From beginning to end, Better Tex was terrific! We had two old big club chairs that had seen better days. Alan took his time with us to pick out fabric with our specific needs - washable and anti-cat claws. The price was LESS than other places we had called. We found two beautiful colors for our chairs. The guys picking up the chairs were AMAZING! They navigated narrow doorways and halls so fast. The chairs were done in the exact time frame we were told it would take - 10 days . More beautiful than we could have imagined AND the guys delivering them were so fast and so good. This kind of experience, seamless and easy, means so much to us. Thank you, everyone at Better Tex - really wonderful work and service. Much appreciated!!! read more

About ten years ago I used Bettertex Interiors to make cushions and pillows for a custom made banquette in my kitchen. They did an amazing job and I received so many compliments over the years that when I needed this type of service again this year I searched my files and hoped that they were still in business. They were and once again their work was perfect and even exceeded my high expectations with a very fast delivery. Communication was excellent and responses came so quickly even when I sent emails at night or weekends. What else to say other than this place is amazing and the staff courteous and very professional!! read more

Bettertex is one of the best companies i have ever done business with. Jack and Albert are so kind and generous, thorough and ethical. Their work is of the highest quality. they are reasonably priced and go an extra ten miles to please the customer. if you need custom made things for your home, there is no better place than Bettertex! And btw they made slipcovers for my sofa and chairs that fit so well, you can't tell they are slipcovers. It looks like a regular sofa and chair. I spilled coffee on one of them, took it off, had it cleaned, and put it right back on read more

I ordered a custom ottoman from Bettertex and I cannot be more pleased with the result. The piece I received was exactly what I had envisioned and the quality of the workmanship is evident. I worked with Albert on my piece and he is very knowledge and was quick to respond to any questions I had. He kept me informed throughout the process, without prompting. I also found Bettertex's pricing to be reasonable for a custom piece. I had thought about purchasing an ottoman from a national furniture retailer and then having it re-upholstered, but that would have cost about the same as to have Bettertext make it from scratch with the fabric and legs I wanted. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a custom upholstered piece in the NYC area - they also offer in-home delivery, if you are like me and do not own a car. read more

I brought them two projects and they did a perfect job, over and above, on both. They recreated my 2 worn-out Ralph Lauren pillow covers (I gave them extra fabric) including matching the piping, and even keeping the blue label inside! They also took a completed vintage needlepoint that needed blocking, added the fabric and the piping, zipper, etc. and created a pillow. It was beautiful! Very reasonable, they couldn't have been nicer! Worth the trip from the UES to Canal and Broadway!! read more

I am very happy I decided to re-upholster my furniture instead of buy a new set. We had a couch and two armchairs bought a little over 10 years ago. They were well-used and the fabric was worn out. The pieces were built solid but the fabric was the issue. I called up Better Tex and Albert encouraged me to come down to their showroom. This was after I had gotten 2 expensive quotes. I'm glad I went down to see them. They have hundreds of different fabrics and both Albert and the other gentleman made great suggestions (based on wall color, flooring, lighting, etc). I decided on a cream fabric. They also quoted me the lowest price (lower by approx $1,000) The movers came a few days later and were very professional. I was worried they would have difficulty getting the couch through the tight entryway, but they clearly knew what they were doing. A couple weeks later, the couch and armchair were ready and we arranged the delivery. The two pieces were delivered on time and without any issue. I was so thrilled with how the great couch and armchair looked, I immediately emailed Albert to give me a quote for our second armchair and adjoining ottoman using the same cream fabric. Same seamless pick up and delivery with the second order. I am very thrilled with their excellent workmanship, service, and quality. In short, if you have a piece that could use some freshening up, I strongly recommend Bettertex. Don't waste your time looking thru dozens of websites and hundreds of pieces to find something perfect. Just re-upholster with these guys. read more

Very friendly, helpful, timely staff. I got a slipcover made and it looks incredible. They did it in less than a week. Craftsmanship is excellent. Whenever I had questions Albert was very accommodating and quick to respond. Definitely recommend! read more

I just received my reupholstered vintage Stickley chair and ottoman from Bettertex. I am absolutely thrilled with the results! The reupholstery is beautiful, and both pieces look better than I ever imagined they would look. The salesman Alan Schonfeld spent a lot of time with me to help select fabric for the chair and leather for the ottoman. Because of the COVID pandemic, most fabric suppliers had none of my chosen fabrics in stock; however, Bettertex had fabrics and leather remnants in their showroom that I was able to select from, with excellent help from Alan. It did take a full seven weeks to receive my finished pieces, but the wait was well worth it! read more

I was looking for a custom window seat cushion. Bettertex had a competitive price and the opportunity to go down to their showroom on Broadway to pick out fabric. Their selection wasn't as broad as some places online, but it was adequate. They finished the job rather faster than they originally promised, and provided the cushion well packed for transport home. It fits perfectly and the workmanship is impeccable. read more

I was hoping to make a custom pillow with a piece of fabric that I already had at home on the front and a new piece of fabric on the back. I found bettertex online and within one day they were able to give me an estimate. The guys that work there are so friendly and helpful. And they made me the most gorgeous expensive looking pillow at a reasonable price and in the course of days. This is a treasure of a store. Such a good resource for anyone interested in crafts or upholstery. This is literally my first yelp review but I felt I had to make it because of how amazing this place is. Thank you betterTex! read more

Their Slipcovers fit like a glove. Great hidden gem for custom upholstery and slipcovers.

