HLP Dry Cleaner is now my go-to spot. The staff was so kind and clearly pays attention to detail, my dry cleaning came back looking great, and they even did a full zipper repair on two pairs of jeans that turned out perfectly. I paid $112 for 2 suits and 2 full zipper repairs, which felt like a fair price given the labor involved. Highly recommend, and I'll definitely be a repeat customer. read more

I've been here a few times for both alterations and dry-cleaning, and have had a great experience every time! Connie is so sweet and helpful. She's so efficient but careful when taking alterations, and has a very reasonable turnaround time. I've had two cocktail/wedding guest dresses altered by her, and they both turned out perfect! No issues with the dry cleaning service, either. Overall, reasonable price for great service--would definitely recommend coming to HLP! read more

Owner is a nice lady, but I really was not impressed with the cleaning job. Left a kimono to be cleaned. $25 She tagged areas with spots and lipstick mark. A week later spots still there, no comments on not being able to remove. Kimono placed in bag for return, but didn't seem to have been pressed as most items with cleaners. read more

I was in a bind. I was getting married at City Hall in three days. We flew up for the wedding. I was going to look my best. I even made sure our flight would get in on Monday afternoon so I could drop my tuxedo off at the fancy French dry cleaners before they closed. But the fancy French dry cleaners wasn't open that day. Because of the pandemic, they were only open every other day, which meant they wouldn't have my tuxedo ready until after my wedding. Good thing I had kept their number in my phone for 15 years. I was able to learn about my predicament without using Yelp or Google to search. So I turned on location services on my phone, got on Yelp, and looked for a dry cleaner near my Union Square hotel. There was the magic pull quote from the review: "If they say they will have your clothes ready by a certain date/time, they will have your clothes ready by then." Well, that's exactly what I needed. So I grabbed three garment bags (because my future stepsons had suits and shirts that also needed to be pressed) and hailed a cab (because walking a couple blocks uphill with three garment bags when you're trying to make it before closing time isn't worth it). When I got to the tiny storefront, I saw a customer getting a large order for him & his wife, though he had left his ticket at home. No matter, the proprietor, whom I believe was Connie, pulled out a composition book like you'd use in 8th grade, looked up his several orders, and retrieved them. Putting the school in old-school. I handed over the garment bags, explained my situation and impending wedding. Connie reassured me that everything would be ready Wednesday afternoon and that I wouldn't have to worry. Of course, I did worry, she came through. My soon-to-be wife & I returned to find everything pressed just like I asked. The boys looked great in their new suits, and my tuxedo looked crisp. Always great service here and prices are very reasonable! The lady who runs the shop is so sweet! Great work and I come here regularly. You won't be disappointed. Typically a week turn around time for items read more

TL/DR: Amazing customer service, will not cut corners and will be upfront about everything. I came here for the first time! I brought a ton of used curtains I just received that I thought were in good condition-- instead of simply taking the curtains and my money, the owner meticulously looked through every single one and showed me the smallest holes that I missed and told me these would break down very soon. She recommended that instead of having cleaners do them, I purchase brand new ones. Needless to say, she has won a permanent new customer. I will be coming back. read more

This was such a pleasant surprise! I'm overwhelmed by the totally vibrant personality of Connie, her total genius when it comes to repair and general seamstress services- she wasn't afraid of taking on my stack of mending! I totally fell in love with this place after Connie mended my detailed 16 pairs of pants among other things- I will just say that this is a local business that is worth supporting. read more

This is my local dry cleaner. She is the best. In addition to dry cleaning, I've taken pants there to be hemmed and they turned out great. I love this local business and I'm so glad to see that they survived the pandemic. read more

Connie is one of those people who simply makes your life better. No exaggerations. The dry cleaning is great, prompt, and fair too, but more than anything, you should come here to experience one of the best people in San Francisco. We've cried together, we've laughed together, and over all these years, we've spent, what, a cumulative hour together? Thank you for being you, Connie. read more

Very good customer service and excellent alterations. The pricing is very good especially on Nob Hill. The wash and fold is very nice too. I came in with a suit that was too long and Connie helped me make things fit and I feel so comfortable and confident now whenever I wear my suits for work. read more

One of the local businesses I'll miss the most as I move from SF to LA. Connie, the shop owner, is lovely and always greets me with a smile. My dry cleaning and laundry is always ready promptly and the prices are quite reasonable. Everything always comes out clean, perfectly pressed, and ready to wear. This shop has been part of the community for a while and I encourage anyone who wants to support local businesses to stop by! read more

Connie is very nice, does alterations fairly quickly (and will get them to you faster if you request it) and the price isn't bad at all.

