Back in business! For those who know, the original Raceway Pizza & Hero's closed after 52 years. Forward a year later and the new owner has renovated and reopened with the same taste. Once the original closed, I was as saddened as others were but was happy Louie got the enjoy retirement. I had heard there would be a new owner - Louie's 'honorary nephew' - and it finally opened back up very recently. The inside has been renovated and looks a little more modern. The booths inside behind the fridge are still there, but there is open seating on the other side. In all the years I came here, I never once went into the 'other room', but it's wide open now and can fit plenty of patrons. Outside has a fresh, new coat of paint. There are plenty of options on the menu - the same as before and there looks to be more than before. I used to get the same things and though I always wanted to expand on trying what was here previously, I never did. Now I get the chance to. One noticeable change is a delivery option being here now. Plenty see behind the glass and everything looks tasty. Everything is apparently the same with quality - passed on from Louie. I ordered the larger pie and some pepperoni rolls - basically what I've always ordered from here and it tastes close enough. Finding good pizza is hard and not all pizza is created equal, but those appreciating good pizza will find it here. There are 4 other pizzerias within a mile from here, but this is my go to stop for that now that it's open again. The owner is friendly, welcoming, and nice. I wish him the best of luck. Parking is metered - both street and lot - unless you park further on a side street. Use caution s the meter police are on Yonkers Avenue very frequently. It's been a long year waiting for this place to open back up and now it finally is. I missed having this option and I'm happy this is here. I will always miss Louie and while he's not there anymore, this place still is and will always have my business. read more

Based on the friendly service and my plate of delicious ravioli, I'd come back if ever I were in the area again. Place was clean, had lots of seating. The pizza looked good in the display case, but didn't try it. Lots of neighborhood people stopped in and had friendly chatter with the worker/manager? Seems like locals like the place! read more

Disappointing. Ordered two spinach rolls to go. Saw that the bag handed to me was very small, I opened it. Usually, their spinach rolls are 12" long and 3-4 " wide EACH ! These were 1 1/2 " wide an 8" long. Bought them not two weeks ago and were huge, today's were stingy and shrunken. Was told by the owner " we cut them in half" ?? What a stupid answer. We will NEVER go back again. BTW, the price for the midgets were the same as the robust ones of last week. No more rip=off for me !!! read more

Raceway Pizza's new owners are definitely honoring the legacy and reputation of the original owners. I've ordered delivery online from them twice now and each time I got a phone call to follow up before they started the order, e.g., "what kind of cheese did you want to add to that?", and they thanked me for my business before we hung up. A little old school, neighborhood vibe like that goes a long way with me. The prices are very reasonable. There are a few pizza restaurants within a few blocks of Raceway Pizza, but this is our go-to. The sauce is fresh with a good bite to it (but not spicy!!). The heroes are packed heavily with good quality meats and cheeses. We've samples slices of regular, sicilian, and Grandma slices--all of which get a chef's kiss from me. The crust is actually tasty and didn't get tossed away in my house. I hope this new owner has the success they are working very hard to achieve. Run, don't walk there, folks! read more

Halloween night, me & a few other parents decided to stop & feed the 7 kids we had with us. The owner & his wife were just about to close, they allowed us to stay & eat even made extra pizza free of charge. Almost felt like walking into a relatives home. I appreciate your hospitality & generosity! The kids had a great evening & ending it at Raceway Pizza made it perfect for them. (They couldn't stop talking about how good the pizza was btw).
