Adj: convenient and dependable This Safeway has a Starbucks like most new locations do now so this review is specifically about the Starbucks. Pretty decent size for the space, right at the entrance and usually courteous customer service. They have some good seasonal items on their coffee and other drinks menu as well as gifts such mugs, tumblers, and other coffee-related merchandise. They even had special roasts and memorative cups, which I didn't expect at a grocery store location. Overall, the service is ok and although there's not much in terms of ambiance at this branch, and the tables need more attention as there's a lot of customers coming and going all day long given how busy this Safeway is, it's still a relatively clean and cozy Starbucks with quick service. read more

Safeway man told me they don't sell alcohol after 10pm but the website says 12am. They had the whole two isles caged up tight @ 10:06. It was Monday. Wouldn't even let me buy the wine in the displays away from the caged isles. What are we doing here? Was it a lie? Should I take it personal? Just close the gotdamn store then if you scared. Transform to a church. Who is making these decisions? Ain't nothin safe about this way. I want the manager and ANSWERS!!!! read more

Did not feel like cooking so took advantage of Safeways great Friday deals. This Safeway located off Sutterville has a little more upscale feel compared to other safeways. Got the 8 piece of Fried Chicken (drums & thighs) for $9, some nashville hot tenders $5/lb, a side of macaroni salad, and some deviled egg potato salad. ( you need a safeway rewards account to geet the deals, easy and free to sign up for) Staff was friendly and helpful, packaging up my food to go for me. Fried Chicken is tender with a great crispy exterior and wonderful fried chicken flavor. The tenders I wasnt expecting much but the nashville hot was a nice level heat and flavor. The potato and macaroni salad are par for a grocery store item, a great accompaniment for the chicken for a quick meal read more

My family and I stopped into this Safeway location on Saturday for some essentials like flour since I am in my Sourdough girl era right now. It is located near Sac City College in the Crocker Shopping Center. Since it is in a shopping center, it is busy, but there is plenty of parking! The first thing I noticed when we walked in was the beautiful florist section - there were flower arrangements everywhere and it was a really pretty sight to be greeted with. They also have a huge well stocked produce section that had everything you could need and more. The flour I needed was on sale so that was a huge plus! They even had a representative from Boar's Head giving out free samples of cheese and honey glazed ham. Overall, we only walked out with a few items, but this store made me want to come back and do my usual shopping for sure! read more

The closest supermarket to Sac City college, not too far but a little ways away from my house, this is the best place for cheaper groceries for at home cooking. Its meat prices are beaten only by very few other stores, if you're just getting the meats on sale. The allergy inducing floral section stays well stocked with fresh flowers each month, with lots of seasonal bouquets to choose from to go with the latest holiday to celebrate. My wife loves to look at the flowers, and it's an easy place for husbands and boyfriends to buy flowers for their wives/SO's for special occasions and as apologies. Thankfully, my wife doesn't like cut flowers, their potted flowers and plants are pretty decent here too. Service is pretty good. I usually just use the self check out and there is always a staff on station there to help out and fix things if the computers go bonkers or otherwise act up. My wife does most of the shopping so I'm mostly the assistant shopper, cart pusher, stuff getter, bag holder and check out bagger. Sometimes one of my kids need to use the bathroom and it's a good thing it's clean here, I always go with him for safety, and stand outside if the other kid needs to go to the other bathroom too and Mom's busy shopping. They even have a Starbucks with tons of seating by the deli and bathrooms so it's all conveniently located near the entrance. All in all I like this store, it's just that sometimes they have people stealing and causing trouble for the staff, making a ruckus in the store and kind of creating some tension and ruining the store atmosphere when the alarms go off. It's a sad situation all around, but it has only happened a couple of times I've seen/heard. The staff is hard at work here and everyone's feeling the pinch with the economy, so I try to do my part and show some appreciation and patience when I shop here. read more

Wow?!? Why haven't I visited this Safeway sooner. Open late daily until until midnight, open early at 5am. This location feels very safe, even as a single female to go late at night, they do have a security gaurd at night. Their cold items are in individual fridges, well stocked, and overall a large spacious store. read more

Terrible service in the bakery department. Two employees standing and talking, no hello when we walked up. Would not take a basic cake order 30 hours in advance. Didn't even ask me what kind I was interested in, and didn't recommend any other options for me, for example, buying something out of the case. Went to Raleys instead. Greeted immediately and they were happy to help! I never go to this Safeway and I don't think I'd come back after today. read more

