I tried Tony Cleaners for the first time because my usual laundromat was on vacation this week. I needed wash and fold service, which I initially thought they didn't offer because they mostly focus on dry cleaning. However, I brought in a big bag of clothes, and the lady (possibly the owner) was very welcoming and assured me they could handle wash and fold. They even asked what detergent I preferred, and since I didn't have any with me, they used their own Tide detergent. When I returned later that afternoon, my clothes were beautifully folded, clean, and smelled great. The price was very reasonable too. Long story I'll skip but my pricy Pendleton blanket had shrunk by 10 inches all around and had the consistency of an Austrian boiled wool jacket. I thought it was hopeless. But like other talented vendors in SF who've saved me, I snapped my fingers and thought, "I'll see if Toni Cleaners can help!" Cleaned then steamed then steamed and stretched, steamed and pressed, repeat again and again until my Pendleton beauty was restored to its former glory. What Toni Cleaners did is nothing short of a *miracle*. Not only beautiful and warm but this blanket was my cat Tinkerbell's comfort object. She happily spent Saturdays melting into it while listening to opera on KDFC and in the final weeks after a shock cancer diagnosis. She died far too young. I agree with Molly M's assessment. I've been going to Toni's Cleaners for almost 20 years. They are a family owned shop with ample regular clientele. The owners know all their customers and a claim ticket is not necessary. Whenever I visit the shop they automatically pull my laundry & dry cleaning and I've never had an item lost. All the laundry is done in-house and dry cleaning is sent out to a 3rd party. The turn around time is fair and rush services are available upon request. They also offer alteration services. The lady didn't give me an estimate when I dropped off my dry cleaning, and I feared the worst (i.e., a $$$$$$ bill) when I picked it up. But color me pleasantly surprised when she charged me $60 for: 4 sweaters, 3 dress pants, a pair of pants that needed patching at the crotch (yeah...), a pair of pants that I wanted hemmed, and a long-sleeved dress shirt that I wanted to be converted into a short sleeve shirt after blowing a hole at the elbow. And everything was very nicely pressed and creased in the right places. I love this terrific, customer friendly and reliable place in the Castro! I have been using Toni Cleaners for about a year and have been impressed with their service and reasonable prices. The shirt laundering prices are or less than most other cleaners I have seen in the city (especially compared to my old place in Noe Valley) and the dry cleaning prices are fair. Clothes are always on time and look great. They are also terrific for alterations and I have been very impressed with their reasonable pricing and very high quality. Best of all they are clearly a local-owned business and are always friendly, prompt, and helpful. While my former roommate loved this place, I cannot share the same sentiment. I went on her recommendation the FIRST TIME. She lauded their reasonable rates and extra touches. So, I took my load of dry cleaning to this humble establishment. RESULT: More EXPENSIVE than I anticipated. They are also CASH ONLY. So, I was thankful I am a Bank of America customer and there's an ATM at the California Pacific Davis Campus a few blocks away. My dry cleaned clothing was gross. I understand when it comes to clothing, it's the outside that counts, but it's the inside that lays against my skin. It was the inside of the pants and shirt collars that still had that film of dirt still there. I did take them back, and they did redo them, and they came out clean. So that is why I took my clothing back for a SECOND VISIT. RESULT: This time, the clothing I received appeared clean. However, they did NOT give me ALL of my items. This may be in part to the fact that half were laundered and pressed while the other half was dry cleaned. I'm still awaiting for the call that they've located my shirts. read more

I tried to use this place once and my wife twice and all three times it was the same story. After waiting in line we get to the counter and they won't take our clothes. They point to a business card size piece of paper on the counter saying they aren't taking new customers. Not that I believe that but if it's true, why not put the sign in the window so we don't waste our time. Won't be going back which I assume is what they want for what ever reason. read more

I had to leave a review here because Irene at Toni Cleaners went above and beyond to provide customer service this weekend. She's an angel. I dropped off a tuxedo suit and shirt on Saturday morning around 10am for an event that night and she offered same-day cleaning. An exception and a lucky start. Then, after getting caught in traffic heading back from Napa she stayed 45 minutes past closing to make sure I had my clothes for the evening. I couldn't believe it. I like this place. There are far to many places to take shirts for laundry to go to anyplace you don't like. They are friendly. The shirts come back always done very well and on time. I've used them for over a year. Oh, and if you need a little sewing, they're great for that. Dry Cleaning is a little expensive, but I don't have much of that. Their shirt laundry is mid-range in price. I hate going to the cheapest place and having my shirts come back with creases where they have been all jammed together on the rack. read more

I came back a short time later to the laundrymat and saw my quilt in the washing machine in the laundry. I complained at Toni's, got some bs story.
