    Chocolate eclair
    Wayne T.

This was on my list of places to visit while I was visiting Sebastopol. It's a medium size with a couple of display counters. There's a few tables inside. But a huge patio outside. The inside has Hugh roll up doors with screens to keep the bugs out. By the time we arrived we could see that some items had sold out. Still there was a big selection of both sweet and savory items left. We picked up about a dozen different items. I ate the chocolate eclair, I didn't think that it would last long because of the heat. We also tried the kouign amann, and a raspberry Danish. All tasted fresh. In my eclair, the chocolate filling was thick and sweet chocolate tasting. This place definitely made the long drive worth the visit.

This is a cute bakery with a good selection of pastries to choose from. A huge plus if you have little ones is the kids' play area located right outside, making it a family-friendly spot to hang out. I ordered one of their breakfast items; the flavor was good, but it was on the greasy side. I also felt the pricing was a bit high for what you get.

Stopped by this location in The Barlow after an early morning flight into STS. Found parking right nearby. They were playing music loudly on the exterior, which was a little odd. But once inside, the array of baked goods and the French inspired decor quickly provided a lovely distraction. There were only two staff members working, which left them spread a little thin. However, they kept composure and professionalism. Our pastries and coffees came out quick enough anyway. Everything tasted good, and there was much more in the pastry case that looked good as well. Looks like they have two other locations in the North Bay, and the founder is originally from France. Big congrats to their success.

The pastries here are absolutely worth the money. I forget the name but I got the pastry with chocolate chip and it was excellent! It basically melts in your mouth, since it's so soft! I normally don't like chocolate in my pastries but this one was delicious definitely not overpowering like some other pastries. The spot is cute and has a few tables inside as well as outside. The workers 0are so nice as well! I will say I was not a huge fan of the coffee but otherwise would come here to eat more pastries!

this place is great for family and friends. lots of seating and it's nice and spacious in the mornings. got lots of pastry and drink options. the service was good, got our food immediately and our drinks 5-10 minutes after ordering. the drinks were okay, not a great flavor for the iced mochas and the coffee taste was just okay. the pastries were much better. never had a canele before but it was pretty hard and couldn't taste much flavor. i enjoyed the almond chocolate croissant. so yummy and would love even more chocolate. the le normand baguette sandwich was so good and the fig jam was the best part. would definitely come back for the pastries

Sarmentine is located in the Barlow. It's a small spot with a few tables inside and a few outside. The bakery is cute and clean and offers not only sweets, but sandwiches and salads. There are lots of decadent looking items in the cases. I opted to try the vanilla eclair which was delicious. My only complaint-the prices are a bit high in my opinion. My small eclair cost over $8. Happy yo have experienced it though.

I've visited the other locations in Petaluma & Santa Rosa yielding pleasant experiences. Unfortunately, that was not the case at the Sebastopol location today. The number one reason for this review is due to the staff. I looked at several other reviews and noticed negative comments about the employees- having the same impression I did. The staff never looked us in the eye, had an attitude devoid of a personality and did not seem very happy to be working there. I smiled yet one was not returned. All three of us had croissants- my friends had many crisp layers (although a bit dry). My croissant was not very crispy which I found disappointing. The matcha latte I had was good. I was blown away by some of the prices- a whole quiche offered at $62! The quiche looked tasty, yet I cannot understand the cost. There were several tables inside which was appreciated as it was quite chilly outside. There were some very delectable looking treats in the glass case that if I returned, I will try one of them.

Went here for lunch and got a bag of day old pastries to bring home, gotta try a bit of everything! The service was great, and everything was baked perfectly! The coffee was delicious, and so was the quiche and sandwich!

We stopped by here for pastries after our brunch at Fern Bar! When we came in it was pretty late so we only had a few options left (mostly tarts). I chose the pistachio tart which was not only beautifully made but also tasted good! It's not too sweet and the pistachio cream is not too overpowering. The service was good! Staff is very friendly, the ambiance is ok but it gets too hot inside and for me, it will be better if there are some cozy seats or tables to accommodate people who wants to sit down from their walk at Barlow! Otherwise, great pastries! Will come back to check more options!

liked the chouquette i got at the santa rosa location so much that i got the vanilla one at the sebastopol location. space here is a lot smaller though you get a giant window to watch them bake. liked the vanilla chouquette the most, shell is crisp and cream inside is not too sweet but still rich and tinged with vanilla

Cute bakery in the Barlow. It has a nice indoor and outdoor seating option and the servers are nice to questions on menu. We tried the almond chocolate croissant and veggies croissant. Veggies croissant was good and warmed up, with broccoli and bechamel sauce. Almond chocolate was heaven- flaky pastry with almond cream and chocolate cream and toasted almonds on top. Yumm! Recommend to come here for a quick bite or sit down at Barlow

Cute little French Bakery at the Barlow. Loved that they carry some gluten-free items. Had some yummy macarons and a wonderful baguette. I'll definitely come back.

