This Raleys has been around for as long as I could remember. It used to be on the next block over, but a few years ago Raleys closed that store and moved over here where Capitol Nursery used to be and built this big impressive building for their new store. It's big, very spacious, and 2-story. There's seating with comfortable sofa and chairs & tables upstairs for enjoying anything you buy from the deli like from the sandwich counter or bakery and they even have a microwave. The store has everything you would expect in a regular Raleys but probably more selection just because the store is so big. I like Raleys produce which is always fresh and often local. The staff are usually friendly and efficient. All in all, Raleys is a solid store. read more

Raleys is my favorite grocery store because they have great weekly sales, but i don't usually go to the one on Freeport Blvd. I did today and it was a pretty busy day in the store. Most likely because of the last day of the great 3-day weekend sale. The18-count eggs were $1.99. The lines were long but I was fortunate there were only three people in front of me...so I thought. The longer lines were rolling pretty quickly, but our cashier decided to be pretty chatty with SOME of her guests. The two gentlemen in front of me must have really caught her attention because she started a conversation with them right away, without them initiating it. It took her more than 10 minutes to ring them up because she kept stopping and talking, and I could not believe that she was disregarding the line growing behind me. I thought she'd greet me just as nicely since i greeted her very friendly, but I guess i didn't have the same effect as the gentlemen in front of me. So my rating was more so regarding the inconsistency in customer service. read more

Whoever that kid was making sandwiches at the deli today seriously skimped me on the Dagwood I ordered. I literally watched him throw on a few slices of meat, and when I called him out on it, he told me, "That's how it comes." Nope. I come here specifically for that sandwich all the time, and it's always loaded with meat. Honestly, it felt like he was too lazy to open new packs. He didn't even add mustard, salt, or pepper. Just a smear of mayo, a tiny sprinkle of veggies, and called it good. Then he proceeds to hand me a poorly wrapped sandwich. Just holding it I could tell it was not made how it's supposed to. If I wanted a sad, half-made Subway sandwich, I wouldn't have come here. read more

Adj: Dependable Like a faithful friend you can always count on is this Raley's. It's been on Freeport for decades! In fact I believe this is the flagship store and Raley's truly is a local establishment as the Raley family still owns and operates all of their stores throughout Sacramento and the bay area. Long ago, it was down the block a little bit, but it moved to this new location a block north where Capitol Nursery used to be. This Raley's location has now been here for almost 6 years as it has been in the Land Park neighborhood since it officially opened in April 2020. I didn't know this, but apparently it's 55,000 sf large! It's huge! I don't think there's another store location as big as this one. The previous site at 4850 Freeport Blvd was "only" about 35,000 sf and is being made into a Chuze Fitness gym, expected to open in summer 2026. What I like about this Raley's besides how new and clean it is, is that it really was thoughtfully designed especially with its modern touches, second floor mezzanine seating, outdoor dining, and a tasting room (also upstairs). The store also pays historical tribute to its history in Sacramento, featuring its refurbished iconic Raley's monument sign and the neon sign from Capital Nursery. The only thing that's challenging is that the parking lot is often very very busy and can be hard to find parking. Although generally more expensive than the other grocery stores I shop at, such as Safeway and Grocery Outlet, besides the all-under-one-roof big box and warehouse stores Target, Walmart, and Costco, the service at Raley's is usually more attentive and the store in much better shape in cleanliness and organization. Even though it's a privately held company, Raley's is not employee owned and was founded in 1935 by Tom Raley, so the company is now in its third generation of family ownership. Raley's operates over 230 locations, including Raley's, Bel Air, Nob Hill Foods, and Bashas' across several western states to include CA, NV, AZ, NM, OR, WA, and even AK. Specifically at this store, they really carry a lot of inventory, but not only of national brands and their own store brands, but what I like is that Raley's carries a lot of local brands to, to include boutique and mom & pop companies that are starting up and featuring a lot of homemade and farm-to-fork foods and products. Raley's also seems responsive to feedback from their customers such as the grocery economics we're all facing right now. So Raley's has rolled out a membership program that's free to join and you can then add lots of members-only deals on their app or website, and there's also weekly deals and specials. Overall, Raley's is a great grocery store that often gives back to the communities where they are, such as their generous giving to local schools and other good causes. It offers quality food and daily essential products. It's good to know that when I shop at Raley's, I'm supporting local and indirectly giving back to our community. read more