I just picked up a set of very well done replacement sofa cushion covers, having placed an order with Jack only the week before. He had the fabric I wanted at a good price, but he also took the time to show me many options, and the entire transaction was a very satisfying one. Bettertex is well located, straightforward, and I know others professionally who have done work from them who have commented on the quality of the work and textiles. This was absolutely a 5-star experience. read more

Top notch work and service. We needed a slipcover for our couch. We went to Bettertex with a general idea of what we wanted in terms of fabric and look, and their sales people were able to help pick something out. They are really knowledgeable and professional. Bettertex gave us a good price on the fabric and the work. Two weeks later, Bettertex delivered and installed the slipcover, which fits like a glove and looks great. I found the company very responsive to all my questions and concerns. Look forward to working with them again read more

I recently moved in my new apartment, I was refereed by and friend to Use Bettertex Interiors for all my Upholstery and Custom draperies . I was extremely Satisfied with there work, I Appreciate the way they work with you and try to see and understand your vision and also if I had any request such as Fabric samples they mail there directly to my appartment. some company just sell you services and names but not well executed work and product, every thing Bettertex did in my appartment was well done I would recommend Bettertex Interiors to any one in the future commercial or residential they are very good with This Business. I like this place. They have really nice fabrics, and are pretty helpful. They won't bother to ask you if you need help knowing you are a student looking for fabric - so ask straight up if there is something you want. read more

I asked for pre-shrunk slipcovers that could be washed and laundered. They assured me that they pre-shrunk the fabric for machine washing and drying. They DID NOT! What a waste of money! They completely shrunk after the first washing and drying. NOT TO BE TRUSTED. read more

I was originally concerned about some of the negative reviews for BetterTex. We contacted them regarding a slipcover replacement, they replied with a quote within the same day, we chose fabric from a large selection in their Manhattan showroom and the slipcover arrived on time and on budget (we saved $300.00 over the next cheapest source). Every interaction with them was professional, courteous and accurate. I highly recommend them based on our experience with them. read more

This business came to install the very expensive Hunter Douglas blinds I purchased through them. Showed up without proper tools, ( hammering w/ a wrench ) nothing to cover my property and nothing to clean the absolute mess they made of my apt. ( asking ME for a paper towel ?? to clean construction level dust after drilling a couple of dozen holes into the plaster/concrete window area !!!! ) Standing on my furniture to reach window. It gets better. After installing 1 3/12 ft blind, it crashed to the floor. There's more but.. long story short DO NOT do business with them read more

The worst company I ever dealt with. I have used them for one of my high end city renovations project and dealing with them was the worse nightmare ever. Bettertex was to do a leather upholstery on sofa seat, back cushion, and two ottomans. They missed the deadline by three weeks. Once the product was delivered it was of a inferior quality as far as the craftsmanship goes. Bettertex had to remove the above mentioned items and have it done right. After another six weeks of wasting my time calling them about the delivery, going there personally to check the quality of the work , they were paid for and numerous excuses on their side, they never got it right. I will never ever use them again. Rating of Bettertex does not fall into categories listed. However, Yelp would not allow me to post the review without the rating so I had to give them one star. But it hurts doing so. JB read more

We just finished a project with Bettertex and we are beyond pleased. They made three sets of top down/bottom up Roman Shades and curtains to match. They also made a beautiful custom daybed to go in a bay seating area. The fabric, the quality of the work, and their willingness to make everything perfect was beyond anything I could have imagined. We live in a brownstone, so the walls aren't perfectly straight and things are a little off. For some people, this is frustrating. Bettertex appreciated the character of the home, welcomed the challenge, and worked to make our living room a room that we enjoy tremendously. I will definitely work with them in the future on any upholstering project. read more

I just finished renovating my apartment and Bettertex was hands down the worst vendor among the 20+ I dealt with during the process. I gave them existing shades and asked that the fabric be replaced, but the mechanism and style be kept the same. Not only were they over 5 weeks late, but they also needed to be chased after constantly and gave multiple false delivery dates before I finally got the product. When I did receive them, the shades were done incorrectly and when I brought this up with Albert, he was defensive ("this is how it's always done") about his work even though we had explicitly discussed and agreed upon something different. He refused to entertain my request to remedy the situation until I contested the charge with my credit card company. I incurred considerable extra expense to remove the shades and have them corrected by Bettertex, only to find that they were still incorrect the second time around. I now have shades that are bowing under the weight of the fabric because they substituted poor materials instead of using the existing ones I provided them. Despite requesting for my materials back from them, I've been met only with silence. Horrible experience, take your business elsewhere. read more
