A hidden gem! I had the opportunity to sample a couple of their roasts (Ethiopia and Sumatra) and by "sample" I mean cups of. I was definitely on a caffeine high when I walked out... got a lot of stuff done that day. I tried the Sumatra; a delicious dark roast and the Ethiopia blend; mild roast with low acidity (my personal favorite). I bought a bag of each plus got a bag of the Aviator blend to try. My father-in-law usually ships coffee (from Portland) to my husband because he's SO picky about coffee, so I was prepared for him to turn his nose up at this coffee too. I've been a avid coffee drinker. I even used to work at Seattle's Best Coffee a long time ago, way before Starbucks bought them out. Haven't really had anything more than store bought coffee and corporate chains. Recently, I've been trying to get into drinking my coffee black, but most of the beans I've been buying seem to be over roasted, and the bitterness sticks out. I don't mind traveling a bit to find good coffee roasters, pay close attention to your map. It's hard to find and a bit cluttered with none coffee stuff. The coffee is worthy of 4 stars easy but the roasting area and retail area could use a professional make over for sure. It's worth a visit if you enjoy fresh roasted beans though. We loved their Aviator blend which Geoff brewed for us on the spot. We bought two 12 oz packages. The environment is very friendly and relaxed-- we felt special in the way Geoff took care of us and answered our questions. They had an eclectic mix of coffee supplies for sale too and we got a great Bodum travel mug french press. We hope we can go visit them again soon! The spot can be a little hard to find. Met Matt who was a great guy and we shot the **** drinking French roasted Central American coffee he pressed for us that was amazing. Also met his Goldendoodle Waffles who greeted us very enthusiastically. You'll not regret visiting this hole in the wall shop at the back of the building off 84th (which soon turns into Central Avenue going South). Really, you need to be buying your beans here. Love this Little tucked away hidden gem! Awesome roasts I adore and Swiss water process decaf since I'm pregnant right now and need to do 1/2 caffeine blends instead of my normal drink a pot a day! What a hidden gem! I stopped here with some friends and were not sure what to expect from this place hidden in the back of what seems like offices and warehouses. When we got there we were greeted by the friendliest gentlemen who took us to the brewing room and let us sample a few of their different roasts. He kept us engaged in the conversation while also telling us a lot about coffee roasting and it's process. On top of selling the coffee that they roast, they also have coffee accessories for a really great price (I got a Starbucks espresso machine for like half of what it sells for online). It was a great experience in general and a perfect outing for a coffee snobs and casual drinkers alike. read more

Rad Roasting has quickly become the only coffee my fiancee and I drink. Matt really knows the beans and roasts. He'll happily share the information and make recommendations. He and dad, Jeff, are always quick to offer a cup that might suit your tastes. Today I tried the cold brew concentrate. While good, a straight black cup of Carmen San Diego or Truffle Shuffle is still the best. Matt also arranged a Valentine's day coffee tasting session which was a great experience.