This is for your shopping carts. I get that you have a security feature to lock the wheels to keep the homeless from stealing your carts. But at least make the setting go over to the nearby stores. You don't have enough parking all the time to park close to your store. Today the cart locked up right by buckhorn grill. I couldn't move it back toward Raleys or anywhere. I had to put it on two wheels to make it move. Also had to figure out how to carry. 30 pack, 9 pack and grocery bag past buckhorn grill. On a mission for crab and this place has an insane deal. Went to Safeway and no dice. Came here since we were in the area. Good news bad news.... Good news they had Dungeness crab for 9.99/lb. Bad news it was frozen. The deli is able to break the crab down in terms of taking the head and cleaning but only if it's defrosted. Whomp whomp whomp. This review is specifically for the bakery. Went in after 6 hours on the road driving to Sac to visit family and wanted to get my sis a birthday cake last minute. The lady helping us was super helpful with recommendations and decorating the cake. The cake was also surprisingly sooo good. I typically get cakes from my favorite local bakery in Southern California and didn't have high expectations. However, this cake was good and my whole family enjoyed it. Really bummed about the meat department. I bought a tri tip tonight and was frustrated to see how much fat cap was left on the back side of the meat. The top looked perfect; when I got it home, it was a much different story. Take a look at the pictures! I cut off over 10.5 ounces of fat . More than $7 I had to cut off. I like this Raley's. Always clean. Seems like they had a rough patch with employees for a bit, but recently everyone has been really nice. They offer one piece of fruit for kids, I always get my baby a banana. Their salad bar always looks fresh. Nice bathrooms, but some of the people I see going in there....I wouldn't want to use after. I like that their sinks are outside the restroom so if I need to wash my hands it's easily available. Really great flower selection. They have a really nice seating area upstairs. Wish they would do something about all the people that steal from there though. read more

I used Raley's DoorDash this week and the young man who delivered the groceries made several mistakes. First, she delivered my groceries to the wrong house and other groceries to my house then he took about half an hour to reverse that and get my groceries back. Then I asked for true stay Band-Aids and instead he gave me assorted Band-Aids, which are totally useless. I didn't know how to correct this so I went to the store and traded them I would recommend that you use shoppers that are more insightful and thorough in choosing my groceries I imagine this young man had never bought bandaged in his life. The loft is a great place to bring your laptop and get work done or just chill out to escape the Sacramento heat, as well as the perfect place to hang out for Tesla superchargers. I do wish, though that they would somehow improve the lighting-it seems very dark in there sometimes especially if you were near the back Also, while the daily items are generally tasty The great Claire's style potato salad can be kind of hit and miss. It seems that sometimes the potatoes are not cooked fully and are hard .too bad since if the potatoes are done right it's a great potato salad. I used Raley's for an online catering order for an event I hosted. My order of 2 large charcuterie trays and 2 large cookie trays were loved, complimented, and raved about by all attendees. This Raley's location went above and beyond to provide me with the best service, and there was an employee woman working at the deli counter the morning of 9/17 who helped me- she was so kind and informative! The employees brought the order out and put it into my car, and truly made a stressful day so easy! I highly recommend this Raley's for shopping and catering orders. Bad service, won't greet you unless you are the right color... So yes, I made a mistake I input the wrong pin... right away I said let me unlock my card and I stepped to the side. As soon as it was clear I went back and ready to pay and she just started scanning the other ladies groceries and looked at me oh... yes oh I told you give me a sec I locked my card. She asked another gentleman if he was busy he said kinda and to ring me up. Waited for a bit but they didn't seem to care if anyone rang me up or not. This should really be 2.5 stars. I've been a Raleys shopper for decades, but this store is making me search for another company. I hate the coupon clipping system. The app isn't easy to navigate and there are usually deals I see in the store even though I looked at the app first. Store wi-fi and cell coverage are abysmal so it causes a ton of frustration. Raleys has been known for good customer service, but the situation at this location seems to be taking its toll on workers. There aren't many workers for such a huge store and a lot of workers there seem curt and unfriendly. On top of it they have poor stocking. Sale items are gone quickly leaving shelves looking like shopping during Covid times. Not a pleasant experience. read more

They have this very aggressive cashier that helped us today named Andrew. He's extremely rude and doesn't bag the items correctly. All of my items were squished and the hard tortilla shells were all broken. It's raining and he didn't bag the rotisserie chicken or wine bottles. I had to ask him to bag it which he did with attitude. Other than that, this raleys is usually fully stocked. Which I love, everything is pretty organised. Let me explain to you why you should shop here. First I know their sushi looks expensive. I know grocery store sushi. It's not great. Even on sale Sprouts is still $5 on Wednesdays. But for twice as much quantity as any other local grocery sushi package it's like $7-8 here for two or three rolls in one. The cookies are bigger and better here than at Safeway and cost about the same. The chocolate chip is the gold standard of measuring cookie quality because it's classic so that's what I'm going by. Customer service is excellent if you make the right decision and skip self check out. No one is in such a hurry they need to scan their own groceries and the machine always breaks anyway. Don't rely on robots to perform human jobs ever. Humans will always have to fix the robots when they break. That's just a life lesson I included in this review. They have an upstairs lounge with a sofa. There is no cover charge to use the sofa at Raleys and you don't even have to pay for anything. Just go up there and hang out. And their cold drink section is A1. They have cold energy drinks, cold sports drinks, cold sugar free beverages, the selection is huge. If you need a cold drink right away I hope you're in this area because you will only find one here. Also it's big. I know people say Raleys is expensive but it really isn't. It's the same price as like every store. To be honest Safeway is more expensive in my opinion and even Grocery Outlet isn't really cheap. Just buy stuff only on sale. You're an adult you should know how to grocery shop by now. Never pay full price for groceries. read more

