I've never shopped at this store until this afternoon. Saw some good prices on what I went in for and the store itself was well-organized and clean. I take issue, however, with the express lane cashier (operator #714685). Young gal, surly, nose ring--never said a WORD to me, scowled at me when I looked at her & made me bag my own groceries. Seriously? I attempted to speak to the manager on my way out but he was occupied. I don't care if you have a clean store or good prices, if your cashiers are rude and lazy, you've lost a repeat customer. read more

Raleys in Benicia is the best grocery store in the area. I feel safer here in Benicia even though I live in neighboring Vallejo and there is a Glen Cove Safeway super close There are always hustlers at the Safeway who frighten me. The E Cart is my favorite thing about the Raley's here in Benicia. I am disabled and I can order my food online and just pick it up like a drive through. They load it in your car and you don't even have to get out. If I don't feel well then they can deliver to my house for only $5 more. If there is an issue with something they are always quick to credit or correct it. I really love their team and especially nice managers. read more

I'm a Raley's fan. They have everything you need and their prices are lower than Safeway's now. It's strange how in Benicia you're either a diehard Raley's fan or a diehard Safeway fan and there is no middle ground....no one is neutral about it. About ten some odd years ago Raley's prices used to be well above Safeway's and some people are under the impression that is still the case. In reality, Raley's prices are now significantly lower overall and the selection is much more diverse. They treat their employees great and it shows...I've never had such consistently excellent customer service at any grocery store I've ever been to. read more

I love the remodel here and can find most everything I need except mega-packs of toilet paper which I get at Costco. So what is the deal with the senile fossils who load up their carts and then go through the Express Lane WTF? Idiots cannot count! They mutter something about getting home to the grandchildren. Fuck! If the you are too young, they had better have supervision. If the are like, 25 years old, that's totally messed up. I need an East German riot baton to swing around! For the most part, I really like this location. However I recently used the self checkout and I wanted to remove an item from my order because it was the wrong item, however you have to get a clerk to clear it for you. So I press the button, multiple times as it kept timing out. I turn and I see the clerk is helping a person with their order and because I'm not in a rush, I patiently waited. I then here the clerk call out to me and ask if I needed help and I saw she was still helping the customer so I said I needed something removed from my order but I'll wait until she's finished. Here's where the wheels fell off the bus. Her response to what I'd just stated was, "press the "pay" button on the screen." I then stated again, "I'm not ready to pay, I need something taken off the order." Again, her response was to "push the pay button on the screen" and by now the customer she was helping, took it upon herself to walk over to me and attempt to show me how to pay for my order. I then told her because she's pushed my hand away from the screen, and full disclosure, I do not like to be touched without permission let alone by a stranger. I then told her and the clerk (I'm upset at this point) because neither were listening to me; "I am not ready to pay I have to remove something from my order! I've pushed the help button multiple times and it timed out." The clerk claimed that no notice showed up on her screen letting her know I needed help. So I pushed it again and then she answered the notice and get this, after all that, she yells at me, "You're going to have to wait!" After all that wasted breath, she actually told me to wait as if I was rushing her or interrupted her from helping the customer she was with. At this point, just about everyone on the front end, were looking at me as if I'm the problem. After that, I emptied out my bag of what I'd rung up already and walk out. I was so upset, to not be listened to but spoke AT, when this could've been avoided by the clerk just finishing up with the customer then coming to help me. I took a moment in my car and then sat in the parking lot and called the store manager and notified them of my experience. If you want to give good customer service, the first step is to actually LISTEN to what the customer is saying before you respond. This is the very first negative experience I've had since I started shopping in this location and it was so negative, that that day was the last time I shopped there. I understand that times are difficult with the virus. I greatly appreciate that I am able to grocery shop. I understand the lines, and the lack of many items. But I don't want to contract Covid 19 here, so I'm not going back until it improves. Yesterday my cashier was wearing her mask under her nose. No one was sanitizing the carts (which they had been doing the last time I was there) and there was no sanitizer or wipes for customers. I wanted to write a review sooner for a very sweet young lady that works at Raleys bakery but I didn't get her name up until a couple days ago . Josie went above and beyond out of her way to give my 1 year old an amazing cake . I went to the bakery the day before his birthday hoping to be able to get a cake and I was helped out . When I asked if they had an updated book I was told it was the most updated and I didn't see my sons favorite cartoon "Bluey" , Josie had over heard me and my fiancé speaking about it. We still decided to order a cake and asked for it to just say "happy birthday Dante " with blue writing and blue trim . When I seen my cake the next day I couldn't help but cry with joy ! It was so perfectly beautiful and to my surprise "Bluey" was on the cake ! Thank you so very much Josie for going out of your way , you truly are an amazing worker and my family appreciates you for your service ! read more

