I was so impressed with this ski mountain. It is small but it is mighty. Came up on a weekend and as any southern NH mountains, it was pretty busy. Waited about 20-30 minutes in the lift line but thats how it is sometimes. They only had two lifts running and the lines morphed into each other. Besides the long lines, the workers were incredibly kind and worked very hard. The mountain its self was awesome; full of glades, great trails and I came after it got dumped on with snow! The lodges were busy as heck but that is again, how it is. I will 100% come back, it was so impressive. read more

What a solid ski mountain! I used to come here annually as a kid and it was a great experience returning as an adult on the Indy Pass. The one bummer was the little goat shack on the bunny hill no longer hosts any goats which was always a fun little quirk to ski by. The blues and black diamonds are short but solid runs that were so fun to rip down. The main lift is speedy. Decent space and storage in the lodge. Would highly recommend and would return! read more

I went here for my cousin's wedding. Where you park to where you walk is a hill, and a bunch of gravel and dirt. Then to the ceremony area where it is gravel, grass and dirt. If you plan on attending a wedding here, and it is outdoors in the same area, then do not wear heels. They go right through the ground. Other than that it was beautiful. The ceremony was nice, the weather was working with us because it was beautiful out. the sun was beaming, I wish they would have had us facing away from the TheTheThesun, but not sure what the reason for the way the seating was; was for a specific reason. The people that worked the wedding was so nice. I only got the two bar tender names Jake and Peter. They were not awesome and cool, they did such a great job. I must have tipped all the cash I had they were delightful. The reception was decorated nicely and the food was good. They went around with appetizers and there was champaign on the table. It really is a beautiful area. The gravel I can live without but you cannot beat this place for a cute and great wedding. read more

I got to the mountain around 10am, at 4pm these two dogs were still in this car. I reported it to two employees (one at 2:30 and another again at 4). The dogs were visibly shaking/cold, it barely got to 20 degrees today! Their response was to shrug their shoulders and ask me what I wanted them to do about it. Really liked this mountain for a good day trip. I'm not a very experienced skier and I felt like this mountain was really easy for me to navigate and get better on. We went on a Sunday at 12. If you're a New Hampshire resident you can get a half day pass for almost half the price of a full day lift ticket. Ski rentals were also about $44. We went in a Sunday and it wasn't too packed and the trails were really wide. read more

BEWARE: this mountain does not make good when the lift isn't working. We bought tickets online morning of. When we arrived, only the smallest lift serving the beginner area was running despite the website advertising 17 trails open. When we inquired we were told the only thing they could do was a voucher only good for this season (not helpful given we travelled to the area and did not plan to come back this season). All we got were shoulder shrugs. So, we wasted a day driving out so that the women in the office could argue with us about how we shouldn't have been able to buy tickets day of (totally irrelevant to the problem). The website lied and no one seemed to care in the slightest. The attitude and demeanor gave a strong impression that this is their standard practice. Do nothing to help inform people a head of time, no signs or info posted, just take people's money and then give them the runaround despite the situation being a clearly cut issue with their lift. With so many other options in this area why give your money to people with so little regard for you and your time? We will not be returning next ski trip. read more

Ragged is a basic mountain, but has the prices of a more sophisticated mountain. The lodge is rustic, which is fine, but there's really nowhere to put your boot bags etc. Most people just deal with this and the table areas get cluttered. No BFD. However, someone who works in the lodge comes through every once in a while and tosses everything into giant piles along the walls. Think upturned coolers, boots that have landed yards away from each other, people sorting through piles of stuff trying to find their families' belongings. The grooming also lacks sophistication. The trails could be great, but often are not (while the mountain I skied the day prior or after was terrific). The uncouth also extends to one particular lift operator, who, as it was explained to us multiple days, "seems to be having a really bad day..." The other guys working at the lift noticibly flinch when Jim lets loose one of his rants agains the kids in ski school, the teens on the race teams (some who are mine), and yes, me, a middle aged rule following mom who was following the instructions of the other lift guy. Jim disagreed, had me (and a friend) step out of line and go back a few chairs, leaving the chair we were supposed to be on missing 2 riders. Again, no BFD, but he seems to really enjoybeing an a-hole and showing how much power he has to make people do things. Having other Ragged employees apologie for his nastiness was nice, but why his behavior is tolerated remains a mystery. Oh, and don't bother showing up on a Saturday. They oversell the place to the max. read more