Safeway has such great deals. Make sure to check their weekly ads for each location. They're generally mostly the same, but sometimes there are some variances. Came to this Safeway for their $7.99/lb special member price on ribeye steaks. This was advertised on their weekly add. We received about 66% off on the steaks! Got three large ribeye steak for $37, and each steak fed two people! Great steak and great quality. I was able to make a nice surf and turf dinner with their steak deal and lobster deal, and still have so much leftover. read more

This is a huge Safeway in the Crocker Shopping Center/Curtis Park neighborhood. I shopped here more frequently as a law student as it was just a few miles from school and brand new. They have a Starbucks in store, pharmacy, bakery, and large produce section as well as the usual staple items. However, having stopped in recently it has lost a bit of polish. In the Safeway tradition you won't necessarily enjoy your shopping experience but you can get some good deals and good quality food. I speak as someone who lived in a small mountain town for two decades and Safeway was the only game in town...a little traumatized by that, so it's not a place I rushed to return to after my move to the big city... However, this Safeway has it all. Their house brands and organic choices are exceptionally good; Lucerne dairy products and cheeses are also. They have a ton of choices in baking, teas, coffee, candy, and everything else. No shortage of options. I genuinely don't enjoy shopping here in person, the checkout whether self or assisted is always a bit odd, the store is huge and takes some doing to get in and out of and it's a bit grimy, plus the location is adjacent to a kinda bad neighborhood. They even made the news when a dude pulled out a firearm in the produce department a couple years ago. Fortunately, the Safeway app lets you do the shopping and I do a pickup, having the groceries placed in my trunk: great way to take advantage of their frequent sales. Much better values across the board than Raley's. My only quibble is they seem to be missing several of the numbered pickup parking spots and naturally there's always that person who parks in a pickup spot without an order because it's close to the store entrance. I had to wait five minutes last time for a spot...just be aware. Good for certain things on sale. Not enjoyable in person shopping Good pickup and delivery options. Give it a try. read more

Stopped in to grab last minute items for Thanksgiving, whip cream for the pumpkin pie. Well-staffed. Inventory was good on the sale items still. Store is very spacious with a Starbucks counter too. Parking can be a little tricky during lunch and dinner hours. This store is very supportive of local community groups. read more

Worst customer service I think I have ever encountered. For paying premium prices the customer service is lacking.

I worked at Crocker safeway in the deli as a cook, the fried chicken is of the cheapest quality, and sometimes is spoiled. i often noticed the workers don't change gloves or wash hands. I worked in the meat dept, and produce dept as well. ( all in a span of 3 years) I saw constant negligence and dealt with a lot of complaints of spoiled meat and rotting fruit. Management was a joke. Jamie Pyatt/ Lavine the asst manager in the deli dept. Dated me (an employee) and then got me fired after cheating on me for 3 years. that place deserves to be shut down, but everytime inspection showed up they turned a blind eye, I hope all locals see this and know how terrible Crocker safeway is, and How terrible a person Jamie Pyatt in the deli dept was to me . - Former employee read more

The security working tonight made me feel the opposite of safe! I already was being cat called in the parking lot so when the security guard started trying to make conversation I was happy because I thought I might need an escort to my car, as it is dark out and I felt harassed by another individual but then it turned inappropriate and made me feel the opposite of safe! So disappointing as I'm just a young women trying to get groceries by myself. The security is the last person who should be making young women uncomfortable!!!! I hope he gets talked to because it's unacceptable. To make things worse he followed and lingered near me inside the store. I would assume security's job is not to be hanging out and talking to people inside the store but rather near the entrance/ exit. Genuinely so concerning and I love Safeway but I cannot come to this location again. I called this locations customer service to let them know what happened but I would appreciate it if a manager could reach out to me. read more

The deli workers dont no what there doing. They just walk around and ignore you while you stand there and on top of that they close early every day around 6:30pm. Management needs to get new workers. read more

This store NEEDS to have more support for their cashiers. Frustration with a shitty register will cause them to snap at customers who have no idea what is going on. I was caught blindsided when my cashier snapped at me to stop unloading my cart. Come to find out, the register was freezing up and not working. Again. And also, buy some more walkie-talkies so they can call the supervisor or manager over easily instead of them standing there looking like they are drowning. read more

I like this Safeway because it is clean and has good deals but service lacks. Today my cashier was Mac, no good morning, no thank you because I bagged and loaded my own groceries, not even a smile. I dont do self-check out because I feel like it takes someone's job but with a cashier like Mac, not much difference. read more

