Tamarindo Pacifico cocktail and chips
Ali L.

This place recently went from counter to full service and I thought that it was a better experience that way. Our servers were sweet and helpful and the food just tastes fresh and flavorful. Opted for a cocktail this time and it was very good. Enjoyed a Raices and tried a Tamarindo Pacifico. Will definitely be back for more!

Our waiter was super slow and forgot every single thing we asked him for... from menus, to refills, to check... food was good overall. Inside and outside seating available. Will come back to try their breakfast crepes.

We were impressed with Raices when we first visited last year, but they recently closed, remodeled a bit, and upgraded the menu extensively. And UPGRADE is the the word here. We dropped in for lunch today, and were impressed. It was good before, but now has kicked it up a couple of notches. A much more extensive and interesting menu that includes their usual mex dishes but now includes more breakfast - omelets, pancakes, waffles, eggs PLUS sandwiches (Cubano, Reuben, etc)) and Crepes! Plus a serious flight of coffee drinks that are creative and exceptional. We ordered Carnitas Crepes (salsa verde, sour cream, cheese, pico de gallo, and avocado) and the Reuben sandwich (multi grain toast with beef pastrami, grilled cabbage, dijon mustard, and parmesan truffle fries / side of thousand island). As usual, their chef puts out high quality food and we were not disappointed. But the star of the show today was the Spanish Shaken Ice Latte (condensed milk, double espresso, shaken and topped with whole milk). I love coffee, and this drink had me sighing with pleasure after every sip. Killer.

Good food and a good price especially if you order whatever is on special that day! I came on a Tuesday and ordered the tacos. Each taco was delicious but my favorite was actually the Revolucion taco it was very basic ingredients but boy was it tasty! I did add peppers from the salsa bar to the taco to elevate it even more! I also ordered the Reyand the Raices taco which were also both delicious! The waiter helped me decide on rice as a side which was a great choice!

The food here is UNMATCHED and delicious. It's seasoned with the Latin flare. The food is plated well. There is a chef here that is doing their job. The bowl de la pollo was FORK-LICKING good. I paired it with a green salsa (somewhat spicy) to just give me an extra flavor. The rice in the bowl was well cooked and FLAVORED. The chicken was tender, and the salad/garnishment was fresh and crispy. Just a SUPERB job. My low rating is due to logistics. It's not understood that this place is cafeteria-like dining. So my friend and I sat down WAITING for service. Unbeknownst to us we were to go to the cashier to place an order. Also, with the place being new, the LACK OF CARE placed on utensils, the salsa bar, the menu, the glassware for bar drinks, and staff is noticeable. It made for a LACKLUSTER experience and kinda ruined our girls night. I ordered a guava-rita expecting a bar glass with fancy bar dressings. it came in a REGULAR drink cup. Furthermore, you have to clean your area when you get up (this was the only thing explained to us mid-meal). I'm not sure why I gave them a tip.

Great food, good margaritas and awesome vibes! Love coming here for dinner. Definitely recommend

I recently had the opportunity to try Raices. They are a new fast-casual Mexican restaurant in Bartram and they had me at quesabirria tacos. For starters I got a spicy guava margarita that was incredible and we tried several items from the menu including quesabirria tacos, Tlayudas Oaxaquenas (Mexican pizza), flautas, chicharrones, and frozen margaritas! Everything was tasty. From the same family behind Peppers Cocina, Raices means 'roots,' and you can taste the love & tradition in every bite. The decor is really beautiful as well! Next time you want a good taco and margarita, try them!

First of all, the restaurant is about 20 miles from home. I was happy to arrive when I did. I assumed they were open until 9pm or later. I believe they close at 8:30 pm. We ordered a shrimp taco, shrimp bowl, chicken quesadilla, chips /salsa, queso, and fountain drinks. The food came out to us as soon as it was ready, I liked that. I loved the dishes. The food was good, plentiful, fresh and delicious. The shrimp taco was a little bit juicy and messy. Everything else was top notch. The atmosphere was great. The restaurant was immaculately clean. I loved the decor, especially the lamp/shades. I believe they came straight from Mexico. I am a lamp freak, so those really caught my eye. I love the tables and chairs. Very comfortable. They have outdoor dining as well. The young lady that took our order, let me sample the cinnamon horchata. It was good. Pros: everything! Parking was plentiful as well. They do have a bar. Cons: shrimp taco was a little bit juicy. Hard to eat. Recommend? YES, I see Raices being a successful restaurant.