We loved Ragged Mountain. The 2 main lifts, a quad and a 6 person, both high speed detachables, are ROCKET SHIPS. You get to the top in a hurry. Lots of variety in the trails - something for everyone. Beginner, intermediate, expert, moguls, glades, steeps. We spent some time in the bar too. Meghan the bartender and Ashley the waitress were great. We had fast and friendly service. They have a great local beer selection too. We will be back for sure! They even have their own app with a trail map, conditions and more. read more

With the corporate merger fever among ski areas reminiscent of the airline mergers in the early 2,000s, skiers and riders have found themselves in a quandary of customer service issues and resort experience issues. The Kearsarge/Sunapee area is fortunate - better yet, blessed, in that not one, but two mid-size ski areas are relatively not in the corporate acquisition and merger mania. One of them is Ragged Mountain. It is a well kept secret in the area. Lines are minimal. Runs can be challenging. There is an entire bowl of off-piste and tree-filled glades. And the resort is expanding to provide additional runs and challenges. The customer experience at Ragged is superb. Parking is readily available and close to the lodge. The lodge is a beautiful example of what a ski lodge should be like, with a huge four-sided fireplace and all customer-related infrastructure on one floor. A large bar and separate restaurant upstairs. Once outside, the six-pack high speed is never full. And the terrain, although needing additional snowmaking, is nonetheless superb. The glades between Ragged and Spear Peaks are a delight if a couple of large storms make their way up the area. We wish the expansion takes place in the near future to ensure the resort maintains its allure. read more

This has been my go to mountain for the past 20 years of my life. The size is perfect and their prices are better than many surrounding mountains. My 7 year old daughter did the Bebe Woods Beginning Ski Program and by the end of the 3, 2 hours lessons she was able to ski good enough for her and I to go together on the mountain the rest of the day. I read in a previous review that the Bebe Woods Program was a "scam" which is so far from the truth. We paid a $20 deposit for each lesson and at the end of the lesson we got each deposit back in a resort credit which we then used to buy her a $40 ticket to the lower part of the mountain (which is all you need to be doing if you're a beginner). Helmets, skis, and boots are covered under the program and you can continue to use them for the rest of the day after the lesson if you choose to continue skiing/snowboarding. read more

Skied Ragged Mountain (RM) last year and loved the easy in and out, diverse terrain and low key vibe. I prefer smaller mountains. A few favs for a frame of reference include Wildcat and Crotched. My all time fav big mountain is Sunday River. This is my 5th year boarding. I used to be a die hard windsurfer and years ago, a skier. My boarding companion is bf, an expert in both skiing and boarding. We usually do park and trails and up until yesterday, he'd go into the woods alone. More on my first day of tree boarding. We scored 47.00 tickets in Oct. off the SkiNH website. We left New Bedford 5:15, stopped for a rest room visit and arrived before 8, following one of MANY large charter buses. It was Ski East so the place was packed with kids and parents. First tracks off the 6 pack lift (fast and easy despite being seated with 5 other humans). Every trail we hit on Ragged Peak was awesome. In the 5 years I have been riding (10-15 days per season), this was the best. The packed powder was glorious. Off to the side, some untouched billowing snow. could be found By 10, the 6 pack lines were getting long so we headed to the quad and boarded off Spear Peak until 1 PM. All the trails were amazing aside from Flying Yankee which has some icy patches. Off Cardigan, we headed into the woods at Devil's Den and Tree Hugger. It was a BLAST. I loved boarding in the trees. It takes a lot of concentration and you can't be a baby about your gear going off roots and sometimes, rocks. I face planted twice and came up laughing. We ended the day back on Ragged Peak. My fav run of the aft was Birches, a black. We went through the single lines all day to save time. We avoided the lodge and ate on our car with our own food. The weather was spectacular; some sun, no wind, no rain. I cruised down the slopes often with my jacket on my waist and no gloves, at times. read more

