Honestly walking in, it was a bit of a shock for me, but overwhelming in a curious way..... I wasn't too sure what this store was selling, but I wanted to find out! The was an outgoing older gentleman that could perfectly say each chocolate with the proper accents in which the chocolates derived from. There was a a FREE chocolate sampling and great history regarding the origins of the chocolate, as well as pairings! I wish we had more time to try everything, but sadly our car was on a parking meter and it was on the other side of town. Classic Steinhouse W: Went to Steinhouse for some Christmas shopping with a friend and they gave us like 6 different chocolate samples, a pistachio paste sample, and a barbecue sauce sample of all things. Incredible customer service. They're really attentive while you're shopping, too, telling me the history of items, and continued giving me samples as I was checking things out. Practically rolled out of there when I was through, I had so much chocolate in just samples alone haha. I bought some high quality chocolate that I know the people I bought it for will love. Walked in on a whim after glancing at the name while walking by. The owner was quick to help with showing me around the shop giving out plenty of free samples and explaining what each item was and had some recommendations based on personal preferences. They have steinhouse brand items and a number of imports. Chocolates, sauces, vinegar, mustard and some stuff I probably missed. Prices vary a bit in range but nothing outrageous. Saw on the website Eric's nickname is "Muscles from Brussels" which is just the cherry on top. Everything inside is for sale! Lots of vintage license plates, steins, Harley Davidson items, Coca Cola memorabilia, and other super cool items. As for chocolate, the selection is sure to please. Organic chocolate, vegan chocolate, biscoff cookie chocolate, Côte d'Or chocolate in various flavors, tequila brittle, Chardonnay brittle, truffles labeled with what wine they pair best with, fudge sauce, and more that I've already forgotten. I have loved Cote d'Ore chocolate since a trip to Belgium and was happy to find it here. And not just one type but over a dozen different bars. The owner used to have a chocolate shop in Mendocino and opened here in around 2022. It's now my go-to-place for chocolate even though it's a 20 min drive for me. I should have taken photos as that would give you a better POV on the variety and "fun ness" about the place. Eric, the muscles from Brussels, the owner, was so lively and passionate for his chocolates, his business but most of all his roots. He shared so much of his chocolate, popcorn, licorice it was tough to walk out without a little bit of heaven. OMG! What a great little shop. I walked in with my mom on a walk and we were inundated, in the best possible way, with the most interesting things I've tasted in a long time. Besides the chocolates, they also carry vinegars, honey, maple syrups and so many things I had to leave before I bought one of everything. I did end up with a chocolate balsamic vinegar, which will be amazing on vanilla ice cream - or a spoon. I also tried their honey and maple syrups and got the hot and spicy version. This will be good on pancakes, apple pie - and also just on a spoon. I will definitely be back. I can't stop thinking about some of the other things I tried. Highly recommend. read more
