Just because I'm an evil, grumpy, murdering Emperor doesn't mean I don't know how to get down with the Imperial young folk. I came here to stock up for the yearly Death Star Rager. Since Darth Vader is incompetent and incapable of performing the simplest of tasks that I command of him I knew I had to take this one into my old wrinkly lightning invested hands. As soon as I stepped in I saw the vast collection of beverages to consume and it reminded me of the good ol days, back when I was a young nimble 90 year old evil Emperor and could drink a whole Kamino ocean sized bag of wine. The selection was so grand, they even had the colorful pink concoction that I secretly drink on the dl. I was tempted to just purchase the whole store and order my platoon to carry it all out. However because of our budgetary setbacks due to my trillion dollar planet destroying Death Star toy and Darth Vader's wasteful spending I had to resistant. Chain liquor store with low prices and consistent selection in a convenient location. Clean, well lit, and has parking on site. One of the little amusements in coming here is the selection of overhead music they play is the worst I've ever heard in retail; I love it. read more

ONLINE ORDER: The beers they packed had been canned 9-12 months ago. These were IPA's, which should be drank fresh (at least within 6 months or so). I guess I'm a bonehead for blindly trusting them to give me fresh product but still disappointed that they don't rotate their inventory. About half of the 16 beers I bought were undrinkable and the rest were past their prime. Check the dates, folks! read more

I made the mistake of trying to return a bottle of wine here yesterday. I bought the bottle a couple of weeks ago and it took some time to get back to the store, so we came in filled our cart with 9 new bottles of wine and went to the checkout. The gal on the checkout looked confused and called (who I assume was) the manager. He then proceeded to give us a load of guff about: 1. 7 day limit for returns 2. Only returns for 'off' wine. 3. Can only replace it with the same wine. He claimed there had been a 'bit of trouble' with the ABC over returns of wine and shop policy.... 7days .... has to be the same bottle... oh ok, I'll do it this time ... give them a credit. Which is all we wanted. All this pompous guff over a $7 bottle of wine - cheaper than anything else currently sitting on the conveyor belt - and the guy was showing off to his staff or whoever else was watching. He then took time out to tell us that our 'loyalty' card was a decade out of date .... Customer experience -100% If you consider that between 3% and 8% of wine generally is in the condition known as 'corked' and a mega store chain like BevMo should be used to returns like this, then their 7 day policy and their high-handed and imperious customer service is untolerable. I have returned bad wine to all of the other stores I buy wine from - including SNFC, Trader Joes, Corti Bros, Total Wines, Safeway etc. and none of them turned so much as a hair. As for me, I'll never set foot in BevMo again. I prefer Total Wines anyway. read more

This new Bevmo is not that bad of a store viewed on its own, but when I compare it to other Bevmos/alcohol superstores: Cons: I'm always going to miss The Beat and wish it was still occupying that building (not Bevmo's fault, just saying...) Not as large as other Bevmo locations, and thus not as much selection Did I miss the mini booze bottle section, or do they not have one? (Boo hiss boo if they don't) Not as cheap as Total Wine. A quick bottle purchase is fine but if I'm restocking my bar, it saves me more money to drive out to Arden area Pros: It is the only alcohol superstore in the downtown/midtown area It is still cheaper than buying booze at a grocery store or corner market In the end, being the hooch monkey that I am, I have to appreciate a store like this now being in the area I live in. I used to be a big fan of Beverages and More which is now just known as BevMo. Before they came in, we were stuck with limited selection of booze from the supermarket or obscure liquor stores with bottles caked in dust. BevMo made liquor fun again with big stores and large selections. Their newest location in Midtown Sacramento took over the former Beat Records building and is probably printing money by serving the local drinking community. Unfortunately, the overall location is a little behind the other suburban stores. Their selection of alcohol seems more limited than the other locations. Also, their parking and access is somewhat difficult with tiny spaces. The staff and overall store layout are great, and they always have great pricing. If you are looking for more specialty items, you may be disappointed. Nevertheless, it is a welcome addition to the midtown scene. read more