Signed up the kids for the free BeBe Wood's Learn to Ski & Ride Program. They progressed right along using the first magic carpet on the first day to the second magic carpet on the second day. On the third and final day, they were able to ski off the chair lift. The teachers were excellent and very patient. We did ski together after their last lesson but the lift and rental for them was only $20. There is a viewing area inside for parents to watch if you're not skiing but it's a little warm in there with the sun beating down on the windows. A huge solar screen would help a lot but you can purchase a hot lunch and non-alcoholic beverages in the next building to cool you off and feed hungry kids after lessons. read more

Dave is the quad operator. Ragged Mountain needs to fire dave. He is an inconsiderate, grumpy, sad sack of a man. Dave had no respect for anyone. No one seems to like him or cares if he leaves. He was the operator on the quad. Dave, people are not math, solve your own problems. I hope you turn life around because if you kep acting this way, there is nothing i can do for you. If you realize your mistakes, i expect a response with an apology. Overall,Ragged Mountain was fun but we had to avoid the quad because of dave. Come to your own conclusion with that statement. While i think dave has the ability to change. I think there is a lot of work to be done. I hope he changes but it is not up to me, it is up to him. read more

Love this place! My kids learned to ski this season. They are 6,8, and 9. All three kids had the best time. They had so much fun after the first day they asked for full day lessons not just the half day. Instructors are amazing and patient with all of the kids. I love you Ragged Mountain. Finally, after a season of going to every resort within a 2 hour vicinity did I and my ski companion find our almost perfect resort. After my wonderful GPS decided to take us down the infamous "New Canda Rd." we arrive at Ragged shortly after 12. With 6 + inches of freshly fallen powder we hit the slopes. My first impression is that Ragged was quaint. You dont get the sense that you are just part of some huge mass of people moving in giant wave - all pretending to like skiing when in actuality you hate it. Ragged was different. It was very New England. Even though I realized I can't ski powder ( is 6 inches even considered powder) my experience was perfect. The little cafeteria area is small but adequate. The food is actually decent and cheap. You can get lunch for $10 or less and not feel like you stomach is coated with grease like the cafs at Ascutney or Loon. Also, if you go for a half day you can almost always find a parking space in the upper lot. I found a parking space so close to the slope that we were actually able to ski to the car at the end of the day. My only concern with Ragged is that sometimes it can be fairly icy. In fact it can be so icy that you you may slide off of the chair lift loading area and almost get a head injury when the chair lift drags - then drops you and then nearly misses hitting your brain stem - But if you have your wits about you then you will be fine and most likely enjoy Ragged. But go ski elsewhere because I really don't like crowds. read more

I love skiing this mountain. Not a bad drive from the Boston area, never crowded, affordable lift tickets. Terrain-wise it's a little bit of something for everybody. Lots of wide open cruisers, a couple of long, challenging black diamonds and some great glades. Toward the left side of the mountain are a couple of runs that seem to be natural snow-only - Big Rock, Cabin Fever and a meandering blue square called Mike's Run that I once made first tracks on after a big snowstorm - there's actually a small brook running through part of it. A pair of short black diamonds, Headwall and Cemetary Gates, each boast a quick burst of some of the steepest terrain I've encountered. Toward the other side of the main 6-person lift are a pair of long, meandering black diamonds called Sweepstakes and Birches. Sometimes they're groomed, sometimes not. A few years ago Ragged expanded onto a neighboring peak but installing the slowest, most rickety triple chair I've ever ridden on. The long ride to the top is worth it for the long cruisers and access to a particularly fun glade called Devil's Den. Speaking of glades, there is tree skiing for all abilities here, from the blue square widely spaced trees of the eponymously named "Glades" to a series of tough tree-laden trails called The Ravine, situated between the original ski area and the expansion. I skied one of them last winter and after a very steep first hundred yards or so, it mellowed out into a idyllic trip through the snowy woods. Can't really think of anything I'd suggest in terms of improvements, other than replacing that glacial triple chair and correcting the trail map to include some added and re-named runs so folks don't get lost. Other than - just a great medium-sized classic New Hampshire ski area. read more

