award you that amount fuel points. Meaning: their policy was ( coupon or not, whatever dollar amount you spent, if you used your club card/phone number affiliated number) you would get a point awarded towards fuel points for each dollar. In this past month of March, I have been using the pick up service, I broke my leg. I noticed on my receipt, they had not been rewarding me with the 4X points. For instance., in one scenario, my bill was approximately $233.00, yet only given 88 points. I contacted customer support via chat on the Ralphs App. They immediately took care of the situation right away! I was immensely pleased! This actually went on for the next three weeks. On week four, I ran into an associate who basically went into shaming me for my purchases. She said that even though I waited all week long to make food and alcohol purchases on Friday so I could utilize the coupon, alcohol purchases weren't valid for the 4X coupon and I was practically taking advantage of the system. No where on the digital app coupon is there even an asterisk * leading you or me to believe there's any fine print about this coupon. A live associate did reach out to me and said she was correct and said all other reps were being courteous to me by awarding the extra points. I call bees wax on that because before I broke my leg and was going into the store buying the alcohol myself, I was still getting 4 X the points. Those points helped a lot during those sky high gas prices. . I most likely won't going back. I've been shopping at Kroger for some time now and this just seems ridiculous. He will literally throw his hands in the air walk away from hos job and tell someone to take over. In all my years of customer service I've never met someone so rude. This has happened on multiple occasions and I've witnessed him do it to other customers as well. My husband and I have been shopping at Washington street Ralphs for 8 years and we spend a lot of money in this store every week. Not sure who the mgrs were before but the last couple years the mgrs Kendra and Chris are awful. I run a business and provide customer service for my clients and Kendra and Chris need a course in customer service. There's been a few issues over the last year and after today I decided to write a review. One issue was for pet food that had mold inside so I called the pet company and sent photos in case they needed to pull their product. The company mailed me 3 coupons to use next time I shopped but the Ralphs cashier checked with the manager and was told they can't accept it. I showed the photos of the mold in pet food bought there (also so they were aware in case it's in other refrigerated pet foods) but they would not accept the coupons. I decided to try a different store and was able to use one coupon at another Ralphs and one at Albertsons without any problem. Back at my local Ralphs I had one coupon left and explained that the other stores took the coupons (for the bad pet food purchased at this store) but the mgr still would not take it. Another time, after I left the store I realized I was overcharged by Chris for the 6 bottles of wine. We buy 6 to get the lower price but I was charged the full price. I took my receipt back and was credited but again the amount was not correct. Chris acted irritated, like he was doing me a favor, when it was his mistake. I had to come back twice to get my money back which was fine, everyone makes mistakes, but to be treated that way is not acceptable. There's been a few other issues, like trying to exchange an unopen bottle of wine with the receipt because I wanted the low calorie wine and by accident got the regular kind .. but nope Chris would not let me exchange it. The other Ralphs exchanged it with no problem. Another time I needed help with a purchase and Kendra was snotty and made rude comments at me. Recently we had purchased wine and used the carrier box Ralphs provides and the bottom fell out and two bottles of broke all over our kitchen floor. I took photos and called Ralphs right away but Chris said he wouldn't replace them. I went to another Ralphs with my receipt and the mgr there was happy to replace them. She said they've had problems with the wine boxes breaking and they are getting the wine bags back in. I am not sure what's going on with the mgrs at my local Ralphs but it's awful. I only go there because it's close and we get gas points. I was so upset at how we have been treated numerous times that I ended up calling corp office and they said they would follow up. Now I notice when we shop and see Chris or kendra it feels like I'm a target and get an attitude and most of the cashiers are cold. We try to shop more often at Albertsons or another Ralphs. Although we shouldn't have to be inconvenienced to shop elsewhere due to this stores poor management. Anyhow I hope you have better luck than we do because we certainly don't deserve to be treated this way! No one does!! read more

I have been a regular shopper at Kroger in Michigan for 30 years , I moved to Palm Desert, California a few years ago. Until recently I did most of my grocery shopping at Ralphs in Bermuda Dunes, California. A couple weeks ago I was insulted by the rudest cashier I have ever come in contact with, it was near closing time, his name was Mike! He refused to honor a sale item at the register, instead insulting me in front of other customers. When I repeatedly asked him to call the manager over, to corect this mistake on his part, he kept refusing , continuing to insult me. I asked why he wouldn't call a manager or his boss over, he said he makes the decisions and now he refuses to sell me the sale item I wanted. I have not shopped there since this altercation and unless someone contacts me from the Ralphs company I won't be back. I want this poor excuse of an employee disiplined! With the amount of competing supermarkets in the immediate area, (Albertsons, Grocery Outlet, right across the street) and Stater Brothers a mile away you would think Ralphs employees would be going out of their way to make customers welcome! If I could I'd give it 0 stars, there's a short stubby lady in the deli, she's beyond rude, I was looking at the sushi/premade sandwiches they have there and she's going on in Spanish, talking crap about multiple people that work there, loud and obnoxiously in front of customers, no one works the counter, and when you do get someone or when they attempt to have someone service you they're rudely asking you what you need like they don't want to be there. They have to call people from different departments to get some help and they're beyond nice then these people. Somehow when I came back to switch my sandwich, there were 3 women standing near the back fryer just gossiping meanwhile an older lady was helping 3 customers by her self. Pretty screwed up if you ask me. I've been coming here for a while and it's gone down hill A "manager" up front with now pink hair Rachel or something, completely rude, she stares down my daughter even though she can't even