Sadly, I do not live in SF anymore, but I was in town this week and have been living out of a suitcase and needed my laundry done for the week. I wanted to avoid laundromat's, as well as expensive hotel laundry services, so I came to HLP based on the great reviews and especially because I saw that they do wash & fold service. When I came in, Connie helped me right away and was so gentle and sweet which put me at ease! I had 2 loads of laundry and she was able to get them done for me that same day. I dropped them off at about noon and they were ready by 4:30 PM which was very convenient. When I picked up my clothes, they were dry, folded, and tightly organized in my laundry bag for me. I am not sure how the pricing compares to other places since I have only gotten my laundry done once (and it was in Italy), but Connie charged $32 total for my two loads of laundry. I am guessing it would have been way less if I went to a laundromat, but I needed something worry-free since I had to work, and Connie was able to take care of the wash/dry/fold for me. Overall I was very happy with this service and recommend it to anyone who needs wash & fold! read more

Connie is such a nice lady. Stayed open late just to get me in. Showed a lot of care for my pieces.

almost 4 years later and still using their wash and fold services. HLP does a great job - better than my mom since there's no judgmental comments on why I'm not doing my own laundry but quality almost as good. Here's why you should use HLP cleaners: 1. They will wash your clothes to your specifications if you sort them out that way (hot/warm/cold wash) and put a note in the sorted out bags; they don't overheat your clothes. 2. They return your clothes folded so nicely that often you won't have to iron your clothes if you put them away properly or hang them up immediately. Even if you don't, they'll still look good when you wear them. My mom was visiting and she was impressed by how good a job they did. 3. I did the math and it would be worth your while to drop off your clothes at HLP Cleaners instead of dragging them to the local laundromat and spending time doing them yourself. 4. They don't miss deadlines. If they say they will have your clothes ready by a certain date/time, they will have your clothes ready by then. FYI, I think that over the years, they may have lost a couple of pillowcases as I can't find them. The only other disadvantage I could see of using HLP cleaners is that you might lose out on meeting that certain someone in your life by not going to the local laundromat to do your laundry. You can always alleviate this lack in your life by cruising the local laundromats - here's how: take a book / newspaper / notepad to peruse at the local joint while you scope out the prospects. When you see a likely one, make eye contact and take it from there. If necessary, you can always commandeer one of the temporarily abandoned loads of clothes as yours. HLP Cleaners is run by a nice Chinese lady who is all about good customer service. Her english is ok but is sufficient to get by. I haven't tried their dry cleaning services. If you are too busy, too scared, too tired, or in too much pain to wash, dry, and fold your own clothes, HLP Cleaners is your business to frequent. HLP Cleaners, the clean clothes killer of laundromat romances ;) read more

I've been going here for 3 years but I haven't had the chance to write the review. I live right next to the Trader Joes off Hyde and have to pass 2 other dry cleaners to come here. Enough said. read more

So nice and accommodating! I brought in a HUGE bag of clothes before a trip and they made sure I got everything cleaned asap, within 2 days. AMAZING. The prices are totally reasonable too. I've had some horror stories with dry cleaners in the past, and this place is amazing!! read more

The owners are really sweet, but I've been going there for almost 2 years now and about every third time I send in/pick up dry cleaning a sweater (always a sweater) comes back with holes in it. I've chalked it up to maybe I didn't see the hole before, maybe it was just a one-off incident, but this latest one (pic) was the last straw. read more

HLP Dry Cleaner - 4 holes in one sweater - Sewing & Alterations Near Me - San Francisco, California