Raley's - Birthday cake for my one year old - Grocery Near Me - Benicia, California

We have lived and shopped in Benicia for 18 years. Raleys has always been a nice place to shop. They have always had a good selection of items, a well laid out floor plan and a clean we'll run store. They always seemed a bit more expensive than Safeway. Then they remodeled. Many of the items we were use to buying simply disappeared. The overall selection of products as well as the space allotted to each category was drastically reduced. New strange brands take up some of the precious space at ridiculous prices. The chances of the product you want being out of stock has increased by about 30%. It's hard to keep things in stock when the space you need to do that is cut by 50%. The only category that has grown is the alcohol. This area seems to have picked up all the square footage taken from other products. Maybe that was the real plan with the remodel after all. I understand the profit from alcohol is very high. Makes their new slogan, something about making real food healthy, seem a bit ironic. Get the feeling they think they are a Whole Foods. I don't want a Whole Foods, just a place to buy what I need at reasonable prices. Take me down the street to Safeway. Better selection, a produce department with more than a dozen fugi apples to choose from for example, lower prices and better sale discounts. And the ability to get lower gas prices! This store is my favorite. I can get specialty items along with cheaper everyday items like a box of Rice a Roni. I live a town over and shop here for the beautiful produce, fresh baked bread, and of course the friendly service. Each time I shop my favorite cashiers Colleen, Elizabeth, Mike, and Alex touch base with things happening in my life since we last talked, this making me feel kind of important lol. The Bakery's sweets are absolutely Devine and the Deli salads and meats are always fresh, Crystal is so patient with me while I take hecka time making my weekly selections. The store has a good selection for a small town and actually nice lighting which goes a long way with me. However, I don't believe the people who work there are very happy. For one example out of a few that have lead me to this conclusion :when asking for some help today with the self check out , I was helped with seemingly intentional lack of eye contact but with the extra effort of a snarky tone comment. Born and raised Raley's/Bel Air Lover... ...its nice to see a familiar place in an unfamiliar town (think back 2 years ago). Their company values and consistency remains true at the Benicia store. Their Deli department is off the hook. I try to go, no more than once a week, and indulge in my favorite pannini - The Chicken Caprese. Get on it, I swear you will be a changed person :) Their self-checkout staff, all but one, in my current two years of patronship, have been amazing. I consistently am here asking for dry ice - for work - and they are ALWAYS accommodating in every way. I had one exception with an employee, but like they say..."there's always an exception to the rule". Overly nice and always accommodating, the Raley's family would be proud! read more

This is my preferred grocery store. I like that it is clean and has mostly wide aisles, nice employees, and they unload your cart as they ring the items up. It has been terribly crowded lately and I try to avoid it if the parking lot is more than half full. If they would set up a dedicated "entrance" and "exit" from the store, limit the number of customers allowed in at a time (as recommended by the CDC), and designate one way aisles it would be so much easier to social distance and stay safe. They do require masks, have plexiglass to protect checkers, and have signs on the floor to guide people waiting in line to distance. Typically their liquor prices are outrageous...beer I can get at Trader Joes cost twice as much, for example. Their produce prices are higher than average, but the quality is OK, their pharmacy is OK, Meat is average, some good and some bad. If it is a good deal in their weekly ad, they are out of it and won't restock until the sale is over. What frosts my petunias, though, is when they have a sale on whole chickens, they stick a wet diaper (weighs about a pound) in each bag so you are paying for wet paper instead of chicken. read more

