This place is awful. Do NOT go here. Both times I went the staff was running 30 minutes behind schedule. My second time, the technician was in such a hurry she was rushing me and dropping syringes. I felt very uncomfortable. When I asked her how many units of botox per wrinkle she wanted to give me she said verbatim "Don't question me. I do this all day every day, I know what I'm doing." She was very rude. The receptionists are generally unknowledgeable and not attentive. The reception area is also very weird... it feels more like a place where you go to get money orders than it does a "medspa". Save your money and go somewhere more professional. read more

I've only had botox and fillers here, and it's hard to review because on one hand Ilona, the RN who does the work, is amazing. On the other hand, the place is otherwise ... a little weird. The receptionist's default mode is sarcasm, and is very unhelpful. A couple of times I've shown up for appointments for her to tell me, "Oh, we ran out of botox." When I wondered if they couldn't have let me know this before I arrived, I just got some gibberish that amounted to, "Couldn't be bothered." Long story short, I'll keep going because I like Ilona, but the experience is nothing like a spa, at least nothing like a decent one. read more

Well, the one star comes from the fact that I tried to make an appointment for a specific day and the business talked me in to making an appointment for the following day. Then I received a voice message saying that my appointment had to be cancelled, but, following this voice message I received a text stating that the appoint was not cancelled and I also received an email stating that the appointment was not cancelled. When I called to figure out what they were trying to communicate to me, the person that I spoke with on the phone said that the appointment was cancelled, but, then tried to up sell me on a completely different procedure. While I am here, they also ask for a tip on medical treatments that cost hundreds of dollars. Is this strange? read more

I was a first timer botox patient and had two visits to Radiance Medspa. My first visit for botox for my forehead cost $360 and worked beautifully...for approx. 5 weeks. I called and complained and received a bunch of excuses from them, which I believed as a first timer- i went online and saw that botox depends a lot the person, the tech, the botox etc... So i gave them the benefit of the doubt. So I made a follow up appt. I was again told about how they are not at fault for dissatisfaction. I paid an additional $188 for botox that was mis-applied to the wrong areas of my forehead, which did nothing to fix my initial complaints and dissatisfaction. After the second visiit and the week waiting period, my forehead looked exactly the same as when i first called them to complain. I spent $550 for approx. 5'weeks of a smooth unmoving forehead. Its pretty clear to me that they don't know how to inject botox or they use a diluted concentration. The first visit worked but didnt last- the second visit didn't work and was a waste of money. I gave the Radiance medspa a chance because the location was convienant and I was a newbie and it was reasonably priced. Wasting over $500 isnt reasonable and I recommend that you avoid this place- I went twice and wasted my own money. Also, you will notice how easy it is to get an appt., and you will see when you arrive that you are their only client..these aren't good signs... Another thing, I don't expect to tip a nurse practitioner and they shouldn't ask for tips. So disappointed in my recent experience getting botox at Radiance. To quickly sum it up - they did a TERRIBLE job on my botox leaving me with the "Jack Nicholson" eyebrow look and lines, they ripped me off (bait and switch), and when I called them to complain and rectify the situation I was treated super rudely by both their manager and business administrator. Here's the story: I was happy when I first discovered this place because they had great deals on botox and were super close to my home. I had done botox at my dermatologist and really loved it but I was hoping to save a bit of money. I walked in to make an appointment and was told that I would likely need 10-15 units - at $11 a unit it seemed like a bargain so I made an appointment the following week. I showed up on time and went to the room - the place looked weird - like a converted massage studio - not like a medical spa or doctors office. Even though my gut told me to leave - I felt bad because I was already there. The nurse who treated me (not a single doctor on site!) and I spoke first about what she was doing. Because I was scared of having the "frozen" forehead look I told her to go easy on the units and do the minimum because I would rather come back for a touch up then do too many units all at once and look frozen. She agreed to do 12, even though she initially wanted to do 15. She did the procedure quickly and then accompanied me back to check out. That's when things got weird. The lady at the desk (who looked like the "frozen" forehead I was dreading) told me I owed $240. Confused, I asked how because I had only 12 units of botox. She then claimed I had 22 units spread out across my forehead - I made it clear that I only had 12 and never agreed to more than that but she wasn't budging. At this point I was running late for a meeting with friends so I paid the $240 and left thinking that I'd take up the matter with the manager at a later date. I called the next day and asked to speak to a manager, turns out frozen forehead lady was also the manager - she agreed to discuss the matter with her business administrator and get back to me. I waited a couple of days and then followed up with a call again - she said he would call me directly. At this point the botox had taken effect and I noticed that my eyebrows were way too raised - this place gave me the "Jack Nicholson" look and even worse I still had lines on my forehead. Finally I get a call from this guy Marvin, who is the so called business administrator for the "medical spa" - I explained to him what happened and told him that I was really unhappy with how things came out and that I was ripped off. Instead of trying to help me in any way he then proceeds to be extremely rude to me about everything and made no attempt to refund my money or at least rectify the botched botox. The weirdest part is when he insisted that he knows who I am and who my family is - WTF? So needless to say I never got my money refunded for the bait and switch they pulled with me and I had to spend $300 getting my botox fixed with my dermatologist. The moral to this story: avoid Radiance like the plague. Don't give your business and trust your face to these awful and untrained people. read more