I took advantage of the college discount ($29) it is totally worth it! It's a small mountain, 3 lifts, and with lower levels of snow this year half the slopes were closed. Very good for beginner and intermediate skiing It's not too crowded just be careful on the way over you do not take New Canada Road (it's GPS guided road but it's really a dirt road- not fun) read more

I skied Ragged on New Years Day and unfortunately my skis were STOLEN at the very end of the day. I never would have expected it to happen here. The staff was helpful in trying to help me look for them, but in the end they were no where to be found and no one from the mountain has called me since then to follow up. They did say they were going to file a police report with the Danbury police department, but I haven't heard anything. If you go to Ragged, I would strongly suggest locking up your skis. My were brand new - I had only used them twice. Bummer! read more

We bought numerous Quad Pack Passes last year. We were not able to use all of them last year because of Covid and the lack of snow which ended the season early. We were told at that time that they could be used this season. I just found out that they expired 12.24.20. I was not contacted to explain the change. The Bebe Wood program is just a scam. Ragged Mountain falsely advertise free lessons to get you there and then crank up the price when you are at the mountain and have nowhere else to go. Customer service was also non-existent, not a friendly place. I booked my girlfriend (who has never skied before) into the Bebe Wood program for 2 days free ski lessons. But when we showed up were told that her name was not on the system and that in fact the Bebe Wood program had already stopped for this year. Well why were we allowed to book it through the website if the program has stopped? Why did no one call us to say our booking was cancelled? What were we supposed to do about the accommodation we had already booked and the 2-day lift ticket already bought for myself and the fact that we'd already driven 2 hours to get there? We were then told that her only option was to pay ~$250 for lift tickets + rentals + lessons for the 2 days. No apology for their mistake, no explanation, not even an offer of discount, just tough luck, we got you here now so you better pay! We left feeling that the Bebe Wood program was just scam to get new business. In fact I have since confirmed that their website is still accepting (and confirming the bookings) of new applications to the program. Should I show up again for my free lessons? I loved this ski area! The conditions were fantastic and I loved the variety of trails. I never had to take the same route down the mountain for the entire day. I had a great time out in the challenging black diamond glades that were longer than others I've experienced. The six pack chairlift is the fastest I've ever been on, which allows more time for hitting the slopes. I heard the old chair on the other peak is supposed to be replaced with a high speed quad. That would be a welcome addition next year. Parking was easy and a short walk. The lodge is large and was not over crowded. It has that classic New England feel to it too. Overall, the mountain feels larger than just a medium sized ski area and I heard they have more land for expansion. If you're heading up to NH, you have to try Ragged. You will not be disappointed. read more