I appreciate this Raleys for the quality of produce and groceries and staff. I am vegan and have called in a few times asking about products, and staff always calls me back or runs to the floor to let me know of something is on stock. With that being said, this location cam sometimes be a bit slow with restocking or carrying speciality products and I hole to see more variety for some of the speciality products that Raleys in other cities are carrying (con of living in Solano County I guess). But I have seen more vegan products over the years and think it is on the right track. read more

I've been going to this store for so long as its very convenient and reasonable. They have most of the things you need. But people here specially management could sometimes be so arogant and outright profile you as if I was going to steal something. I understand the precaution specially being close to the school but I'm a grown man that shops here regularly with my dog and even that was recently change. Faileys! for many years you were my go to to keep my family of 6 full and happy... Then you spent millions on the store upgrade and forgot what you were to the world... You are not a social club, you are a grocery store that is tasked to make sure the patrons of your grocery store can find items they need (not constantly having to go on an Easter egg hunt to find what you moved to some random and completely non intuitive place) to eat and drink and find them at a reasonable price that is COMPETITIVE with other consumer based grocery businesses in the greater area. You NEVER have everything I want on my list, you are brash and condescending (management) and your prices are likened to a strip club in Beverly Hills or Hong Kong... But you're just Benicia... You have ZERO ability to keep your store shelves stocked with a fair choice of product, your "fresh" meat section is full of frozen overpriced meat... your bread is often frozen, and yes overpriced. You never have plain basic waffles, your produce is horrible; no... actually it's deplorable how much your produce is SO bad it won't even last a few days. Yes; Faileys I totally understand you THINK you're the only game in town so why should you care about my Yelp rant? I agree, and since I'm going in to the New Year I will also be taking my monthly household food budget of $1,300.00 over to Concord and Pleasant Hill to Whole Foods; or ANY other grocery store, where I have indeed factually proven that your prices are OUTRAGEOUS!! We live in Glen Cove and the local Safeway here up the road has the worst service ever and the longest lines I've ever seen at a store. We make the extra trip to Raleys due to the amazing customer service, friendly staff and the speed of which we can get in and out for items. One thing I've noticed is that the Benicia Raleys store is still out of cleaning supplies like Windex, Hand Soap and other baking goods. I *cringe* having to go to Safeway to grab these items since they are in stock there. Is there any way that our awesome Benicia Raleys can get a stock of these items? The shelves seem to still be pretty bare of these items when Target, Walmart and even the "Awful" Safeway has them. Thanks! read more

Lack of leadership is reflected in this store. No greeting from the checker, no effort to present and count my cash back to me- money handed in a bunch along with my receipt, and no thank you. Not my favorite grocery store but the only local place that sells a certain oatmeal that I like. The cashiers /baggers are too busy talking to each other to be bothered with me a paying customer. Bagger broke my handle on my bag that to have to purchase (thanks new law) and didn't offer to give me a new one or even acknowledge that it happened. I do know from there conversation that she has no been an employee there long as the cashier informed her she is still with 90 period. The banter back and forth about this is how I know.. I'll go back to ordering online directly from the company for the oatmeal instead of listening to the conversation, being ignored and irritated with a broken handle on a .10 cent bag. read more

Please be careful if you choose to shop at Raley's in Benicia during the COVID19 pandemic. Yesterday I stopped in for the 1st time because I had other errands in the same shopping center. I found that there was no one checking if customers were wearing masks when entering and so customers weren't all wearing masks while shopping. There were also far too many people in the store to allow for so social distancing while shopping. What probably bothered me the most was the complete lack of care by employees to practice social distancing themselves. One example while I was waiting to check out was a young male employee came up and asked the checker I was waiting for a question then instead of walking a little ways around he walked straight at me, squeezed between me and my cart and the dividers that narrow toward register (with gum and magazines) to get where he was going in the store. He was within inches of me, let alone 6 feet, and didn't apologize to even say excuse me. The management of this store needs to reconsider their training and policies regarding covid19. read more

We prefer Raley's over Safeway because we have a feelings, brains and class. Haha! This is a really good Raley's compared to others. (Don't go to the one in American Canyon, for example). Clean, well maintained store with a good, friendly crew as is usual with a Raley's. We like their salad bar with grilled veggies and kale salad, deli and meat dept are pretty good, produce is better than average, all the usual stuff with good selection of fancy/specialty products that we like. (Wish they had a better cosmetics section tho.) read more

