I came here with my boyfriend a couple of weeks ago, per a recommendation from his coworker. This place is amazing! It's definitely got a very secluded rainforest-y environment (hence, the name), complete with waterfalls and air plants all around! There's a wide variety of air plants - and some potted ones, too! I settled on an Ionantha Fuego in a glass globe, which Chris filled with pebbles to make it look much prettier. We also got a three more plants and a sculpture of a toucan, totaling about $60. It all seemed inexpensive individually, but it adds up, so be mindful of your budget! They have super cute magnets/mini sculptures with sculptures of turtles, dolphins, elephants, etc. with air plants glued to them. I think it's a great place for a cute idea for a housewarming gift or a birthday gift, or a Tuesday gift. They're very helpful, so don't hesitate to ask for help. It's super easy to find. There's free parking in a lot in front; they accept credit cards. Be sure to check out the gorgeous koi in the ponds at the base of their waterfalls!! read more

This place is awesome. Two main reasons. It feels like you just stepped into the jungle and it has some of the neatest plants especially air plants. If you are looking for air plants and tropical varieties than this is the place for you. If you just want to get out of reality for 30 minutes this is the place to go too. My aunt wanted to stop by here to see what they had. In my opinion, I don't really find interests in plants and such right now at this age... Maybe when I'm old and decorating my house.. But yeah, nothing here really caught my eye, EXCEPT their koi pond in the center of this place. It's gorgeous! They have a little arch cave in the middle which is absolutely stunning with tropical trees and little fountains. Possibly a waterfall, I don't remember, but the koi fish made it all the more beautiful. Their bright colors really complimented the pond. And I thought it was so cute how they had live turtles out by the pond just sitting there. The pond was so clean and clear! It was sooo pretty! read more

Want to escape the busy city? If you have 10-20 minutes stop at Rainforest Flora and stroll through the tropics. This place is terrific if you love air plants, orchids, bromeliads, succulents and giant, lush green plants...but even if you don't I think you'll still get a kick out of how beautiful this plant shop is. I switched my garden to native low water plants a couple years ago so I've got tons of succulents that are thriving and continue to produce "volunteers" year after year...I thought why haven't I brought low water plants inside my house? It took me a while to think of it (even though my mom has been a fan of Tillandsia (air plants) for as long as I can remember) but when I did finally remember I realized I had the perfect air plant shop close by, yaaaay! The great thing about Tillandsia is they are very low maintenance...dunk 'em in water every 2 weeks or so, and that's it! You don't even need soil...a cute vase or pot, a piece of driftwood or any vessel really, just set your air plant et voila! This shop is nifty and it's fun to check out the 100's of types of Tillandsia ranging from a couple bucks and upwards to $50-100...depending on blooms, color and type. The service is great too...the staff knows everything and can guide you on the process. Easy to be obsessed with this place...I need more plant pots! read more

Such great customer service! I was gonna buy a few air plants and in conversation, the guy today gave me some tips on how to pick a plant, when it blooms, will it live etc etc. above and beyond! Even told me about the really big air plant in the back that was superrrrr old but still growing! Wow. Literally walked out with more air plants than I needed but now I know how to properly take care of a few. Really cool place, even had a koi pond with turtles!!!! A really lovely wholesale nursery open to the public. When I arrived, I was greeted by the owner Paul who showed me some amazing Staghorn ferns that were growing in the back of the greenhouse. I picked up one of the smaller mounted Staghorns being sold along with a dwarf carnivorous plant. The greenhouse was really beautiful and artfully designed. It was a treat to walk through. He was a wealth of information and was so incredibly kind! The store itself is a bit of a destination. We had a great time walking around and looking at everything. There is so much to see! I Didn't make a purchase because it didn't have what I was looking for but the atmosphere was beautiful, calming and peaceful. The decor, the coy fish and the water features make you feel like you're in the rain forest, No one followed me around but no one asked me if they could help me either which was a little concerning. Out side of saying hi when I went in the nursery, no one said a word. The cus- tomer experience was only memorable and heightened by the atmosphere not the customer service because I didn't get any which is sad. this place is amazing, and i can't believe it hasn't been reviewed it yet! i happened upon this gem while on the way home from work. i had just purchased some hanging terrariums and was looking for some air plants to furnish them with. i don't typically go to nurseries, or buy plants, or try to grow things, but i heard air plants were pretty tenacious--and the garden gnomes know i could use a green-thumb confidence-boost. this place is located right across the street from the kmart in the torrance promenade at the intersection of hawthore and 190th. rainforest flora is a hidden oasis among the power lines. walk inside and you'll find yourself amid a stunning exhibit of waterfalls, koi fish, and of course, a large quantity of plants. i quickly found what i was looking for: air plants (or "tillandsia" for you botanist types ). rainforest flora specializes in growing these plants; they host a wide variety of types in all different sizes and colors. i don't know anything about this plant stuff, so i can't give an informed opinion on quality or price...but i do know that i spent a good 45 minutes strolling the grounds and taking in its beauty. read more

Had a really great first experience today. I came specifically for small air plants to give as gifts and they had a wide variety of healthy plants to choose from as well as a selection of glass vases for them. Whenever out-of-town guests come to visit, I take them here for a restful stroll through some of the most beautiful, exotic plants on the planet. The winding pathway leads you through towering rock walls where tillandsias, ferns, and bromeliads grow in crevices and on tiny ledges. This is how they thrive in their warm, humid native habitats. Just stand in one place and treat yourself to a view of unusual foliage, while fat colorful koi swim lazily in a sparking pond in the center of the tropical grotto. Listen to the pleasant sound of the waterfall cascading from one of the rock walls. If a particular plant is so amazing that you have to own it, ask the knowledgeable staff for help and they will find one for sale in the nursery at a very reasonable price. If I'm stuck for an idea for a present, I buy a gift certificate here. They also sell unusual small ceramic figurines, pots, driftwood (to mount tillandsias), and other garden accessories. read more

