Wine??
Adrian P.

Price range: reasonable. To consider: there is a free parking lot on the side! Wait time: -2 minutes to purchase Food & drinks details: lots of amazing alcohol to choose from. They have wines, beers, tequilas, vodkas, etc. they also have (overly priced) snacks, games, and accessories. Shoutout(s): to the wide selection of alcohol. You could really travel the world where through alcohol LOL. Location review: I love it. It's a treat to have a niche store like this in our area. Service: the service is great. Even the security guard offered to help me find my wines. Everyone is usually super helpful and willing to give you their honest opinion on their alcohol preferences. They make the place feel welcoming. Expectations: I expected to pay a lot for the drinks I wanted, but they had alternatives at a more competitive price. For example, if you want a $60 dollar Chardonnay, they have $8 Chardonnays or $150 Chardonnays. The point is they give you options. Improvements: maybe lower the price on snacks. Wish I could've grabbed a few but the price on that stuff was just out of reach. Last words: thank you for the amazing selection. Thank you for the free parking lot. Thank you for the amazing service! Another 5 star review 4 years later.

The manager that told the young lady she couldn't use the bathroom
Doowop B.

I was here doing a little shopping, getting a gift for a family member and I noticed a supervisor or manager telling a young lady of color at the register that she couldn't use the bathroom and he walked off to the back and then, as he walked off, the young lady was standing in a puddle of urine so she end up cleaning it up and he never let her go to the bathroom and she ended up leaving. I hope she don't lose her job behind this guy. Please be safe in his beverage and more. He has a anger problem surprised he still working here. Didn't want to get a picture of the young lady due to her personal reasons.

Awesome Hard Ciders But Also A "DESPERATE" Outlet for $2+ 2-Liter Bottles of Diet Pepsi SITREP Eh. You WIN some and you LOSE some. This place is for alcohol clearly. Great deals on Beers (LOTS of brews, micro-brews, etc.), Wines, Hard Ciders (my main reason for coming here) and assortments of other things. But when it comes to Soda, Chips, Cheeses, munchies-in-general, I really suggest you keep on going down 19th Street and hit the Safeway instead, because the prices will *hit* ya in the face here! Probably the most expensive cheese selection I've seen in Midtown - more than Safeway, Trader Joes, and Grocery Outlet combined. THE SETUP What is outstanding about this place is.......I CAN WALK HERE! Bevmo is a mere 5 blocks from my front door, so if I need something QUICK, it's just a short power walk away! Of course, if walking, I'm not going to be loaded down to bear with more than 2 six-packs of anything, a couple of big bottles of anything else. *SIGH* What is a bit disconcerting for me, however, is that every time I walk into this store, my thoughts race down a decade of memories of when this location - this BUILDING - was once "THE BEAT" record shop. Many fond moments of buying CDs & Vinyl, perusing posters, having a cup of coffee in the little listening/café area, etc. I miss that... But I can't complain about having a FULL SCALE LIQUOR store in my hood either. If it had to be something else, it might as well be something extremely beneficial to me like this Bevmo has become, if you know what I mean. SPEAKING OF CIDERS I love the fact that ciders are (re-)entering the alcohol market in a big way. There's a greater variety of brandings. And there's a greater variety of flavors. AND there's a greater variety of types that cater to patrons desires to minimize the more deleterious affects of the contents, and I'm not just talking about proof levels - I'm talking mainly about reducing sugars and other additives. I APPROVE OF THIS MESSAGE! My recent favorite hard ciders are from the ACE brand. * I love the ACE Berry Hard Cider (with 14 grams of sugar per bottle) http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bevmo-sacramento-4#IpGOR6RA18cp7CdqRs1LsA * The ACE Apple Hard Cider and ACE Pear Hard Cider are also yummy (each with only 13 grams of sugar per bottle). * However, I heard they were recently carrying the JOKER Hard Cider - an almost Champagne-like dry cider that boasts ONLY 3 grams of sugar per bottle. I had some last night for the first time and I loved it. I will definitely be alternating this with the Berry cider when chillaxing in the evening! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bevmo-sacramento-4#KnyzO_7L7ywqHyiieNK2VQ ASSORTED There's some pretty cool crystal, $5 growlers, lots of refrigeration sections for beer and wine in case you need to literally "grab & go" to a party, so there is a lot of great stuff working here. THE LOWDOWN Bevmo is a most welcome addition to my neighborhood and I've enjoyed making some moderate use of their inventory!

Yummmmm!!!

Let's start with the positives: the service, the vibes, and the space are wonderful! I can't comment on the food. The beer though. I got a West Coast Pilsner, we literally came here because that is my favorite style of beer. The beer looked like a maple milkshake. It was murky with a grey-brown tint. Badly oxidized, and tasted horrible. I sent it back and got a lager...it looked good visually, it was bright anc clear. Then I tasted it and it was bursting with the buttery flavors of diacetyl. This beer had a slick, buttered popcorn jelly belly finish, rather than a crisp, mild hoppy bite. Maybe their ales are better than there lagers, but I didn't want to send back yet another beer. Maybe I should've though.