I have been a longtime customer of Radiance DC and have always received good Botox, Juvederm, and other treatments there. I discovered that I had to alternate between Botox and Dysport for better results. When Radiance was on 14th Street, I worked as a massage therapist there and really liked the culture and manner in which I was treated. read more

I got my juvederm done in February and it is just now wearing off, I have a second appointment in the coming weeks. My lips look natural and BIG! They used the cannula method which is in my point of view the best. It isn't bumpy or weird like how i've experienced with the top pokes and method it seems most other spas use. I also had my botox done and it was great. Im confused why the comments are so negative but if you ask for Mary i PROMISE you wont be dissapointed, i'm so excited my travels finally bring me back to DC... i've waited for her to do them again almost a year! read more

Giving this place 1 star would be generous. I had a HORRIBLE experience at this medspa. I urge you, do not go here! Also, WARNING: my review is a lengthy one. The short version is that this place botched my lips and made me very sick! Exactly a week ago, I had an appointment at this location to have juvederm lip filler injected into my top lip. I arrived on time for my appointment with my sister. I had hoped she could sit in on the procedure with me. The nurse who did the injections, Mary Clancy, came out to get me 20 minutes after my appointment time. When I asked if my sister could come with me during the procedure, she said very rudely, "I'd rather not - no." She gave no explanation. She took me to a back room for the procedure and she asked me what I wanted done. I explained to her I just wanted more volume in my lips. She laughed at me. She asked why I wanted this and said that I didn't need it done. "I had enough volume in my lips already." She said, "You have a long skinny face and big lips would look odd on you." I was so shocked at her rudeness, I didn't know how to respond. You should never insult a customer or make them feel stupid for wanting to have a certain procedure done. Mary treated me very unprofessionally and had a superior air about her, like she thought I was an idiot. She also Ignored me when I tried to make polite small talk. She injected 1 ml of juvederm with a cannula needle into the upper region of my top lip. After the procedure, she did not even show me what my lips looked like with a mirror. The one other time I had my lips injected (at a different clinic), the nurse had a hand mirror for me to inspect my lips. I had to ask Mary if I could go look at my lips in the bathroom mirror before I left because I wanted to make sure they looked ok! And they did not. I was then charged $550 for this procedure. But that's not the end of it. I got very sick! Only 20-30 minutes after my procedure, on my way home in the car, I started feeling weird... nauseous, chilled, getting hot flashes, anxious, and just sick all over. I realized I was having some type of reaction to the procedure. I got home and basically, long story short, remained very ill since then. I got a fever, I had no appetite for days, I was achey all over, and just a very unusual sick feeling. But I knew this was NOT a coincidental virus I came down with TWENTY minutes after the procedure. I had gotten sick from procedure itself. It happens to people - just google juvederm horror stories. It's been a week since the procedure and I had to go to my doctor for some treatment yesterday. He's hoping I will recover over time, but he thinks either the procedure was done incorrectly and I had a bad reaction, or there was something bad in the juvederm. I still don't feel well today. Let's hope this doesn't last long. I emailed/called the medspa right away (the day after my procedure) to tell them I was sick. Of course they told me "that was abnormal and shouldn't happen." Finally, a week later, one of the other nurses called and spoke to me and again tried to assure me that this was a coincidental virus, but that it was not their fault. I spoke to the medspa director today, Candace, and asked if I could have some type of refund or something to make up for my awful experience and she said, "We don't do refunds." Then she repeated over and over that I should come into the clinic for them to inspect my lips. I'm not getting 10 feet near that place ever again, why would I drive an hour to your clinic to have a bunch of ignorant people look at my lips and shrug their shoulders? On top of all of this, my lips look horrible! Mary supposedly injected into the "vermillion boarder," but whatever she did only plumped the skin right around my top lip, so I look like a cat with a puffy, swollen area above my lip. My actual lip is the exact same size it was before the procedure. All in all, it was a horrible experience. SO much money spent for a horrible outcome - illness + a botched lips. I would NOT recommend coming here at all, especially to see Mary Clancy. She was very rude and should not be working at a medspa if she is going to insult clients. Very unprofessional! Clearly, she is not a skilled injector either. I suggest going to a real plastic surgeon or someone with more knowledge and better ratings if you want to have a cosmetic procedure done. My only complaint about this spa is that they are closed on Sunday's! Other than that, it's so convenient- 1 block from the metro. And they are very flexible with scheduling appointments. I have seen 2 nurses for IPL treatments on my face to treat age spots, both were very knowledgeable, patient, and gentle. I am really happy with them. read more