Pharmacy is horrendous. I was berated for asking how they got my insurance to cover duplicate scrips without it being redflagged so they tripped down and called me rude for questioning their policies. This was my first new pick-up with them and they shamed me for asking questions and not accepting their simple illogical answers for changing me for two identical prescriptions due to a recent dosage change. read more

This review is for the Starbucks inside Safeway... WORST STARBUCKS IVE EVER BEEN TO !!!! I've been here multiple tomes and every time it gets worst. Stopped by today to get one or two things. As I am opening the door of of my car, asked by a homeless person for money. Walk into the store and go to check out and another homeless person "rings" up in self checkout her doughnut but fails to pay for it. I asked the clerk if that happens a lot and her told me everyday and they just have to ignore it. This location just doesn't feel safe. Back over to Raley's I go. read more

Tennie at the floral department has been very rude to me several times i've come in for flower arrangements. Today I came in to get flowers for one of my colleagues goodbye presents and I asked tennie if she had different color ribbons because she had selected a pink one (she had already started the transaction with me in a rude manner and rolling her eyes) and she got upset and told me and another customer "please shoot me" then continued to tell me the colors and throw them on the counter. Some of the ribbons fell from how she threw them. I come here very often and shes always been the only one that has treated me this way. I had not said anything before because I was giving her grace but today's interaction really shocked me. read more

Honestly, the rudest checkers I've encountered in a long time. Every single time I go into the store, the checkers ignore me either completely disengaged or, more often, talking to each other. They are constantly making mistakes because they're not paying any attention and they don't treat customers like they are human beings. read more

I always go to this location. Employees are usually nice for the most part. Things are a little expensive here. I get it, but I can also go to target and get a pound of hamburger for half the price. I love This Safeway . I have recently been driving a little further out to their bakery for any function or just for My Fam when a dessert is needed. I would like to acknowledge Angie in the bakery, I came in to buy a birthday cake and she went above and beyond to assist me in such a positive way she was very kind patient extremely helpful I love her public relations and how she looks at you in your eyes making sure that you get outstanding customer service. I haven't done major shopping at the Safeway but I've stopped by for event supplies and for quick odds and ends in the past. The parking lot can be pretty busy with all the businesses here, but I've been able to find a spot each time I've visited (sometimes after circling a bit). One time I wasn't able to find the items I was looking for and a staff member was super helpful. On my latest visit I was just picking up three large bags of ice and the cashier asked if I need help to my car. I declined and took on the challenge myself, but it was really nice of them to offer. Each time I've been in it's been clean and well stocked and organized. It's definitely a great choice if you're in this area. read more

Store is clean and nice, but the staff aren't so welcoming and helpful. This isn't to every staff in the store, but there was a skinny elder white lady, with long red hair who refused to help me when I asked her for help. She told me to go elsewhere. Really rude, and poor customer service. I'll take the lady with long red hair's advice and go to Raley's next time. read more

I had a stressful and uncomfortable experience at the deli counter. When I asked for chicken, the employee helping me was very rude. He repeatedly yelled the same question about "what type of chicken" I wanted. I initially thought he was asking which parts of the chicken, but he meant how the chicken was prepared (fried or grilled). Instead of clarifying the question for me, he raised his voice and repeated the same words over and over. Because of this experience I don't think I'll be purchasing chicken from the deli counter again. read more

This review is for the Starbucks inside the Safeway. Customer service really sucked here. They were too busy talking to even greet me. 2 orders with Victoria on them and they just stood there as I tried to figure out which one was mine without touching them as some people are weird about their items being touched. The girl working didn't offer any help as to which one was mine. Continued to talk to her coworker. As I walked out they just continued to talk. And guess what wrong drink. read more

By far the worst shopping experience ever! If you live in Sacramento just save yourself the time and frustration and drive to the Safeway off of 19th street. My wife came to this store for the pick up and go shopping and alerted them in the app that she was there. She watched multiple people come and go that got there after her and called the number on display 3 times and got no answer. Finally a half hour later she needs to wake up our 1 year old baby sleeping in the back seat to go in and get to the bottom of it. The staff could not care less even after seeing she was holding a fussy baby and made her go get her own cart and refused to take them out to the car for her. Just to put the cherry on top the cart locked at the door so she couldn't even make it to her car. So not only is the staff stupid and inadequate but they're apparently illiterate as well it's honestly pathetic! Whoever was in charge of the pick up and go on May 18th at 6:30pm needs to be fired and made an example out of. read more
