I've been coming here since high school which is (ahem...) a really long time ago. I always order the same things: an Irish Cream flavored creamy Italian soda and a backpacker cookie. Today, Vela was behind the counter when I came in. I started giving her my drink order and she finished it for me. Now, mind you, I grew up in Sebastopol, but I don't live in town anymore. I only end up passing through periodically, but apparently this combination is a little unique. I love it though. It tastes like melted ice cream or a perfect cream soda. Highly recommend. (This is also one of the only places I've ever run across creamy Italian sodas, but it's simply an Italian soda + some half and half. They always measure out the syrup and cream, so it's not too sweet. They typically stir it too before handing it to you and generally stay available for a moment to ensure you don't want them to adjust the balance of syrup, ice and sparkling water.) The backpacker cookie has oats, raisins, coconut, chocolate chips and walnuts. Now, I can be funny about both walnuts and raisins in my cookies, but they always get the balance just right! Also, when I came in a few months ago, they were out of backpackers and my son ordered a cinnamon flat. I ended up trying it and fell in love with it too! So, now I order both and share some with my son when I get home. I've met Bronwen, the owner, as well. One time when I dropped in, she noticed that I was ordering Irish Cream and said she'd wondered whether she should keep stocking that flavor. When she heard how much I loved it, she agreed to keep it stocked. I'll admit; that influences me when I'm driving through. Not that I wouldn't ordinarily choose to stop, but now I have an additional gratitude toward them. So glad that the new owners (Bronwen and her husband have apparently been the owners since 2020) have kept this institution here!

However, the cookies are good, and the charming shop and staff make up for the high-ish prices. The flavors here are really unique. They have many classics, as well as some specialties like lavender, cinnamon, and ginger. I really enjoyed the lavender one. It was satisfying but also refreshing, all stuffed into a cookie. There isn't really anywhere to sit here, but I think it's more of a to-go place anyway. A beverage and cookie make a great snack to walk down the streets of downtown Sebastopol. This is also a great place for a gift. My grandma ended up grabbing some cookies as a gift for her neighbor, and they wrapped them up so nicely for her.

Super cute, mismatched floral china, knickknacks everywhere, gorgeous flowers in the garden. We are on the terrace, which was lovely. The only drawback is that it's right on Main Street with a lot of traffic going by. The food was so good. We started with salad of the adults and crudite with homemade ranch with just a twang of spice to start. Then they brought out 3 tiered tea cake stands for each of us - a kids size, a regular, and a gluten free one. Everything was so delicious. A plate of 5 savory treats, each one more sumptuous than the next. A plate with a perfect scone with a tiny raspberry jam container, lemon curd, and clotted cream (my fav). Last tier had dessert, a chocolate cake with raspberry on top, a shortbread with white chocolate, and fruit. The shortbread cookie was the item I liked the least. They bring you a tea case so you can smell every option. We had grandma's garden, mint, and maple . All tasty. I wish we could have tried even more but they did refill each adorable teapot with more hot water. The price is quite high but it was a lovely way to celebrate. Will definitely come back again. And I have never seen employees on their phones, which is also pretty remarkable. So exciting to see all of their gorgeous creations in our little town of Sebastopol. We had reservations for 1:00 and they sat us at one of their small tables by the door. It worked but it wasn't the most comfortable seat in the house as people were walking in and out of the door and the pastry case was right next to us. There was a group of four near the far end and they offered to move us but then we would have been sitting right next to them. They also have another small private room but that was going to be used for a wedding cake meeting. Gergana is the owner and she greeted us warmly. She said she took over the patisserie in 2019. The other employees were very sweet and helpful. They provided us with a tea menu so we could select a tea from their varied tea menu. They returned with little pots of tea for each of us. There were many people dropping by to pick up a pastry and drink and others stopped by to pick up their cake order. The employees were efficient and quick to help everyone. They refilled our tea pots with hot water and checked on us throughout our time there. The desserts on the top level were our favorites. It came with a candle which was very sweet. The sandwiches on the middle level were chicken, egg salad and cream cheese with cucumber. Our favorite was the chicken salad. Overall, it was a fun experience to savor all of their small samplings and Gergana is there to ensure everything runs smoothly so that your time there is relaxing and extra special. Not diluted with tahini, garlic, just pure flavors of eggplant with tanginess of sumac. LITTLE GEM SALAD WITH RAINBOW TROUT was hearty, leafy and very refreshing. The pickled celery was the surprise. HAMACHI CRUDO - beautifully assembled with thoughtfulness, light, refreshing. A bunch of flavor bombs in there so each bite is an adventure. Basil making it refreshing, earthy crunch from hazelnut, sharpness from green onion, sweet tart kiwis. I think a bit of citrus would make this a superstar. Mandolin shaved limes perhaps? GRILLED MAITAKE MUSHROOMS - ok I think this was the chefs most technically impressive dish, with an exercise in playing with bitter profiles and turning it into a master piece. Grilled maitake gets the char from the grill is the first flavor layer, it's woken up by the wild thyme from the zatar. Next the Japanese turnips bring the second dimension with earthy beautiful bitter notes on a bed of a creamy tahini based sauce. It's finished with fresh parsley to bring a fresh element to it. Great stuff. Could raddichio be added to make this more challenging? I saw those crunchy POTATOES and I got them even after eating the meal lol. Do yourself a favor and just get them - they're hot, crunchy and perfect to pair with the vegetables. Finally we got their chocolate mousse with bruleéd bananas sorry couldn't take a picture before it was all gone. Great way to wrap. The staff were all super friendly and helped with picking things from the menu! I got the mystery glass of wine and they had made a fun game out of it. The Beaujolais was great too. Overall when you're surrounded by these amazing farms, vineyards and ocean - no better way than to bring them together - kudos to the creators of the Redwood for making this place with intentionality.