All beers appeared to be craft, I didn't see any mainstream beers like Bud or Coors. They also offered a few craft soda options and plenty of water stations. They outdoor seating in the front or a nice large back patio as well as a few spots inside. We opted for the back patio to enjoy the random cat that was lurking around. It does appear the back patio is dog friendly as well. We ordered the prosciutto and fig pizza, an OG pepperoni and the garlic breadsticks. It did take longer than I expected for our food, but we did come right at opening so maybe morning prep took some time. We really liked the prosciutto a fig, the balsamic glaze and the sweetness of the agave paired well. I do wish the garlic bread was more garlicky. It was more of a cheesy bread in my opinion, which was still delicious. We will definitely be back. And what's even better is Gunters is right down the street so you can enjoy a sweet treat after a nice meal and ice cold beer.

When we walked in I knew I was in the perfect spot-this bar has those low lights that all the bars in the 70s and 80s had-giving off a both romantic and mysterious vibe to it-I was in love with the place from that moment on. The music that day was awesome-I heard they have live music at times but at the time of my visit they did not-they were instead playing 90s and 2000s R&B and Hip Hop-it was wonderful-one banger after another-so yeah I was vibing. Our waitress couldn't have been cooler-she was as friendly as can be-suggesting drinks that were both on and off the menu-her and I were sharing tequila stories based on our shared affinity for the Fortaleza tequila they had in stock -which is super rare and it's how I judge every bar-whether or not they have Fortaleza tequila on hand and The Butterscotch Den had multiple bottles on hand. We ended up going with a few drinks that day. -Strawberry Negroni-($13.00)-This one blew my socks off-my favorite drink in the works is a Negroni but this bar makes a Strawberry version of it and let me tell ya-it's dynamite-10/10 rating -Old Fashioned-($12.00)-This is my go-to order at most bars because it's pretty reliable and most bars can make a decent one and I'd say they make a very solid one here-8.2/10 rating -Cucumber Gimlet with Tequila-($11.00)-This drink was made with lime-sweet vermouth and tequila-it was very refreshing and went down way too easy-rating 8.4/10 -Mezcal mystery drink-($12.00)-This was a drink the bartender made that after we declared our love for the smokiness of mezcal-I wouldn't be able to ask for it again unless I got the same waitress but if your a mezcal lover like I am-this drink was top of the line-smokiness intensity off the charts-9.1/10 rating So a little about the place that I picked up during my visit-I guess they serve food-I didn't know that but after my 2nd drink I looked back and saw this entire dining area with table side grills-so I guess the customers cook their own meats and such-pretty cool concept-my visit was strictly a drinking visit so I didn't partake but it looked pretty cool. I guess they are opened most days from 4p-12am and until 2am on Friday and Saturday nights. They do not have a dedicated parking lot for this bar but they are located near 34th and Broadway-so unlimited street parking is available for those who drive here. In closing-I really really enjoyed my visit to The Butterscotch Den and I was pretty sure I had found my new favorite bar in Sacramento with a bar in the Ice Blocks but I am pretty sure that has changed and The Butterscotch Den is my new favorite bar in the greater Sacramento area-if you find yourself looking for a new spot to enjoy some adult beverages or maybe looking for a date night spot-don't hesitate to make your way over to The Butterscotch Den-the place is a true hidden gem. PS-They have a Disco Ball in their lounge area and a vintage non-working cigarette machine-the coolest I tell ya.

I came to visit my friends and we went to a brewery to catch up. My friend just bought a house and was moving, as well as having her birthday, so her ID was expired which we were not aware of. It happens. My friend was going to log into DMV just so she can show a valid ID the bartender but another woman working came up exclaiming they can not accept that and she will not get a drink. My friend did not argue about it and my other friend and I got our beers and sat down. We just wanted to spend time and catch up. My friend with the expired ID did not even take a sip of any drinks and respected the policy, the woman that we talked to earlier about the ids then proceeded to come up to us and say that we were sharing drinks, yelling and being very hostile. We were all confused because in no way, my friend even touched or drank any of the drinks. She insisted to call the cops. We then asked her if she had any evidence such as video footage and she said she did not have any access to that and she did not have footage. She said we were breaking the law and she will get the police involved for underage drinking. She was being extremely hostile. THANK YOU BY THE WAY SHE IS IN HER 30s BUT BESIDE THE POINT THEY REFUSED TO PULL UP THE FOOTAGE AND CORNERED US WHEN WE WERE DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. We even encouraged to call the police then she started back tracking. Their lead came in. We again, asked for the footage and he then, unrelated, said they are on the verge of closing rather than taking any form of accountability or apologizing for how his colleague was treating us. We asked for a refund and would leave, we were so uncomfortable. He then proceeded to say we did not pay for the drinks and I had to pull up my credit card statement to even prove it, which is absolutely ridiculous. I got our drinks and paid/ closed the tab before even sitting down. We asked to talk to a manager again. Mind you, we asked previously, and got the lead. The manager just asked if we were from the Bay and shook our hands instead of actually doing anything about the situation. I saw her hug the woman that was accusing after we were leaving which is absolutely ridiculous. Why would you encourage that type of behavior to your staff. Profiling in 2025 is insane. I feel bad for my friends. I feel extremely uncomfortable. Discriminating and accusing just because we are the only POCs in the room is so embarrassing. DO BETTER- NOT EVEN AS AN ESTABLISHMENT BUT JUST AS HUMAN BEINGS.
