Easy communicating during the setup process via email. Able to select some decorative piping (gutter material) so we didn't have to have white 3" pvc to the roof line that matches the existing gutters. Was able to work through my requested placement so it wouldn't be so visible as well. Guys arrived in time, went straight to work and finished quickly. Space was clean, showed me the system was working with a suction test, explained the meter and were on their way. Radon levels have dropped by 75% in the first few hours. Couldn't be happier. read more

Thank you for prompt response, schedule and replacing my fan in less than an hour. Thank you Eric for a job well done!

This company is fabulous! Kevin and Chris arrived on time and installed my system, all the while, explaining what they were doing. They both were kind and very professional. Kevin patiently explained the "whys" and "hows" of the work and system functionality and afforded me the opportunity to provide input on certain parts of the installation. All work areas were returned to their original state. I really appreciate the respect they demonstrated to me and my home. Thanks a million for the outstanding work. Radon Defense installed a whole crawlspace radon system for us. They were fantastic and actually stepped in when another contractor disappeared on us. They needed to fit their work into a larger project and were extremely flexible and accommodating. The system has been working fine and outer radon leves have dropped to almost nothing compared to what they were. Reasonably priced and responsive! read more

Terrific company. Straight forward approach. Thought I had a problem with my 11 year old radon system. Service tech verified I did not but suggested testing for radon level since it had not been touched in 11 years. System is fine. Home visit and radon testing was reasonable. If you have radon issues contact this very good company. read more

This place rocks and they do fantastic service. This company actually comes out to see how best to do the radon installation. The work they do is amazing. We went from an average of 5 to 1 within hours of installation. read more

I hired this company to install my radon system in my new construction home and they were great. The team is very professional and thorough. They explained everything in detail and answered any questions that I had. They do not leave their customers after the work is done, they remain accessible long after if you have any concerns of any kind. I highly recommend this company. read more

We've been in our house for about 6 years and when we moved in we notice the manometer was off but like most people we let it go, then a few months back I started hearing a loud humming noise and thought it had something to do with the radon system but again put it off since frankly I had zero idea who to call. Then last week a search engine pulled up Radon Defense. Linda was super responsive and helpful to guide me since frankly I was clueless. Eric came out today to change out the fan in our attic space and fix the manometer in the basement, he was super nice and my dog of course thought he was there to visit with her (because my dog is a ham). But truly, a great experience he propped up my fan so it wouldn't collect water too so that was a plus and told me yes the fan was going as apparently it gets much louder than what I was hearing. He even labeled the pipe in the basement so it was clear which was for the radon system. Eric also advise what to look out for with regard to the system operating so I would certainly recommend them if you need servicing on your radon system. read more

Great, efficient service and outstanding radon levels (less than 1.0 pretty much all the time). I had remodelers turning the unit off/on during repairs to the basement and the system was having issues and radon defense was extremely responsive in getting it sorted. read more

Paul, Nicolas, and Linda are a top notch team! I would call or recommend them to others anytime! From the phone call just a few minutes after I sent an email request to the final email they were nothing but friendly, professional, easy to understand, and willing to accommodate to my schedule. Choose them and, I promise, you won't be let down. Every detail is covered for your radon mitigation needs. read more

TLDR: Go with Radon Defense for true professional service. Full Review: We just bought a house in Fairfax Station and because the market is so hot, we decided to move fast and do a radon test after settlement. After doing some research, I called Radon Defense for a consultation and test. Even though our levels were low, we decided to put in a mitigation system just to be safe. From start to finish, Radon Defense was exactly what you want from a contractor with this issue. They were easy to get ahold of and communicate with. They were professional and knowledgable and they were able to schedule our mitigation system for installation quickly. They moved so fast that I almost wasn't prepared for it! I expected to have to wait weeks. Not the case. Eric came by this morning first thing and put a mitigation system in without any issues. The installation was clean, smooth and professional from top to bottom. I was amazed how easy and clean it went and how good the low profile fan fits in with our house. Best yet, in this age of COVID-19, every member of Radon Defense came to our door with gloves and a mask. Very reassuring. It's refreshing to work with a contractor who knows their business inside and out. Their pricing is on the level and their practices are transparent. They get a 10/10 from me. read more