look straight, and gives her dirty looks. The shorter stubby one up front has always been rude, ever since I started coming here. Rude, disrespectful but nice to the young men she works with? Favorite department is cheese, genuinely, I had a summer kick off party, and the ladies Christy and Marionette(?) were absolutely amazing with helping me find the exact cheeses I needed for my charcuterie boards. Marionette was super knowledgeable about what cheeses are good to pair with what meets and what I could use for a cheese dip, very helpful. Christy had a super sweet demeanor and smile, I genuinely appreciate these 2 women. Carol was absolutely fantastic at checkout, she's super sweet and I appreciate the small conversation at checkout every-time I slip through her line! Genuinely fed up with certain areas of this store, and the main manager of the store doesn't seem to do anything about it. Sad sad sad. If you like to ring up and bag your own items, this is the store for you! This store has the absolute worst customer service and we all know Ralph's prices are sky high. Go across the street to Albertsons where the deli and bakery items are fresher and there are multiple check stands open along with courtesy clerks to bag your items and offer help out. Things that make Ralphs stand out to me for my shopping needs are: Noodles... Chicken... Fresh Fruit/Veggies I can find the noodles that I like there while many other places just don't carry them... Sounds funny huh? BTW, I love the Shin Black Ramen Noodles... you should try them sometime. Ok, next...They have an assortment of rotisserie chicken... And the only place I've seen that has a salt free rotisserie chicken option... Although I don't choose it, it's nice to see and I've been able to recommend it to people that do need salt free choices... Their fresh fruit is indeed fresh...That should be a no brainer but it's not because I can't even buy bananas at Target because they usually all go bad within 1-3 days depending on how lucky I am...and don't even get me started about Walmart's stinky broccoli...I wish I could make this stuff up but I can't... Ralph's also has tons of Organic fruits & veggies. The meat & eggs I've bought there have always been good as well. Ralph's has a great selection of groceries in general j their staff are usually very nice & helpful.... The store is always clean and has a nice appearance. I come to this Ralph's often. It's clean inside but there deli section needs help. First off the customer service there is rude. I buy the fried chicken meals here often and lately they have been giving you old, dry chicken that has been sitting under the heater lamps all day. Usually they would make you fresh fried chicken to go. Not anymore. It use to be so good here. I came here the other day, the boy that was working there behind the counter said they don't have the family chicken meals they are doing when there is a sign right by him saying family chicken meals with sides, I always get this and he refused to give me that deal. He also had a bad attitude and acted like he wanted to get out of here fast so he didn't want to do the deal or make more chicken. When we got home he also gave all little pieces of wings that were dried out and not what he's suppose to give us. This has been everytime I come in they never have any chicken available fresh. It's all dry and hard. They don't care to make new fresh chicken for anybody. A lot of the sides and salads are not even made and put out. I think they are lazy here and just want to get rid of the old food and not make fresh chicken or sides. However I wouldn't mind waiting for the chicken to be fresh if they did even make it...because I shop here as well. But they don't even care or offer to make new chicken when I asked many times!!! I don't think I'll be back here again if this is how they treat there customers here buying food they want....Shouldn't be hard to make more fresh food as customers want that they are paying for. My review is not based on the store, so much as the incredibly rude cashier at checkout. Her name is Norma S, & her attitude was very annoying. She refused to help us bag our groceries, & we had an entire cart full. My husband & I tried to get the job done as fast as possible, but she nastily tried to just not allow us to finish. This is for the employee who assists customers in the self-checkout area. "Bertha" or "Brenda", the old woman with brown hair. . I frequent this store about 2-3 times per week and always use the self-checkout lane. This woman never seems to be enthusiastic about her job and just stares at the customers in silence. She's given me assistance a few times but wasn't friendly about it, every time I've walked past her she never once thanked me for shopping at Ralph's but thanked other customers as they walked out. I'll start using the regular check-out lane so I can avoid her unfriendly demeanor. LOL, I'm willing to wait in a regular line to avoid a certain employee. Self-checkout today- Avery was the clerk there. He is the most rude and belligerent employee I have ever seen. Absolutely yelled at me while I was checking out. Age-ism it was because I'm older. This big mouth wouldn't treat a younger person that way. Avery should not be employed in any capacity other than floor sweeper!! He's worked there for 42 years but needs to be re trained. I've been going to this Ralph's for dam near 20 years I've always had a fantastic time here with all the employees and always fresh food , but I just had the WORST experience , I just had my birthday a few weeks ago I turned 28 and just so happens I needed to renew my license .... I did but I'm still waiting on it in the mail , I'm guessing covid is to blame (like everything else) so I went to Ralph's and did my normal shopping for my family and grabbed a 6pack of 805 for my husband , note : I stopped wearing a mask as the mandate has already been lifted ; I went to the check out line and it happened to be a young kid and a young girl bagging , right when I walked up the kid was rude and hinting gestures at his fellow employees about his dislike of my nonexistent mask, I quickly noticed and just wanted to get it over with and get out , it was now an awkward situation... he was very rude the whole time until he found something he could be Authoritative about , he asked rudely for my id for the beer I had already laid it on the counter when I had first arrived to his line so I just pointed at it and said thank you , he ripped it off the table and immediately started to freak out about the date 2 weeks ago it expired LOL , I told him I had the paper in the car and that I had renewed it he chuckled and set my beer to the side and said no as rude as he could , I've NEVER had this issue at any other store, btw this young mans name is Colby . Well Colby you also decided to forget to give me my bacon and my coffee creamer and my husband had to go get it . That was a hassle as well , he was rudely talked to by another young child that works with little Colby.
