I again visited the St. Helena / Napa Valley Farmer's Market on a Friday morning. The FIRST thing that I headed to was Dominique's booth! She has the Nation's BEST macarons and treats. First, you should know that I'm a French Macaron SNOB. I'm proud of it. I've eaten macarons from Lette', Bouchon, Le Pattessire, and several other specialty stores. I've even taken macarons classes from Sur La Table and have been making macarons for 2+ years. Hands down, Dominique's macarons are the BOMBSHADIGGIDYOMGDELICIOUS! Each of her flavors of macarons have a super crunchy shell with chewy insides. Each of the flavors are AMAZING! Her macarons are $1.75 each. She could easily charge $3 per macaron, because they are large (almost 2.5-3" in diameter). Lemon Curd: Tart and delicious! Sea salted Caramel: OMG - delicious and fun to eat! Apricot: Topped with lavendar and fresh fruit flavors! Chocolate: Classic and simple. Rose: One of my favorites!!! Made with quality rose oil! Lavendar: Floral and fresh! Love it! Check out her pastries, lamb meat pies, and other stuff. I was also impressed with her home-made pies - 1) Berry combination (blackberry; boysenberry; blackberry?), 2) Berry Pie (Rasberries; black berries; and blueberries?), 3) Cherry pie. I like how the pistachio bits add flavor to it, kinda wish they added more pistachio. I'm not sure I personally like the strawberries since they're kinda mushy, but my partner really liked the addition of strawberries because it's like adding cream to a biscuit and this scone was more like a biscuit than a scone (in our opinion). It's buttery, airy, and light, but it's pretty good! I think the Thimbles were better though. I can only describe it as a fudgy brownie with a thin crusty outer layer. What a decadent little treat! There was a group of four near the far end and they offered to move us but then we would have been sitting right next to them. They also have another small private room but that was going to be used for a wedding cake meeting. Gergana is the owner and she greeted us warmly. She said she took over the patisserie in 2019. The other employees were very sweet and helpful. They provided us with a tea menu so we could select a tea from their varied tea menu. They returned with little pots of tea for each of us. There were many people dropping by to pick up a pastry and drink and others stopped by to pick up their cake order. The employees were efficient and quick to help everyone. They refilled our tea pots with hot water and checked on us throughout our time there. The desserts on the top level were our favorites. It came with a candle which was very sweet. The sandwiches on the middle level were chicken, egg salad and cream cheese with cucumber. Our favorite was the chicken salad. Overall, it was a fun experience to savor all of their small samplings and Gergana is there to ensure everything runs smoothly so that your time there is relaxing and extra special.
