We were headed through town and starving so we decided to give this place a try. The tea and food were really good. We sat on the patio which was really nice and we had the perfect weather to do so. My only complaint is my wrap was tiny. I was still going to be hungry so my fiancé switched me half my wrap for half of his chicken sandwich which was wonderful too. The chicken was cooked perfect. I asked the waiter and she confirmed the lunch portion wrap was slightly smaller than the normal portion, but "not by much." My plate was even small for size reference. Later on, we stoped at a friend's birthday party, we told them about our experience and they reported they used to go to Rails all the time but it just wasn't the same anymore. They included details of how wonderful the crab cakes used to be and now they are no longer on the menu. Over all, I'd definitely go back and order more next time. The food itself was great. Really enjoyed the older couple that sat next to me that were locals and regulars. They said they eat here four times per week. What does that tell you. Heading South to Louisville, and we made a stop in Seymour, IN. After a quick Yelp search, we found Rails Craft Brew and Eatery. Now I have to admit, we were convinced after seeing "craft brews" and chicken tenders, but we should have explored the beer menu because we just assumed they were a local brewery. They are not. We enjoyed a couple of cold brews; the Ruby Bloom from Bloomington Brewing Company was pretty damn good. They have $10 lunch specials that include the chicken tenders. I had a side of fries and the hot honey dipping sauce. My wife enjoyed the chicken bacon ranch wrap with sweet potato waffle fries. The coolest thing was the location and decorations. Right beside an active set of tracks, and decorated with numerous traffic and brewery signs, very cool. So it was a very cool place to stop for lunch. We love stopping by Rails and supporting a local business. My daughter's favorite is the chicken tenders and I often get them, as well! We have our favorite servers, who are always attentive. I stopped in on a Saturday early afternoon. Once seated, I looked over the beer list and menu. Draft brews that were offered included Bud Light and Michelob Ultra which was a downer considering they aren't craft brews at all. Ordered a southwest salad which was good. Not great but good. From reading reviews, I gathered that people either love this place or hate it, particularly they don't like the service. I was very fortunate and had a great waitress take care of my lunch. Lindsey G. got my order, both meal and beverage, taken and delivered promptly. She even got my check processed and a to go box so that I could get back on the road. While there, I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap that let me pick three different ways of having the Chicken prepared (grilled and unbreaded for me.) I also got to pick from a number of sides and decided to upgrade for an extra buck to the grilled asparagus topped with shredded cheese. Lindsey had raved about how good their grilled veggies were and she was right. Lots of buttery flavor with just a hint of char on the asparagus that were fully cooked, but not limp and soggy. Went here before my doctor appointment and I have to say the food is sooo good! I got the breaded mushrooms and the Caesar salad. The breaded mushrooms were so yummy! The perfect amount of breading without being to salty. The salad was on another level. The dressing was sooo good and it had a good amount of croutons which is always a plus. My sever was a female with blond hair and she was very very nice and very helpful when I had questions. Definitely recommend this place. I also forgot the prices are so good! We have been to Rails three times now. Once at a table for dinner and twice at the bar drinks and apps. Service. The one time we sat for dinner it took over 30 minutes for the server to even get our drink order and then at least another 20 minutes before we got our drinks. The service did not get any better for the rest of the morning. The bar was a different story. Service was quick and friendly. Food. The food is a bit blah. Execution on temperature is also not their strong suit. I recommend sticking to the apps that aren't hard to screw up and the kitchen does okay with. I recommend the pretzels and beer cheese. Beer. They present themselves as a craft beer bar but they only actually carry 5 or so beers on tap. They have more in bottles but if I want a bottle I will go to the liquor store. If you are looking for craft beer on tap in Seymour I would recommend trying out Pizza Palace's renovated bar. Overall. We will continue to give the bar a chance and perhaps order dinner at the bar sometime but we are probably to jaded to test the dinner waters again. read more