This store is a great test of my patience. Trying to use the overly cumbersome coupon system is not helped when the in-store wifi prevents the app from even functioning. The pharmacy will call and personally tell you they're filling the prescription in the morning...but don't assume it's actually done several hours later. Instead, show up, be told it'll be another 15 minutes (wait), and then check back 20 minutes later only to be told they don't actually have said prescription. If I'm going to pay a premium for groceries, Nugget is the way to go. I find myself rarely shopping at Raley's anymore. A shame. The new store on Freeport was nicely remodeled. If only customer service lived up to it. read more

I shop at this store multiple times a day as part of my work with Instacart, and I've generally enjoyed my experience. Most of the staff are friendly, and it's easy to find what I need. However, I've had consistent issues with one cashier, Andrew, whose behavior is unacceptable and unprofessional. Andrew has repeatedly been rude and hostile toward me. Every time I approach his line, he gets visibly upset and loudly tells me to go to self-checkout or another register, saying he doesn't want me in his line. On one occasion, he went as far as to claim in front of other customers that "no one likes me in this store," which is not only false but extremely humiliating. Defamation of my character I do not take very lightly! He also refuses to bag my items, stating, "It isn't his job," and when I pointed out that it would take me longer to bag everything myself, he responded, "I don't care. I have all day. I get paid by the hour." To make matters worse, he once said, "I'm doing it the American way--lazy. Americans are lazy." Not to mention Andrew is of Asian descent. I felt discriminated at this point as I am Filipino-American. This type of behavior is unacceptable for any employee, let alone someone in a customer-facing role. I've even spoken to another Instacart shopper who has experienced similar treatment from Andrew. It's disappointing that one employee can create such a negative experience in an otherwise great store. Management should seriously address this issue, as it reflects poorly on the store and makes customers feel unwelcome. read more

I use to shop here a lot but the young staff at the registers are usually chatting amongst eachother, on their phone texting and seem to not care about their job. Today the girl bagging my groceries seemed rude and was bagging my groceries with aggression and then tossing my heavy bags on top of my bags of chips and bread smashing them and when I sad something she didn't act like she cared at all that I didn't want my stuff smashed. Punny Sign is Funny. And Punny. This *new* (I almost put remodeled before I remembered it just moved down a few from the previous Freeport location, oops.) Raley's is one of my preferred one stop shop grocery stores that also happens to have the convenience of being close to home. There's a cool second story overlook with a seating area that the previous store didn't have. I am probably here once a week looking for senior cat food (Monday seems to be a good day for this), quality meats, weird cheese (Between here and Taylor's Market, I have what I need in cheese.), my favorite caffeinated beverages, their store brand condiments (Sweet Heat is INCREDIBLE but I can't have it anymore RIP my digestion.), chocolate, Oat Milk, and sometimes discount Yankee candles. If I want to come buy some beer or other adult bevvies, they do have a good selection and sometimes great sale prices. We got two Old Forester 750 mL bottles a few weeks ago for the price of one. As a bonus, they don't lock up their liquor like the Safeway down the street from me does. Their tall can game is on lock. They've recently expanded their variety of alternative meat products too. Last time I came in needing some items for my aunt's birthday BBQ there were many to choose from. Not only was I able to find a brand I already know tastes great, but I was able to find several flavors of that brand. The bakery is excellent for a grocery store, too. This is not my favorite store for produce, but they do a fine enough job. I have been more pleased with the fruit selection and freshness than that of the vegetables. Bulk hasn't come back yet since the time of the rona, but they do have items you could have previously bought in bulk in little tubs of varied size in the produce section. Holiday candy is not in abundance here, but that is what Target is for. I am not very impressed with the customer service either, but there are plenty of pros to balance that out. No big issues worth noting have come up. Outdoor plants right now are really enticing. Parking is plentiful, but it's a busy one. Another 1 star for Raleys. If I already have a membership number, why does the store force me to visit a website and accept/pre-authorize "specials" prior to shopping? If the store wants to set a special buy, make it automatic with the membership. The "other stores are doing it" excuse doesn't make customers more happy. As I said I go past 3-4 other stores to shop at Raleys. This is a terrible way to reward shopper loyalty. The market is literally driving away customers. I appreciate the response from Raleys. I am a Gen-X, who is familiar with a phone, the internet, and the social media. I am a loyal customer to businesses who value their customers base. I am disappointed that the Store decided to implement this method of advertising. It may be the store's method to collect data or to illicit a more reactive response from customer, but in this day and age when a customers purchases can be directly linked to their membership; the additional "step" is just a nuisance. It is annoying and time consuming. There are stores down the street that do not require membership and electronic ads that require additional steps. I prefer to shop and buy from local vendors and producers, but they look more and more appealing. read more