Food is delicious Service is fast! The presentation speaks highly and reflects the pride they have in their dishes. Live music was playing, making the environment cozy.

Located in the Shoppes at Bartram Park (13820 Old St. Augustine Rd, Jacksonville, FL), Raíces has recently opened its doors, taking over the former Tijuana Flats location. The renovation is tastefully done--clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed for a casual dining experience. Upon entering, the ordering process is typical of fast-casual restaurants: place your order at the counter using overhead menu displays. However, the initial interaction with the staff left something to be desired. There was no greeting or warm welcome. I had to initiate the exchange by asking for a moment to review the menu. While the young team members were polite, their demeanor lacked the enthusiasm one might expect from a newly opened restaurant eager to make a strong first impression. Frankly, the experience felt more like interacting with a kiosk than with people excited about their food and brand. The menu itself is quite limited and, in my opinion, somewhat overpriced for what's offered. We ordered burritos, which were generously sized but arrived solo on the plate--no sides, garnishes, or flair. Unfortunately, the food was served barely warm, with some areas noticeably cool. The burrito's filling included corn, carrots, and cabbage--ingredients more in line with a fusion concept than traditional or Tex-Mex fare. While not completely dry, the burrito lacked the moisture and flavor I had hoped for. A splash of tomatillo sauce did help improve the taste, but it wasn't enough to elevate the dish overall. A staff member did stop by to ask how the burritos were, which I appreciated. However, I chose not to share detailed feedback, having already decided this wouldn't be a place I'd return to. Like many counter-service establishments, Raíces asks for a tip during checkout, even though customers order at the counter, collect their own drinks, and bus their own tables. What stood out was the inconsistency: the Credit/debit card system prompted tipping options starting at 15%, but the printed receipt showed suggested amounts ranging from 2% to 7%. If tips are encouraged, aligning those suggestions would at least help set clearer expectations. In short, while I was hopeful that Raíces could become a go-to spot close to home, the overall experience--from food quality to service style--fell short. With some adjustments in both the kitchen and front-of-house approach, there's potential here, but for now, it's a one-and-done visit for me.

My coworkers and I came here for lunch. I was surprised it wasn't busier considering how amazing it was! We got chips and salsa and queso. We got a burrito, quesobirria, and a chicken rice bowl. They food was delicious. The bar was lovely and they had amazing cocktails; buy 1 get 1 half off all day. They have a salsa bar as well. The place was clean and well kept. I can't wait to come back.

So overall, the food was decent but a bit salty, and the flavor didn't really stand out. To me it had more of a chain restaurant feel, kind of like something you'd get at Chili's rather than a more authentic Mexican spot. Drinks were mixed for us. My wife had margaritas and enjoyed them, honestly I don't think she's ever met a margarita she didn't like. I tried the Old Fashioned, which just wasn't my style. It tasted more like Fireball on the rocks than a traditional Old Fashioned. One thing they definitely did right was the service. Even though the restaurant was crowded, the wait staff was friendly, attentive, and stayed on top of everything the whole time. Overall, it's a cool spot with a fun vibe and good staff. If you're looking for a lively place and want to see some flaming food presentations, it's worth checking out.

My mom has always enjoyed Lola's Burrito & Burger Joint since they first opened and my daughter was craving their empanadas. Today's meal: Mom ordered a beef empanada (by suggestion of her granddaughter) and a side order of black beans (she's always loved black beans). My daughter, of course, order a beef empanada as well with a Mexican Street Corn on the side. Her two favorite items from here. She will literally get this every single time we come. I've been craving burgers, especially since all the fast food CEO's are "fighting" over who has the crappiest, I mean best, burger. I've never had a burger from Lola's before so today I chose the Ragin Cajun burger and I loved it. I do prefer a smash burger, but Lola's patty is a thick and juicy patty cooked to your likeness (I chose medium). Topped with bacon, cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and a Cajun ranch dressing. This burger was delicious. I have my favorite burgers in Jax, and this can sit in that top 5 for sure. I will definitely be more open to trying other burgers from their menu in the future, but generally speaking, if you don't know, I'm addicted to tacos and tacos are usually my "goto" here. If you haven't had a burger from Lola's and enjoy a nice beefy patty, highly recommend giving them a shot. They have a variety of different ones to choose from. Oh! I almost forgot... the French fries! I usually get chips and queso here, but opted for a side of fries today and man, their fries are great! They use the same seasoning that comes on their chips on the fries and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly and then topped with some parmesan cheese. Good stuff!

Would be happy to go back!
