Easy check in. I loved my campsite. Very spacious. They run a tight ship here and I felt a little…read moreannoyed at the micromanagement of it all but tried to look past that hence 4/4 stars. I am a quiet camper so when I camp I expect to be left alone. My son in law visited and was asked twice by a worker if he was staying overnight etc. Guests are allowed until 10pm so it was none of his business at that point considering it was only 8ish. I felt this was not neccesary and irritating to me. I am hoping he was not profiled hence extra questions. They have 8 min showers for 25 cents. Bathrooms very clean. Showers clean. Nice dishwashing station. Wifi available for $1 a day per device. Honestly, reception is so good here since it is not located in between mountains, you could easily use your phone or tap into your mobile Hotspot if available. Rec hall that I did not go to. They have a playground. They advertise a pond for swimming but that did not look clean enough to swim in. Sugar River near campsite but we did not go. Tons of kids having fun and mostly running around on their own but behaved. I had the feeling many families are repeat campers so everyone seemed to know each other. 10 pm quiet hour highly followed and actually peaceful once 10pm hit.

Love the gorgeous views, amazing pool and wide open fields for my dog to enjoy. Also love the fishing pond and walking trails. 10/10 would absolutely recommend for anyone who is looking for a quiet intimate get away!

It is VERY much off the beaten path and once you turn on Somerset Rd., it's a good 3 or 4 mile drive to get to the general parking, picnic area near the water. Oh yeah, the road isn't paved either so it's best to have a 4x4 or some sort of vehicle with tires that can handle the trek. The general parking area is a decent size, there are a few picnic tables and a port-a-potty which was surprisingly clean. The reservoir itself is huge and great for kayaking or canoeing, neither of which we did, but I did see quite a few people there enjoying themselves on the water. There is one general walking direction which takes you to several different hiking paths and there is even a cute little bridge overlooking a beautiful stream. It had rained that morning and with leaves falling, the trails were a little slippery at points, but nothing that made me feel unsafe. I'd definitely recommend wearing sneakers or hiking boots of some kind. Between the group of us, we had 3 dogs and none of them were on a leash; people really didn't seem to care and everyone was friendly. The dogs enjoyed swimming in the water and I enjoyed looking at it. I'd most definitely go back to Somerset Reservoir with a camera and a light lunch to kick back and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