This is one of the newer locations and the first time we have been here. In front is a nice area with lounging area and tables with chairs to eat or relax. Right when we entered we were greeted by a security guard. There was another one that was armed. Must be a lot of activity here. The place is really big and long isles. It had some stuff that our Belair doesn't have so a little different. It's so nice to be in a new store. Clean and pretty. They have an upstairs dinning and lounge area to. I stepped out to get something from my car and saw that the one security guard was questioning a bum to the north of the entrance. Now I know why so much security. You could tell this guy was a little mental and was going on about the security messing with him. Security was very respectful. I went back in and we finished our shopping and upon leaving there was another homeless guy dumping his large bag off and starting to go through the garbage. yuck so annoying. We do come here often but I must say the elevator to the upstairs area and the tables are not very clean. I thought maybe a fluke but it just keeps getting worse. Generally, this store has been good, aside from the terrible parking situation (not really their fault). But recently we've had issues with them selling food that is spoiled. Once it was a gallon of milk that in spite of being taken straight home and put in a cold fridge went sour/curdled within a few hours of being opened the next day. Most recently we got one of those heavily sealed, square packages of hamburger. It was sold on its "sell by" date and put straight in the refrigerator, but when we tried to cook it the next day it was going bad and literally stank up the whole kitchen with a strong rotten egg smell. There have been a few times when items are past their sell by date as well, and some of their produce (especially berries) are getting moldy or are clearly past their prime when we try to eat them. This is making us reluctant to shop at this Raley's, which is a shame, since it is the store most convenient on the way home from work. It is not convenient to return spoiled items, however, and so we've had to absorb the cost. read more

I remember shopping at the old Raley's, which was located on the next block. It was old and was not a pleasant experience to shop there. I know this is the new location and has been open for 1+ years now. Was in the area and stopped by to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised. New and clean! Lots of new offerings. Loved the bakery, deli, and fresh seafood counter. Has a hot foods take-out buffet. Employees were helpful. This location has a parking lot, but is smaller than the old location. This parking lot is shared with other stores, restaurants and bank. read more

Arrived at the store in under 5 min and was told at the door that they were closed because as of that exact moment it was 6pm. I'm not mad about not being able to shop, I'm furious that the employee on the phone did not mention they were closing in under 5 min. That pos did that on purpose. read more

I really dislike the "new" layout of this store. It seems like they tried to save space by removing the middle isle that goes the width of the store so the isles that run front to back are extra long. It also makes things harder to find because they now share isle space with other items that are usually found in another section. If you need to shop within two hours of closing time forget about the produce as everything is covered up and be sure to bring a warm jacket because it's like walking into a giant refrigerator, and not just on the cold food isles. They are almost always out of at least one common item on my list such as haagen daz vanilla ice cream, especially if it's on sale. This happens every single time! It's especially maddening if my list only has three or four items or something I needed asap so then I am forced to go somewhere else to purchase. Just what I want to do is make another stop, especially at night. All those things are annoying, but this is what absolutely pisses me off about this store is the attitude of the employees at the check stands including the ones bagging your groceries. They frequently do not smile and are not even friendly. It's as if they are silently judging you and for whatever reason have decided you are not worthy of shopping there. It is beyond rude and disrespectful It is not just one or two employees who have this attitude either. What the hell is wrong with these people and who gave them the right to judge anyone, especially people they don't even know? This is the newest Raley's in south Sacramento replaced the old one just across the street. Much much better than the old store they just replaced. This is almost a perfect supermarket in a convenient location. Brand new store in an older neighborhood. The store gives me a very comfortable feeling starts from the parking lot. The parking lot is very big and super clean. Excellent layout and the parking spaces are normal sizes compared to the other very narrow parking in the area. The supermarket is a very modern design with many huge windows and natural light. The aisles are wide and the items are very well organized. The employees are always nice and helpful. They're very attentive and take the initiative to help! This is one of the best supermarkets in town. read more
