I have had several items dry cleaned here. Both were professional cleaned and I was satisfied. Prices are very affordable. I paid no more than $4 in both cases. A sleeve of my suit got caught by a sharp object and was torn in about size of two quarters. I was not sure if the jacket could be saved or not so I googled for nearby alteration this place popped up. The lady who worked in the front told me that she was sure if it could be fixed but would ask her boss. I went back to the place a few days later to pick up the jacket and got my jacket as it is shown in the attached photo. I was like, "you could have called me and just told me that you guys couldn't fix it." The lady started to flip out and yelled at me saying "you wanted to fix it!" Right there on, I knew what was coming after, so I just paid the due and left the place without arguing. Avoid this place for any alteration job. read more

The woman (black frame glasses and long straight black hair) told me I should use crazy glue instead. I'm like are you serious? Then she goes, "Don't sew it on...it's so ugly..." with a smile. WTF? I didn't ask you for your opinion! I just want the freakin patch to be sewn onto the freakin jacket! The first time I came here my zipper was stuck on my jack and the woman behind the counter spent ten minutes trying to fix it even thought it was clearly beyond repair. The second time I came here my overcoat lost a button and she ended up fixing a second button because she said it was loose. I was recommended to go to this. Leaner when the one I went to down the street closed. My burst.visit here was a Hercules experience and all I wanted was a shirt washed and ironed--no problem. The second visit was not as good. I asked the Asian woman with the black framed glasses and long straight hair to wash and medium starch the shirt. When I went to pick up the shirt, it wasn't starched, but simply ironed. I told the lady that I asked for medium start h and she immediately got defensive and said I didn't ask for starch otherwise she would have written it on my ticket. I politely told her that I was certain I asked for the starch, but took the shirt and left. The third and last visit here was a few days ago when I went to pick up a shirt which I asked to be dry cleaned and starched. It was starched okay, but the cuff on the shirt still had visible staining and I showed her. With another customer present, the lady started yelling at me and said she put red taPe on the shirt and they already cleaned it. Obviously, the shirt was not at all cleaned to my satisfaction as the stain was still very visible. I then told the lady that I only asked her a question and that it was not right that she was yelling at me in front of another customer and then I left. I will not return and that business just lost mine and potentially so many more, since s I often refer the attorney where I work to local businesses. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I brought a very expensive BCBG dress in for my girlfriend to have cleaned on a same day service. I specifically showed them where each stain was on the dress and they marked them with some red masking tape. I showed back up at 4:30 to pick the dress up. It was in EXACTLY the same condition as when I dropped it off. All of the noted stains were still in the dress. At that time I refused to pay for the dry cleaning and they would not give me the dress until I did. They said the "don't guarantee" that they can get any garment clean. This is completely unacceptable, they were rude. And to top it all off they gave me a phone number to call their manager. The number was to the person I had spoken to not 15 minutes prior. The women who work here are very friendly, if a bit behind on their English lessons. The first time I went in there they did a great job hemming my pants and also taking them in. The only reason their rating is average is because I swear they changed their prices and this always bothers me for some reason. The first time I think it was $3 to have in the second time $6.75 or $7.75. Still, I bet it is pretty cheap comparatively... I will have to check. Taking in pants goes from $13-$18 Note that while the dry-cleaning is usually done in 1-2 days, tailoring take 3-4 days. Also, be sure to bring cash! read more

I usually feel like places that get 3.5 stars can't be thaaat bad...but after a few fine experiences here with the nice staff and reasonable prices... I picked up a bunch of dresses the other day and then Saturday night threw one on to go out to an engagement party. A minute later I was like "Man, I smell. I just showered. How do I smell already?" It took me a minute to realize but...the dress smelled like sweat. It was NOT clean. So that's an automatic 1-star-never-go-again in my book. If I give you something to clean, and it comes back dirty, then I'm not coming back. I'd recommend you save your time and money and go elsewhere as well. Damn cheap, and decent quality on dry cleaning and alteration. They hemmed my bridesmaid dress for $30, and the dress had 2 layers of fabric with a tough petticoat. An extreme bargain, indeed. Although they wouldn't adjust another bridesmaid's dress to open the sides, because it was "too much work" (honestly, I kind of like the no BS straightforwardness). I agree that this place is damn cheap (I got 2 dresses, 2 skirts, 6 blouses, and a scarf dry cleaned for $44), but apparently I got what I paid for. One of my silk shirts now has three small black droplets on the front which weren't there before, and another blouse was completely ruined by snags and ripped threads. I didn't find anything wrong on my tailored skirts or scarf. I guess this place is ok if you're looking for a cheap place to bring your everyday work clothes, but think twice before bringing anything made of delicate fabrics. read more