Came across Radon Defense via the NRPP website. Called to make an appointment. Spoke to some assistant over the phone. Without a in person visit, without any diagnostic testing without any detailed information other than an address I was given a quote. I spoke to the NRPP State Radon Office in Virginia and asked about this fly by night style of Radon estimates and was told that unfortunately now a days it is becoming more of a common practice in a very competitive industry. What a scary thought, that companies give estimates so carelessly for something so serious. Not all companies I contacted are like this. Make sure you shop around and ask plenty of questions! read more

Had a two slab installation. Went from an radon value of 8 to a average value of 1. Installation was very smooth. Made sure to confirm with me before making any hikes and worked with me to achieve my location preference given limitations in my basement. Allowed me to upgrade my fan so that it blended into the house better. read more

Great Company!! Just bought a house and wasn't sure if i needed to have the radon fan replaced. They recommended that I get the EcoQube so i can monitor the radon levels. found out that the radon fan did need to be replaced. Called Radon Defense and they went above and beyond to explain everything that would be done and about how much it would cost. The price of the work was very reasonable. Came out and did great work and replaced the fan and replaced the exhaust pipe with PVC and also installed a outdoor switch to bring the system up to code. Overall great experience and will be using them again for any other issues i have. I recommend them to anyone that needs any repairs done on there radon system!!!!!! read more

Nicholas and his team are top notch. Not only do they do an exceptional job, he communicates throughout the entire process. He's extremely mindful of deadlines when performing work on a home that has an upcoming settlement. As a Broker, I really appreciate how timely and respectful they are of deadlines. Cannot recommend Radon Defense enough and will be recommending them to my clients in the future! read more

Nicholas and his team are fantastic at what they do. We hired them to do the radon remediation for our townhouse as a condition of a sale. The initial reading as a result of the buyer-ordered test was 17.1, well above the EPA limit of 4. Nicholas was able to get a system installation scheduled quickly for us and his crew was extremely thorough and professional. He took the time to explain everything to me, and upon re-testing our radon reading went down to 0.9. I highly recommend this company if you need radon remediation. read more

I called Radon Defense in a panic when I received the results of a radon test. A third party had placed the radon test in my condo as part of a home inspection prior to closing. Linda answered the phone and immediately put me at ease and said she could have someone there within the hour. Prior to speaking with Radon Defense, I spoke to a handful of other companies who told me they are not licensed to work on multi-dwelling units. As promised, Paul showed up and we did a quick tour of my condo from the outside and then toured the inside of my condo. I explained to Paul that the company who conducted the radon test placed the machine on the floor. Paul was quick to point out that there are EPA guidelines and the test needs to be placed at least 20 inches above the floor. He then inquired on the radon results (my unit tested at 5 pCi/L and the EPA guideline is below 4 pCi/L). We continued to inspect my condo and he suggested sealing the rim of my sump pump and explained the process of how radon can seep into your home. We also discussed the placement and cost estimate if a radon mitigation system would need to be installed. After talking through a few more things, Paul suggested I retest for radon since they improperly placed the device and my levels were just barely over the EPA limit. Radon Defense was willing to test for me for a modest fee, but since the potential buyer paid for the original test, I suggested they have their company test again due to their incompetence. Following the retest, my condo radon results were below the EPA guideline of 4 pCi/L. The simple fact that Paul provided suggestions vs charging me a couple thousand dollars speaks volumes to his integrity. While ultimately I did not need to hire them to install the mitigation system, I would HIGHLY recommend Paul and Radon Defense to anyone looking for testing, mitigation or maintenance! read more

We have already recommended Radon Defense to others in need of these services. Fantastic job!! read more

This is hands down the BEST company I have ever had an experience with. Nicholas and his team will not stop until the job is perfect. I am so grateful for the help they have given me! read more

