I asked a question about my original cartilage piercing and I was told that the piercer used a barbell that was too short and there was no way for the piercing to swell and heal properly. My earring was changed but I was charged for a new earring, even though they used the wrong one in the first place. A few weeks later I was cleaning the conch piercing and the earring fell out, and because it was a small earring that screwed into the back, it was not easy to put back in myself or with my husband's help. I called Embassy Tattoo to ask if they could put my earring back in for me, and they said they weren't taking jewelry changes that day because they were running a special for only new piercings. When I said it wasn't a new piercing, it was a 3 week old piercing that fell out, they told me it didn't matter and to stop by the next day. I definitely wasn't waiting a day to put a new piercing back into my ear when it was throbbing, swelling, and would definitely close by then. I went to another tattoo shop nearby who, after saying a new piercing should not have been a screw-in earring, changed the earring for one that snapped in. They also took a look at the new piercing and the original cartilage I got at Embassy Tattoo and said both were pierced on an angle which makes it harder to heal (as I've been experiencing over these last few months). While the staff at Embassy Tattoo are great, I don't see myself going back to after this.

After waiting three weeks, I still had significant movement in my forehead, 11s, and crow's feet, so I returned for a follow-up appointment on June 8. More than two weeks after the retreatment, I still had visible movement and lines. I've been getting neuromodulators for several years, and I've never had a treatment fail like this--let alone a retreatment. Instead of addressing the fact that the follow-up treatment also failed to produce the promised result, I was told I was now "outside their adjustment window because it had been eight weeks since my original appointment." ?????? That completely ignores that they chose to retreat me on June 8 because the first treatment hadn't achieved the desired outcome. Rather than standing behind their work or offering a reasonable resolution, they simply suggested I try a different product and pay again in the future.

When making an appointment, I paid a deposit of $250, but this was applied toward the cost of treatment because the first treatment was performed on the same day (in my case, immediately after consultation). Dr. Alster explained the cost and treatment plan very clearly. I was not left with any surprises. For laser treatment, the cost depends on the size of the area and the laser intensity. My birthmark is on the smaller side, so I paid about $600 per appointment. Dr. Alster cannot estimate how many appointments will be required for your goal to be reached; it could be a few, or several. You can stop whenever you're satisfied (or run out of money). She explained that she could reduce my birthmark by about 80%. I stopped after 3 sessions because it was getting to be expensive. While it's lighter, it's certainly still visible. If you decide to pursue laser surgery, manage your expectations. It may require more than one session, and you'll have to wait at least a few weeks between sessions. Don't expect immediate results. I found Dr. Alster and her staff to be very professional. For laser treatment, I highly recommend.
