Came here as our last ditch effort on a Sunday to have a crab night and yes yes yes they delivered!!!! We called before we came but there was no answer which would have been a bummer after we drove all the way here. Alas the crab my man and I searched for for 2 hours was available. Wooo whooo!!!!! This place was well stocked and organized. The negative star was 1. Nobody answered the phone 2. We went to self check out and there was nobody there and our items weren't scanning. There were multiple workers checking their items out on registers and one even assisted another lady on our way out. That definitely was a bummer to see and not get any assistance from the numerous workers we notice that were actually on duty. I used to shop at Savemart when I lived closer and enjoy the variety of deals they offer. Now that I'm in Instacart, I've started to place orders here as well as my other spots. They offer good quality products, and from my visits the store had a typical ambiance of a fair priced grocery store. Good service and food. read more

The produce section here is seriously lacking! I came yesterday and all of the tomatoes had brown splotches all over them. I needed lemons too and all they had were these mini lemons the size of key limes. There were also moldy tomatoes at another display in the store. It is also inconvenient when using self check out here, if you have any issues or need your bags to be confirmed expect to be waiting around for a few minutes, if there is even a worker around to help you. read more

This store is a rip off. Everything is 2-5 dollars cheaper at Rancho San Miguel Market, it's right down the street and it's where we shop now. Everyone here has a lazy, laidback, could care less attitude. The deli people are too lazy to slice meat fresh and will even argue when you ask. The management is rude and has a "customer is whiny and always wrong" disposition towards problems. Some of the managers don't even dress like they're managers, one of them doesn't even brush his hair and looks like the human equivalent of a muppet and constantly spits when talking. Stuff in here is stocked in ridiculous places, for example: stuffing for chicken is stocked with office supplies. I avoid this place like the plague. Savemart customer service uses AI for responses too, they had the response on this review within five seconds after it was posted. read more

Alert: Arrogant and bias security guard. I went to buy Orchids, Wheat grass and items to make ambrosia last night. As soon as we walked in the store the security guard began following us. Randomly popping up in the same vicinity we just happened to be shopping in. So we stop in the middle of the canned fruit isle. My mom starts scrolling on her PHONE to review our grocery list ..... on her PHONE. We look up and now he's just standing there watching us at the end of the isle. So my mom with her phone in her hand asks him over and over why he was following us. Then she puts her PHONE in the side pocket of her purse. Its still visible. Its literally sticking up out of her purse. Now he is right up on us. She asks him again. And he finally responds with what did you put in your purse and accuses her of stealing. Side note: Who the heck goes to the store to steal flowers, wheat grass and small cans of crushed pineapples?????? Most of our time in the store was in the front of the store in the floral area. He would be a horrible detective!!! Back to the story: He begins to ask what she put in her purse. Her phone is still showing on the side pocket. Now he's demanding to see what's in her purse or he's gonna call the cops. I point at her phone. We both tell him no and I tell him to call the cops OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. He gets his phone out and acts like he's calling the cops but then he puts it away. So I ask him if he called them and he said no. So I tell him again to call the cops because he's WRONG and he accused us of being thieves. So he yells across the store that we're not allowed to buy anything and we're not allowed to come back to the store. Again, I ask why and tell him to call the cops. I wanted it on record that he was wrong. We told him a little about both of our occupations but he refused to believe it because of his own bias. So my mom walks up to who I believe was the manager and tells him that she will show him what's inside of her purse. The manager looks inside her purse and smiles. Guess what there were no canned fruit or anything other than her keys and wallet in her purse. The security then slithers away. Off to accuse more innocent people. No apology for accusing us of being thieves in front of a bunch of strangers. No apology for yelling across the store that we weren't welcome there. No apology for him stealing my time and energy. To the bored security guard. You were wrong and you knew it. Some of the customers who are going to walk into that store work in real law enforcement. You are to arrogant to do that type of job. Find something else to do besides harassing a 70 year old woman walking around with flowers. Fyi: I still got my Orchids and crushed pineapples. read more