My wife and I live on the extreme North Western tip of Vallejo. We couldn't be further away. Our local store closed and we checked every grocery store from Napa through Fairfield because we found the nearby choices inadequate. We ended up regulars at Raley's Benicia. Yes, it's a bit of a drive. Yes, it's worth it. Many years ago my wife lived in Benicia close to this store but the Vallejo Raley's was actually superior. Things change. When we checked this store out we were pleasantly surprised at the overall experience and quality of the SERVICE as well as the food. The cashiers, deli, and bakery people have been fantastic. The Produce Department is generally superior [places like Berkeley Bowl are better] but the staff there is lacking in customer service. In spite of this I still give this store 5 stars. I just wish it were closer. read more

The man I dated lived in this area so this Raley's was THE market we would hit anytime something was missing from his rental: bathroom paper, dessert, chips, etc. This Raleys is currently undergoing a remodel, but the produce here is always clean and fresh. Shelves are usually stocked and the staff at checkout have been here for years. In addition to having Peet's that closes too early (hint) and a broad deli area, it also boasts an online ordering/pick-up station outside so one does not have to enter the store at all when on the rush. Huge parking lot that is well lit. I'm more of a Safeway gal, but you know the saying about teaching an old dog new tricks? It is true. The older the dates get, the less they change. We bought a place in Vallejo in January of 2005 because we saw the incredible untapped potential of the city. Let me tell ya... Moving out of my apartment in Hayes Valley to go to Vallejo was not a decision I took lightly. Yes, I wanted to buy a place of my own. No, I didn't want to live in a closet. No I did not want a "creative" mortgage: Negative amortization 1 year ARM? Are you smoking crack?!?! Vallejo is the last closest city near San Francisco. I commute by ferry and I absolutely love it... And I still get my modern Dwell living space, together with a backyard and a private garage. Try finding that in Oakland or Emeryville for under $500K. Where am I going with this?!?! Well, until the revitalization of Vallejo is complete, a process which, I now see, will go well past 2010, we're still itching for high end grocery stores. I'd give my left nut for a Whole Foods Market. You probably could get a more dispensable body part for a Trader Joe's. Andronico's, Nugget... Come one, come all... enter Vallejo and I will try my damnedest to spend a sick amount of money to keep you in business there! Until then, I'll have to settle for Raley's here in Benicia. Their sister store on Sonoma Blvd in Vallejo is just so-so, but this place hints at luxury.... Their cheese selection is far superior even to the newly remodeled Safeway store in Glen Cove. They've got all kinds of goodies here, and the service is absolutely fabulous! Let this be a call to all the other high end grocery stores to open locations in the 707. I am extremely disappointed in this store. I used to be a great grocery store; however, since they remodeled they don't carry very many of the products I previously purchased. I agree with a previous reviewer - it is like and Easter Egg hunt every time I go shopping. They need to stop rearranging the shelves and refrigerators. Also, the prices are high and the produce is not very good. I use the eCart feature a lot because I do not get around too well anymore. The vegetables and fruit I have ordered are soft, spoiled, or of other low quality. I ordered some Sushi and the fish was completely dried out and the rice was inedible. I also ordered fresh flowers that did not even last a day (at $15.00 for barely 1/2 dozen flowers). For the price I expect high quality products. I will probably to back to Safeway delivery - at least there I pay less, but I know what to expect. read more

Sorry David but you will never get a "high end grocery" store in Vallejo! Hope things are well!!! Getting to my review... its rare for me to write such a review for a grocery store but this morning I had great customer service! I needed a last minute cooler w/ wheels to take to my sons soccer game (9am) and Ace was closed. Raleys was the only thing open at 8am. I walked in and asked if they sold coolers and one guy said "only foam right now" and to check seasonal. Seasonal isle (16) had nothing but Halloween stuff, go figure. Another employee came running over as I was about to leave and said she had found some plastic coolers. Cool!!! I picked up a silver and white igloo brand 44 qt. cooler w/ collapsable lever ($40). Picked up some ice and was on my way! Thanks! read more