I have been coming here for years as an adult living in SF and well my OCD picky mom has come here my entire life. Their prices are amazing especially for the quality of a job they do. I got 13 items (dresses, suits, tons of pants and shirts) of clothing dry cleaned and half of them had minor tailor needed and one zipper replaced. All for $88. Seriously a good deal. They are friendly and can move the date up if you ask. They are really close to the financial district so convenient. Not that they are cash only but remember 88/13 = 6.79 and that is not including the tailoring. Worth the trip. read more

And sufiice to say, the service was really, really bad. I visited rainbow to have some shirts washed and pressed and have some wash and fold service. I have no problem with the shirts. It's the wash and fold that has me annoyed. They returned my dirty laundry...DIRTY! They had the audacity to put them in a neat, clean, fresh bag. But when I got back to my hotel, I took them out of the bag and was greeted by the wonderful smell of days old laundry! WTF! I need not say more. read more

I recently took a dress in to Rainbow Cleaners that had a grease spot on the front. When I dropped it off I pointed it out to the lady behind the counter. I'm pretty sure she either wasn't listening or didn't care because when I got the dress back the stain was still there. That's my only experience here, but my boyfriend now refuses to take his clothes here because he has gotten more than one back with a whole in the same place near the shoulder. He has also had an experience of them not having his shirts ready when they said and he had to go back the next day. This is one of the only places that does dry cleaning on site. That means they're able to do spot removal that most places won't even attempt. I brought in an extremely delicate silk shirt with water stains. Another dry cleaner refused to even attempt to remove and instead sent me to Rainbow. The woman at rainbow did an extremely careful job and charged me almost nothing. I will definitely bring all my dry cleaning here from now on. read more

My main complaint is that they staple the little identifying tag to the clothing tag. The staple ripped and created a hole in the back of my marc jacobs sweater, which I wasn't too pleased about. Very small. Almost difficult to find on kearny street. The ladies are really nice. I don't know their names but the one who's usually there in the morning is really friendly. Have been going here for about four years...and I'm a big fan of Rainbow. Please note....don't confuse them with the nearly identical cleaners of the same name (it may be Raindow Cleaners 1 vs 2)....which is on Kearny at Bush. The better of the two is the one at 610 Kearny. The owner is Betty and the other long term employee is Elaine. Very reasonable prices, quick turn-around (especially if you plead that you have big event the next day), high quality (I've never had re-do or problem...amazing) and they're pleasant people too. The only negs are that their english is quite limited, they take cash only and they're not open on Sundays, and their paperwork system is primitive....but after having tried several other cleaners...they're still heads and shoulders above the competition. read more

Great prices, items are ready when they are supposed to be. If you need things in a rush, they can usually accommodate you. On occasion, there will be a broken button or such. I had a beautiful dark color winter coat to dry clean there and the color faded a lot after dry clean. I am so sad because it's my favorite coat. I had dry cleaned several times in other places before and never had an issue. The staffs are friendly but maybe they need to change the detergent/ chemical used in dry clean. read more

Ok, so I usually would not write a negative comment unless I thought it was really neccessary...and so this is REALLY necessary. I wanted to take a shirt out of town and realized it was dirty so I took the shirt to get dry cleaned at Rainbow since it was near my office. I picked it, came home, and was going to pack it until I realized that the shirt was never cleaned!!!! I paid $3.50 for it which is not much but the shirt was still dirty...I swear it was not even attempted to be cleaned...it still smelled and still had that "dingy" look in it. I thought I was going crazy and had my roomate examinate it also and she was even like...OMG this is still dirty...it was REALLY OBVIOUS. Did they think I wouldn't notice. So, I took it elsewhere and even they were like no, this was not dry cleaned before. The OTHER cleaners did a great job and I could tell right off the bat that it was fresh and clean! DO NOT GO HERE unless you want to get ripped off and tricked! i can NOT believe they do business this way! and took my money eventhough they didn't even clean the shirt...and not that $3.50 is even a lot of money but it's the prinicpal of it. Trust me, I did not just take a cheap, old shirt there...this was a really expensive, nice shirt, new shirt.... SUPER DISAPPOINTED!!!! read more

Dropped off my long coat for dry clean last week. The lady who took my coat billed me $3.75. At pick up 10 mins ago, another lady behind the register told me that the lady who took my coat did not realize that it was a long coat ($11), so she billed me for the price of a short jacket. Just happened the owner and the lady who took my coat were there as well. So I told all of them that I offered to pay at the time I dropped off my coat, but she told me I could pay when I pick it up - meaning there was sufficient time for her to check out it was a long coat, not a short jacket. To my disappointment, the owner, instead of apologizing for the mistake, he said "there is no place it will cost you less than $10 for dry cleaning the long coat." What kind of attitude is that??????? I paid $10 because both ladies were apologizing and probably they are paid at minimum wage... this arrogant owner would ask her to pay for the difference if I insisted to settle for $3.75.