I just happen to be in this area going into the Wells Fargo in the same shopping center as this Save Mart is located. I was going to get something for my friend to BBQ me for dinner and since I was here anyways, I'll just go in here and have a look around. I go by the meat department and WOW, what is this? They have Snake River Farms American Waygu Beef here! This is way super high end beef, especially for Save mart to be carrying! I'd think you might find this beef at Whole Foods in upscale Roseville or something, but not here at Save Mart! I see the price tag first, $36/lb. for the rib eye steaks ..... whoa that's a lot I'm thinkin. I call my BBQ friend up and he says that's actually a great price! He says get it! OK, I look in there and see a big thick cut rib eye with lots of marbling. Gimme that one! It's about 1.4 lbs. and costs almost $50 bucks ... for one steak! He said he'll help pay, well, OK then, this is something super high end for me! He seasons and cooks the steak up on a gas grill, reverse sear he says. It does look impressive unwrapped. Cooked up perfect medium edge to edge, no brown parts. The taste, OMFG! I could tell cutting it, the knife went thru so easy and the meat was soft and wiggly as I moved the knife, so tender. That first bite, holy moly steakie wakie!, this was the best beef steak I ever had in my LIFE! Kinda like sex, but even better! My friend agreed, and knew Snake River Beef was some of the best American Waygu, and for the price, a steal! That was such an incredible beef steak, the price was high, but OK, so worth it. This is the worst savemart in all of Sacramento, its nearby where I live and I always make the mistake of thinking it's convenient, it's anything but. They literally hide all of the for sale items, the store is poorly stocked and seems like it's organized by a five year old, for instance, they're keeping turkey stuffing in the stationary isle, stuff like this makes for a frustrating shopping experience. When ever they have a sale, they will hide the for sale items in some obscure location so that they're near impossible to find. The employees are never able to help either and just give a generalized location as to where to find it.(usually wrong.) I came here for corned beef that they're offering a sale on and they don't even have it anywhere to be found, instead they have piles and piles of the more expensive corned beef, this is a common practice at this store where they offer a sale item to bait you in then they'll switch it for a more expensive item. This practice only happens at this location too. If i drive to a different location they always have the sale items on display and easily accessible. This is why this store is the most inconvenient and worst save-mart in all of Sacramento. Everything here is $1.00-$3.00 more expensive than any other store too, it's a total rip off and a bait and switch scam. They aren't saving you squat. All the employees have a better than thou attitude and act as though you're not worth the time because they've made it to the pinnacle of success to be working at savemart. When asked about sales they'll basically shrug their shoulders and tell you "It should be there". Management also has a careless attitude, they seem like over payed CEOs just waiting for the weekends so they can binge on intoxicants. One of the bag boys lives in the area and is even known in the neighborhood hood as a peeping Tom, he likes to follow women around the stores and even stalks them out to the car while he pretends to bring back grocery carts(it's so obvious when he's staring at the women and not even in front of him.) a total creep. He has even been reported to the police and on Nextdoor for looking in the windows of certain houses in the surrounding neighborhoods. He is frequently seen riding his bike around and staring into homes and may even recognize the cars of certain customers and may even be able to find where they live that way. I end up coming here for something simple, not finding it and leaving. There's better stores within five to ten minutes from here and it's worth the extra travel time for a better experience. read more

I had a great experience with a younger cashier here. She was extremely friendly and talkative which made shopping here stand out from other grocery stores. Save Mart has been our "go to" store for several years. Sadly, since change in ownership, I'm seeing many changes, lots of them not positive. They recently closed their West Sacramento distribution center and I'm seeing even more changes. Differences in offered products and higher prices. At the full service meat counter, you can no longer get bulk Italian sausage and the hamburger is unappealing. I used the hamburger this evening in a recipe, and it was very dense and lacking flavor. When asked, the employee told us they'd changed their distributor and couldn't get some of the products they previously carried. In the produce department, I couldn't get sweet onions and finding an unscarred potato was a real challenge. Sometimes I've run into rotting potatoes - strong pass. The grapes are usually very good, but I had trouble this week finding a bag without already going bad grapes. This used to be one of the best produce departments around. Many of the former employees are still on sight, but they seem stressed and aren't as friendly as they once were. Going through ownership and management changes does that to employees. Sadly, we'll be doing more shopping at other area stores. read more

