I'm giving this place 5 stars bc they're conveniently open longer hours than most places in the hood. Cash only. (Keeps their prices low). I never carry cash so I like to pay in advance and keep a tab. $1.20 lb for wash and fold has changed my life. Used to do 4 loads of laundry at the local laundromat (2 hours of my life on Sundays that I will never get back) @ $17 every two weeks. Now I just drop it all off and spend $24-26. ($32 if I add all my towels bath mats and bedsheets). Did I mention you can drop off before noon and pick up same day? Game changer. Other reviews have some feedback on the the quality of folding. I guess it's not as perfectly folded as $1.75 lb places nearby (?) but it's 1000x better than my husband trying to help me fold. Plus I never want to fold huge bed sheets ever again!! Finally it smells so much better than when we wash our clothes at the nearby laundry mat. Our bath towels smell so fresh after each use. Never need to pick up heavy detergent again. They even have the option for sensitive skin detergent by request. Other pro: they ironed my huge wedding dress for $4. That would have taken me an hour to do myself. Dry cleaning is pretty standard priced and quality - I believe they send it out like all others, no? read more

If i could give this place negative stars I would. May Lee and her husband Ping used to be my go-to place for wash and fold since my unit in North Beach doesn't have laundry at all. At first, it was great. I could drop it off and pick it up the same day. But, one time, I came to pick up my clothes. I walked home and to be honest did not even check on it. When I was unpacking my laundry I realized I had someone else's bag of clothes mixed in with mine! If that's not bad enough, I was missing a few pairs of good jeans (they were my favorites which totally sucked), a few shirts, etc.. I went back immediately to tell May Lee there was a mix up. She was anything but apologetic. She told me I was difficult and that she was not responsible for this!!!!!! I have never been so angry. So, if I can stop anyone from using this service then I feel as though justice has been served! Don't go here. Awful. read more

Always welcoming, and they always put up with my antics (ex : constantly forgetting my laundry pickup ticket, forgetting my dry-cleaning for a month, leaving my keys IN my laundry...I'm a responsible adult, I promise). When I messed up my dress (a very pretty, champagne colored satin cocktail dress, mind you) with a vicious red wine spill, I brought this into May Lee because of her yelp reviews. She and her crew then examined the dress for a few seconds and said they'd do the best they can, but nooo guarantees. A few minutes later, I got a call from them on my cell to let me know the stains had some serious damage potential -- and they asked me if I was certain I wanted them to move forth with treating it. Gave em the green light, and they told me to come back Wed (it was Sunday). Called em Wed, y thetold me to come by Thurs. Came by Thurs - dress looked close to perfect. Small stain on the back but barely noticeable! $6.50 total. Will bring by some more regular garments and see what magic she can work on those at her cheap prices! read more

I've been going to May Lee's for over a year and this is the best price per pound wash and fold I've found in North Beach. They're great because they get it done same day, no problem. On Trac would give me attitude if I requested same day. I've also had them press a dress and stitch up a hole in a dress in one hour! The laundry also smells GREAT... but not over powering. I want to give them five stars, but one time i found another person's pair of underwear mixed in with mine.... makes me wonder if they're washing stuff together, or even if I've lost a piece of clothing to poor organization. I want to kiss the cheeks of May Lee every time I see her. I have myself on a tight leash on the wash n' fold front. The euphoria of 28 pounds of laundry arriving clean, folded, pressed, and organized is hard to resist, especially when the alternative is lugging it around the block in my slippers, pausing asthmatically on my neighbor's stoop half-way and racing back when the wash cycle's over to make sure I catch the perv who is undoubtedly attempting to make off with my skivvies. Sunday is also wino day at my laundromat. As this was the case, I drove my laundry over to May Lee along with mending, dry cleaning and alterations. As if wash'n fold isn't enough, everything else turned out perfectly and on time. The alterations were seamless (punny) and May Lee even made recommendations of how to make the clothes fit even better than I was instructing her. Came in over the last two weeks to have 10 different pairs of pants altered and brought in about 5 to 6 inches in the waist - lost about 40 to 50 lbs over the last few months. During my 1st visit - there was a slight hole in the ceiling from the upstairs apartment on Saturday May 19th, 2012 - however, they were working right thru it! Overall her attention to detail and work was quite commendable - and the price at $15 per pair of pants was unbelievable. Pants fit like a glove - and no longer drop to the ground without a belt. I would come more often if I lived closer for laundry @ $0.98 per pound and dry cleaning. Would recommend to anyone! read more

I was a bit concern given Brandon's review BUT after reading other reviews and other places, as well as passing by a few places nearby - I decided to give it a shot. I was going to start with a piece that's not expensive to test the water but before I had a chance to do that, I had a fire to put out on my brand new down jacket! I wore it to pick up a sandwich from Buster's the night before so it must have been the grease from the fries or something. I didn't even know until the next morning when my husband saw the stain. I rushed it down and had the saddest look on my face. May was asking what it was and how I got it and I told her I think it's grease from fries...she was not convinced and said she will try her best but can't guarantee and to allow her additional time. Take as long as you want if you can save my jacket! Came back a week later - she recognized me and said "you're lucky". A smile broke out of my face. Yup, she did it - although not completely GONE, you really can't see it unless you looked very closely and knew where the stain was. Her advice to me: "Be careful when you wear nice clothes in the future." ..."yes, ma'am!" All this - $5! That's beyond fair price for dry cleaning a down jacket. I have been here many times doing dry clean. It was good for the couple first times until they ruin one of my brand new BCBG dress. I went back to them, there was no apology, no reimbursement (even for the dry clean itself), and they asked me to return the dress to the merchant. How can I return a damaged dress caused by dry cleaning?? I will never go back to May Lee, NEVER. They never double check when you come back to pick up your clothes, because they know they may mess up something and they don't wanna confront you. I lived in North Beach around the corner from May Lee for 1 year. I had many good experiences with her but quite a few mishaps. Maybe I should have taken the hint after my 1st trip when I, an unsuspecting lad, leaving the world of mom's laundry service asked her what I should do with all of my work clothes..."dry clean them all" she said. Luckily my parents stopped by about 30 minutes later to drop off the rest of my things and my mom saw the ticket for 45 FREAKING DOLLARS. After learning to real way to clean work clothes I learned shirts dont need to be dry cleaned every time. Over the next few months I would show up on a tuesday, the day my clothes were to be ready, and nothing be there only to return 2 days later and have them be there...what happend to the "next day service" sign in the window. the final straw however was my last visit when i showed up to find a HUGE stain on a work shirt that i knew wasnt there when I brought it in. MayLee's husband/father?? told me "so sorry we fix" and i came back, not 1, not 3, but 4 FREAKING times only to find the same spot there...most likely bleach on a blue and white shirt. To humor him i allowed him to try to fix it, wondering how on earth he would do it. But as i suspected, HE DIDNT. and when i demanded money for the shirt, the typical argument ensued. I was yelled at, called "difficult," and asked never to come back...that i wasnt welcome. May Lee tried to play the good cop while her dumbass husband/father screamed at me, but i saw right through it. What happened to the customer is always right? and we'll do anything to make you happy with our service. guess that doesnt exist in may lee's world. needless to say, i didnt return, and will never return as long as i live. in fact, i spit on the ground in front of their store everytime i pass it b/c i am so bitter at how i was treated! Open 7 days a week till 7pm which is awesome. May Lee is always friendly and they turnaround dry cleaning pretty fast. I have taken a few loads down to get cleaned as well. $.98 cents a pound is a pretty good deal and they do a great job. I have take shirts here with some blueberry stains (don't ask) and they were able to get them out.