Conveniently located in midtown Sacramento, you can not go wrong with a Bevmo! Granted I wished they built a *beep**beep* instead as they are marginally cheaper but hey! This BevMo is exactly what we needed in this area of town, but besides that it is an all-around excellent BevMo! Size & Setting: Large! I was pleasantly surprised (been to skimpy BevMo's before and this ain't one of 'em). The store is easy to navigate, well-arranged, and clean. Selection: Runs the gamut from beer to wine and liquor, with specialty flavors/more expensive brands you can't find at your regular supermarket. Ample wine and beer coolers for those of you wanting something pre-chilled. I feel like the spirit-inclined could browse this place for hours. Service: As good as it gets--upon walking in, I was promptly greeted by a smiling employee, and when I was ready she rang me up quickly. Add-ons: I liked seeing that they have an "Extras" section with everything you might need to pair with your drinks: gourmet cheese, snacks, olives, cherries, greeting cards, wine bags...hell, they even have glassware in case you're so absent-minded you forgot to get something to drink your booze out of. I also noticed a "cigar" section on my way out...nice touch for those who are so inclined. Price: I found everything to be reasonably priced, if not a great bargain. They seem to have 5 cent/Buy One Get One wine sales a lot, and upon quickly browsing the liquor aisles I saw 1.75L of Svedka for $16.99...definitely better than Safeway prices. (Note that these prices require you have a BevMo card, which is free and easy to sign up for at the register. Otherwise things are about $3-5 more). Location: Sometimes when I'm walking home from work and want to grab a quick six-pack on my way home, I'm totally stumped. So many of the convenience stores around don't even carry alcohol (I'm lookin' at YOU, 7/11 on J Street). Once you find a place, you're lucky if you have any type of selection...and the price is about double what you should be paying. BevMo is a breath of fresh air in this neighborhood, as it is Midtown's only true liquor store. The one drawback to location might be the parking. If you're driving, bring a quarter for some good ol' fashioned street parking. Although, I did see plenty of parking available on the side street when I went. Final Say: Your new go-to spot for all things alcohol-related in Midtown. read more

Visited the store when in town for my sisters wedding reception. Very cute, clean and friendly staff. We were in there for less than 10 minutes but it was a good experience. I saw a sign for 5¢ wine....what the!!! They definitely don't have anything like this on the east coast, I'm jealous. There is street parking right out front and around the corner. read more

Have been here a couple of times now. Love having a location closer to my house, but this is definitely a smaller location and does not have as big of a selection as I am used to. However, it does check the boxes in so far as finding decent deals on good craft beer and other items. Staff has been friendly each time I have come in and a couple of them have known what I was looking for and been helpful in finding something comparable if they did not have what I wanted in stock. I know if I am after a larger selection, I will just venture over to one of the other local Bevmo's. If I just want to pick up some of my favorite craft beers or even tequila. I will just pop in here! As a side note, I found out recently from a friend, you can order your items online from the Bevmo website and then pick them up at your local store in as little as an hour if they are in stock. read more

Good selection, sort of. I always think that a store this large should have an amazing selection of esoteric brands from many countries, but no. Seems to vary a lot from store to store. Staff is helpful in a limited way, but you hear "I haven't tasted that one yet" more often than you'd like to. Prices are usually pretty good. They have some interesting snacks and bar gear. I would usually rather patronize a smaller, local store, but if I'm somewhere where I don't know the neighborhood and I see a Bevmo, I can usually find something acceptible. read more

I really like this location. It's closer to my house but is a bit smaller than other locations i've been to. Popped in for a couple of different ciders and they had a great selection. I like the parking lot that is attached. It made it pretty convenient to just run in and out. The staff was very helpful and offered me a BevMo card to help save money. They had a 5 cent wine sale going on. Buy one bottle and get the second at 5 cents. Can't beat that. Way to go Bev Mo. read more

Let me just say that customer service goes a loooong way. We were going to visit Sacramento from the Bay Area to watch a basketball game. One thing I always do is research where I can find my favorite beer for sale. It's the Golden Monkey by Pennsylvania-based Victory Brewing. It's rarely in stock at my local BevMo so I figured I'd try calling the Sacramento BevMo to see if they carried it. I called and the guy who picked up the phone was very friendly. He saw that there was only one six pack left in the system and he asked if he could put me on hold just to verify that it was actually there. Once he found it, he offered to put it on hold for me while we made the drive out from the Bay Area. Two hours later, we arrived and my Golden Monkey was there waiting for me. Bonus points: This BevMo carries another favorite brewery: Caldera from Ashland, Ore. I wish we lived closer. We would definitely be regulars. For now, we'll just have to be content to visit whenever we're in town. read more