I sent my son to pick up a couple packs of chicken that were on sale. So he went right after he gets out of class , in the rain to savemart. Only to be turned away as soon as he walks in the store due to some new bs policy about no minors between 3-5. So I called to question the customer service person only to be brushed off. So I told my son to go back and ask if she could walk him to the meat department to make sure he wasn't stealing anything only to be told no, it's a new policy. Since when??!! I shop there at least 2-3 times a month and never heard about that policy. And nowhere on the website does it mention that minors weren't allowed. Had I know that I wouldn't have sent my son . Literally just a worse version of a Safeway or Raley's. There's a huge markup on everything they sell and the organization of the aisles leaves much to be desired. Don't come here if you value your time and money, there are better grocery stores. read more

Plenty of parking in the shared lot. Clean interior. It appeared that most of the staff don't wear masks, and I witnessed one inadvertently coughing onto products while stocking the meat section. The self-check out is relatively convenient, no more or less than the next place. I wanted to check out the panino selection, and some of the meat looked dull and discolored. Guess I won't be shopping charcuterie here. I've tried their roll ups/pinwheel sandwiches. They were absurdly dry, which isn't exactly encouraging in regards to trying their other in-house, freshly made items. read more

Not only does it feel like a failing business (think Kmart just before they closed) but its employees seem oppressed, and its prices are astronomically high. I have never seen prices like these!!! a half dozen baked cookies in bakery department $6.99 to 9.99 HALF A DOZEN!!! Eggs lowest price 9.99 a dozen!! Cakes 15.99 Crazy!!! This store gives an appearance of organization, and you can find what you need. I am a self proclaimed whiskey connoisseur, so I decided to look in the alcohol section and see if there was any good deals on some good whiskey I have not tried yet. But as a black man at 8:30 in the morning, when you hear the announcement say security, scan all cameras, all isles, it makes you think that it was for me. Have you ever push a locked grocery cart 100 feet to your car? I have. I'm not a fan. Save Mart has been my primary grocery store for 15 years. It was a factor in buying a house in the neighborhood. I have always counted on Save Mart, and this location in particular, to provide quality groceries with a wide variety of produce and goods at reasonable prices with invariably excellent customer service. During my wife's pregnancy in 2011, I came to the store late, about five minutes before closing, because she needed some medication. The store had been closed early due to low traffic at the late hour. A manager was kind and compassionate enough to reopen the store for my quick meds purchase. I remember noting his continued presence in the store since then, and it was always a positive part of my day seeing him there doing his job with a smile. Now, entry and egress from the store is controlled by one-way gates that prevent customers from leaving the store. Now, to leave, you need to pass through the checkout area, regardless of whether you actually bought something. This was cited as a theft-deterrence measure, resulting in a level of inconvenience I was not expecting and definitely don't appreciate. Then, when bringing my groceries to my car, the cart locked up on me. I was forced to drag the thing about 100 feet to my car, parked in front of nearby Togo's. This was because I was hoping to get lunch after getting my groceries. It was not my plan to spend my lunch break dragging 40 pounds of dead weight through a hot parking lot in front of a bunch of high school kids. I ws so annoyed I didn't even get my sandwich. I just wanted to go home. The staff was friendly enough, until like six of them started yelling at some of those same high school students to not exit through the new security gates. They probably felt like me: "I'm not doing anything wrong! This isn't a big deal! Stop making things difficult for no reason!" I'm starting to wonder whether the Corti Bros. grocery store right next door is a better value. Sure, their prices are premium, but at least I can get my groceries to my car without throwing out my back. To Save Mart management: I know you have a business to run. I understand that you are trying to take steps to minimize loss and improve your bottom line. I hope you also understand that this is the first time I had a negative experience at your store. It is the first time I felt unwelcome there. Please consider the following changes to improve your store: - Expand the range of your shopping carts to encompass the entire parking lot. When things get busy, we can expect the lockdowns to become a much greater issue. - Remove the security gates. They cause more problems than they solve. read more

