You just have to be careful when you want it hot but not Thai hot. I order 3 but sometimes it comes out a 5 and when you tell them it's not what you ordered they send out the owner! She then holds up your meal by "explaining " that they got new peppers and they are hotter than usual kind of spiel. They need to be more consistent with the heat matching the level you choose when you order. Also, the owner will come try to make small talk but she always talks about topics that make everyone at the table uncomfortable, people's height/weight and/or deceased relatives, so best to order carry out. I was a life long Californian & moved to a very tiny town in Mississippi and have not had Thai food in 2.5 years; I was passing through Mandeville yesterday and decided to try and find a Thai restaurant. I am thrilled Ploy's Kitchen Thai Cafe popped up on my search. The woman at the counter - also the cook - was so sweet. I don't eat meat and she said everything could be made meat free and with tofu if I wanted. She even asked if egg was ok before she made anything. They make everything fresh and to order. I knew I wanted Pad Thai since it's a favorite but I wanted something that was a speciality of this restaurant. She recommended the Khao Soi. The Khao Soi is DELICIOUS. I think I found my new favorite Thai dish. Both the Pad Thai (also very delicious, I will get this again too) and Khao Soi were generous portions. Everything was very reasonably priced. I also got the spring rolls. They were so good. The sauce was unique from what I'm used to having in California and I actually liked it so much better. I think it would make a great salad dressing. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about Ploy's Kitchen. It is positively worth going and I told my husband I WILL go out of my way and drive the hour and a half from home to get Thai food from here at least a few times a year.