The sales person/receptionist was friendly and helpful enough. But when I came for the actual simple dermabrasion procedure it was anything but relaxing or spa like; my technician continually interrupted my procedure to answer the phone and after my face began to look less red from dermabrasion a couple days later, I realized that I had scratches on my forehead from when she first began the procedure and have not adjusted the machine properly. This was not my first time having dermabrasion, but it was my first time having it with this company and I've never had a technician actually scratch my face attempting to do it. Now I'm concerned that the scratches don't scar! All in all if you're going there to buy products even though they're pricey, you can probably find what you want but for the actual procedures?! Not so sure who to recommend. I've gotten much better spa like experiences at Aveda or even a walk in nail salon. I was disappointed that I had to go wash my face in the bathroom before the procedure, there wasn't even a way for me to relax and have that done, no water/sink in the room?! Odd to say the least. I'd give the sales person a decent amount of stars but my actual experience was low on the list, especially now that I have scratches to tend to. I did leave a message to alert the spa. read more

I am a bit puzzled by the negative reviews that I see here. Not withstanding the reviews, I went and had Juvederm filler around the mouth and chin area. I thought the aesthetician/nurse (Ilana) did a very good job. She spent time looking at my face, discussing what the best approach would be, and taking breaks throughout the injection to show me the mirror and make sure that I was comfortable with the way the process was going. I am very happy with the results, and I am considering going back to have another injection that she recommended. The facility is clean and well-kept. There was no wait for my appointment. The only slight negative - which I have found with other "med spas" - is that there is pressure to leave a tip at the checkout. I was asked how much I wanted to tip when I handed my charge card, and I was also given an envelope in which to place a tip. I simply don't consider these injections the same as going to get a haircut or a massage. Is the expectation that one is supposed to tip 20% of $500? The price in my dermatologist office is pretty much the same (it is just very hard to get in there) and there is no expectation of tipping. I don't like being made to feel like a cheapskate when I am leaving the appointment... read more

If you're looking for laser hair removal treatment, DO NOT - I repeat, DO NOT choose Radiance Med Spa. I had a NIGHTMARE experience here. I have had laser hair removal MANY times before I ever came to Radiance Med Spa. I understand the process quite well and the precautions one must take before treatment and after treatment. On my third treatment, I was SEVERELY burned on the chin, neck, and armpit. The laser technician or nurse or whatever her official title is completely dismissed my concerns. She clearly has NO idea how to treat darker skin - which again, I have had over 10 treatments at an ACTUAL derm office and NEVER once resulted in any sort of burning and/or scabbing as a result. In fact, my results prior to Radiance Med Spa were pretty amazing. I only chose this place because the location - DuPont. After my HORRIBLE experience here, I had to go to urgent care the next day and then see my dermatologist. I spent as much money on appointments and medications to undo the damage these awful people inflicted on me. Not to mention, the lady who sits at the front desk is the epitome of patronizing. She talks to you - the customer - as if you are an inconvenience. I later found out she is the manager, which really should just sum up the thought process that goes into building this business (translation: they are laughably unprofessional). The space is also extremely unflattering - tiny rooms, loud noises, and attached to what appears to be a tanning salon. It all looks very sketchy, unsanitary, and unprofessional. I will NEVER refer a single person to this "spa." The only positive thing I have to say about this space is that the medical director seems like a nice person. He called me after my traumatizing experience here and wanted to see me in person for a check up. Because of my HORRIBLE experience at this place, I had to kindly reject his offer as I had already went to my doctor and dermatologist. I did appreciate him giving me a call and also asking me for pictures of all the damage his incompetent staff inflicted on me. Maybe they're afraid of a lawsuit (which - lawyer up if you're planning on going here. I did consult with my attorney after this experience). Anyway, LONG STORY SHORT: Go to a dermatologist and/or plastic surgeon's office to get laser hair removal. The pricing is similar and you will have a much more positive experience. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE (OR TIP THEM - which they ask during checkout - which is so tacky and gross). Yelp should allow 0 stars because this place seriously doesn't deserve even half a star (but it is vindicating that this place is SO LOWLY rated... everyone has a bad experience here, it seems). read more