First the good points: HLP was able to dry clean my shirt in a few days (even though it was a holidy week), while some other nearby dry cleaners gave a week long turnaround time. Also, the price ($5) was in line with other nearby cleaners and the lady there was super sweet. So I hate to give a mediocre review, but I was a bit disappointed for two reasons: 1) I brought in a wing collar shirt (for a tuxedo) rather than the more common laydown collar type of shirt. HLP folded the collar as if it was laydown, leaving an ugly crease. I brought it to a different dry cleaner the next week, and they did it properly. Only the "wings" in front are supposed to be folded. I wouldn't expect a normal Joe off the street to get this right (I certainly wouldn't have before I bought the shirt), but I think it's reasonable to expect laundering professionals to know the difference. 2) I asked whether I should launder or dry clean the shirt, and she said I should definitely do the (more expensive) dry clean. But the next week when I washed it again, the other dry cleaner immediately answered that normal laundering would be fine, and it was. read more

I took five different jackets in for alterations. Some just needed the sleeves hemmed. Some had very detailed work done, like hemming the bottom of the jacket and raising the pockets up an inch and sewing the vents shut in the back. I brought another jacket in a few years back that I needed taken in quite a bit - a job that seemed impossible even to the seamstress there. On all my coats, she did an AMAZING job. There is no sign work was done. I travel half way across the city to get my stuff done in this little neighborhood shop. I won't trust anyone else with my good clothes. read more

They dry cleaned 2 of my jackets and made them look brand new. Very good service. I had one khaki jacket I thought was in its last days, as I was washing it wrong. Took it to this place and was stunned at how new it looks. The lady who works there is very nice and welcoming. I'll definitely use this place for my dry cleaning needs. read more

Connie is very kind and listened to my needs about altering a bridesmaid dress. After Connie's alterations, the dress was exactly what I envisioned! Also, the location is perfect for anyone who lives in Nob Hill/Russian Hill and walks to or from work in FiDi - the location is super convenient and they're open until 7pm. read more

Never thought I would be writing a review on my dry cleaning/alterations spot but here we are. Connie is the sweetest. She is an adept seamstress and has done great alterations for some very fancy dresses. More importantly, she makes every one of her customers feel cared for and special, something I definitely was not expecting! I walk out of the shop feeling like a million bucks (yes, I am a sucker for effusive compliments). Thanks Connie! read more

I'm perpetually late ---- so it's no surprise that I'd be late everytime I went to HLP. I always knock on the door, 5 minutes after 7pm (when they close), however, they always open their closed doors when they see me running by. I love them for that. If you ever need something in a rush, the nice lady will do everything possible to get you your clothes on time. Plus, they do an incredibly amazing job with tailoring/washing/dry cleaning. The prices are pretty good too! A true neighborhood joint --- I'm incredibly lucky to live so close to them! read more

I've lived in San Francisco a few years now, and I can't stress how important the relationship is between you and your dry cleaner. Whether it's wash and fold or getting that load of dress shirts and pants clean for the upcoming week, your dry cleaner can make your life pleasantly easy or an absolute hell. HLP is truly an awesome establishment. It's run by an Asian couple (I think they have a location on Bush St as well) who are very nice and accommodating to your schedule. They try to make exceptions if you need something back sooner than normally allowed, and just generally try to keep you happy with your service. 100% recommended, no doubt. read more

I recently moved to Nob Hill and needed to find a new dry cleaner. I found this place here on Yelp! and took some suits that I needed for work. The reviews that say that the customer service at this place is unlike any other dry cleaner is completely true. The woman at the front is super friendly and very grateful to her customers. The suits were well-done, and I also dropped off clothes for wash and fold. There's no minimum weight and it's 1.25 a lb, so really reasonable, especially compared to the online services that will come and get it. I highly recommend! read more

Connie is AMAZING! She always sets great expectations, my clothes come back perfect, she is delightful, and I love dropping my clothes off.

Best cleaners ever. Super sweet. Kind service. Great job. Fair price. I've been to two others on this street that don't even clean the whites. Looks like they just ironed my dirty shirt. But HLP cleans very well. Love them. read more

I am writing this for the Bush St. location - in the 900 block - they share facilities, I think. Joseph is amazing. He is very friendly, remembers my name, knows exactly how I like my shirts (I have a couple of standing "special" requests), and he DELIVERS! No more stopping somewhere else, picking up my shirts, and schlepping them home. He also has done a fabulous job on blankets, comforters and even pillows! read more
