Horrible experience. I ordered a table on April 1 2025 and it was on back order and was supposed to be available August 2025. I called in September and they said likely available in December 2025. Finally I decided I just wanted to cancel the order. I started trying to cancel the order beginning February 2026 and I only just received a refund at the end of March. I had to call multiple times and I kept being told the order was canceled and I would receive an email confirmation and a refund in 2-3 days. Only after calling 5-6 times did they figure out that the order wasn't actually being cancelled because it was so old and they had to manual process a credit. read more

I placed an order in May for just a couple of chairs. They sent one email verifying my purchase and then I didn't hear anything for months. I had to email them three times in order to get a response about the status of my order. They proceeded to tell me that they didn't even have the chairs in stock until august.. I found the chairs on a different website (wayfair) at a significantly lower price... but it was too late. Apparently you are not allowed to return furniture on this website because obviously furniture is perishable and clearly nonreturnable (I'm being sarcastic). So not only did they sell me an overpriced item they didn't even have but they didn't have the courtesy to tell me and now there's nothing I can do. Really disappointed...they have the potential to do great work but...I bought two flat roman shades and paid in full in April 2022. The delivered the shades but they had a pleat in them. After telling me I had bad taste because I should like the pleat, he picked them up to fix. They were returned unfixed.t They still have remnants of the pleat and the are longer than the measured length so they don't fit. I told them immediately and to date they have strung me along and not picked up the shades to fix them. They even tried to get me to live with the bad shades by telling me it would take six weeks to fix. As of now, the company has done nothing to make this right. I have six months of emails documenting my attempts to get what I paid for. read more

Highly responsive and courteous. I found a table I wanted and ordered it online during the Black Friday sale. Within minutes I was informed that the item was sold out but that the price would be honored when the item is restocked in several months. The representative who reached out to me then immediately searched for alternatives when I indicated I have a more pressing need. Staff is not helpful- I asked to speak to the manager and learned the person I was dealing with was the owner. Terrible customer service. The owner wouldn't get fabric books down for me or help me find certain fabrics. It was a let down shopping experience, especially for a local shop. I updated my review to note that you look at their response to my review. It really shows they don't have any customer service at all. Come on people. Remember the good old days when you could go to a neighborhood store and get fabulous service AND the best price available. That is Rafael Interiors. I have been going to them since 1990. I have purchased over 20 pieces of custom-upholstered furniture from them, had very old and fragile chairs re-furbished and re-upholstered, purchased blinds and draperies, and had custom-made bed linens made. Shades I purchased from them for my sun porch at the beach mildewed over the winter. These shades were not certified for outdoor use, but they had the manufacturer send me a different set of shades that would not mildew worth $7k for free. On ONE occasion, out of all the furniture they have upholstered for me, the factory made a mistake matching a pattern repeat. They made sure I received a new chair within weeks. The guys who perform their re-upholstery and refurbishment work are geniuses. Their prices simply cannot be beat. And customer service is king here. This is a family-owned and operated business. Three generations. Morris, the youngest member of the team, has become my go-to guy. My daughters, who are now adults, are making us a two generation family of customers. They are not interior decorators. I have seen customers leave in a huff because they didn't provide decor services. But they are very helpful with suggestions once you know roughly what you want. I have recommended them to all my friends and they all have had the same experience. Once you try Rafael, you'll never shop anywhere else again. read more

Wow have never met a more condescending sales staff. He was beyond condescending to my mother who was nothing but kind and pleasant. I would not recommend going here at all the store is unorganized and the staff is disgustingly mean. Do not recommend going here UPDATE: As you see the owners response below proves my point. He told my mom that she should go to bed bath and beyond when she said no this is to expensive for what they were selling. Clearly the attitude of the staff proves that customer service is actually not a priority. We have been getting custom bedding as well as curtains made in Manhattan for years my mom was just speaking on prices relative to those of your rivals. I've been loving this shop of late for having custom throw pillows made. They really have just about everything you could ever dream up. It's not inexpensive, but quality never is. And it spoils you - because it's hard to find off the rack merch that looks anywhere near as nice. Would certainly recommend. PS - I don't know why it says I live in San Francisco.
