Did anyone ever see that movie "Elephant Walk" with Elizabeth Taylor? It's like that..

#13/2016 With 15 Maytag high efficiency washers and 7 Dexter big-load machines (one seemingly big enough to launder a sofa), The Hayes Laundromat is a solid neighborhood spot when you have to get a lot of laundry done fast- or in my case, launder heavy items like goose down duvets and coverlets that need high capacity washers and very hot industrial dryers to be cleaned and dried properly. The machines are spotless and judging from the empty clang once you deposit your quarters (note to would-be thieves) coins are emptied out regularly. A narrow space that gets steamy once a few dryers are going, The Hayes Laundry would feel cramped, fast, if you were doing laundry in prime time. I got lucky with (unmetered) street parking so I didn't have to haul stuff very far. Not experienced with high efficiency washers, I got frustrated watching a load with one minute to finish tumble dry, then stand still, then tumble dry again and again for 15 minutes, aargh! Clean washers & dryers, average price, they also have a change machine that dispenses tokens good for use only at The Hayes. I recommend.

The have change machines for 1, 5, 10, & 20 dollar bills and 75c 1 load boxes of detergent.

This place is PERFECT. It's immaculately clean, it hasn't been busy, and there are 75c one-load detergent boxes. Also - change machines for $1,5,10 & 20 bills. And there is an ATM. MY laundromat for sure.

The dryer powered off with $5 and wet laundry. Lame.

As far as laundromat a go, it's okay. Three main problems: 1) The dryer powered off in the middle of a run and ate $5. No one here to fix it; no phone number to call. There was another woman whose money was also taken. 2) The dryers are very particular about how you put quarters in. It took me almost ten minutes to put $15 of quarters in the machine. Too fast, too slow, not enough spin, dropped in with a plop, and the machine rejects the quarter. 3) Extremely expensive. The $2.75 washer is smaller than a bucket. Really a rip off.

The current wash and fold prices are awesome (25% discount). And it comes wrapped in nice paper. Turn around time is great as well.

Best laundry spot in the neighborhood! Always clean, free wifi, lots of machines (also inexpensive too), and Vernon is the man!

Not sure if they're in the process of renovating but even when I came here few months back, it still looked the same so I don't think they're in a renovating process or it would have been done by now. Quarters use to give 7 minutes and now they give 5 minutes. You'll get your basic laundry needs done here if you're just coming to wash and dry clothes. I personally haven't used their services but seems like they're great base on other reviews. There's some cute decors around the place now but the place is absolutely filthy which is ironic when it's a place you come to get your clothes cleaned. Machines are dusty, found pet hair or some kind of fur in some machines, floors are dirty, and it looks like someone was sleeping here and left their blanket here. A worker came in and didn't even bother getting rid of it. There's wooden boards around the place too and benches are dirty which sucks if you want to just stay, relax, and wait for your laundry. Some pros: they have a vending machine for snacks and laundry needs and they have a scan and pay on some of their machines.

CHECK YOUR CHARGES! & WATCH OUT IF YOU'RE A WOMEN BECAUSE THE STAFF WILL YELL IN YOUR FACE!…read more This place charges an automatic $15 for EVERY wash & only 40% of the time does it actually refund you the amount it says it cost. BEWARE OF THE MANAGER WHO HAS A RECEDING HAIRLINE AND GRAY HAIR TRYING TO REACH HIS SHOULDERS. HE IS DISRESPECTFUL AND WILL IMMEDIATELY YELL. Noting that this place SAYS it takes Apple Pay, but it actually doesn't work on ANY machine. They don't warn you at all. They wait until you lugged your laundry there, put it in the wash and put your detergent in for you to find out on your own that Apple Pay actually DOESNT WORK on ANY machine. I voiced my disappointment and suggested they put a sign up or something. I spoke to the balding manager in Spanish to keep my feedback between us. He then went ahead and switched to English on purpose (to belittle me because he assumed I didn't speak English) he raised his voice so loud so that the ENTIRE PLACE could hear him in English, he put his hand in the air and pointed at the door and said "IF YOU DONT LIKE IT GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!" As a grown woman I have NEVER been yelled that loudly in my life! ( I genuinely feel bad for the women in that mans life, it was waaay to easy for him to default to scream at a women like that). And the short man who was cleaning laughed at me when this happened. Rude men work here!!! All the people in there paused and stared. It was beyond belittling and not a business I will EVER support again. I am part of many Lower Haight communities and have taken the time to tell everyone about this devastating situation this man/business put me in. AND ON WOMENS MONTH! My neighbors and I have now bought a washer and dryer and share it between the building so now nobody goes here. But if you must, I recommend The Hayes Laundry or Fiesta Laundry, who has parking and charges you exactly the price to see displayed. After this I checked my charges and they have been charging me $15 per wash 40% of the time without any refund. They have been stealing money from their customers this entire time. Respect women and your customers!

All but the detergent dispenser with individual boxes of Tide and the like were quarters-only; the washers and dryers accept both coins and credit cards, convenient! It took a few times to swipe my card at the correct angle but I got it. Dryers were HOT so $0.25 for 5 minutes went far. All our clothes were dry in 25 minutes, maybe 30 for heavy towels and jeans. Free parking out back, easy to load up and drive off. Pressed for time? They offer wash & fold. I'll be back soon to do heavy items like my duvet and comforter where these machines do a better and faster job than the three sad machines in my building. My clothes seem a lot cleaner and the chore, completed much faster.