Still love this place! Just wanted to put in a few updates since revisiting Ragged (and exploring other comparable mountains in NH and VT). Regarding lessons - while my lesson was alright and essentially private (it was early in the season and just me and my friend), I've seen better lessons at other mountains. We learned at a very slow pace (partially bc my friend didn't pick up on riding very quickly), and only spent about 30 minutes with both feet strapped into the bindings. Mount Sunapee has some stellar lessons, and I brought a few friends up there for their first times throughout the season. They came out feeling way more confident than I was after my lesson. However, lesson quality obviously varies with instructor - so take this with a grain of salt!! I've heard good things about lessons @ Ragged in general. Now that I can ride black diamonds, I can speak to more of the terrain and trails at Ragged. Conditions can be a bit variable (as with most NE ski/snowboard locations). I saw Ragged in a variety of conditions, though. Early winter (mostly man-made snow on the trails, sort of icy, variable), powder blizzard days (Upper/Lower Exhibition was amazing that day - till the powder turned into a bunch of mini-moguls), and slushy spring days (variable conditions, but soft snow and an an absolute blast). 4 stars instead of 5 simply because the variable conditions and tendency to be icy in the morning/at the end of the day. But that's not really something that can be prevented, other than by producing extra snow on site. I still love the people who work here - from ticket sales to the shop to the bar to the lifts, they're all awesome. Always smiling, joking around, and more than helpful when needed. I noticed that at some other resorts aren't as welcoming and open, but the staff at Ragged really makes you feel like you're at home. The snow pizza is still my favorite midday lodge lunch option, out of all the lodges and cafes we checked out this past season. Seriously, you have to try this stuff it's like pizza made with crack. My boyfriend and I spent the 2013-2014 season checking out mountains in the area, and after over 20 visits to several mountains, we settled on Ragged for the 2014-2015 season. No more waitress service, waited over an hour for a cheese pizza...just has overall been disappointing compared to the previous 3 years we've been coming here. Unfortunately, I think we may have to find another mountain...the lodge is important and when you lose 2 hours of skiing due to slow service...it's not worth it. read more

The first ski resort that I have been to that doesn't make water available to skiers. I have been skiing for 50 years and I have never seen had a ski area tell me the only water was $3 bottled water (which they pay about 10 cents for). As you all know, skiing dehydrates the body more than most sports (dryer, higher air, lots of exercise). I complained about this, and was told I could go into the toilet and get water out of the sink (assuming the water pressure was adequate between flushes). Please don't sue when you ski into a snow gun or tower from dehydration. And the brand new high speed quad was broken, something about the inability to restart after the safety switch was pulled. I hope RM saved their receipts, and had a talk w/ the guy who managed the purchase. Finally, the high speed six pack had minimal to no management in the loading area and lines, with most chairs going up the hill with 2, 3, and four skiers. Often times there was no attendant in the loading area of this advanced lift. They didn't even have a singles line?!?! What really pissed me off was the lack of water. read more

Last Weekend September 11 and 12, 2021 we booked two nights at Cabin Nine on the Mountain in order to attend a wedding. The outside wedding ceremony and the meal were both very nice. However; upon entering Cabin Nine we very unhappy when it became obvious that the sleeping accommodations were not as indicated prior to booking. Knowing it was a ski lodge we did not expect a five star hotel. However, being the third couple we were expected to sleep in the living room pull out (no privacy) on a VERY BROKEN MATTRESS!! After a very uncomfortable night we were lucky to get a private room at the very nice Old London Inn for close to the same price we paid for the way over priced Ragged Mountain Cabin Nine! In summary; we paid hundreds of dollars for a two night stay and ended up with a very high priced, very uncomfortable one night stay. One must assume that the Cabin Manager knew the mattress was broken! I felt cheated and taken. read more

Sadly, todays experience at Ragged was poor at best. (I've always loved "NH hidden Gem"...however today the customer service fell short making for what should have been an amazing ski outing! Brenda was discerning related to my inquiry to use my "charity" ski ride card and quickly dismissed it and offered no support (groupon / liftopia /AAA options) Basically, she could care less that being a NH resident that frequented her resort of any value. Insult to injury...I was told that as the line was of concern I needed to $$$ (regardless of my student & AAA membership) or move on. Played golf here after playing Killington and Green Mountain National a few days before. Mountain course that will kick your ass. Lots of blind shots, water, lay-ups a must, and you need to drive long to get over "the crap" which is everywhere. Saying all that it is a really beautiful place, very nice people running the show and I paid $20 on golfnow.com with a cart (could of used an ATV). Just got our season passes and dropped off our equipment to have it tuned and waxed prior to our first ski outing. Our family really enjoys this place. Nice balance of trailers for skiers of different abilities. The lodge is a great place to relax and have a bit to eat or go to upstairs to the bar and watch a game and enjoy a few drinks after skiing. I think this is a great all around ski resort that didn't seem to crowded last year. We are looking forward to the coming season. read more