I was SO excited to visit this place after seeing a YouTuber I follow raving about it in a video when she toured the place. Maybe I misunderstood, but I had assumed this was an exotic and rare plant nursery. I drove about an hour in traffic from Los Angeles to visit - luckily it was just a stop on my way somewhere else nearby, or else I would have been really bummed to have driven as far as I did. Hey, it's a really neat place with the waterfalls, turtles, fish, and amazing (but not for sale) plants to see, but if you're looking to SHOP for plants, its not really worth the trip, if I'm honest. For as large as the place is, their selection of plants for sale is TINY - and very basic. Ferns, pothos, succulants, small fiddle leafs, small pileas...plants you can get really anywhere these days. I will say, if you're looking for air plants, this is your place and you must visit if you live nearby. They had thousands and so many varieties. Unfortunately, air plants aren't my thing...so I left empty-handed with the Price is Right loser horn echoing in my ears. The weird thing is, they did seem to have a section that looked like it had a lot of interesting, exotic plants that I'd be interested in buying, but it was mysteriously blocked off with tape and chairs and tables and signs saying 'employees only'. And no one offered to let us in to look. In fact, my husband and I were the only souls in the place and not one person who worked there ever welcomed us or asked if we had questions or needed anything. It made me sad. Just disappointing. This is a review for online tilly purchases. The first purchase I made was decent - 3.5 stars. I bought about 8 plants. Most were healthy but a couple did have some brown tips and burnt leaves. Packing was not great (just every plant dumped into a pile and wrapped with tissue paper). But all in all everything survived and after soaking, looked ok to pretty good. The second purchase was disappointing (2 stars). I bought about 8 plants. One plant has 7 burned, chopped leaves out of a total of 11 leaves. One had multiple burned, discolored leaves and clearly looked like it was not cared for. The packing was pathetic. The box was smashed during shipping and I think it damaged one of the plants. I emailed the seller with photos of the damaged plants to see what can be done. They never replied. I have also bought air plants from other online sources with much better results - much more carefully packed and much healthier, bigger plants. I'm sure Rainforest is a great shop and someday I would love to visit. But I will do my online buying elsewhere. read more

This place is very gorgeous. I came here to get tillandsia plants and they have a very wide variety. There's a gorgeous waterfall and a little pond which has turtles and koi fish! The animals are taken care of really well. I also spot non poisonous dart frogs in there as well. There are also benches to sit in and enjoy the scenic space around you. The staff was very welcoming and made me feel at home. They are very informative about the botany of the plants. If you are making a purchase don't forget to bring the tags from each item and assist the cashier with your purchase. The prices are very fair too. Cheapest airplants are as low as 3.00 dollars. These plants will make very great gifts for loved ones. Will come back as this is sort of a little oasis getaway from the city. read more

I could not have been more disappointed to find the store closed and no one answering the phone upon arriving within their normal business hours. Absolutely adore this place! This nursery is the Tillandsia Air Plant-Bromeliad-Succulent mecca. They have a beautiful variety of Staghorn Ferns that are both healthy and gorgeous. The best part: when you walk into their beautiful greenhouse, it feels like you have been transported to an exotic rainforest. The Koi fish and bale of turtles are adorable and relaxing to look at. I could have spent a lot more time in there just enjoying my surroundings. Jerry helped my boyfriend and I pick out a few Staghorn Ferns we like to collect and he was extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. Rainforest Flora is officially going to be one of our go-to places for plants. We can't wait to go back to pick up some more. I highly recommend Rainforest Flora. read more

Rainforest Flora Planned a trip to LAS 2/13-2/16, from HI the MR figured why not make a trip to LAX on 2/15 since it was a 4 hour drive away. Haven't been on a trip together in over 18+ years (19yr anniversary) so this was going to be FUN! The MR is a collector of airplants & was looking forward to visiting this place he spends x amount of $ making numerous amount of purchases online. We made the 4 hr drive, got there right as they were opening, FOR NOTHING!!! The boy at the counter was RUDE & WAS NOT HELPFUL AT ALL!!! IN FACT HE MADE US FEEL LIKE WE WERE BOTHERING HIM, BECAUSE HE WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE SHOP!!! WE WERE THE ONLY PPL IN THERE!!! My MR wanted to purchase some HYBRIDS but couldn't because as the boy explained "I'M THE ONLY ONE HERE!". He could of at least offered a time he would be available to show the hybrids, but instead just gave us attitude when we kindly asked for his name. I EXPLAINED WE CAME HERE ALL THE WAY FROM HI JUST TO VISIT THIS PLACE!!! HE SAID YOU SHOULD COME DURING THE WEEKDAY!!! SERIOUSLY!!! WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT THIS WAS FOR THE BOTH OF US!!! Always order online from rainforest flora and they are great, very accommodating, and when i had trouble paying with a gift card, they helped a lot by searching their systems inside and out to find my order. They even got an IT guy to help me out! Before i even found out if the payment went through, the air plants were delivered to my door step. They even sent me some extra air plants that i didn't order as a free gift! Truly an incredible business, and don't believe any person on here or any other review site or app that gives Rainforest Flora anything less than 5 stars and a beautifully glowing review.
