Great product and I like supporting a local business. Plus I delivered to my nursing home as I am in Auburn.

Turkish Coffee House - Baklava, cold and too sweet (more than usual)

Turkish Coffee House

Came to Turkish Coffee House for a proper Turkish breakfast, with the Simit Breakfast Plate and…read morewaffle sticks already on the agenda. Somehow, soup and beef gözleme joined the party. And thank goodness they did, because one of them ended up stealing the entire show. The Simit Breakfast Plate delivered that authentic Turkish breakfast experience. Cheeses, olives, eggs, fresh vegetables, spreads, simit, and enough little bowls to make you wonder whether you ordered breakfast or invited half of Istanbul to the table. Beautifully presented and a lovely way to start. The waffle sticks were good too! Nicely presented with chocolate, nuts, and berries. A sweet addition that definitely earned its place in our original breakfast plan. The soup, however, was a bit of a plot twist. Sweeter than my taste buds expected, and I was hoping for something with a little more depth. Not bad, perfectly decent actually, but let's just say I won't be waking up at night dreaming about it. And then came the BEEF GÖZLEME. Ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! Beautifully grilled, delicious filling, and easily the superstar of the entire experience. The kind of dish that makes the rest of the table look like unpaid extras in its own movie. I'd genuinely come back just for this. The restaurant itself is lovely, with tasteful decor, comfortable seating, and an atmosphere that makes you want to take your time. The staff were helpful and accommodated all our requests, which we appreciated. My only little criticism? A few more smiles and a touch of warmth would go a long way. Everything was handled professionally, but hospitality should feel a little less transactional and a little more welcoming. No need to roll out the red carpet, just convince me you're happy I walked in. Overall, a very enjoyable experience with authentic Turkish breakfast, good waffle sticks, a decent soup, and one unforgettable gözleme.

I stopped here for Turkish Simit (bagel type bread only lighter, much more delicious). I grew up n…read morea culture bordering Turkey and terribly miss this treat. What an amazing simit! One of the best I have ever tried! Thank you! I loved the atmosphere and the friendly staff. The food on the plates of guests looked delicious. I am looking forward to coming back for more! We were wondering around Des Moines as we never have really spent any time in the downtown before until recently. We were wanting to get some coffee and a bite to eat and we came across Second Love. The coffee drinks are really good and unique! I got a grapefruit iced coffee. It definitely tasted unusual and was certainly robust. I am glad I tried it because it's a kind of thing you don't see around very much. They have sandwiches too and since we were hungry we ordered some. They proved to be very good as they were made to order and tasted nice and fresh! Steve purchased some coffee beans to take home so we could enjoy more of their coffee at home. Definitely a nice, solid place for coffee drinks a bite to eat.

They have shared parking with other neighboring businesses, but I would be careful backing out once you're done around the area, as other cars parked in that parking lot can make for bad blind spots. When you get inside, you're greeted by some brown wooden floors and ceilings, and the whole interior reminds you of a cozy but spacious treehouse with the kitchen and bar seating near the front, and three or so two-tops lined up on the walls. Go deeper inside and you'll get to their outdoor patio seating that doesn't have a picturesque view but works if you're wanting some fresh air outside. Staff was very patient with me while I was perusing the menu and baked goods at the front counter. You can get your drinks for here or to-go, and there are hot and iced options for most drinks. As mentioned, I got their grapefruit Szechuan tonic, and it's definitely a unique flavor. It's bitter like coffee and tonic, and since it was advertised as a coffee drink on social media, I was surprised the drink wasn't as thick and murky as coffee would be. There's a mild grapefruit taste that is dulled by the coffee part of this drink, and that sadly also went for the Szechaun peppers that spike this drink. It's probably just me, but while drinking this my mouth was trying to tell the difference between the tingling spice sensation that Szechaun peppers usually give off, and the mouthfeel you get when bubbly, carbonated drinks like tonic come into contact with your tongue. I wasn't sure if I was tasting spice or the popping sensation from soda. Whichever it was, it was mild and could have been stronger.

THE DRINKS | Variety of coffees, espressos, lattes, and seasonal drinks. I ordered... - Pumpkin Spiced Latte (8 oz.) | Made with real organic pumpkins, pumpkin spices, and topped with pumpkin pie sugar. I hate to compare, but it's way better than Starbucks' pumpkin spiced latte in that the flavors are strong with a smoother finish. - Drip Coffee (12 oz.) | A robust coffee that'll jumpstart your morning. THE FOODS | Pastries & cookies. I ordered... - Morning Roll | Croissant shaped as a muffin. Flaky crunch on the top and buttery soft inside. Warmed up and this morning roll is amazing. THE CAFFE VITA FEELS | Small coffee shop with a small display case for pastries and an area to add sugar and cream to your drink. There's also a stand to the right of the cashier counter where 12 oz. coffee grounds are packaged for purchase. THE ORDERING LOGISTICS | Line up and order i at either Caffe Vita or adjacent Beecher's for food or coffee. I stood in the Beecher's line for food and Caffe Vita for coffee and a pastry, not realizing I could've ordered both at either shop. Coffee subscriptions can be found on their website. They ship within 48 hours of roasting their coffee to ensure you're getting the best flavor.