First time going to Ragged Mountain for snowboarding. It was pretty busy at the mountain being a saturday plus they had some school ski races going on. I was expecting the mountain to be smaller but it was pretty good size. I enjoyed the six pack high speed chair. It had a long line but was worth the wait because it brings you up the mountain so much faster than the three-up. In the morning my friends and I were taking the three-up because it had a shorter line but the chair isn't high speed so it was taking us longer to get up to the top of the mountain than it was for us to snowboard down. Pretty good pub food but I'd say typically mountain prices. read more

It was my first time skiing and they were AWESOME with leading me through every step of the way. The class was small (4 adults total) and the instructor was great. And it was a 2 hour lesson versus 1.5 hours that I've seen at other places! Overall awesome place, I can't wait to go back. read more

Ragged is a great, small friendly place for family skiing. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful, cafeteria is small but decent and not overpriced, and if you plan ahead, lift tix on Liftopia are discounted. Parking is easy and best of all, the trails are not over crowded with out of control teenagers (Loon, I'm looking at you). I never worry about my kids skiing by themselves and meeting us for lunch because there is only one main lodge, and skiing on trails that are not overcrowded makes me worry less about anyone getting injured. It can be icy at times, but that is skiing in the east for the most part. I highly recommend this little gem of a mountain. read more

I can't say enough good things about the *free* 3 day BeBe Woods Learn to Ski program that my children (ages 7 and 11) completed this past weekend! Each and every Ragged staff member was intent on making my children's experience phenomenal! From the greeter who remember their names, to the man who adjusted their skis, to the attentive ski instructors, to the man who gave fist pumps upon getting off the magic carpet, even to BeBe herself who gave big hugs...things couldn't have been better. Upon completion of the program, we bought discounted season's passes and skis. This program is unbelievable. Thank you Ragged for this opportunity! What a great place to spend a day! We learned from a friend about their Bebe Wood Free Learn to Ski and Ride Program last year and registered for this season. I couldn't be more happy about this great "treat". Our three free lessons were in small groups: 1st class with six students, class two with four of us and class three just me and my kids. The program offers free 2 hours class (at 9 AM and 11 AM), pre-registration is required. The equipment (skis, boots, helmet and googles available at no charge) is selected for each skier based on your weight and height and waiting for you in the meeting room. We were helped to put the boots on the first time. The staff at the Resort was super friendly and patient during the sign-up process, responded to my requests to reschedule the classes due to illness or bad weather in a timely manner. The check in process was smooth every time we visited. The instructors are patient and able to explain the "how to ski". The classes were tailored to our improving skills. The lodge gets busy, but there is plenty of seating area, cafeteria offers standard "fast food" reach in calories to burn on the slopes. Depending on the day/weather, parking may get tricky and you may have to walk up to the lodge or wait for the free shuttle making frequent runs. We visited on busy days (February vacation weekend) and experienced longer waiting time at the lifts or like today, no crowds and no waiting lines at all. I cannot say enough how friendly everyone is... Thank you. We have received our certificates and with them a long list of tempting deals and discounts for this and coming season. Headed up to Ragged for a day of skiing and could not have had a better experience. We purchased our lift tickets ahead of time and saved about $30 on the all day pass. Mountain was signficantly less crowded than the other mountains in the area. The staff went above and beyond to be accommodating and helpful. My skis had a problem with the binding and they offered to switch the bindings out for me while I was skiing, and they comped a pair of rental skis for me for the day. Furthermore, the rental and repair shop was filled with knowledgable experts willing to give advice. When we discovered that our car's battery had died (my boyfriend had left the Parking lights on) a staff member happily helped us jump the car using the resort's battery recharger. Could not recommend this place highly enough. read more

This place is great for all types of skiers. I just went with a buddy a couple days ago; there weren't many trails open because of the lack of snow so far, but it was still a great experience. This was my 5 or 6th time going; never been disappointed. The bar is pretty good too! read more