Terrible experience trying to exchange some ruined bad wine for a new one. Walked in and the two girls at the front said no problem, happens all the time. Manager comes up wants a receipt, said I didnt have one but bought it last week, wine was full, I asked if he could look it up by club card or credit card got a very adament no from him. So I gave up. Bought 2 new boxes. He sharpied the label and said to the girls return it to vendor for credit - SOOO I was not able to receive credit but BevMo is - horrible customer service - even the two girls at register were mortified by manager attitude and I quickly just shut him down by giving in.... read more

We had to find an unusual wine for a family member - found it - and proceeded to get some ingredients for the most amazing lemon drop I've ever had - Meyer lemon syrup , granulated sugar for the glass , triple sec , grey goose vodka. Bevmo has everything you need! Make sure you sign up for their club card that gives you all the discounts you see in store. This particular store was very clean and the associates were very friendly and helpful, as you need their assistance in opening some of the cases to get your liquor of choice. well i have came here unexpected. i was going to an event in Davis for picnic day to sit down and enjoy the wonderful day outdoor with some wine with some friends so of course i had to stop by here and get a bottle of rose to share with the group. when i walked in, i was very overwhelmed with al the different choices and brands and prices as well. they have beer and liquor as well. the aisles were spacious and organized and clean as well. it was for sure you won't bump into anything with 2 or 3 people in the aisles. i also seen that each selection of the wine have 2 prices such as a member price and a non member price. some of them don't have 2 price signs for it. anyways i grabbed one bottle and for that bottle it only had one price on it. when i went up to pay it was rang up a different price which was doubled. so be careful and stay alert. the cashier was very friendly and helped me solve the problem by asking if i have a members card. i then ask how to get one and i signed up for one instantly, and got the price to lower down half off than what it was charged for non members. i also have chose 2 bottles to ask which one is better and whats the difference and the cashier was knowledgeable and told me its almost the same. overall i had a great experience and the wait wasn't long for the lines. it wasn't too busy at the time i went and had got what i need in a quick stop. the parking here can be a bit of problem when parking is limited in midtown. i imagine people will have to find street parking nearby. or finding meter parking which shouldn't be a problem since there are lots nearby. overall i am a fan of this spot and location. i like how its very convenient to grab something reasonable that liquor stores don't have and don't have to travel far or get out of the downtown grid to grab some wine. even this location might not be as big as other locations but it serves its purpose for a quick stop. if your looking to restock your shelf as home then i won't recommend this spot because more likely you might not find it here. hope you enjoy my review and be sure to vote for this review and if you like my reviews don't forget to click follow my reviews. hehe.. have a great day and happy yelping! thanks for your time. read more

Lots of meter parking in front of the store. I was looking for blue raspberry vodka. Since it was my first time here, I wasn't sure where to go. I got lucky and found the vodka section right away. I was glad that they had what I was looking for. Too bad they did not have a bigger bottle of it. I look around for another 10 minutes just to see what else they have in that area since I still have some time left on my meter. They got all the basic things you need. To get the sale price you have to be a bevmo member. The cashier was kind enough to let me know and have me sign up for one. Next stop drunk city. read more

I find if kind of ridiculous that they sell 22oz single bottles of craft beers however you can't buy a 'single' bottle it has to be 2. Also! You can't mix or match with other alcohols it has to be 2 beers not a beer & other type of alcohol. You should really have it POSTED somewhere in the place about your single beer bottle policy. Was excited they were opening in midtown however I still find myself going to TOTAL WINE for a better selection on EVERYTHING. I haven't bought a single item at this location due to the lack of selection & this annoying rule I just found out. read more

OK I just woke from a long sleep and decided to go over to Nubert's Hardware store and 'lo and behold' guess what Nubert's was not there but in it's place a BEVMO - wowzer !!!! I asked the people inside what happened to Nubert's and they had never heard of it . Well now that I am here , just as well take a look around . BEVMO has a very large selection alcoholic beverages , now I am not an super price savvy shopper but the prices do not seem cheaper [looking at hard liquor and beer] than even a name brand grocery store but the variety is better . And with a 'club card' you get 5% off after $250 bucks [lame] that will expire in 90 days . But I am happy to have a BEVMO Downtown . read more