I live 2 blocks from this store, and have visited roughly 5+ times weekly since I've lived here. I have generated a lot of income for this business, and generally have a good relationship with the employees. Today I went there and purchased an item that was $0.99 aka 99 cents. The total (and I paid in cash mind you) was $1.55. .... I am not petty and I'm not a cheap person, but this isn't correct. I asked the cashier (a short squat boy) where the additional 56 cents came from and he told me tax. I said brother there is no place in the USA that has a 50% tax rate, especially here. He told me to get out, and so I left. But I will be reporting this to the Better Business Bureau, if for any reason than to make you change for you future customers. Also --- The store is grossly cheap and they sell items illegally, such as prepared food with no expiration dates. You just lost a customer who genuinely gave you an average of $100 per week. Been over three years since I provided my last review of this store. Thought I would update. Bottom line, things are still the same. Totally appreciate this store being in our community and what it brings. Hours are tremendous. Staff is helpful and friendly always. There are times where it certainly gets busy with customers and can be check out lines longer than one would want. But that's a function of number of customers at the time and not the stores effort to process them quickly and efficiently. Plus, it's very easy to pick other times in the day where it's easy to get in and out of the store. Store is clean and the parking is just outstanding. Two big thumbs up here. read more

It's time to downgrade my previous lackluster review of Save Mart. While this is a store I frequent because on convenience, it's not the best example of what a grocery store could be. Chock it up to higher prices and an annoyingly inconsistent selection which frequently discontinues the items I could previously only find here. I came in on a recent trip to find the salsa I came here for gone, the Fairlife creamer I came here for gone and the tuna snacks I came here for gone. When I asked an employee what happened, they simply said "discontinued." Not a supply chain issue due to COVID. They just decided not to carry those items anymore (even though they do carry all other Fairlife products). They also seem to have trouble keeping certain items on their shelves. It's only one in three or four trips when I'm lucky enough to find those pot pies I like in the freezer section. I know, am I really complaining about this? But it's the little things that keep you coming back. Service is good, folks are hardworking. But if they don't have what I need, I end up going to Raley's. read more

I have been shopping at the SaveMart in East Sac at least 4 days a week for the past 23 years ever since I moved to the area. I have had nothing but good to say about the store in all of those years. That is until yesterday. I went through the self-checkout line and inadvertently left my wallet behind. I didn't notice until a few hours later after searching my car and my home over and over. When I finally came to the realization that I may have left it there which I bfound out by tracing my debit card spending I immediately drove there. I asked a clerk who went to the office portion of the store and a manager came out . He asked if I could identify my wallet which I did. He did that they had shipped it out. they did this without trying to contact me nor even wait a day to see if the owner, me would come to claim it. This screwed me over in a very big way. Right now I am on my way to Reno NV. for a 3 day work weekend. I do not have any credit cards too pay for gas nor my hotel. I have no I.D. to check into my hotel. I was able to drive to my bank and convince them that it was me to be able to withdraw some cash but I doubt that the hotels will honor my reservation without my credit card. There is a decent chance J will have to sleep in my car tonight. I am beside myself. SaveMart you are so much better than this. read more

Now I don't mind paying $0.10 a bag. However I don't when they put one item in that bag. I am sick and tired of getting charged $0.10 a bag when the baggers puts one item in it! Don't even bother! They did this twice to me with eggs! So I started saying I don't need a bag for eggs! Well again, they put one item in a bag when there was room in another for that one item! I know it's only $0.10 but it's still money, and a waste of it and the bag! It also adds up! Yes, I know bring your own then! Covid got me use to not bringing them so I keep forgetting! Bag them yourself then some might say! Well I'm sorry but if minimum wage went up to $15-$20 an hour than I shouldn't have to do their job! Also, there I times I do and someone comes over as if they don't want me to. The cashier was very distracted all over the place instead of ringing me up. The service was awful! Bought meat here and the next day it was turning brown. Don't know how long they keep their meats, but dont buy their $5 specials. Its old meat that's expiring. Their bread went bad on the 3rd day. Check the meats items, the food selection is bad. I"m reaching out to Safeway and Raleys to ask them to consider coming to Ripon. I was in Savemart last week with my mom (somewhat on the elderly side). She struggles with waking long distances and was having trouble walking through the store for so long. One of the workers Drew lifted my mother bridal style and carried her through the store so she could continue to shop. I am so thankful for him, we need more workers like him in this world.