This company is fantastic!! In the process of selling my townhouse it was discovered there was a radon issue. I contacted a number of companies but Radon Defense was the only company that actually came out to my home on the same day I called and inspected the property to determine the work involved before providing me with the cost. I had a very short timeframe in which to resolve the problem before the scheduled closing and was having difficulties getting HOA approval. Radon Defense worked with me every step of the way and adjusted their schedule to meet my needs to ensure I would not have to delay the settlement date. They made a very stressful situation for me much easier to handle! My basement was completely finished so they worked with me to install the radon mitigation system in an inconspicuous location. They put down plastic while they worked to protect the new carpeting and cleaned up nicely once they were finished. A passing result was obtained when re-tested and the new homeowners have a safe environment. This company is prompt, professional and polite - I highly recommend them!! read more

Radon Defense is an AWESOME company and did an excellent job installing my radon mitigation system. Both Troy and Nolan worked quick to get the project done. They took the time to ensure any cracks or crevices in the basement were sealed to ensure that the newly installed system only pulled air from BELOW the basement vice from inside the basement. I really liked the fact that they asked me where I wanted the system installed vice forcing the installation into the sump pump cover area like many companies will try to do (so they can save time). We were offered a low voltage fan which saves power and also a drain pipe equivalent looking vent pipe. This made the pipe look more like the home vice a HUGE round PVC pipe. I am 100 percent satisfied with Radon Defense and the fact that I have a quality radon mitigation system installed. If you are looking for a radon mitigation system company, this is the one!!!!!! read more

I was not surprised when my test kits came back for radon in the upper teens. As a long-time professional geologist, I know that Fairfax Co. has the kind of geology and soils that produce radon in the basements of homes. I also know how in-home radon can be mitigated. So when Nicholas and his helper showed up I was immediately impressed by their knowledge and experience! These men are professionals in all aspects. They were very patient to describe, for curious me, every aspect of the process as they worked to install my radon mitigation system. I also wanted the system to be routed from the basement through my garage attic. That way, looking from the outside, only a small 8 inch pipe on the rear garage roof is all that is visible. The job was completed quickly and neatly. My retesting showed a less that 1.0, well below the EPA standard. Many thanks, Radon Defense. Dr. A., professional geologist, Reston read more

Great service, great experience from testing to mitigation. Professional work. Nicely done. The Radon level got down from around 5 to below 0.1. Highly recommended. My house had different levels of concrete slabs and foundations and very hard to access crawl space. They could install the system for those different parts greatly. Thank you. read more

Radon Defense came to my new home to fix a mitigation that was not done right the first time. We had 2 tests done and the second one came in at 20, well above the EPA limit of 4. Nicholas and his team came in, evaluated everything that was done prior and what needed to be done to resolve the issue before proceeding. They were very thorough and walked us thru what needed to be done and why. He made sure that everything was explained every step of the way and took into consideration any reasonable requests that we made. They were polite, professional and a wonderful company to work with so that our new home was ready for us to move into. I am very thankful that this wonderful company was recommended and will highly recommend them to anyone who needs radon mitigation. read more

I recently used Radon Defense to put in a radon mitigation system after a high radon reading in a house we just moved in to. I contacted them on a Thursday, they came out that very evening to do an evaluation to see what kind of system to use, and they installed it the following Friday. Nicholas is extremely professional and thorough, and his pricing is very fair. He and Troy came out to install the system, they walked me through everything they were going to do, asked for my input when input was needed, and finished the job in the amount of time they said they would. Not to mention, they left everything cleaner than it was before they got here! I highly recommend using Radon Defense for any detection or mitigation services you need. read more

Upon finding out our basement had a radon reading of 3.8, we contacted Radon Defense to install their mitigation system. Nicholas and his team were very friendly and informative, taking the time to explain how their system would be installed and work per the configuration of our home. They explained all the piping options, and we decided to spend just slightly more, well worth it, to have the outside exhaust pipe match our gutter system in both shape and color to blend in better. In just a few short hours Nicholas found the best place in the basement to drill in and install the system. It is totally quiet and unobtrusive. This was a few months ago, and today our radon meter shows a mere 0.35 reading for the past 30 days, and a 0.51 Long Term Average. Great work and a great product by Radon Defense! They were a real pleasure to work with and we know they are there for us for any long term support. We now have peace of mind knowing there are no longer any health risks associated with the radon. I highly recommend Radon Defense for any household's radon mitigation! read more
