GreenWorks Inspections & Engineering

Turtle Creek, Oak Lawn

We had our inspection done with Mike Tower from GreenWork, and we were very satisfied with the…read moreservice Mike provided. From start to finish, Mike went above and beyond for our family. Mike began by carefully listening to all our concerns -- from systemic roof leaks and water intrusion to workmanship issues -- and made sure he understood the full picture before starting. During the inspection, he was incredibly meticulous, documenting every defect both big and small with detailed photos and clear notes. He even helped us find out the potential root cause for some of the more difficult issues we had been having with the house i.e. the sporadic roof leaks. What stood out most was his deep expertise. With over 20 years in the trade, Mike knows construction process inside and out, and what builders should or shouldn't do as best practices. He also has specialized experience in mold remediation and plumbing issues, which gave us confidence given our past water problems. Mike is an excellent communicator and very patient. He explained how things are supposed to work, advised us on how repairs should be handled, and even warned us of pitfalls to avoid when dealing with builders or contractors. He also shared best practices we never would have thought about, helping us prevent long-term issues. On top of that, Mike was extremely respectful and friendly with the entire family -- even our pets took to him right away. After spending the better part of the day thoroughly inspecting our home, he delivered a comprehensive, well-organized report the very same evening. Thanks to his documentation, we now have a strong record of our concerns to present to the builder. Simply put, Mike sets the standard for what a home inspector should be: professional, knowledgeable, thorough, and personable. We would hand-pick him again without hesitation for any future inspections. Highly recommended.

Well that…read morewas not the case at all..Tom put in his report piers and installation process that was out dated and would have cost me over $20,000 to complete the project his way. I had two different engineers review his report and they both stated Tom was wrong and the repairs I needed would not cost more than $5,000 with a lifetime warranty on the work. When I spoke to Tom he was rude and arrogant. The report I received was worthless and unrealistic. Do your self a favor and DO NOT hire To.... waste of money.

We contacted Tom to see if he had his original report and could evaluate the foundation again -- 2 years after the repair and 3 years after his original assessment. Tom had the original report and was able to schedule us quickly. One of us accompanied him around the property as he performed his inspection. He explained what he was doing and his findings. He also provided a thorough written assessment within a day of his visit. In addition, he sent a number of articles related to our soil type and foundation care. We appreciated his professionalism and thoroughness. We have more peace of mind about our home's foundation and definitely would use Tom's services again.

After calling and having 5 different "Foundation Companies" come out and giving me 5 completely…read moredifferent plans and pricing I was referred to Tommy and Thomas Engineering. Tommy came out and inspected our home and put us at ease. Tommy did a thorough plan and is going end up saving us thousands!! If you are having foundation issues, save yourself some time and money out of the gate and call Thomas Engineering first! Tommy or a representative will come out and do a repair plan for you and then you can bid out the work based off their plan. I wish I would have done this from the start, would have saved me a lot of time, frustration and not to mention peace of mind and money in the long run. Don't just assume foundation companies know what they are talking about, they aren't Structural Engineers. Highly, Highly, Highly recommend Tommy and the whole crew at Thomas Engineering Consultants.

We had hired TEC for foundation inspection for our house in 2023 and after recommendation from…read morefamily. Upon receiving the report we followed all the instructions particularly in dealing with Texas soil. Thomas himself did not do the inspection, and it was an employee of his who used Ziplevel altimeter readings and took pictures of the house and then gave it to Thomas who wrote the report. The report basically stated that no foundation repair needed to be done at the time and utilizing the report's recommendations should suffice. Needless to say almost 1.5 years later we had worsening cracks around the house, doors not shutting and eventually plumbing problems. We ended up calling 3 different foundation companies, who by the way, do inspection reports for FREE... and then compared them to find out that we had significant foundation repairs needed and that the foundation problems were many years in the making and not just from recent issues with soil, drought etc. Long story short, had I used the repair company first I may not have needed to have the issue and cost of plumbing repair in addition to the inevitable foundation work. Yes, foundation companies may come with biases, but if 3 different companies are giving you the same report and suggestions, then don't avoid the problem! Foundation repair is costly, but its more expensive the longer you wait, and in the DFW area it's almost inevitable. We were sold on the TEC report that it was a minor issue and paid the price. It was false hope, and putting trust because an individual is coming from an unbiased perspective may seem like a smart move, but there are always hidden agendas. My recommendation would be to get the free reports from multiple foundation companies along with free quotes if you are worried about your foundation/structural integrity and then make an educated decision. Had we done this, then we wouldn't have wasted several hundred dollars for a useless report and maybe saved some money on repairs along the way with earlier action.