I missed this board and had to get back in line for a chai.
    Theresa R.

I love to bake, and this place was a baker's inspiration! The sourdough loaves were crunchy, the Crocquet Monsieur creamy on the inside and buttery crunch on the outside, delectable! Their Chai was subtly sweet and spicy, so comforting good. And the Chocolate croissant , to die for. Wait staff were friendly and efficient, even when I was touring their bakery cases and taking my sweet time to decide. They couldn't have been nicer, considering. This place is amazing and their goods over the top. The hardest part of coming in, is making a decision what to buy.

The patisserie is cozy with a few tables inside and a few small tables on the patio. As you enter, you immediately see the glass case with beautiful pastries and cakes. So exciting to see all of their gorgeous creations in our little town of Sebastopol. We had reservations for 1:00 and they sat us at one of their small tables by the door. It worked but it wasn't the most comfortable seat in the house as people were walking in and out of the door and the pastry case was right next to us. There was a group of four near the far end and they offered to move us but then we would have been sitting right next to them. They also have another small private room but that was going to be used for a wedding cake meeting. Gergana is the owner and she greeted us warmly. She said she took over the patisserie in 2019. The other employees were very sweet and helpful. They provided us with a tea menu so we could select a tea from their varied tea menu. They returned with little pots of tea for each of us. There were many people dropping by to pick up a pastry and drink and others stopped by to pick up their cake order. The employees were efficient and quick to help everyone. They refilled our tea pots with hot water and checked on us throughout our time there. The desserts on the top level were our favorites. It came with a candle which was very sweet. The sandwiches on the middle level were chicken, egg salad and cream cheese with cucumber. Our favorite was the chicken salad. Overall, it was a fun experience to savor all of their small samplings and Gergana is there to ensure everything runs smoothly so that your time there is relaxing and extra special. She even gave us a hug as we were leaving. I look forward to visiting this local patisserie again for a cup of a tea and a beautiful pastry.

Pros: I've visited several times for the bakery. The scones are my favorite as they are quite large and delicious, and I also tend to buy the Russian tea cakes as well. The macarons are a little harder and chewier than I expected, but they are still amazing. I actually found Patissierie Angelica specifically because I was looking for high tea services and thus have had their West County High Tea service twice. The second time I had the high tea service, I was given a private room! I particularly enjoyed the lemon curd, jam, and clotted cream with the scones. Patisserie Angelica is also located in a quiet and spacious part of Sebastopol; there is a parking lot that usually has space. Cons: The private room became a little stuffy as there was no air flow (other than an open window) nor air conditioning. However, things might have changed from the last time I was there. Overall: The bakery is truly amazing. I absolutely enjoy the desserts sold there and would love to have more of the high tea service in the future. It's perfect for private parties!

It's a very small shop with a big counter space for ordering and displaying their pastries and bread. It looks like their work area may be behind the counter so to prevent inside crowding, a limited amount of people go in at a time. On Sundays, they have scones! So I ordered a Strawberry Pistachio scone to try and we picked up two Small Chocolate Thimbles to try. For take-home bread, we bought the Forestville French Baguette, Sesame Epi Baguette, and a Country Bird. We also picked up a tea cake to enjoy at home. I can only review the scone and Thimbles since at the time of this review, this is what I've tried. The Strawberry Pistachio scone was not too sweet, which is great. I like how the pistachio bits add flavor to it, kinda wish they added more pistachio. I'm not sure I personally like the strawberries since they're kinda mushy, but my partner really liked the addition of strawberries because it's like adding cream to a biscuit and this scone was more like a biscuit than a scone (in our opinion). It's buttery, airy, and light, but it's pretty good! I think the Thimbles were better though. I can only describe it as a fudgy brownie with a thin crusty outer layer. What a decadent little treat! I can see why this is a local favorite! Their pastries are delicious. I can't wait to see how the bread tastes like and I'm glad we stopped by to pick up some goodies!
