This is our second year deciding to stop at Cracker Barrel after our float trip on our way home…read moreback to Kansas City, and once again, the food did not disappoint! I ordered the Grandma's Sampler, and everything was delicious. I'm not a fan of ham, so I gave that portion to my fiancé, but the pancakes were especially good. I also asked for plain hash browns since the regular ones usually come with cheese and other toppings, and they were exactly what I wanted. We arrived before the morning rush and were seated right away. Our server was great initially, but unfortunately, the service fell short once our food arrived. She refilled our waters and brought ketchup when I asked for it, but she also brought our bill at the same time. We had only had our food for maybe three minutes at that point, and she never came back to check on us. Having worked as a server and in the restaurant industry myself, this is a pretty big no no. A server isn't finished with a table just because the food has been delivered. I could have ordered more orange juice, we needed more syrup (which I ended up needing), and we both needed more water. A simple check-in after the food arrived would have made a huge difference and not just being done with us. It honestly would have been a 5 star experience if it weren't for that. The food was great, we were seated quickly, and I really like that you can pay right at the table using the QR code. We'll definitely be back next year after our float trip on our way home to Kansas City, but hopefully the service will be a little more attentive next time!

She had to ask manager if it would not mess up the drawer ?!!! If one can't do simple math without a computer maybe one should not be handling money... Boggles my mind as a parent and as an educator. Some of us do make sure students can read, add, subtract, multiply and divide for that matter. When I was hired for a cashier at a very highly busy venue, I had to take a math test and if I couldn't do basic math, I would not have been hired. I think we need to go back to that. If you're going to handle cash, you need to be able to add and subtract basic amounts. What is this world coming to when young people can't do math ??? Sorry not sorry. The other day the same thing happened at a different business... so this is not the only place that has workers who can't add or subtract mentally without being dumbfounded... Parents need to be aware that their children are not learning the basics in school. I'm saying parents because the majority of workers are teens or early 20's Maybe it's time to homeschool or find a better school or some tutoring. My 2 cents...
